FABULOUS WOMEN of Fayette, 2025!

Carol Goddard’s move to Griffin included a 900-mile drive in a 20-year-old Volvo station wagon. She made it all the way to her new hometown before a rough encounter with an old railroad crossing shortened the life of her car. She survived another year before it had to be replaced.
She began her search for a local dealership with an emphasis on affordability and reliability. “I had to look at getting something that was safe, roomy, and would fit my budget,” she said. “I also want something that looks good. It’s very important to take pride in what you’re driving.”
Unlike some other dealerships, Cronic made an impression on Goddard from her first visit. She wasn’t sure if she would be able to afford anything there, but she took a few test drives while looking for the right fit.
Wanda Cronic Howell, President and Dealer at Cronic Automotive Group in Griffin
The staff at Cronic listened to what she had to say and worked with her to meet her needs. “They were all wonderful in terms of trying to find a car for me.” she said. “I looked at a few places, but what really got to me was the friendliness of the team at Cronic – their interest in being engaged in what I really wanted. They really cared!”
The Cronic team helped Goddard with a range of needs, from advising her on repairs for her old vehicle to narrowing down the list of prospective new ones. Her experiences with every department,
from sales to service, were all stellar. In the end, she was able to find the perfect ride that matched her everyday life.
She found it in the Chevy Colorado, which allows her to handle all aspects of her life – from an ordinary day getting groceries and hanging out with her daughter, to transporting herself to an event in which she has been hired to appear in her “Bridgerton” costume.
Cronic made it happen by treating her as something more than just another customer.
“I love their team. I really do.” she said. “They go above and beyond. There is a great sense that they know how a person should feel when they come in – Like Royalty.”
Kathleen Louise (Gradolph) Conforti, my grandmother on my dad's side, was born in 1896 in Chicago, IL. Standing at about five feet nothing, Gramma Conforti had a booming voice and formidable presence with others, but with me, her youngest grandchild, she was sweet as sugar. Money was scarce for her, especially during the 1930s Depression. She and my grandfather raised chickens, sold eggs, and took in boarders to make ends meet. Gramma was the anchor of the neighborhood, hosting many gatherings at their house.
Recently, Gramma's house was listed for sale, prompting my siblings to visit for a trip down memory lane. Photos sent to me brought back a flood of memories: Sunday dinners with the aroma of roasted leg of lamb, swinging in the tire swing out back, and exploring my grandfather's dark, creepy tool shed. Gramma always had special treats like Fruit Stripe gum, Pringles, and root beer or cream soda, yum! The Christmas Eves with presents piled high, a big pan of mostaccioli, and everyone sitting around smoking and drinking martinis (it was the '70s after all). My grandmother was small in stature, but grand in ability, and always made us feel welcomed and loved.
In 1978, my grandparents moved next door to us in Palatine, IL, so my mom and dad could care for them. After school, I'd hurry to get my homework done so I could run across the yard to play Cribbage with them. What junior high student does that? This one.
I regret not asking her more about her childhood and surviving the Depression. I wish I had asked her how she made that roasted leg of lamb. My father was born in that house I used to visit. It was a happy place and is still a very happy memory, largely due to my grandmother.
We are excited to share stories about the ladies in our community and the fabulous ways they make a difference. Cherish the women in your life and ask them about their stories and experiences — it's such a great way to connect to our roots.
Blessings,

Peachtree City-based attorney Ling-Ling Nie spent more than two decades immersed in high-stakes legal work—reviewing briefs and navigating complex regulatory compliance. She served as General Counsel for the Georgia Institute of Technology and later as Chief Legal Officer for a digital security company.
A respected and trusted attorney, Nie earned her place on the “Legal 500 General Counsel Power List” in 2024 and was named “General Counsel of the Year” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel in 2021. That same dedication to excellence extends beyond the corporate world—she’s also served on the boards of the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts, the Atlanta Bar Foundation, and Actor’s Express Theatre.
But despite Nie’s incredible achievements, there was one aspect of her life that she overlooked: taking care of herself. After years of pouring her energy into work, Nie’s body forced her to slow down. A serious health scare led to multiple surgeries and a long hospital stay. She spent almost a month at Piedmont Healthcare, which became a wake-up call for her to find ways to make her ambitions sustainable for her health and wellness.
“I think I got used to putting everyone first and myself last—at work, at home, everywhere,” Nie said. “I didn’t think of it as

a problem at the time. I wanted to be dependable. But over time, I realized how easy it is to lose yourself. And I know I’m not the only one. So many women do the same thing without realizing how damaging it is.”
As Nie healed, she developed a wellness routine anchored in small joys—cooling under-eye patches and skincare rituals that made her feel grounded and refreshed. This inspired Tender Cosmetics—a premium beauty brand that blends creamy textures with stunning colors and cooling sensations. The unique ingredients that formulate Tender’s cooling sensation will soon be patent-pending.
Tender is a reminder to busy professionals that makeup can—and should—feel good.
Officially launched this year, Tender Cosmetics is a premium beauty brand that seeks to become nationwide. Tender reflects founder Ling-Ling Nie’s personal journey and her belief that makeup should feel as good as it looks. Tender is built on the
idea that beauty can be restorative—an everyday ritual that helps women feel more like themselves.
The name “Tender Cosmetics” honors Ling-Ling’s father, Tun-Chun Nie—who goes by T.C.—and a nod to her parents’ unwavering source of wisdom and encouragement throughout her life. Her father, an engineer turned tech entrepreneur, was an inspiration. “It felt right to name the brand after someone who led with perseverance and courage,” Nie said. Although breaking into the cosmetics world wasn’t easy for Nie at first—especially without industry connections— she brought the same persistence and problem-solving mindset that shaped her legal career to create unique makeup formulas. “I didn’t come from
the beauty industry. But I knew what type of makeup I would want to wear—and how I wanted it to make people feel.”
She’s now pausing her career in corporate law to focus on building Tender. For Nie, this isn’t just a business—it’s a mission to help others reconnect with themselves, one beauty routine at a time. “I am encouraged knowing Tender will help women not only look good on the outside, but also feel good on the inside – especially in moments where they need it most.”

Virginia Gibbs has dedicated her career to serving others, a seed planted in college. Though an engineering major, she enrolled in Duke’s “Science, Society, and Human Values” course, which brought students and professors together to explore the interconnections and ethical considerations around developing new technologies. Today, she carries the lessons from this course, mindful of one’s impact on others.
Seeking to make a positive local impact, Virginia joined the Fayette Chamber of Commerce where she could use her business, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Ten years later, she decided it was time to pass the baton and met with the school superintendent to discuss strengthening school-business partnerships. Since then, as the Coordinator of Innovative Partnership Development for the Fayette County Board of Education (FCBOE), she has helped Fayette County students and educators connect with local businesses while supporting leadership development.
Encouraged by the belief that economic and community development are connected, she applied the knowledge from her prior experience to provide tools, resources, and connections that helped local businesses thrive while leading community development initiatives at the Chamber. In her role at the FCBOE, she continues to influence both sides by contributing to workforce development and assisting teachers and schools in connecting with businesses and the community.
Virginia encourages others to use their gifts to help others grow while achieving shared goals that benefit the community. Hoping her legacy will be the connections and relationships she has helped build, she continues making an impact while finding joy in spending time with her family and close friends. CONTINUED >

After Mary Ann graduated from college, she encountered a phrase that would shape her life’s work: “Love is the giving of yourself for the good of others.” These words resonated deeply with her, guiding her mission to serve her community.
While working at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she noticed parishioners frequently dropping off bags of clothes and other donated items for those in need. At first, she distributed the donations, but as contributions grew, it became increasingly difficult to manage. Realizing the potential for something greater, she founded Clothes Less Traveled, a nonprofit thrift store dedicated to serving the community. The shop not only provides affordable clothing and household goods but also channels its proceeds into local charities, creating a lasting impact beyond its walls.
Mary Ann’s next endeavor was even more ambitious. Recognizing the critical need for accessible healthcare, she spearheaded the creation of Fayette Care Clinic, a free medical facility for uninsured individuals who met income qualifications. Unlike the thrift store, this initiative required securing volunteer doctors, nurses, and medical professionals willing to donate their time and expertise. Despite the challenges, she persevered, establishing a clinic that became a lifesaver for many.
Though now retired, Mary Ann remains actively involved in both organizations, watching as they continue to grow. Her journey has reinforced her belief in the kindness and generosity of others, a lesson she now shares with her greatest joy - her three daughters and six grandchildren.

Latrice Callier is more than an entrepreneurshe’s a connector, a passionate servant leader, and the founder of M.A.T.S. (Mothers And Their Sons). Since moving to Fayette County when her son was in fourth grade, Latrice has dedicated herself to creating the village she once needed as a young mother.
M.A.T.S. was born in 2010 out of a deep desire to support mothers raising sons - single, married, widowed, or divorced, it doesn’t matter. Whether grandmothers, godmothers, or aunts stepped into a parental role for the young male in their life, Latrice envisioned a space where moms could connect without judgment. Having her son at 21, she longed for guidance on how to talk to, listen to, and raise a strong, emotionally healthy man. When she couldn’t find the resources, meetups, or support groups she needed, she created them.
Before launching her organization, Latrice worked in the dental field where she established the first free dental screening program demonstrating that her passion for giving back extends beyond one sector. “I’ve always been around service, and when I’m not doing that, I don’t feel my best.”
Now a proud “GiGi” to her grandson, Latrice’s son is 25, serving in the military, and living in London. The values she instilled in him – family, faith, community service, and healthy relationships - are the foundation of M.A.T.S. and her life’s work. Latrice has a daughter now and continues to relish the many blessings of motherhood.
Latrice consistently leads with love, believing in the power of transformation through community. Visit themats.org to learn more about M.A.T.S.

INNOVATION, PLANNING, AND CREATIVE DESIGN MAKE SPACES FUNCTIONAL AND ENJOYABLE FOR PEOPLE AT 240 GLYNN STREET.
For years, Fayetteville had a reputation as a place where people settled only after establishing their careers and starting families. Young professionals often felt there wasn’t much to keep them engaged in their post-college years. Kingslea Thompson recalls conversations about how Fayetteville lacked spaces designed for young adults and mid-career professionals. “There weren’t a lot of spaces capturing that generation,” she says.
Recognizing a need for vibrant, community-centered spaces, Kingslea’s husband, Micheal, and Brandon McEachern took action and completed one of Fayetteville’s standout projects - 240 Glynn Street - a development that has become a hub for locally owned businesses, all run by women. The project is a thriving center with four unique businesses:
• Hummingbird Wine Bar & Market - managed by Kingslea, sells local goods – food, kitchen, giftable items, and wine. The wine bar includes seasonal craft cocktails and tastings. Kingslea, a certified WSET Level 3 sommelier, has brought a sophisticated yet approachable wine experience to Fayetteville.
• Sparrow Organic Salon & Boutique - owned by Megan Reichenbach, offers an organic beauty experience through a
full-service salon alongside a thoughtfully curated boutique, complete with clothing, accessories, and other giftable items.
• Java & Brie - co-owned by Janeissy Armstrong and Mariana Campos, is a cozy café known for its coffee, pastries, breakfast, lunch, charcuterie, and catering services.
• Two Hands Pottery Studio - founded by Bree Deck, is a membership-led pottery studio that provides an inspiring space for pottery enthusiasts and beginners alike. Classes are offered regularly and no membership is required.
The Venue at 240 Glynn Street, housed within the development, is a flexible 2,200-square-foot space with high ceilings, private restrooms, and modern acoustics. Capable of seating 150 guests for round-table events or up to 250 in an auditorium-style setup, it has quickly become a go-to location for graduation parties, book club meetups, nonprofit fundraisers, weddings, and more.
The Thompsons have embarked upon a movement known as “placemaking,” an approach to urban development focused on creating and activating community spaces. Their goal is to work with city planners and developers to bring more interest
to Fayetteville through thoughtful design and engaging venues. “You have to attract people with things to do and spaces that visually appeal to them.”
The journey to creating 240 Glynn Street has been both fun and exciting. Originally Fayetteville’s City Hall, Kingslea and her husband saw its potential. While early plans considered turning it into a co-working space, they eventually found the perfect mix of businesses to breathe new life into the area.
Additionally, a weekly Farmers Market is set to begin on Saturday, April 19 on the front lawn. Running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the market will provide a platform for local farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs to showcase their products.
Kingslea Thompson is ready to pour you some of her delicious wines.

“I am so proud of our community and all that it has accomplished,” Kingslea reflects. “We have our own arts district, and there’s so much more to come.” With dedicated leaders and passionate business owners paving the way, Fayetteville is proving itself to be a dynamic and inviting place for all generations to call home.
With my team’s support, this journey has been truly amazing. From building my agency to achieving milestones like Chairman’s Circle, MDRT, and Exotic Travel, it’s been a path of growth, challenges, and gratitude. Success goes beyond numbers and awards—it’s about the families we protect, the businesses we support, and our community. That’s what drives me every day.
To my team, family, customers, and everyone on this journey—thank you. Your support means everything, and I’m thrilled for the future. Here’s to 17 years down, and many more to come!
BLENDING AUTHENTICITY AND INNOVATION TO CRAFT MEANINGFUL BRAND IDENTITIES.
ARTICLE BY SYDNEY KATE LEWIS PHOTOGRAPHY
BY SPARROW'S EYE PHOTOGRAPHY
Lasterday Creative rises from and dwells in the heart of a brand’s story. After years of working within big agencies, Jessica Tener craved a more personal and meaningful way to serve the business community. She sought to transform the often-overlooked heart of a brand—their history, motivations, and dreams—into creative work that truly reflects who they are.
The word “Lasterday” comes from Jessica’s oldest daughter, who used to say “lasterday” instead of “yesterday.” The word serves as a reminder of the power of a childlike mindset—one that views the world with unfiltered curiosity and finds immense meaning in stories. Lasterday Creative “embraces that same spirit when building brands. We believe that a brand’s story, its ‘lasterday,’ is at the heart of its identity, and by connecting that authentic history to real business objectives, we create work that truly resonates with audiences,” Jessica explains.
Emphasizing collaboration, Jessica shares, “We believe that great creative work starts with listening—really listening—to the stories, goals, and needs of the businesses we work with.” The Lasterday team approaches each project with a hands-on, flexible, and deeply invested mindset, fostering strong relationships with their clients. Their diverse perspectives as a collective team give their work a distinctive edge that sets them apart from larger agencies.
The creative process begins with understanding the client’s story before launching into a thorough analysis of competitors, trends, target audiences, and marketing strategies to identify opportunities and points of differentiation. This research informs creative decisions and allows for thoughtful suggestions. Every subsequent step reinforces their collaborative nature, ensuring the final
product aligns with the client’s vision and goals. Throughout the process, inspiration comes directly from the client’s story, providing the team with a clear purpose behind their creativity. “When a client shares their story, it fuels our creativity and gives us the purpose we need to bring their brand to life,” the team shares.
One particularly meaningful project involved working with a children’s hospital in Maryland, where the team created activities for kids in long-term care. “Thinking through activities that could bring a little joy to children going through such difficult times really hit home. Being able to help, even in a small way, was incredibly meaningful and a reminder to appreciate every moment. It was definitely a special project that left a lasting impact,” they recall.
When it comes to staying inspired, Jessica attributes her creativity to her children. “Being a mom to my four littles keeps me constantly inspired. They have so much energy and the best imaginations, which remind me to approach creativity with curiosity and playfulness.” Danielle Hendrix, Lasterday’s design director, finds her inspiration in travel. “I absolutely love learning how different people live, experiencing their cultures, and tasting their food. I’m just as inspired by nature as I am by diving into a great book. Exploring new places and perspectives keeps my creativity fresh and flowing.”
Ready to bring your brand’s story to life?

CHEF PAULI SHARES HER MAMA'S DECADENT COFFEE CAKE RECIPE.
My mama was a great cook, but baking was where she shined. Your family’s tastebuds will do a happy dance with this one. Enjoy!
MAMA’S SOUR CREAM & CHEESE COFFEE CAKE
• 2 ¼ cup flour
• 1 cup sugar, divided use
• ¾ cup butter, cold
• ½ teaspoon baking powder
• ½ teaspoon baking soda
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 2 eggs
• ¾ cup sour cream
• 1 teaspoon almond extract
• 8 ounces Cream cheese, softened
• ½ cup of jam or preserves of your choice
• 1/3 cup sliced almonds
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and flour a 9” spring form pan. Combine the flour and ¾ cup sugar into a mixing bowl. Cut in butter and mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Remove 1 cup of crumbs and reserve. To remaining crumb mixture add baking powder, baking soda, salt, sour cream, 1 egg, and almond extract. Form batter and spread over bottom of pan and thinly up sides of pan about 1”.
In another mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, and 1 egg. Blend well. Pour the cream cheese mixture over batter in pan.
Spoon jam over cream cheese, randomly and then sprinkle the reserved crumbs over top, followed by the sliced almonds. Place in oven and bake for 55 – 60 minutes, or until browned.
When done, cool before serving.
