Dear Reader,
I hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy.
Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves; it encompasses every aspect of our lives. From the way we decorate our homes to the music we listen to, from the books we read to the way we carry ourselves in conversations, style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.
Style is deeply personal. And it evolves as we celebrate our quirks, our passions, and our desires. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. In this way, style becomes a powerful tool for connection, as it enables us to find common ground with others who share our aesthetic sensibilities.
As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together, or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Evans to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity.
What I’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate.
Here’s to being uniquely you!

PRIMP AND BLOW IS CELEBRATING THEIR FOURTH ANNIVERSARY
Erin Lipton, owner of Primp and Blow in Evans, is celebrating the fourth anniversary of her salon. She tells us that she decided to bring Primp and Blow to Evans after visiting a blow dry bar in Tampa. “It really opened my eyes and I thought it was a fantastic idea. I just loved it and I knew other people would love it,” she shares. When arriving for your appointment, your stylist starts with a quick hair consultation. “You get a double shampoo, a three minute scalp massage, and then you get a blowout with our round brushes and we do a brush set,” says Erin. A brush set is when the stylist will roll your hair with a round brush and leave it in your hair for a few minutes to cool down, securing the style in place. During your visit, you can add on a ten minute scalp massage, hair therapy, or hot tools. “Hair therapy is where we consult with the client to see what their hair feels like and what their concerns are. We then do a deep conditioning where they get a couple extra minutes at the shampoo bowl with a warm towel on their head just to absorb the products,” says Erin.
“I think it’s more than just a need or a want. Women take on so many roles within life and anytime you can sub-out something is wonderful. It’s caring for yourself, and for some people, it’s 45 minutes that they get to just sit and relax,”
“Because we only ever use Oribe, we are so familiar with it and we are subject matter experts on Oribe and how to use it to get the best results out of the product.”
One thing that’s neat about Primp and Blow is the partnerships they have with other brands. The only hair products that will be used on you are Oribe products. For extensions, they are partnered with Bellami, which are sew-in wefts, and Halo Couture, a temporary extension that sits on top of your head with a band that can be taken off at the end of the night. “Because we only ever use Oribe, we are so familiar with it and we are subject matter experts on Oribe and how to use it to get the best results out of the product. When the girls here touch your hair, they already know what products are going to work for your hair type,” Erin shares. After your appointment, your hair will look and feel amazing and the results will last for several days. “The technique of what we do is different from what you’re going to do at home. How we apply the products, how we blow in the products, what we’re doing at the shampoo bowl, it’s all very different.”
“I think it’s more than just a need or a want. Women take on so many roles within life and anytime you can sub-out something is wonderful. It’s caring for yourself, and for some people, it’s 45 minutes that they get to just sit and relax,” says Erin.
Erin would like to thank the Evans community for all of their support over the past four years. Primp and Blow is open seven days a week and you can schedule an appointment by going online to primpandblow.com , downloading their app, or by calling (706)9202099. One of the most important decisions a couple will make when planning their wedding is choosing the photographer and videographer. Having timeless photos and a cinematic video that really captures you and your spouse's personality and love will be cherished for years to come, not only by you, but your future children and grandchildren. Justin and Calie Cook, a husband and wife duo, have told the love story of thousands of couples for over nine years. “The business is named after our first daughter, Aurora Adeleigh, that’s her full name but we call her Rory,” Calie shares. “We don’t sub-out our weddings, we don’t have associate photographers, it’s Justin and I. We do it together and it’s a family business. It’s really important to us because our daughter’s name is attached to it and we want to do good by her and we also want to do good by our clients,” says Calie.
Justin has a production background from Los Angeles and Calie enjoys screenwriting and telling stories through photography. “We meshed the two together where he does the video and I do the photo storytelling,” says Calie. It’s also important to Justin and Calie to build a relationship with their couples and to have great communication. By doing this, not only do the couples become friends with them, it also makes the wedding day so much more fun and stress free. “We absolutely love what we do, we love weddings, and we CONTINUED >
love our couples. We try to make it fun and we always tell people, if you don’t like to laugh and have a good time, then don’t book us because we are very personable,” she shares. Calie is always prepared for anything and keeps props on hand in case a bride forgets to bring something. “All I ask is that the bride brings us her invitation, and I even have envelopes if she forgets that. I don’t want them to stress about the details because I have every color of ribbons, ring boxes, and any other detail you can think of,” says Calie.
Lately, Calie and Justin have noticed micro weddings becoming a popular trend. “If a couple is not wanting to do something really big but they still want everything covered, a lot of venues now offer micro wedding packages, where most of the time it’s for fifty people or less,” says Calie. With Aurora Adeleigh’s micro wedding package, Justin and Calie do all the photos and video within four hours. It’s just like their original package, just a smaller version. “Believe it or not, we are able to pack all the same things we do in a big wedding into that time. You still get a full gallery, I never give less than a thousand images ever, and still get all the footage just like a regular wedding, it’s just less time. We just went to Tennessee and did a micro wedding and looking at the photos and the video, you’d never know we were there for that amount of time. It’s like we’re there all day, but everything’s compacted and we work really, really fast. We’ve been doing this for so long that everything is stuck in our heads of what we need to capture,” says Calie.

This month, the Kirkland family celebrates one year since taking over ownership and operation of The Fan Zone in Evans. “My wife, Regina, and I are co-owners of the business with our son, Ben,” shares Bryan Kirkland, a native of Columbia County. “Since we took over in September of last year, we have re-inventoried the store and really focused on improving customer service.”
“We’ve significantly upped the amount of Georgia products we carry, and we’ve also begun to carry items from a lot of other teams because we’re a melting pot here in Augusta,” he explains. “We’re a couple hours away from four or five major universities and, on top of that, you’ve got smaller universities like Georgia Southern where so many kids are going to from this area.
Parents want to support the schools where their kids go, so we’ve decided to include items from Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, and South Carolina.” The Kirklands hope to add items from Augusta University and local high schools as well.
When customers walk in the door, they find associates ready to talk sports and assist them in finding the perfect item for themselves or as a gift. “We really enjoy what we do,” says Bryan. “We love going to Georgia games and we love going to Braves games. But, when I go to a Braves game, I don’t want to stand in a two-and-a-half-hour line to get in the pro shop to buy a polo or a hat. I want to go to the Braves game to see the Braves game. We think there’s a lot of like-minded people around here who feel the same way.” With that in mind, the store inventory is conveniently stocked with high quality apparel and fan favorites.
The store’s inventory also includes items made by local artisans such as Pine Empire, GA Clay Company, and Created with Purpose. “People want to support local businesses and I think that’s just awesome,” says Bryan. “We have items from major manufacturers in here, but we carry a lot of items made locally as well.”
Additionally, the store carries sports memorabilia on consignment including autographed jerseys, helmets, baseball bats, cards, and more. “I’ve been a Georgia fan my whole life - my whole house, my whole wardrobe is full of Georgia stuff,” explains Bryan. “When I go to a store, I’m looking for something unique and that’s what we’re trying to do here. We’re trying to carry something that the average sports fan doesn’t have. When you come into our store, it’s more than just coming here to buy t-shirts for the season, it’s an experience because you’re going to see things that you’ve never seen before.”
Stop by The Fan Zone at 4460 Washington Rd in Evans, shop online at fanzoneevans.com , or call 706-432-9444 to check inventory. Also, follow The Fan Zone on Facebook to see updates on sales and inventory.
