It's where you can hear laughter through the walls and memories linger in every corner. Home is where stories are shared, and where love flourishes.

A home provides respite from the world's chaos — it is a haven where vulnerabilities are accepted and individuality is celebrated. It's where a familiar scent or sound can evoke a flood of emotions and nostalgia.

A home isn't merely a physical space; it's a reflection of one's essence, adorned with the traces of personal history and the colors of comfort. The memories that are made within the walls of our home are what last regardless if our home has the latest trends or if it hasn't been updated in years. While it is fun to look at beautiful homes and dream about renovations, we all know that the love we share in our homes is truly what matters most. Russ emphasizes the importance of a consultative approach, stating, "We do a bit of everything." From interiors and additions to decks, Super Siders takes pride in their versatility and commitment to meeting clients' expectations.

HONORING KYRA WINSLOW'S LEGACY

When asked about what he loves most about coming to work, Russ shared, “I get to come to work and see my kids every day. So many people I know have kids that have grown up and gone off to do their own thing. My kids, Tanner and Darian, now adults, are right here, working alongside one another.”

And so, at the heart of Super Siders lies a profound commitment to family and legacy. Tragically, the Winslow family lost their youngest daughter, Kyra, in a car accident in December 2020. In her memory, the Winslows and all employees carry a coin engraved with Kyra's pledge: "Smile often, laugh loudly, be positive, improve daily."

The office, once a place where all three children interned during college, now continues with Darian as the office manager and Tanner overseeing operations. Every Wednesday, the entire team wears purple in honor of Kyra, keeping her spirit alive within the company.

Further, all employees carry what is called the morality coin, donning a superhero emblem on one side with the company logo on the other. This coin offers a daily reminder to take the high road. If faced with a compromising situation, rubbing the coin encourages a commitment to integrity.

For the team at Super Siders, ethical conduct isn't just a motto—it's a way of life. The team believes in earning trust through smaller jobs, ensuring they are top of mind when clients embark on larger projects.

TAKING THE HIGH ROAD AND GIVING BACK

In 2019-2020, the company received the Torch Award for Ethics from the Better Business Bureau. Libby, a landscape designer with an educational background in agricultural marketing and a master's degree in landscaping design and horticulture, fell in love not only with Todd but also with the business.

From hiring Boulder Images for her projects to becoming an integral part of the team, Libby brings her expertise and a spark that has not dimmed over the years.

"I used to call him the drill sergeant, but then found out he was a teddy bear," Libby fondly shares, emphasizing the balance of professionalism and warmth that defines their dynamic.

Libby personally meets with clients, understanding their desires and needs while assessing the space for a tailor-made design. When it comes to construction and remediation, there's a name that stands out - Capital City Construction & Remediation. The brainchild of Chad Harrington, this company has not just weathered the storms of the housing market but has thrived, marking new sales records year after year.

Chad's professional journey began in the credit services industry, which gave him a deep appreciation for managing credit scores and investments.  Witnessing the housing crisis, he recognized the struggle banks often faced in keeping up with winterizations of uninhabited homes during the 2008 recession. That's when Capital City Construction & Remediation was born, starting in his brother's basement and growing into a thriving business about to celebrate its 15th year.

Capital City has become synonymous with skilled mold removal in Minnesota. Capital City is a standout in the remodeling space, but they have not rested on their laurels. The company eyed growth opportunities in the exterior space and thereby became a full-service provider to residential and commercial property owners.

“Our company has the ability to professionally tackle projects that often involve the strengths of all four of our divisions. That makes us unique. For example, a major water loss or severe storm damage to a building can involve dry-out, mold removal or prevention, major build-back, and even exterior repairs,” explains Chad. He continues, “We do require the use of sub-contractors such as electrical or plumbing expertise. Our years of experience with these experts has resulted in long-term close-working relationships, allowing our projects to keep moving and deadlines met.”

The journey hasn't been without its share of challenges. As stated, the first five years were focused on flipping houses and mold remediation. An important addition to the growing company in the year 2017 was bringing Chad’s older brother, Mark, on as the Director of Operations.

Chad shares, “We were growing under the umbrella of a solid reputation for quality work and meeting deadlines. This positive reputation led to more varied residential and commercial projects that we wanted to take on. It became necessary to expand the skills and talents of the existing team by bringing on additional team members and accumulating even more certifications.”

A BACKGROUND IN EDUCATION HELPS TEACH CLIENTS THE VALUE OF ORGANIZATION

Anne's journey into the world of organization began long before she officially established orgANNEizer as an LLC with the state of Minnesota. A former Spanish teacher of 19 years, Anne's knack for organization was not just a personal quirk but a crucial element of her success in the classroom.

Despite his initial interest in basketball and a fascination with nursing and medical studies, Darrius found his true calling when he discovered the world of dance.

A SURPRISING DISCOVERY BECOMES A LOVE FOR MODERN DANCE

Inspired by icons like Michael Jackson, Darrius's love for hip-hop led him to audition for the University of Minnesota's dance program. "Fake it

Additionally, the artist Bill T. Jones and his piece 'Storytime' significantly shaped my perspective on contemporary dance. I had the privilege of experiencing it at the Walker Arts Center in 2013,” he shared.

Through this experience, he discovered his knack for leadership and the joy of creating compelling stories through movement.

But Darrius's passion extends beyond his performances; he dedicates his time to teaching at the St. Paul Conservatory, Eleve Performing Arts Center in Bloomington, and Hothouse Minneapolis. "I like bringing knowledge to others about hip-hop," he shared enthusiastically. His commitment to sharing the therapeutic benefits of movement became evident as he emphasized how dance served as a unique language to work through childhood trauma without words.

As a movement director for the upcoming "Alice in Wonderland" production by the Children's Theatre Company, Darrius is excited to showcase his talents in a different setting. Despite the production not being solely about dance, he highlighted the unique movements required by characters like the caterpillar and the puppet-like Cheshire cat, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of actors in bringing these characters to life through movement.
