WOMEN’S INSIGHT

Two Women and a Vision

ARTICLE BY BIANCA BAIN VILLEGAS
PHOTOGRAPHY BY GALINA WELLS PHOTOGRAPHY

The Barrett School in Destin was co-founded by Adrienne Seaborn — Head of School, Audrey Hill — Director of Finance and Clinical Services, Dr. Matt Weinberg — Dean of Academics, and Alex Weinberg — Director of Operations. It offers a unique educational experience focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) while ensuring a well-rounded curriculum. The school is committed to providing personalized learning, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Sisters Adrienne and Audrey, trained behavioral specialists, never initially thought to open a school, let alone of this magnitude. However, after discovering their passion for education, they planned to start The Barrett School, in Rosemary Beach. Initially, a preschool concept with an in- house clinic, their aim was to provide an environment where they would be able to offer a quality learning environment for neurodivergent children, and be deeply involved in their own children’s learning.

CONTINUED >

This vision was inspiring to the Weinberg brothers, friends of theirs, who decided they wanted to be a part of this particular journey as well. In April 2024, the brothers invited Adrienne and Audrey along for a viewing of a different property — this time in Destin. After a walk-through and a quick chat, they knew that this was it. They had found the new, much larger home of The Barrett School. Like the space for the school, their dream grew. It would become much more than a preschool. Over the course of the next few months, the space — an old bank — was renovated, supported by the local government’s ability to provide the necessary

permits and God’s good grace, the school was ready to open in August 2024.

The now mammoth project needed a lot of work and staff to make it all come together. Many of the staff, intended for the original vision of the school, followed Adrienne and Audrey. As daunting of a responsibility as it was and is, the sisters wanted to honor and support this dedicated staff and to add to it responsibly. With Matt and Alex on board, everything began to fall into place.

With the hopes of starting the year with 30 students, the school has turned into a thriving institution with 98 students and counting.

“In speaking with Adrienne and Audrey, their enthusiasm and genuine passion for The Barrett School was a refreshing experi-
ence. It was a reminder that when you dream, you should dream BIG… and pray. Pray some more. Then, with hard work and dedication, make it happen!

The ethos of the school emphasizes the importance of personalized education and a holistic approach to student development. In speaking with Adrienne and Audrey, it was clear that their motivation comes from an honorable place. What they shared with me about the school, its vision, and their goals is a testament to that.

At the core of The Barrett School’s curriculum is a rigorous STEM education that blends science, technology, engineering, and math with creative arts. The school is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as 3D printers, virtual reality

headsets, and an anatomy table, enabling students to explore complex subjects in an interactive and hands-on way. The school integrates these tools into project-based learning, allowing students to tackle realworld problems and make connections across multiple disciplines.

The school’s curriculum also emphasizes critical thinking and creativity, encouraging students to innovate and apply their learning in practical ways. Whether designing robots, building structures, or exploring digital media, The Barrett School's students engage with technology in meaningful, impactful ways. The Barrett School offers small class sizes, with a 12-14 student-to-teacher ratio in lower grades and a maximum of 10 in upper grades, ensuring personalized attention. Using the HMH curriculum and online tools, students progress at their own pace. Regular MAP testing tracks academic growth, while additional support from reading specialists and therapy services is available at no extra cost to parents. The Barrett School provides various extracurricular activities, including clubs like Art, Robotics, Game, and Sports Clubs, allowing students to explore interests and build teamwork and leadership skills. Special events, such as Astronomy

Nights and the upcoming Drone Club, foster curiosity and hands-on learning. While the school doesn’t offer in-house sports, it collaborates with local public schools to provide access to dance, martial arts, and team sports, with plans for expanding physical activities in the future.

The Barrett School prepares students for diverse future paths, including college, trade school, or career training. It offers specialized opportunities like flight simulation for aviation enthusiasts. With accreditation, AP and IB courses will be available. Focused on personalized learning and real-world skills, the school ensures students are ready for their futures. It also emphasizes life skills like communication, collaboration, and problem-solving through academics and extracurriculars. The Barrett School is expanding to meet the growing demand for its innovative approach to education. The school currently serves students from Pre-K 3 through 12th grade, with students currently through 11th grade. Their current capacity is 130 students with hopes to utilize their second floor more thoroughly and raise that number. These efforts will help the school maintain its commitment to small class sizes and continue providing personalized education to a larger student body.

In thoughtfully providing a superior approach to learning, and making it equally accessible to neurotypical and neurodivergent students, the founders of the school are able to continue to create a superior learning environment not just for the community, but for their own kids. Their hope for the future? To grow The Barrett School in a way where satellite schools can be opened, providing their stellar approach to education to so many more.

Sarah Again

Sarah’s songwriting journey is a beautiful blend of resilience and heart, woven through a life rich with roles. From childhood poetry—words capturing what she couldn’t say aloud—to melodies reflecting her world as a mom of three, her path has been anything but linear. Her love for language ignited during Boggle and Scrabble games with her mom fueled a passion she kept private for years. A pivotal high school open-mic night, where she shared a song and sparked a connection with an aspiring singer, hinted at what could be. But life steered her into healthcare, leaving music as a quiet “what if?”

Sarah’s album, “Stringing Myself ToGetHer,” will be released in spring/summer. It includes originals like “Everlasting” and “I Never Knew,” which reflect her spiritual, reflective, and spontaneous nature, and a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots are Made for Walking.”

Faith Morgan

Faith Morgan, founder and principal of FM Investment Group, is a dynamic force in Gulf Coast commercial real estate, overseeing over $100 million in assets. Known for her strategic vision and relentless pursuit of excellence, Faith has become a trusted name in the industry.

Leading a talented team of five, she fosters a culture of collaboration and continuous growth, empowering her people to thrive. Faith’s deep market expertise spans Alabama and Florida, with a particular focus on the petroleum, leasing, and hospitality sectors. Her hands-on leadership style combines cutting-edge innovation with a keen eye for untapped opportunities.

Faith’s commitment to driving growth and creating long-term value has earned her recognition as a trailblazer in the Gulf Coast real estate landscape. Whether in the boardroom or on-site, she’s consistently ahead of the curve, building strong relationships and unlocking new potential for success. Under her leadership, FM Investment Group is reshaping the region’s commercial market, with Faith at the forefront of its transformation.

With an unwavering dedication to progress, Faith Morgan is more than a leader—she’s a visionary, and her name is synonymous with success and the promise of a prosperous future for the Gulf Coast.

Stephanie Bueno

Stephanie Bueno is a dedicated Realtor passionate about helping individuals and families navigate their relocation journey. Having worked for several employers over the years, she ultimately found her true calling in real estate, where she could combine her love for community growth with her desire to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives. Growing up in a military family, Stephanie experienced firsthand the challenges of frequent moves and living in various locations. “My family settled on the Emerald Coast in 1994, and we were finally able to call this place our home.” Watching the area evolve over the years, Stephanie developed a deep appreciation for its growth and saw an opportunity to assist others in achieving their real estate dreams. “Real estate is more than just buying and selling homes, it’s about creating opportunities.” Whether helping first-time homebuyers achieve homeownership or guiding investors in expanding their portfolios, she finds joy in making every transaction a seamless and rewarding experience. Now, with her husband, Andy, joining her in the business, the duo is committed to helping clients “Make Their Next Move a Bueno Move!” On their spare time they participate in community cleanups to help keep the area safe and beautiful.

Jessy Barnwell

Jessy Barnwell is just getting started with Foil + Pin Parlour. Jessy moved to Destin 6 years ago as more than just a military spouse and mother of 3. She has 11 years of salon ownership and 20 years of hair care experience.

“My love for what I do goes beyond creating beautiful looks; it’s about educating and helping others grow. Plan for retirement, build a savings account, learn proper time management, and proper communication skills. Life is about growth and not just earning a buck.”

Jessy’s passion for people matches her desire to better the earth, because the beauty industry can create so much waste, she has committed to minimizing her salon’s environmental impact.

“From using sustainable products to recycling materials, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. It’s a big passion of mine; besides, looking great and saving the world shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.”

Jessy enjoys giving back to the community. “I love sponsoring local youth sports, adopting a classroom, donating to church, and giving to less fortunate children and families.” At the end of the day, Jessy loves being with her family, spending time with neighbors, and relaxing by the beach.

Julia Drevinskas

Julia Drevinskas is the founder and owner of ReVi Medical Aesthetics & Wellness, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, and a cosmetic injector. She has been in the beauty industry for over 17 years, where she has an extensive background in skin care health. Over the decade she was part of the faculty of the esthetician licensing academy, educating students on skin care, makeup and lash art. As a believer that true beauty is a perfect blend of looking and feeling your best, she started pursuing her medical career 12 years ago while attending and graduating University of West Florida with undergraduate degree in science of nursing. Building on essential skills in patient care, clinical assessment, and critical thinking, she further completed a Master of Science at the South University of Savannah, Georgia with a specialization in family health. She is certified in a wide range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, such as neurotoxins and dermal fillers, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, body contouring, wellness assessments and weight management programs, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for a holistic approach to aging gracefully.
