Hello Friends and Neighbors,
It’s fascinating how reliable Mother Nature is as we rely on the trees to bud, flowers to bloom and plants to grow every year at this time... such a gift!
We have such a unique backdrop as we are surrounded by horses, farms, lakes, parks and hiking trails at our fingertips. We hope each of you will have a chance to step outside and enjoy your neigh borhood, take a horseback ride, hike along the trails near Lakeside, go fishing on Grapevine Lake or make a picnic at one of our many beautiful parks to make a memory with your family!
What a wonderful time of the year to explore the beautiful nature around us, go outside and get your hands dirty, plant a garden of flowers or veggies and watch them grow!
Speaking of growth... our communities continue to expand with new homes and new Texans who are buying new or renovating in existing neighborhoods. Home is our sanctuary away from our busy world and our team has put together a beautiful compilation of home experts to inspire, guide and motivate your home experience.
So pull up a cozy chair, take notes and be inspired on ways to create, care for and enjoy your home and community in new ways!
Sending blessings to you and yours this beautiful spring season!

Brian Gasperson and Marty Bryan are co-owners, co-founders and co-conspirators on their journey with Circle Star Brands. Their most recent development? Cactus Canyon, a classy and modern take on Tex Mex located in Argyle.
As with their other brands, they make the dream team, as Marty inspires the food and design while Brian inspires the finer touches of the drinks and amazing service.
Brian says, “The questions we ask ourselves are, ‘What’s the void in the market and what drives people to come to our restaurant?’ And then, ‘How do we tie all that together to make it a fit for the best interests of our customers and employees?’”
From these questions, the reality that Argyle is a food desert and the fact that this is their home turf made the decisions relatively simple.
“We knew there was a void in Argyle and we wanted to fill the void. We wanted a staple within the city limits that was something to be proud of, that the town of Argyle supported and was their place,” explains Brian. Tex-Mex seemed to be the perfect playing ground for creativity and raising the bar, not to mention feeding their very own neighborhood.
The head of house service that Brian heads up is a key component of the hospitality that Circle Star Brands is known for with all their restaurants. It relies on everything from the brilliant smiles you are met
with by your host to the energy brought by what plays through the speaker. “We create an element of hospitality from the minute you walk in the door to the minute you walk out,” says Brian.
Brian’s passion for the subtle refinement of their drink menu is hard to ignore as he explains the intentionality and love put into making high-quality and flavorful drinks, “Every drink that we make has all-natural ingredients, made fresh and made daily, no packets.” Texas’ most popular drink, the margarita, is the star of their multi-layered drink menu with options ranging from jalapeno to mango, swirl to sangria, sweet to strong.
With more than 60 years of experience in the industry between the duo, they know that the quality and quantity of staff is the unspoken yet most fundamental element of excellent service. Brian explains, “The average Tex-Mex restaurant might have five to seven servers in the front. We run 25 servers. That’s the difference in our services. We staff like we’re gonna be busy every night. We want lots of hands helping customers get the experience they want.”
Together, they make the dream team. And their families as well. “Part of what drives Marty and I is just being able to serve our community regardless of the type of food. We wanted to provide something in Argyle that supports the town where our kids go to school,” Brian shares. “Our boys play on the Argyle football team together. Everything’s local. We’re here locally, our kids are here locally and we’re doing life locally.”
This local element is what brings the joy and fun to service, Brian explains, getting to serve enthusiastic customers is one thing, but getting to love your literal neighbor is even better.

As the winter frost begins to thaw, the world around us slowly welcomes the transition to spring. Flowers will bud, the days grow longer and the birds return, but unfortunately they aren’t the only creatures to arrive home this time of year. Insects, rodents and a multitude of other pests can become unwanted guests that make houses feel less like home. This season, put your trust in the experts at Truly Nolen Pest Control who will solve your problem quickly and permanently with quality customer service, sustainable practices and a heart for customers and community.
With over 85 years of experience, Truly Nolen has become a nationwide company known for quality service to its customers and their communities. After working for his father’s pest control company for 17 years, Truly David Nolen began his own successful business in 1955 and later merged the two becoming one of the largest family-owned corporations in the country. For generations, the Nolen’s have kept the business in the family as well as their promise to customers: “For you to be protected by proactive pest control that you're proud of and see as a sign of good housekeeping, done in an environmentally responsible way, made affordable by serving neighbors.”
Though the corporation has over 80 locations across the country and has the largest international footprint of any pest control company in the world, its impact is most notable through its work in the community. The company is involved with various Rotary Clubs, non-profit organizations and schools

around the nation, raising money to support the communities each serves in. The three locations that cover DFW follow suit by participating in local events like the Keller Crawfish Krawl and joining charitable organizations like the Metroport Chamber of Commerce among other engagements.
“It really comes down to our people and the company’s core values,” says branch manager of Truly Nolen Keller Tom Larabee. He emphasizes the importance of the golden rule, having integrity, being proud and humble and ending with having fun on the job. “We want our employees to enjoy coming to work.”
The passion and work of their employees and partners lead to positive growth in customer relationships. “We really encourage our employees to create a relationship with their customers, to get to know them and what their needs are so that we can build a long-term relationship with them,” Larabee says.
By investing in its employees and those it serves, Truly Nolen has grown exponentially over the years and will continue to do so. High-quality training, environmentally friendly products and carefully selected professionals with a heart for community, make Truly Nolen Pest Control a no-brainer when considering what service to choose for your home or business.
“We’re here for the long run,” Larabee says.

As a former teacher, I know the importance of building relationships. Kids in a classroom want desperately to make connections with the teacher and build relationships with their peers. We are all just grown-up first graders. Building relationships is good for the heart, mind and soul. Here are some ways to make in-person connections with real, live people.
Mahjong has made a huge comeback and it’s not just for seniors. Players of all ages are enjoying the fun, competition and brain workout all included with the pretty pink tiles. The Facebook page “Mahjong Community” is a great place to start getting connected with a group and a helpful platform for questions like ”Where can I find a group or instructor in the DFW area?” The Town of Flower Mound website offers a line-up of fun under “Seniors in Motion” including Mahjong lessons every Thursday at 1:00pm.
“Food is a love language,” says Chef Brad Green. He has been hosting and preparing communal dining experiences in his Argyle home for over six years. Beginning with complimentary cocktails and charcuterie, the Greens will guide guests through a nine-course, completely homemade, omakase (up to the chef) menu that will be a culinary experience not to be forgotten. Visit their website at www.eatatfam.com to schedule amazing fun and food with a group in their home or yours.

Quilting is a beautiful way to connect while working with your hands. Land O’Lakes Quilt Guild has a Facebook page that makes me want to be a quilter, too! Not only are the quilts true works of art, but the people look so happy to be a part of the group. You can also visit Quilt Country in Lewisville for all your quilting supplies and inquire about classes for all quilting levels.
The Lantana Ladies League is all about connecting with others and you do not have to live in Lantana to become a member of the club. Visiting the website can give you information about all kinds of SIGs - Special Interest Groups - from brunch, to Bibles, to bunco, to break rooms. They truly have something for everyone and every interest. Even Wining Women - I see what you did there.
If your best friends converse with you on a screen, it’s time to get out there and look at live faces of fun and laughter. Call your bestie and find a group. The benefits will just happen.
ARTICLE BY ISABELLA VAN TREASE
As a Van Trease, I come from a rich legacy of entrepreneurs. In many cases, it is rare for any family business to survive; it’s even rarer for it to thrive across four generations. In 2025 we will celebrate 80 years of home building, doing the majority of it right here in Flower Mound.
Before landing locally, The Van Trease family business established its roots amongst the prairie grasses of Deer Park, Texas in 1945. About 25 miles east of Houston, the quiet country community became the beloved heartbeat of Frank and Stuzi Van Trease, the family’s professional pioneers.
Determined to build a structure of integrity for his young family, Frank Van Trease built his first home completely alone. From framing, to electrical and plumbing, to hand mixing concrete –Frank took care of it all.
Improving his craft, Frank upgraded his wife and sons to his first eye-catching home in 1949. It stood at a whopping 2,400 square feet with two baths, an oversized garage and an interior sunken flower garden.
In a post-WWII economy, Frank’s unique designs began to intrigue the minds and wallets of his neighbors. In 1953, he began building large custom homes and by 1965 he averaged building 10 homes a year in Deer Park and around Houston.
Inspired by his father’s handiwork and commitment to excellence, Gary Van Trease, Frank’s youngest son soon followed in his footsteps. Once a college student helping steer crowds at open houses, Gary took over the Van Trease building business.
With a family of his own and the desire to move to a location with a strong market for luxurious houses, Gary settled in North Texas in the early 1980s.
Together, he and his wife Sherra raised their family, and the bar for home building and design in Flower Mound. Pairing Sherra’s interior design business with his own architectural vision, they became a prosperous power couple.
As a result, Gary’s high end custom homes became coveted in Denton County and earned him the role as the original developer of the prestigious Tour 18 neighborhood.
Bringing on his own son Corey, the two have put over 40 years of work and exquisite houses into local subdivisions such as The Oaks of Argyle, Tour 18, Wichita Creek, Point Noble, The Peninsula, The Landing, Chateau Du Lac, Vaquero and more.
Today, Corey is the proud 3rd generation of Van Trease Construction and continues to bring the family name to new heights.
Much of his adult career has focused on glamorous homes exceeding multi-million dollar values, with details impossible to find elsewhere.
Always on the cutting edge of local real estate, Corey is now focusing on his Villas by Van Trease in the Lakeside Village community. Over the next five years he will be building fifty five mediterranean villas, priced between $2 and $3 Million. Additionally, he will embark on his own condo towers overlooking Lake Grapevine.
Bearing the Van Trease name, I consider it an honor to not only be Corey’s daughter but a part of the lineage of such hard-working and entrepreneurial men and women.
Now a real estate agent, I mark the 4th generation of Van Treases in the home business. Working alongside my mother and broker Vanessa, I look forward to celebrating the anniversaries and accomplishments of our family’s work to come.
ARTICLE BY SOPHIE BETZHOLD | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY THE ARTFUL ORGANIZER
A pile of books collecting dust on the desk, taking up essential work space: Clothes tightly shoved in the closet leaving wrinkles when removed: A collection of snacks crowding the pantry shelves that requires digging to find the desired item. Though you may not have each of these in your house, chances are you have at least one area that could use improvement. These cluttered spots remain for longer than most would like to admit, taking up essential space at home and in our minds. Jessica Blad and her team at The Artful Organizer recognize this and offer their clients an alternative - living an organized life that is maintainable year-round. In just one day, the private organizing business transforms homes by implementing new systems and strategies with the customers’ vision at the forefront. The Artful Organizer will not only leave your home looking like a work of art but will instill a sense of hope for the future as well.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR THE ARTFUL ORGANIZER?
The biggest thing we provide people is hope. I had a friend who was in a crisis situation - she had four kids and her pantry was completely out of control.
TRANSFORM YOUR HOME AND LIFE WITH THE ARTFUL ORGANIZER’S PROVEN SYSTEM
One day, I went in with boxes and bins and helped her. When I was done, she started to cry and said ‘I changed her life.’ I had a light bulb go off and thought I would really enjoy doing this regularly.
WHAT MAKES THE ORGANIZATION PROCESS EFFECTIVE?
We create a system our client can maintain and make sure it is beautiful - that’s really important to us. We offer an online consultation where we assess their needs and provide design examples, allowing them to choose the vision that best aligns with their goals. Then we take over from there and are able to actualize that vision in one day. By the time we leave, everything is perfect. We even take the trash and donations with us.
WHAT COMPONENTS OF AN ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEM MAKE IT MAINTAINABLE?
Creating a simple system makes all the difference. It’s important to find out how the household is and how everything can be communicated and understood by the entire family. Labeling everything helps a lot, but the whole household must be on board for it to last.
WHAT ARE COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT DECLUTTERING?
Most people are afraid an organizer will say you have to be a minimalist to keep a house in check. We don’t ask you to get rid of everything—just help you edit out what you no longer need. Then, we create a system to organize and make the most of what’s left. Most clients aren’t disorganized people, they’re just busy and need to outsource it. We offer a judgment-free solution.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO FEELS OVERWHELMED ABOUT ORGANIZING?
Of course you do! It’s a natural feeling, but the most important thing is to do one step at a time instead of looking at the whole mountain. Pick something very small and conquer it, then move on to the next thing. Over time, you will see a big difference.

With a wood lathe and a passion for creativity, Joel Rubin has now retired from a career as an emergency medical physician and skydiving habitué and spends his time in his shop covered in wood dust.
“I used to skydive and when I gave [it] up I decided I needed another hobby. I’d always been intrigued by woodworking, so I decided, well let me try it.” And when he stumbled upon a wood lathe he fell in love with the work. In 2001, the former adrenaline seeker built his own woodworking shop in his garage and began his journey of woodturning. For the past 25 years now, Joel has taken classes with world-class woodturners, joined a few local woodworking clubs and thrown himself into his hobby.
His love for the craft is truly unadulterated, he allows creativity and curiosity to guide his next project through catching sight of an intriguing piece at a wood show or a video on the internet. “I say ‘geez that’s really interesting. I’d like to see if I could do that,” and the next project begins.
While Joel has experimented with many kinds of projects ranging from bowls and candy dishes to salt cellars and ring holders, his most exotic pieces are his unique honeycomb-textured decor pieces. These intricate and stunning pieces are made with the lathe to get their general shape, cut into separate pieces that are hollowed and thinned out, glued back together and pierced with a highspeed drill to create the honeycomb pattern.
While more of a hobbyist himself, Joel is open to commissions and can be reached at jh.rubin@verizon.net
After just one offhanded ceramics class in her junior year of college, Laura was hooked. “After the end of the first semester, I was like, ‘I can’t imagine myself not doing this.’ I just felt very connected to the craft and developed the skill quickly,” Laura says.
In her last two years of college, Laura took a ceramic class every semester. And though she graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and was encouraged to pursue ceramics even more, Laura felt called to serving in ministry after graduation. Laura is now on the Global Missions Team with The Village Church in Flower Mound.
After a few years of hiatus, due to a lack of studio and the business of post grad life, church peers encouraged her to pursue this talent once again. Laura threw herself back into her passion in early 2024 and now uses every chance she gets to pursue this passion that is so much “more than a hobby” at the Twisted Clay studio in Grapevine. She spent the summer of 2024 building her inventory and subsequently participated in two markets last Fall.
Laura’s style is heavily influenced by her home state of Texas and her love of nature, as well as her faith. Her floral pieces as well as those with a western flair speak to her experiences in such places as Big Bend National Park and her four years in Lubbock. This year she will move into the creation of dinnerware and is open to discussing commission work. Keep up with Laura on her Instagram @ lauradceramics , find her work at her Etsy shop (@ LauraDCeramics ) or contact her from her website lauradceramics.com .
