A Father's impact lasts forever!
Have you ever wondered, “What differences do I make in my home as a dad?” Let’s start with the simple answer — the importance of a Father is tremendous! Fathers make countless differences in their home and family.
I was blessed to have two dads in my life. My Daddy (Biological) and My Dad (Step-Dad) were such a huge part of my foundation and helped shape who I am as a daughter, mom, wife and woman. God knew I needed both of them and the gifts and guidance they both would bring over the years in different ways. Their unconditional love, support, physical strength, sharing of their knowledge and wisdom would provide the cornerstones of the foundation that would sustain me and my family for years to come. To this day, there is no price on the time, memories, laughs, hugs, advice and love they have given me and I am forever grateful for their love, support and impact on mine and my kids' lives and our entire family.
A Father’s gifts of quality time, life-giving words, and positive actions have a forever impact on his children.
And if you are a Dad, let us be the first to say - thank you. You are invaluable to the people who know and need you as well as the community around you.
Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers and Father Figures! And a special Happy Father's Day to my two amazing dads, Tony Lewis and Bud Holladay whom I am so grateful God blessed me with on this earth! Last but not least, Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, Elvin Fenton! Love,

The Barron’s “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors: State-by-State” list, published annually in March; rankings based on data as of Sept. 30 of prior year. Rankings considered advisors with a minimum of seven years financial services experience, who have been employed at their current firm for at least one year. The Top 1,200 award included top advisors in each state, with the number of ranking spots determined by each state’s population and wealth. For both awards, other quantitative and qualitative measures include assets under management, revenues generated by advisors for their firms, and the quality of the advisors’ practices, regulatory records, internal company documents, and data provided by the advisors themselves.

Four Day Weekend Cowboys Golf Club Chicken N Pickle Drive XoticBased on his last mayoral term, it is hard to argue that Derek France doesn’t wear a lot of hats… and maybe even a dinosaur costume. But this doesn’t seem like anything new to Derek. Over the years he has worn the hat of student council member and Eagle Scout in his younger years and later as a police officer, private military contractor, Summit club member, churchgoer, upstanding citizen, rotary member, and owner of his own private consulting group. Despite the weight of these hats, one of his favorite things about the role of mayor is the heart of servant leadership that it requires. “You have to not be afraid to meet people and be asked difficult questions,” Derek explains. But the pressure as mayor is something that he doesn’t seem to shy away from but has embraced over the years, “From a sincere servant’s heart, that’s why [I] do this.” As a volunteer, non-paid job, the role of mayor includes being both chief ambassador and head cheerleader, and Derek is definitely a big fan of Flower Mound, “We’re the gem of North Texas and definitely of Denton County. We have a unique thing in our community because, like gold being popular, everybody wants some of it!” Sharing his love for his town has meant everything from campaign slogans to countless meetings to time attending events, but also has possibly included reading the book “Dragons Love Tacos” in a dragon costume to kids. But he loves it, Derek confesses with a laugh, “The impact that you can have because of a mere title really allows me to be able to do things that could really be life-changing and memorable to people.”
“I was born, thank God, with the gift of hospitality. I recognized it at an early age and I knew he’d gifted me with this ability and he doesn’t want me to bury it.”
Marty’s gift has resulted in BBQ and Bible studies, ice cream and steak, coffee and kolaches. More importantly, however, it has created a beautiful culture and welcoming environment for his customers and his employees. Marty says, “I wanted to be able to provide a place for people to come, celebrate life, connect with their friends and family.” After working many years in the corporate world working for restaurants, Marty learned about what to do…and not to do, “I found that people are a product of their environment.” Which is why he is dedicated to fostering and cultivating an environment for both his customers and employees.
“When people come to work for us, we see that as just a huge responsibility,” Marty explains. Especially for his teenage employees, Marty takes the roles seriously in making sure they are going to be safe, productive, told the truth, held accountable, and taught transferable life skills to prepare them for their next endeavor. It all goes into making a culture and environment that is “spirit-filled”, Marty explains, his resolute goal of investing in people shows in his every word. “He wants me to use my gifts to glorify his name and be able to provide a place that’s kind of spirit-filled. What defines our heart is being able to be generous. God’s been generous to us. We want to be generous to our community.” This community is really what makes it all happen Marty says, it is the real reason that his businesses have been such a success. “We love this area. It’s really special. We really feel that in the quality of our customers and the quality of our employees.”
Founder and Executive Director of Direction 61:3, Dr. Myron Wilson takes no time to speak of himself but instead begins to share the story of who he calls, the “invisible population”– teenagers that age out of foster care. At the age of 57, Myron told himself, “‘All right, I’ve lived essentially two-thirds of my life. I want to finish strong with the last third of my life.’ I asked God to make my life count. I met an 18-year-old homeless aged-out foster girl named Regina. My wife and I took her into our home for several weeks. She opened our eyes to the need and was the catalyst to the creation of Direction61:3.” Today, the nonprofit has multiple locations in both Denton and McKinney with plans of expanding in the near future. From providing teens with homes, mentors, food, counseling, jobs, cars, and life skill classes, this project, although it began later in his life, is impacting lives in large ways and still growing wildly, but his passion for bringing awareness doesn’t seem to have dwindled. There are 400,000 kids in foster care in the US and every year, 30,000 of those kids age out and become almost immediately homeless, Myron explains. “In the book of James,” Myron quotes, “it talks about how true faith is ministering to widows and orphans. Simply stated, aged-out youth from foster care are older orphans. And they’re at risk without others helping them.” With the goal to raise awareness and save foster teens from the street, Myron’s passion is evident from his role as leader, visionary, executive director, leading sponsor parents, guiding his staff, spiritually guiding the kids, teaching life skills, working alongside his incredible team all in the name of a “simple” yet exceptional goal: “Please God in all that we do and all that we say.”
“I have benefited greatly from the generosity and support of others throughout my life. [And I know] that if I can make a difference in the life of people, that would then multiply, and they can make a difference in the lives of the people that they come in contact with.” Bentley Ford is the Managing Director, Dallas Market, with Prime Capital Investment Advisors in Flower Mound. But it all comes back to his goal of “leaving the world better than it was before.” It’s one of the most rewarding experiences, he explains, when your professional goals align so well with your personal ones: to have compassion and make a positive impact. “One of the things I love about what I do is that I get an opportunity to build relationships with people and serve them and help them to make the most and benefit the most from what they’ve been blessed with.” Bentley’s primary life goal isn’t a financial legacy, he explains, and it isn’t a secondary goal to heap on top of the rest of life’s tasks. It is the center of everything that he does as a financial advisor, husband, father, leader and beyond, from “sitting in a Bible study, talking to my kids in the truck on the way home from a baseball tournament where things didn’t go well for them, or sitting with a client who’s wrapping up their work life and looking at what they’re going to do with their financial freedom…” It is also key to his involvement with the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas with 2024 as his third year on the board and having recently moved to a role on the finance committee as well. Because of the stigma placed on the crime of child abuse, helping this mission requires community involvement, he explains, “The community is responsible for looking after the weak and the vulnerable, the community has always responded and this is no different.” With sincerity and dedication, Bentley tackles every aspect of his life, it’s about leaving it better than before, and “we can’t get it wrong. We can’t come up short as a community in our response and leave anybody behind.”
It is June and the Texas summer has begun. How thankful we are that we can walk back into the house and the air conditioner is working…..until it isn’t.
Triple A Air Conditioning and Heating has been keeping families cool for generations, literally.
Owner Keith Neff began Triple A in 1989 after growing up riding around in his father’s truck watching and helping him with air and heating jobs. After high school, he continued in the business and eventually bought his own company. He wanted to work for himself and never looked back. Fast forward a few years and Dustin is born. And just like
his father, he began riding in the truck with his dad, watching, learning and helping.
Today this father and son team work diligently side by side to serve customers, many of whom have been relying on Triple A for several years. Dustin recalls playing with his GI Joe toys while his father worked and then returning to this same house years later as an adult providing the same trusted service.
The younger Neff began to have an interest in the business around age 11 and claims, “It is all I ever knew.” After graduating from college, he chose the family business and father and son have maintained a strong professional and personal relationship.
As a team, the men pride themselves on relationships and trust with their customers. Keith has built a business by promoting excellent skill and honest service. Dustin continues that legacy while adding modern rebranding and technical skills. Dustin helped design and implement a trade class in Lewisville for future technicians at Tech West.
“There have been several graduates from the program that go right into the field. And we have some rock-star females in our field as well.”
The pride on this father’s face is evident as he speaks about Dustin. Dustin calls his dad “my hero.”
When asked if another Neff will follow in these footsteps, they smile and say, “We would welcome that.”

Stoves that warmed families and paved the way for an amazing hobby
A young entrepreneur who began earning money cutting firewood in the 8th grade discovered an antique parlor stove in the back of a barn. It was dirty and needed repair, so Elvin Fenton carted it home and restored it back to its original beauty. He sold it for $300 and thought he was rich. If he could do it once he could do it again and his stove restoration business was born.
The cast iron parlor base burner stove was popular throughout the 1800s and served as both a heat source and a beautiful piece of art in a home’s parlor where a family would gather to receive guests, dine, tell stories and unwind much like our living rooms today. Each stove is made of cast iron which requires an original mold that adds an artistic and unique touch.
In high school, Fenton searched for more stoves in yards and antique stores. When he went to college, he rented a
house with a detached garage to continue his business and was able to pay tuition by restoring stoves. Beginning with a “rust bucket” and turning it into its original glory motivates Fenton to continue to buy old stoves, fly to fun places and drive a U-Haul back home filled with even more stoves. The Antique Stove Association provides opportunities to network with other enthusiasts.
After entering optometry school, Fenton took a break from restoration to place all his attention on his studies. Following years of a successful optometry career, he continues to restore stoves, but what was once a business has changed into a rewarding hobby. If you find yourself traveling through Amarillo, stop in The Big Texan restaurant for the famous 72-ounce steak and a peek at one of Fenton’s masterpieces. “Seeing a face in awe of what you have done,” Fenton says, “is the most rewarding part.”

HOW ARTIST AND TEACHER CALEB JACKS FINDS INSPIRATION IN CLOTHESLINES AND COMICS
ARTICLE BY MALLORY NEWELLBehind Caleb is a portrait of a bear on the wall with contemplative eyes, a pen poised in his paw and a half-complete piece of art on the desk before him. “It’s a self-portrait, I’ve been told that I remind people of a bear,” he explains with a smile and shrugs, “there’s some similar personality traits there.” In a denim button-up and cardigan, the bear rests his head in his other paw, momentarily caught up in thought. Similarly, Caleb leans forward with a thoughtful look.
Caleb Jacks’ career as an artist began organically due to not being one for sports and coming from an artsy family. As a kid and nerd obsessed with comics, Star Wars, and Marvel, “I would just draw all the time and I just never let it go,” Caleb laughs. It was a hobby and passion, a form of stress relief, and a way of learning and making
Lonesome Cowboy - digital, procreate Jackconnections as a dyslexic student, which led to a degree in art from Texas A&M Commerce and on to becoming an art teacher. “I think this is my 15th year teaching,” Caleb smiles, now an art teacher at LISD Hebron High School, “You kind of lose track sometimes.”
After college, Caleb taught, painted, sketched, and chalked his way through classrooms, projects and murals. His mural career kicked off in 2015 when he completed one in school chalk at the former restaurant Lark in the Park in Dallas. “They paid you handsomely with a $1,000 gift card to their restaurant. I’ve done it six times, I fed my family and friends like royalty,” Caleb laughs. A few more of his murals showed up around Texas, one at Greenville Presbyterian Hospital, one in downtown Fate, Texas (a massive 80-foot long piece), another in our own Lewisville Grand Theater, and just recently at The Barn at URBN Burger inside the cafeteria of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. “I almost find it relaxing in a way. It sounds really cheesy when I say it, but it’s like a weird silly dance. You’re using a lot of full arm strokes, stepping back from the wall and then up to it.”
Though Caleb is familiar with murals, his artistic style is yet to be boxed in. “I’m all over the place,” he laughs, “I wish I wasn’t because I think I could market myself a little bit better…I think I’m getting the saying wrong. ‘I’m good at a lot of things, but a master of none.’ That’s how I kind of see myself. But I think it also helps,” he continues, “it shows how versatile I can be. I love exploring all different mediums.” From the outside, however, his versatility is far from his downfall, but really his strength. His pieces encompass everything from crosshatch shading and a block-print-like technique with high contrast and mediums such as oil pastels and even digital prints. But it’s not so much his methods or techniques that identify him but his inspiration.
“Recently it’s been a lot Texas Western, just going back to my roots and this comfortable area in my life– a small town feel.” Born and raised in Greenville, Texas,
Caleb reminisces on hating living in a small town as a kid, but now? “I have plans to do these large paintings of these tractor saddle stools. My great-grandmother had one in her yard and I loved sitting on it growing up.” The nostalgia of the “Saturday morning cartoons” way of life as a kid seeps into Caleb’s words, “I remember I had these clotheslines in my backyard. I would try and jump for them. I thought they were so tall, you know, as a little kid. But as I got older growing up there, I didn’t have to jump for them. I could just grab them.” A life of worn canvas seats of lawnchairs, clotheslines drooping over chain link fences in the backyard, old metal patio furniture, and tractor seats made into barstools… “the small town, slow living. I just miss that.” These elements that he embraces cause his style to tiptoe between Texas Regional Art and Modern American Folk Art.
Caleb, his wife Sam, and daughter CeCe // Photography by Emily JacksIn addition to personal inspiration, Caleb often works on commissions such as comic illustrations of a client’s son in a scene with Spiderman, family photos recreated as Lord of the Rings characters, or literal narrative drawings of a Bible story. Caleb’s new and growing website speaks to his skill in working within limits as well as outside of them.
“I’m very blessed, and just very thankful for the opportunity to be able to do what I do as a teacher, and still make art, that it’s possible. I’m coming up on 40, and I still get to play with paint, pictures, and drawing.” It all goes back to his faith in God, he explains, a small sketch on the wall behind him shows a bear with the words “I’ve surrendered to your design” around it. It’s easy to see the elements of design in Caleb’s life, as a teacher, artist, husband to Sam and father to CeCe, and as he describes his childhood. His gift to create and imagine has brought him full circle. As a kid, it allowed him to sketch comics and turn a stick into a wand or an arrow in the little town of Greenville. Today, it allows him to turn an art teacher into a bear.
