The Gentlemen’s Guide to Centennial

They say men are simple—but if this issue proves anything, it’s that they’re anything but.

This month, we’re celebrating the thinkers, doers, dreamers, dads, and jokesters who make Centennial such a bold, driven, and quietly powerful place to live. From backyard grill masters (yes, the neighbor BBQ rivalry is real) to bourbon connoisseurs, horsepower lovers, and tech innovators—this issue is packed with everything men love, and a few things they didn’t know they needed.

Inside, you’ll meet some incredible gentlemen leaders and creators—from those building community hangouts to those pushing the edge of innovation and wellness. We’ve got cars that’ll make you look twice, dad jokes that’ll make you groan, steak grilling tips worthy of your summer cookout, and a tribute to the kind of man who still holds the door without expecting the credit.

But this issue isn’t just about what men have—it’s about what they build. We’re raising the next generation of gentlemen—one dad joke, horsepower-fueled dream, and life lesson at a time. And it’s all happening in a city that’s coming together in meaningful ways.

Our networking events are growing, business collaborations are sparking, and more and more local legends are being seen, heard, and celebrated. Centennial isn’t just a zip code—it’s a place where connections are made, deals are done, and legacies are launched.

To all the fathers, mentors, business owners, and humble heroes out there— Happy Father’s Day. Thank you for showing up, stepping up, and doing the hard, quiet work that shapes our families and our future.

Here’s to the ones who lead with strength, serve with heart, and still find time to fix the garbage disposal.

With gratitude, good humor, and a high five—we salute you!

PS... Join us for this month’s Social Hour at Golf Haus on June 19th from 3–6 PM! We’re spotlighting Branch & Barrel (featured in this issue) and celebrating at Golf Haus, a golf simulator. Colorado-Born Bourbon, CRAFTED WITH INGENUITY

Nestled in eastern Centennial, Branch & Barrel Distilling stands as a testament to Colorado’s ingenuity, resourcefulness, and love for fine whiskey. Founded by friends Ryan, Tom, and Scott, the distillery began as a dream shared over construction sites and plumbing projects. What started as conversations between industry professionals with a shared appreciation for brown spirits evolved into a full-fledged distillery, handcrafted—quite literally—from the ground up.

After months of scouting, the trio secured a former auto body shop in 2015 and transformed it into a functioning distillery. Scott, with his background in plumbing and systems design, constructed the stills and equipment using upcycled industrial parts—everything from old condiment tanks to distilled water tanks. Their first still? A retrofitted Campbell’s soup cooker. True to their DIY roots, every pipe, weld, and innovation was done in-house.

Their flagship product, a high-corn Colorado bourbon, was born from both experimentation and dedication. The grains are sourced exclusively from within the state— Ft. Morgan corn and Monte Vista barley—and the water comes from 1,500-foot wells tapping the mineral-rich Arapahoe aquifer. Sustainability and locality are central to their process, as is ingenuity. Even their bottling line and screw press are retrofitted secondhand equipment, reducing waste while preserving authenticity.

Branch & Barrel: Bold Colorado Whiskey. No Shortcuts. No Compromise.

One of the distillery’s turning points came unexpectedly when their first hired head distiller had to leave on his first day due to an allergy. Stepping in was Rick, the building’s electrician, who immersed himself in the world of whiskey-making. Self-taught through a deep dive into books, manuals, and online resources, Rick’s passion and talent led Branch & Barrel to success, solidifying their belief in learning by doing.

By 2019, Branch & Barrel began earning accolades for their bourbons, with every bottle entered into competition receiving a medal—31 and counting, including multiple Double Golds. Their expressions range from the original Flagship Bourbon to creative releases like Plumwood, Honey Bourbon, and Café Miel. They’re known for pushing boundaries with unique infusions and collaborations with local brewers, roasters, and even a golf apparel company.

In 2021, they opened their tasting room, which quickly became a South Metro favorite. With an expanded cocktail menu, special events, and VIP membership club “The Shaded Grove,” the distillery became more than a place to sip whiskey—it became a hub for community and craft culture.

Branch & Barrel is deeply committed to supporting local artists, charities, and the broader Colorado creative scene. Through monthly charity cocktails, merch collaborations, and an upcoming artist showcase series, they are using their platform to give back while celebrating individuality and expression.

As of 2025, Branch & Barrel produces 500 barrels annually and continues to grow both in reputation and reach. With plans for sustainable expansion beyond Colorado, they remain rooted in the values that started it all: craftsmanship, creativity, and community.

From soup cookers to gold medals, Branch & Barrel Distilling is proof that when passion meets purpose, greatness is just a still away.

STEP 2

If you have a cocktail smoker, smoke the drink after mixing and chilling.

AWARD WINNING SPIRITS

STRONGER, SMARTER, SAFER: MEN’S HEALTH REDEFINED

Heart disease remains the number one cause of death among men in the United States. That may not be breaking news—but it should still be a wake-up call. For too many, the first sign that something is wrong is the heart attack itself.

That’s what makes the current model of care so frustrating. Men are taking their medications, showing up for physicals, and trying to eat right. They’re doing what they’re told. And yet, life-threatening events continue to happen—often with little to no warning.

For Corey Feldman, PA-C, a functional medicine provider in Colorado, one story in particular became the turning point.

Doug was 55 years old. A husband. A father of three. He’d just loaded his Costco cart for a family road trip when chest pain stopped him in his tracks. Doug wasn’t careless—far from it. He had a primary care provider. He was on five different heart medications. He followed the rules.

But that day, despite seeking immediate medical care, Doug's condition took a tragic turn-and he didn't make it.

“I’ll never forget the feeling I had and the revelation,” Feldman says. “Three young kids, and their dad never came home. That moment redefined how I approach cardiovascular care.”

For Feldman, and many others in the field of functional and integrative medicine, stories like Doug’s are far too common—and far too preventable. The issue isn’t just that men are at risk. It’s that the tools used to assess that risk are often outdated, incomplete, or overly generalized.

“Most men walk out of a physical with a cholesterol number, maybe some vague advice, and a return visit twelve months later,” Feldman says. “But that’s not enough. It doesn’t give them the full picture.”

That’s why more men are looking beyond the standard playbook. They’re not waiting for red flags—they’re asking better questions, demanding better data, and shifting from reactive care to proactive insight.

And the shift isn’t just about avoiding illness—it’s about living better.

According to Feldman, when men have real clarity about what’s going on inside their bodies, everything changes. They move with purpose. They train smarter. They recover better. They sleep deeper. They show up—not just for their jobs and their workouts, but for the people who count on them.

This isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about stacking the odds in your favor. About building resilience before something breaks. About trading uncertainty for strategy.

Men’s health is evolving, and providers like Feldman are helping guide that evolution by offering precision, depth, and individualized care where one-size-fits-all medicine falls short.

And for the women reading this—those who so often encourage their partners to take that first step—know that it matters. Feldman sees it all the time: men who walk in reluctantly and leave feeling empowered.

Because when you finally see the full picture, you stop reacting—and start leading.

UNLOCKING THE METRICS THAT MATTER:

1.

BLOOD WORK THAT ACTUALLY TELLS YOU SOMETHING

Standard cholesterol tests miss a lot. Feldman recommends these advanced markers for a more complete cardiovascular risk profile: Lipoprotein(a), Small-dense LDL, Oxidized LDL, ApoB & ApoA1, Insulin & fasting glucose, CRP, homocysteine, hematocrit.

CONTINUED >

2. DON’T SLEEP ON YOUR HORMONES

Hormones aren’t just about sexual health. Testosterone, cortisol, thyroid, and pituitary function all play a role in metabolism, inflammation, and cardiovascular health. Feldman often checks: Total and free testosterone,

"MOST OF THE MEN I SEE HAVE FOLLOWED THE RULES—TAKEN
MEDS, WATCHED THEIR DIET— AND STILL END UP BLINDSIDED. IT’S TIME WE STOP GUESSING AND START GETTING A COMPLETE PICTURE OF THEIR HEALTH."

DHEA, estradiol, progesterone, Thyroid panel (including antibodies and reverse T3), Cortisol (ideally with daily rhythm mapping), LH and FSH “When hormones are off, men feel off—low energy, poor recovery, brain fog, disrupted sleep. Most of them don’t know it’s fixable,” Feldman says.

3. IMAGING THAT SEES WHAT LABS CAN’T

Labs show trends. Imaging shows reality. Feldman recommends: CIMT (Carotid IntimaMedia Thickness) and Cardiac Calcium Score (CT). “I’ve had super fit 40-something-yearolds come back with a calcium score that raises eyebrows,” he says. “They had no symptoms. Without the scan, we never would’ve known.”

WHERE PASSION MEETS PAVEMENT AND STORIES PASS DOWN — FROM FATHER TO SON, BOLT TO FRAME, MEMORY TO MACHINE, RIDE RESTORED.

HORSEPOWER & HEARTBEAT

PHOTOGRAPHY BY
“BUILT WITH PRIDE, DRIVEN BY HEART AND HISTORY.”

Chrome gleams, engines roar, and somewhere in the rumble is a heartbeat. For a lot of men, cars are more than just a ride—they’re memories built on busted knuckles, late-night garage sessions, and stories passed down through generation.

In this tribute to local men and their machines, we salute the guys who never outgrew the thrill of the drive. These are the rides that stuck around—first cars that never left the driveway, dream machines pulled from fields and brought back to life, or restorations powered by family, friendship, and a whole lot of grit.

From a man who still owns the ‘57 Chevy Nomad he bought for $875 in 1971. Another turned a field-find into a street beast, to a son who will inherit not just a car but a passion, these stories are about more than engines. They’re about connection, determination, and pride.

This isn’t just about octane and engine size. It’s about pride. Loyalty. Legacy. Because when a man builds something with his own two hands—and shares it with the people he loves—it becomes more than a car. It becomes part of who he is.

These are the rides that rev our engines— and the men who give them soul.

“I hope one day it reminds him to slow down and appreciate life—just like this truck does every time we’re behind the wheel together.”

CHRIS LONGO - 1953 CHEVROLET 3100 OWNER, CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE

For Chris Longo, the search for the perfect vintage truck was a decade-long pursuit—one that finally ended in Yuma, Colorado. “It belonged to the son of the original owner,” Chris shares. “It still had the Kansas plates from when it was first built and sold in Western Kansas.”

A lifelong admirer of classic body lines seen in old movies and car shows, Chris fell in love with the timeless design of the Chevy 3100. But this particular model holds a unique place in American automotive history. “Because of the Korean War in 1953, no chrome was being produced. So originally, it had black painted bumpers and a color-matched grill,” he explains. “The only non-original parts now are the bumpers and grill.”

Restoration began in 2017 and was completed in late 2020, with a full frame-off rebuild and an emphasis on authenticity. “The hardest part was making sure every component was either original GM or properly refinished to factory specs,” Chris says. “Even the engine and driveline are completely resealed—just like it rolled off the line in ’53.”

More than just a restoration, the truck became a meaningful fatherson project. Chris built it with his oldest son, who helped choose the paint color and now loves cruising in it, whether it’s to Imagine Dragons or classic Michael Jackson. “I hope someday it reminds him of family, and to slow down and appreciate life.”

1953 Chevrolet 3100

From summer cruises in Highlands Ranch to the Castle Rock Father’s Day Car Show—and even serving as a Christmas photo backdrop at his church—this classic Chevy continues to make memories.

And the final touch? A 1953 Colorado license plate that “puts a bow on the restoration.”

“My wife made it possible to complete the car, and now my oldest son, DJ, is just as car-crazy as I am.”

1957 Chevrolet Nomad

DAN VONFELDT — 1957 CHEVY NOMAD  |  PROMAD

Some guys talk about their first cars with longing, wishing they’d held onto them. But for this Nomad owner, that was never a question. “Before I was even old enough to drive, I knew I was going to keep my first car,” he says. In 1971, he bought the 1957 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon from a coworker of his brother-in-law for $875, and never looked back.

It’s more than just a classic; it’s rare. Produced for only three years, the Nomad is known for its distinct ribbed tailgate, which first caught his attention over five decades ago. The restoration spanned about 10 years, a true labor of love shared with his brother-in-law, Kent Wilcox, who was hands-on from start to finish.

His passion for cars was sparked by three local brothers, Albert, Leo, and Gabe Guetlien, who raced a ‘57 Chevy when he was growing up. That early inspiration ignited a lifelong appreciation for horsepower and heritage.

Behind the wheel, he feels nothing but pride. That pride deepens when he shares the ride with family. “My wife made it possible to complete the car, and now my oldest son, DJ, is just as car-crazy as I am,” he says. “I owe them both.”

Though he’s not in a club, he’s a familiar face at shows across Pueblo and Castle Rock. And reactions from onlookers make it all worthwhile, especially when someone says, “My dad had one,” or, “I drove one in high school.”

If there’s a soundtrack to this story, it’s CCR’s “Ramble Tamble,” blasting as PROMAD rolls down the road—a nod to its pro-street styling and the decades of memories it carries

“This car’s a rolling history lesson— gangsters, the Depression. Now it’s got bullets, brass, and spiderwebs. Like me, it’s not for everyone.”

JOSH DEXTER — 1929 DODGE BROTHERS SEDAN POVERTY FLATS RAT ROD

After years of building cars from the ’50s and ’60s, this builder was ready for something earlier, and a search led him to a steel-bodied 1929 Dodge Brothers sedan in Pueblo. What began as a frame and a load of mismatched parts became a custom rat rod packed with personality. This car is more than metal; it’s a nod to American history. He often reflects on everything this car has “lived through”—the stock market crash, Prohibition, the Great Depression—giving it a soul beyond the build.

Influenced by his father, a talented welder and mechanic who was always helping buddies wrench in the garage, he brings the same energy to this ride. What makes the Dodge unique? It was a blank canvas, freedom to get weird. Bullet casings, brass stitches, spider webs, pinstriping, and a custom “Poverty Flats” logo (an homage to his childhood neighborhood) give it an edge that turns heads and sparks conversation.

The build took ten months, fueled by long, cold winter nights to make the deadline for his favorite show, Hot Rod Rock & Rumble. The rush was intense, but worth it. His wife loves the car too, often driving it to shows and calling it ‘a big go-kart’—just like the one from the classic children’s book Go Dog Go!

1929 Dodge Brothers Sedan

Now a proud prospect of the Junkies Car Club, he’s found a community that values family, charity, and great cars. Though he enjoys car shows, he’s a “go guy” at heart—burnouts, drag races, and oval laps are where he thrives. Reactions range from curious stares to compliments like, “I usually hate rat rods, but this one’s done right.” And that’s just the way he likes it.

ODE TO THE CRINGE: Dad Joke Royalty

Where Timeless Wordplay Meets Maximum Embarrassment— and We Love It!

The Cornball King!

David Simonson of Simonson Team RE/MAX Professionals proudly wears the crown with two dad jokes sure to spark eye rolls: “What do you call a factory that only makes OK products? A satisfactory.” And, “What did the ocean say to the beach? Nothing, it just waved.” Father of two girls — and plenty of puns! Simonsonteam.com

Let’s face it—few things are more groan-worthy, eye-roll-inducing, and  weirdly lovable than a classic dad joke. You know the type: puns so bad they’re good, delivered with unapologetic confidence and usually followed by a proud grin from dad (and exaggerated sighs from everyone else).

But where did these glorious punchlines come from? The “dad joke” as a cultural phenomenon is surprisingly timeless. Wordplay and puns date back to ancient civilizations—Shakespeare himself was infamous for sneaking puns into his plays. But the term dad joke didn’t make it into the public lexicon until much later. It gained traction in the 1980s, when a  Reader’s Digest article used it to describe the corny, harmless humor many fathers had become known for.

By the 2000s, dad jokes had become a genre of their own—celebrated, mocked, and meme-ified across the internet. What makes them so endearing is that they aren’t meant to impress—they’re meant to connect. A dad joke is a gentle, goofy way of saying, “I’m here, I’m listening, and I’m trying to make you smile.”

In a world full of sarcasm and cynicism, dad jokes are refreshingly pure. No edge. No insult. Just a pun, a pause, and a punchline that often misses… but in the best way possible.

So whether you’re a seasoned dad, a dad-in-training, or just someone who appreciates the fine art of a good (or bad) pun, we salute you. Keep the groans coming. Because if laughter is the best medicine… dad jokes are the vitamin C of comedy: not always requested, sometimes hard to swallow, but somehow still good for the soul.

CHRIS LONGO | CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE

Chris Longo, owner of Christian Brothers Automotive – Littleton/Centennial, is a proud husband and dad to two boys, ages 4 and 9. When he’s not fixing cars, he’s delivering classic dad jokes. His favorite?  “You guys wanna hear a joke about pizza? Nevermind... it’s too cheesy.” Perfection, served with extra cheese. cbac.com

JUSTIN HILL | APEX ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Justin Hill keeps things airtight when it comes to windows, doors, and—you guessed it—dad jokes. A proud dad to his nearly 3-year-old son, he shares this gem: “I never tell jokes inside the home. I’m too afraid the windows will crack up.” A little laughter goes a long way. Justin.Hill@apexenergygroup.com

DONOVAN WYGANT | AEONIC GARAGE

Donovan Wygant, owner of Aeonic Garage Doors, is a proud father of two, ages 12 and 5. When asked about his work, he doesn’t miss a beat: “How do you like the garage door business? I love it! It does have its share of ups and downs though.” A classic dad joke—well-oiled, cleverly hinged, and right on track. aeonicgaragedoor.com

NAM NGUYEN | ZONE GARAGE

Nam Nguyen, owner of Zone Garage, specializes in durable, eye-catching garage floor coatings, and classic dad humor. A happily married father of two, Nam delivers this gem: “My wife and I have decided not to have kids. The kids are taking it pretty badly.” His floors (and punchlines) are rock solid! zgdenver.com

Jack’s quick wit keeps the airwaves lively and his son laughing. This proud dad of one delivers a classic: “Did you hear about the Arapahoe County Jail heist? All the toilets were stolen. Detectives were stumped— they had nothing to go on.”  A true crime… with a splash of dad humor!

JAMES HUTCHISON | BUMBLE BEE BLINDS

James Hutchison is the proud dad to 11-year-old twin girls—and he’s not afraid to drop some deliciously nerdy wisdom: “To eat the whole cake would be the sin of gluttony. But to eat a whole pie is okay, the sin of pi is zero.” Math never tasted so good.

Shaken, Stirred & Social

WHERE TIMELESS COCKTAILS, WARM HOSPITALITY, AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT BLEND INTO THE PERFECT NEIGHBORHOOD LOUNGE

ARTICLE BY DANIELLE VONFELDT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY SNAPPY SPIRITS @SNAPPYSPIRITS

Step into Social Bar & Lounge and you’ll instantly feel it, rich leather textures, warm lighting, the faint clink of glassware, and the buzz of genuine hospitality. This upscale cocktail bar, nestled in Littleton Village, is the brainchild of Steve Cominsky, a seasoned industry professional with a passion for timeless experiences and elevated libations.

Steve’s journey to Social Bar & Lounge began decades ago, washing dishes in his parents’ restaurant as a teen. “I guess you could say it’s in my blood,” he reflects. From those early days to leading restaurant openings across the country, and consulting for budding restaurateurs, every step brought him closer to launching his own concept. In 2019, Social Bar & Lounge was born—just half a mile from his home, with the simple goal of giving suburbanites a sophisticated place to sip something great.

The inspiration was personal. “My wife and I would finish our Saturdays and want a good martini or Manhattan somewhere close. But there just wasn’t that kind of place nearby,” he says. Social Bar & Lounge filled that void—and quickly proved that many others had been looking for the same thing.

At the heart of Social Bar & Lounge is a clear vision: upscale, classic, and comfortable. From its signature Old Fashioned, crafted “just how they made it in the 1800s”, to the house-stuffed blue cheese olive vodka martini, every detail is intentional. The drink menu balances timeless standards with expertly crafted cocktails,

served consistently and generously. Pair that with ice-cold draft beers delivered via glycol-chilled lines and you’ve got a bar that takes quality seriously.

But what truly sets Social Bar & Lounge apart isn’t just the drinks or décor, it’s the team. “Our people genuinely care,” Steve says. “Hospitality here is real. Our guests feel it, and that keeps them coming back—and bringing friends.”

Every design choice, from the dark-stained wood to the plush seating and ambient soundscape, is made to create a space where guests can relax, celebrate, and connect. “We want people to feel important the moment they walk in, because they are,” Steve says. That sense of warmth and attention to detail carries through every visit.

Looking ahead, Steve’s goals are rooted in growth and community connection. “We want to be the first place people think of to celebrate a birthday, toast an anniversary, or just wind down after a long day,” he shares. “Social Bar & Lounge should feel like your neighborhood spot, but better than anything you expected.”

At Social Bar & Lounge, every cocktail tells a story, and every visit feels like coming home.

FROM FIRE TO FORK: THE ART OF THE PERFECT GRILLED STEAK

Savor the Sizzle

There’s something deeply satisfying about the sound of a steak hitting a hot grill — a primal sizzle that promises a meal both simple and sublime. As grilling season hits full stride in Colorado, we’re turning up the heat and diving into the secrets of the perfect grilled steak. Whether you’re a backyard BBQ hero or a seasoned grill master, this is your moment to shine.

THE CUT IS KEY

It all starts with the right cut. Ribeye lovers crave marbling, while filet aficionados favor tenderness. Ask your local butcher (yes, support local!) for a thick, well-marbled piece — preferably USDA Prime or a beautiful cut of wagyu if you’re feeling fancy. If your meat is frozen, thaw it completely and let it come to room temperature. Cold steak cools the grill and prevents the crust from forming—no one wants a gray, rubbery slab of beef.

SEASON SIMPLE

Coarse salt and pepper — maybe a dash of garlic powder. That’s all you need. Season your steak generously 30–45 minutes before grilling. This draws out moisture, dissolves the salt, and

creates a brine that’s reabsorbed to tenderize and flavor the steak from within. If you’re a marinade fan, keep it short and sweet — or better yet, try a post-cook compound butter with herbs and a touch of citrus zest.

GRILL MASTER MOVES

Crank up the heat and get those grates smoking hot. Sear each side for a few minutes, then move the steak to indirect heat to finish cooking. Use a meat thermometer (seriously, it’s not cheating) and aim for 130°F for medium rare — the sweet spot for tenderness and juiciness.

LET IT REST

This is the step most people rush. Don’t. Let your steak rest for 5–10 minutes, tented loosely with foil. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring every bite is juicy perfection.

PAIR IT UP

Finish the plate with charred veggies, a loaded baked potato, or local sweet corn. Bonus points for a bold Colorado red from Ladron Cellars or a cold craft beer to wash it down.

“Grill season is here, ignite the flame, sear the steak, and claim your backyard legend status.”
