THE WOMEN OF CELINA

I love any opportunity to recognize the women in my life who just make life more rich and beautiful. Our mothers and daughters are some of the most influential women in our lives. And of course with Mother’s Day this month, all eyes are on moms… But it’s not just the biological mothers but the mother figures in our lives who have made an indelible impact on us. It’s the family members, teachers, friends and neighbors doing amazing things in our community, pouring into our lives - making themselves unforgettable and irreplaceable.

Meet 5 women in our community who write a Letter To My Younger Self and impart wisdom and lessons learned over years of service to their families and community.

While it’s always important to shop local and support our area businesses, this month is the perfect time to patronize businesses owned by women in our community. That’s one of my favorite parts of this role - connecting with and championing the best of the best when it comes to Celina's women. These women are movers and shakers, builders and makers. They are both seen and unseen. Their silent service blesses those who are under their care. Their attention to detail in their work shows us something about beauty.

Meet the owner of Home & Hive and find out more about how to handle the bees and those pesky pests among us with a feminine touch. We also visit with Fidelity National Title to hear more about the women home buyers flooding our real estate market these days. And, take a trip with us to Lake Texoma to see women on the water with Freedom Boat Club!

This month, we celebrate the female business owners in our community. Some you might know and others we can't wait to introduce you to. They are making an impact in our area with their positivity, generosity and purpose. We highlight all of Celina Lifestyle's Leading Ladies in Business on page 42.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to send a text or make a phone call and catch up with the women in your life who deserve recognition. It only takes a minute to brighten someone’s day and remind them how much you love them.

As always, thank you for reading and we'll see you around town!

Sensational summer staycations are brimming at Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa in Frisco from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Monica Smiley, CHDM, Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa director of marketing, says guests can experience the SUMMER OF GLOW, an enchanting mix of rejuvenating activities, kid's crafts, happy hours and varied entertainment. Overall, weekend glow parties allow guests to play 9-holes of mini golf on a course lit up with neon colors or to gather around the glow of firepits to roast perfect s'mores. Every Saturday night, the resort hosts synchronized, mesmerizing drone shows in the sky.

“However, for Fourth of July festivities, the drone show will be on Friday, July 4, rather than Saturday, July 5,” she states.

This year, Glow parties are being hosted each Friday and Saturday evening, she adds. These include glow golf on the 10th Fairway Terrace, pool games, drone shows lighting up the skies and complimentary s'mores.

“While staying at Omni PGA, guests also can enjoy playing two 18-hole championship golf courses (Fields Ranch East and Fields Ranch West). Additionally, golfers can delight in The Swing, a lighted 10-hole, par-3 short course,” she says.

For more levity, Monica reminds that The Dance Floor provides a 2-acre putting course and entertainment area.

Furthermore, this active Frisco location offers four on-site pools, including an adultsonly rooftop infinity pool.

“The resort’s on-site Mokara Spa can be booked for revitalizing, full-service treatments,” Monica adds.

Experiencing different food cravings for the summer season? The site offers vast dining destinations for various hankerings, including  TRICK RIDER (signature steaks, seafood, shellfish dishes); THE APRON + BAR (creative Texas and California fare); THE LOOKOUT LOUNGE & BAR (inspired small plates, tapas, bar bites); TOAST & TEE COFFEE COLLECTIVE (breakfast and all-day, grab-and-go items); GREEN CACTUS CAFÈ (wellness-driven foods including light bites, healthy juices, elixirs, sweet treats); BLUESTEM BAR (vibrant cocktails and bold bites via a rooftop experience); LEISURE POOL BAR (pool-friendly handhelds, big salads, chilled sweet treats, vibrant pool mixology); RYDER CUP GRILLE (robust menu of classic American culinary favorites and cocktails); ICE HOUSE (beer, wine, cocktails); LOUNGE BY TOPGOLF (indoor sports bar with craft cocktails, chef-driven fare and fun, immersive atmosphere for golfers and non-golfers alike); MARGARET'S CONES & CUPS (gourmet coffee, ice cream, sweet treats); FIELDS OVERLOOK (savory bites, grab-and-go golf foods, ready-to-drink cocktails); THE BUNKER (grab-and-go handhelds); THE SWING BAR (walk-up beverage truck serving margaritas, cold beer on tap, bottled cocktails, easy-to-grab snacks).

WOMEN ON THE WATER

WITH FREEDOM BOAT CLUB AT LAKE TEXOMA AND LAKE LEWISVILLE

Few things evoke such potent and fond memories as family fun on the water. Kids in the water trying to survive with Dad driving the boat on those hot summer days. More and more, these same memories are being made with Mom driving the boat. According to Sue Wallace, owner of Freedom Boat Club, nearly 34% of their members are women boaters. “While women have traditionally been exposed to boating growing up, more and more women are ‘taking the helm,’ so to speak,” Sue continued. “Freedom Boat Club offers unlimited training, allowing all members to achieve a level of independence and comfort on the water.”

In recent years, North Texas has experienced a “boating boom,” with many first-time boaters joining the market, mainly due to the Pandemic. Families looking for safe, socially distanced activities that did not require travel found recreational opportunities on our local lakes convenient and affordable. As with any first-time endeavor, boating can be intimidating. In addition to concerns and details around insurance, registration, purchase, and maintenance, safety tops the list.

Sue notes, “We do all the upkeep of the boats from purchase, storage, maintenance, insurance, cleaning, and even fueling the boat. Our Coast Guard captained training program gives boaters, men and women, the confidence to operate our boats safely so having fun can be top of mind.”

In addition to making memories with the family, boating has proven a powerful networking tool in recent years. A growing trend is to trade in stuffy business lunches for a spin around the lake. With over 400 locations around the world, Freedom Boat Club allows folks to conduct business in practically any market. Networking also extends beyond the traditional business function. Many social groups have sprung up, giving like-minded individuals a new way to meet and form relationships. Your local Freedom Boat Club hosts a Women Boating Group with social outings and boat training in addition to networking opportunities.

The Texoma women’s group starts the season with a Ladies Brunch, including boat rides, on Sunday, May 18th, at 11 AM at the Point Restaurant. Both locations plan to host additional events such as wine floats, brunches, wine tours, and a beach party! For more information about the “women in boating” group or Freedom Boat Club membership, please contact texoma@freedomboatclub.com.

HOME & HIVE

Local Source For Pest Control And Bee Removal Services

ARTICLE BY SHARLA DAVENPORT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY KRISTI MURRY

Monica Walters was four years old when she first donned a beekeeper suit on her family bee farm in Princeton, Texas. This experience resonated with her so much that when reports of the honeybee’s decline surfaced in the early 2000s, Monica felt compelled to reconnect with her childhood passion.

“I started Home and Hive as a live bee removal business to help people safely remove bees from their homes while preserving the bee population,” Monica explains. “There wasn’t a local company offering this service—especially not one that was woman-owned,” she continued. Home and Hive began solely to remove honeybees and relocate them – not exterminate them. Monica worked with beekeepers and bee groups finding places to relocate bees. The part-time hobby quickly grew into a full-time business.

As such, clients inquired if Home and Hive could do other services, including taking care of wasp nests and other pest control needs. Monica notes, “We had the ladders, equipment, a lot of the same licensing,” but it had not occurred to her and her husband, Mitchell, to expand into the pest control side.

The couple knew the surrounding area had many reputable pest control businesses; however, Home and Hive could provide an additional unique service, thus they decided to expand operations in 2023. Mitchell left behind his corporate job to manage the pest control side making Home and Hive a true family business.

The Walters live in Celina with their young son, who is known to follow in his mom’s footsteps and wear a bee suit on occasion. Having lived in the community since 2017, they believe in the importance of shopping and referring local. “We constantly ask ourselves, ‘How would we want to be treated as customers?” Monica reflects. Mitchell agrees stating their biggest drive is how to achieve results, so customers say, “This is the best pest control business I have ever used!”

Their strategy is to use “big chain company” customer complaints as guidance of what they don’t want. The Walters can then create strong customer service, provide clear communications, plus offer an excellent pest control product. “We thought we could really thrive in that environment,” said Mitchell. “To live here and know people here, we felt like we could grow with referrals and serve the community as well. We want to be viewed as a quality brand,” he continued. It is one of the many positives of the community. “It is what keeps us up at night,” Monica reiterates. “What can

we do to make it better, structure it better for our employees and customers? We try to keep the same employee in the accounts, so the customer and technician build a relationship with one another,” she continued.

While both sides of the businesses are doing well, the pest control division operates separately from the bee removal service, ensuring that honeybee preservation is never compromised. Their eco-friendly approach extends beyond bees.

Home and Hive uses mosquito control solutions made from essential oils and other environmentally safe products, applying chemicals only in areas that do not affect pollinators. In addition to pest control and bee removal, the company also offers solutions for small critters like mice, rats, and squirrels.

Home and Hive is your local source for outstanding pest control and bee removal services. Monica understands many decisions in the home are made by women. As a woman-owned business, she understands the importance of offering a service that feels trustworthy and approachable. At its core, Home and Hive is about more than pest control—it’s about family, community, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

SUPPORTING WOMEN HOMEBUYERS

With Dana Draper And Her Team At Fidelity National Title

According to a recent report from the National Association of Realtors for 2024, single women made up 24% of firsttime home purchases last year. These firsttime home buyers are young professionals, single moms, or women who are single again through divorce or the loss of a spouse. More than half of single women buying homes are under 35. Most have a college degree, and 39% are people of color.

Dana Draper, Escrow Officer, and Jessica Smith, Relationship Manager with Fidelity National Title in Celina, joined us in a conversation about women in real estate in the Celina market. Their role is to help sellers, buyers, borrowers, realtors, and lenders facilitate real estate transactions. Dana related how she bought her first home as a single woman and enjoys mentoring women through home-buying.

Dana remarked, "Celina is a wonderful community that offers a welcoming environment for women looking to purchase their first home or are interested in investing in real estate." There has been a noticeable shift in the industry, opening doors for women developers and investors. Two notable

women-owned and managed companies in Celina are Olivia Clark Homes, founded in 2020 by Jennifer Johnson, and David R. Williams Homes, owned by Cyndee Herrin.

The Celina business community is a leader in supporting women in business. Dana shared how the Celina Chamber of Commerce and the Celina Economic Development Corporation support women's businesses in the area, including Celina Ladies of Influence. The community has systems and groups in place to support women new to the business or bring their established business to the community. Women on the City Council and the Celina ISD School Board support and encourage women to succeed in Celina.

Despite its growth, Dana explained that Celina continues to have the same small-town feel as when she was growing up there.

In the last decade, income and career compensation have reached parity, with women making salaries similar to men. Factors like financial independence and societal shifts have contributed to this equality, which allows more women to enter the real estate market alone. The continued increase in the cost of renting has also pushed more people into the homeownership market.

Women are increasingly choosing to buy new construction homes

rather than older homes or fixer-uppers. Dana highlighted that most new housing developments in Celina target families looking for their first home or those wanting to upgrade. However, she has also observed that communities featuring amenities like pools, walking trails, and pickleball courts are drawing interest from single women buyers. Additionally, neighborhoods with HOA-maintained landscaping and smaller lots that require less upkeep can be particularly appealing to these women. These communities offer a safe environment where neighbors support one another, which is an attractive quality.

The Celina real estate market is primarily driven by families relocating to the community. However, there is a notable opportunity to encourage single women, regardless of their life stage, to consider homeownership in Celina. Dana and her team at Fidelity National Title are prepared to facilitate this process.

SWIM CHAMPIONS

Celina High School Swim Team

Celebrates Success

Another Celina sports team that has made history is the Celina Swim Team. This month, Celina Lifestyle highlights the Celina High School (CHS) Swim Team.

The team started in 2017 but has grown and flourished over the last few years. Last year, CHS had a boy’s relay attend a regionals swim meet. This past February, Celina had a relay in the boys’ and girls’ divisions, participating in both regionals and state meets for the first time in school history. In total, Celina had five males and five females going farther than ever before attending region or state swimming meets.

Head Coach Ellyn Hewett is proud of the growth and success. “I have loved getting to see the kids set their goals and meet their goals,” says Hewett. “We keep growing and get more talented. Each year, the competition gets faster and faster, but we are starting to have times as fast as 5A/6A schools,” she continued.

It was that talent that brought home historic medals and victories

to CHS. This past February, Reagan Hix won the State Championship in the Girls 500 Yard Freestyle -- a first for Celina -- while Kate Heffernan earned a second-place finish in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke. Heffernan also earned a bronze (third) for the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle, and Hix gained an additional silver (second) for the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle.

Celina had other athletes participate in the state swim meet, including girls Iylana “Izzy” Whittemore (the only senior), Zoey Steinhaus, and alternate Corinne Bomberger. Akshat Pandey represented the CHS in the boys’ relay team.

Hewett appreciated the support of Athletic Director, Bill Elliott, and the community’s enthusiastic “State Send-Off” plus the orange water tower honoring the state champs. “Everybody was there for us,” she said.

Assistant Coach Carrie Keaveney also coaches the CHS swim team. The season runs from August through February. For information, contact Coach Hewett via CHS Athletics.

TUMAN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION FASHION SHOW

Pretty In PINK

Welcome to the dazzling world of the Pretty in Pink Fashion Show, a spectacular event hosted by the Tuman Breast Cancer Foundation. As a beacon of hope and a celebration of resilience, this annual fashion extravaganza stands at the forefront of supporting women within our local communities in their fight against breast cancer, seamlessly merging style and substance. The runway is transformed into a canvas where survivors and local community advocates come together, showcasing not just the latest trends in fashion but also the strength and beauty that emanates from those who have faced breast cancer with courage.

This year's Pretty in Pink was presented by Abbott's Frozen Custard on April 24 at 3R’s Ranch. The third annual event featured a stellar luncheon with Bianca Castro from NBC DFW hosting. It was followed by fashion sponsor Lily Claire Boutique and her ingenuity in design on the runway. Brands like Aveda, MAC, Jo Malone and Charlotte Tilbury were on site to offer the latest trends and classics to make women look and feel their best.

The Pretty in Pink Fashion Show is not only a fun event but also a vital source of support for the Tuman Breast Cancer Foundation's mission. Proceeds will allow the foundation to offer more services to women in their breast cancer treatment and recovery.

In addition to playing soccer, Grace also competes in track and is the current holder of the 100 meter hurdle (15.02) and triple jump (37’ 1.5ft) school records. When she is not competing, Grace is traveling around the world with family and reading. After graduation, Grace will attend the University of Texas at Dallas to play soccer and run track. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her! Congratulations to Grace Pritchard and her selection as the May Outstanding Student Athlete of the Month!

With everything you need to know including plant necessities and tastefully decorating your garden, we have you covered!

ARTICLE BAILEY MORRIS PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

TAKE COLOR INTO ACCOUNT

Decide on a color scheme that includes 2-3 colors that complement each other.

CONSIDER PLANT HEIGHT

When choosing which plants you will use, take into consideration how tall the plants will grow and place the tallest in the back.

USE THE RIGHT SOIL

Different flowers have different soil requirements. Make sure you check what soil will fit your plants' needs best.

SUN AND WATER REQUIREMENTS

Look at the location of the flower beds. Is it in a sunny area or a shady area? Depending, make sure you choose flowers that will thrive in that area.

INCLUDE A FOCAL POINT

Create a centerpiece with some fun decor. You can use a bird bath, fountain, or even an antique wagon filled with more flowers.

L E T T ER TO MYYOUNGERSELF

Our community is full of women as diverse and vibrant as the Texas Wildflowers. Celina is a haven of remarkable females whose stories of resilience, passion, and grace run deep. We asked a few of these ladies to share wisdom with their younger selves. We hope their advice inspires and empowers us all.

Dear Younger Me,

True contentment is not found in tangible things but in connection with others. When you find yourself thinking that you will be happy when you graduate, lose weight, get married, drive a certain car, or build your dream house, you will be searching forever.  Happiness is not an accomplishment or a destination. It’s not found in the big things but instead, it’s in the little things. It’s also only found in the present moment. Be still and pay attention.  There is beauty all around you every single day. You just need to quiet yourself and look around.

Some of your closest friends will become your family of choice. God places a few of these people in your life to fill the roles that are missing, be it a parent, grandparent, or sibling.

Never think you are too busy to see a loved one.  Work can always wait, but time with them may not always be there.  That’s a painful lesson to learn and one you can’t go back and change.

The void you are trying to fill in your heart cannot be quieted. It is there so that you will look up and lean into God.  Nothing else can fill, satisfy, or heal it.

Lastly, we are all born with everything we need to fulfill our purpose on earth. Don’t strive to find it, just look within.  Everyone has their gifts and can make a difference by using them.

Dear Younger Me ,

I know you’re full of ideas, energy, and dreams that seem bigger than life itself—and I want you to know that’s a beautiful thing. You are a force of joy and possibility, and the world needs that spark you carry. I understand the pull to seek new experiences and chase excitement but remember, it’s okay to sit still for a moment and reflect. You don’t always need to be moving to be growing.

There will be times when you feel restless or overwhelmed by the sheer number of things you want to do. You may avoid uncomfortable emotions or fear of being “stuck,” but those feelings, even the hard ones, have a purpose. Don’t shy away from them. They’ll help you understand yourself more deeply and guide you toward the most fulfilling paths.

You have an incredible gift for seeing potential, creating connections, and inspiring others with your optimism. But also know this: you don’t have to do it all at once. It’s okay to slow down, to let go of the need for constant excitement, and to focus on building something meaningful that lasts.

Trust your ability to create joy, but also trust that stability and depth will bring you even more peace and satisfaction in the long run. You are enough just as you are, and the adventure isn’t only in the next big thing—it’s also in how you show up, in the quiet moments, and in the relationships you build.

You’ve got this, and I’m so proud of the amazing person you’re becoming.

With love and support, Your Future Self

Dear Younger Me,

First off, just know it doesn’t have to be perfect and everything happens for a reason! I know right now it feels like you’re constantly fighting to prove yourself and question whether you belong. But let me tell you this—you do. Your perspective, your experiences, and your voice are not just valuable; they are necessary. One day, you’ll realize that the very things that make you feel different are the same things that will set you apart and make you unstoppable.

You will face obstacles that seem like overwhelming moments where you wonder how you’ll keep pushing forward. Surprise, you become a young mother, and you’ll be tested in ways you never expected. You’ll feel the weight of responsibility, the exhaustion, the fear of not being enough. But let me tell you, you are enough. You are stronger than you know, and every challenge you face will shape you into the resilient, unstoppable woman you are meant to be.

You will build a career in a world that wasn’t designed for you, and you will thrive in it. You will learn to speak with confidence, to command rooms, and to make decisions with conviction. You’ll inspire others just by showing up as your authentic self; always stay true to her! And when you look back, you won’t just see the struggles—you’ll see the victories. The moments you broke barriers. The times you proved to yourself (and everyone else) that you were more than capable. Through it all, never lose sight of who you are; your mom raised a strong woman. Hold onto your kindness, your integrity, and your fire. You are going to do incredible things. Keep going.

With love and pride, Future Tasha

Dr. Kelsey Wood, DC

Dear Younger Me,

Your life looks nothing like you imagined—and that’s the best part. That perfectly planned timeline? Toss it out the window. Everything will fall into place exactly as it’s meant to, in ways far better than you could ever predict. I know you think there’s a mold for what success should look like. But there is no one right way to do life, to build a career, or to chase a dream. Do it your way!

Remember how you dreamed of being an interior designer or a veterinarian? Well, surprise! You become a chiropractor, helping hundreds of people and families in your community live healthier, more vibrant lives. And beyond that, you become a mom—a role more beautiful, challenging, and empowering than you ever imagined. Nothing will grow you more, stretch your heart wider, or make you feel more alive than raising your son.

There will be moments when you doubt yourself— when confidence wavers, when you wonder if you have what it takes. But hear me now: You are enough. The moment you stop trying to be who you think you should be and embrace the person you already are, life will start to bloom in ways you never expected. And those disappointments? The friendships that fade, the doors that close, the moments that feel like failure? They’re all redirecting you to something greater. One day, you’ll look back and see how every challenge, every detour, and every unexpected moment was shaping you into the woman you were always meant to be.

But here’s the most important thing—slow down. Life isn’t a race to the next milestone. Stop rushing to “what’s next.” Soak it all in—the laughter, the struggles, the small wins, the ordinary days. These are the moments that make up a beautiful life. So take a deep breath. Right now is enough. And life is about to surprise you in the best possible ways.

Love

Dear Younger Me,

Life as you know it now is a chapter of a much larger narrative. What you see, the roles you fill, the loves you have, and the heartbreaks you endure are actually gifts in this chapter. Don’t rush through this part to get to the next chapter.  There is so much to savor, even those things that seem bitter, which are breaking up the dry places inside you that long to become fertile places of new growth and flourishing. Take time to be present in what is right now, as it will not be exactly like this again.

Listen to the desires and ideas that are deep within you.  These are a reflection of the uniqueness of you as you are created. Be open to ways to bring these creative ideas to life.  If you don’t, who will? And by the way, if those you trust the most can’t see your vision, give them a break, it was not given to them but to you for your flourishing.

As you turn one chapter and enter another, take time to examine the themes, instincts, and longings that have been a thread from the beginning.  These are glimpses of your truest self deep inside.  That part of you that is constant no matter what chapter you are in or what role you find yourself in.  It is the reflection of your creator that only you can bring to the world and it is always for good.

Your story is amazing and beautiful!  Drink in each moment,

Future Jan

RODEO CELINA IS BACK!

Celina has long been a “western” town. Established in 1879, farmers and ranchers built the town. However, it nearly disappeared in the late 1800s, with a population of just fifty in 1892. But after World War II, the town grew steadily, increasing from 1,051 residents in 1950 to 1,737 in 1990. Today it is recognized as the fastest growing city in the US with the US Census Bureau reporting 43,717 residents, a 27% increase over 2022. According to Celina Economic Development Corporation, projections indicate a potential population of 378,000 at full buildout.

Fifty years ago, families in the area attended weekly Celina Riding Club “playdays”: rodeo type competitions

for youth and adults alike. At that time, the arena sat by the railroad tracks on land owned by a cow trader. Playdays stopped in the late 1970s. But the desire to have a rodeo never lessened. As growth of the town explodes, many leaders and long-time residents feared the rich heritage of Celina would be lost. In 2023, Rodeo Celina, a PRCAsanctioned rodeo, was founded by a group of Celina civic leaders, business owners, and volunteers in partnership with the Greater Celina Chamber Foundation. It held its inaugural event at Southfork Ranch on May 31–June 2, 2024.

Rodeo Celina writes the next rodeo chapter in Celina, committed to sustaining and celebrating the community’s cultural roots. This event serves as a reminder of

the values that define the city’s cowboy culture and honors those who continue to live that heritage.  Celina resident Punk Carter, a lifelong cowboy who has always dreamed of having an indoor arena in Celina, said in 2024, “It looks like our dream is finally coming true.  Having this rodeo is just the beginning of that dream becoming a reality.”

Along with being an excellent competitive rodeo, Rodeo Celina is also a large-scale community celebration that captures the essence of Life Connected. Caleb Lavey, Rodeo Celina Foundation board member and Title Sponsor from Rex Real Estate stated, “Launching a rodeo is not about the arena we lack, but the spirit we harness. Let’s ride towards our dreams, dust off doubts, and raise funds for our youth and start turning our vision into an arena in Celina where champions are born.”

The upcoming Rodeo Celina, scheduled from May 30 to June 1, 2025, at Southfork Ranch, promises to be a celebration of talent, resilience, and community spirit. This year's event not only continues its tradition of

showcasing remarkable women in rodeo but also introduces exciting new features to enhance the experience.

LIBERTY CUNNINGHAM RETURNS

A highlight of the rodeo is the return of 14-year-old trick riding sensation, Liberty Cunningham. Hailing from Kansas, Liberty has captivated audiences nationwide with her daring stunts that blend horsemanship, dance, and gymnastics. Liberty Cunningham dreamed of being a professional trick rider since she was a toddler. At just 8 years old, that dream became a reality. She is a 3rd-generation rodeo cowgirl and comes from a competitive rodeo family known for training quality barrel racing horses. Liberty has ridden since she was a baby and began competing in youth rodeos at age 5. She was a Top 20-barrel racer at the National Little Britches Finals Rodeo in 2020 and has held several rodeo princess titles. At age 14, Liberty performs a unique signature act that features three disciplines – trick riding, Roman riding and liberty horse – and four horses. Her performances are a testament to her dedication and skill, inspiring many young enthusiasts. Reflecting on her role, Liberty expressed, "I am really excited to be a part of it, to inspire other little girls the way I was inspired."

BARREL RACERS: UNDETERRED BY CHALLENGES

Last year's Rodeo Celina was a memorable event, not least because of the challenging weather conditions. Despite a muddy arena, the barrel racers showcased their determination and skill, delivering thrilling performances that resonated with the audience. 2024 Barrel Racing winner Chloe Gray braved the mud to achieve success in the inaugural rodeo. The event's commitment to proceeding "rain or shine" highlighted the resilience of these athletes and the spirit of the rodeo community.

NEW ADDITIONS: CONCERTS AND BREAKAWAY ROPING

This year, Rodeo Celina is elevating the experience by adding two concerts to the lineup, promising attendees not only exhilarating rodeo action but also live musical entertainment.

JOSH WARD

Friday, May 30 | 10:00pm

It’s appropriate that Ward lead the lineup since he began his career in rodeo. While competing on the rodeo circuit, he would sing for fun. However, his talent was quickly recognized, and Ward made the leap from riding to singing. His debut album,  Promises, was released in 2011. And in 2019 he achieved a life goal when he released  Live at Billy Bob’s Texas, an album

recorded live at the world’s largest honky-tonk. His most recent album, Same Ol’ Cowboy, dropped earlier this year.

RANDALL KING

Saturday, May 31 | 10:00pm

A West Texas native and self-described “old soul,” King is a proud voice in the revival of traditional country music. His deep, rich tone and classic twang has helped him to amass more than 300 million streams with singles like “You In A Honky Tonk,” “Hey Cowgirl” and “Mirror, Mirror.” His 2022 major label album debut,  Shot Glass, landed on both Whiskey Riff’s Top 40 Country Albums of 2022 and Billboard’s All Genre 50 Best Albums of 2022 (So Far).

CONCERT TICKETS

The concert is general admission, and tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 3-10. Kids 2 and younger get in free. Tickets can be purchased at  RodeoCelina.com. Doors to the Oil Baron’s Ballroom will open at 9 p.m. each night.

Breakaway Roping is a new event this year. Entry registration opens in May and is expected to be a popular event.

FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN Kids Zone

Kids Zone opens in the air-conditioned Atrium at 5:00pm Friday and Saturday and 12:00pm Sunday. It will feature kids’ activities, food stations, bars and a place to sit and cool off.

Vendor Alley

Vendor Alley opens at 5:00pm Friday and Saturday and 12:00pm Sunday with western merchants including custom-crafted Rodeo Celina cowboy hats from Celina’s own, Caimey Hats Collection.

Rodeo Celina is proud to partner with Caimey Carter, founder and designer of Caimey Hats, to bring custom-crafted Rodeo Celina cowboy hats to our community. A name deeply rooted in Texas rodeo culture, Caimey is not only a talented artisan but also a highly accomplished horsewoman with a lifetime of experience in the arena.

Born into a legacy of horsemanship, Caimey rode her first cutting horse competition in Oklahoma at just three years old. From there, she built an impressive career, competing in youth cuttings across East Texas and securing multiple championships before

the age of 11. Her passion and skill continued to shine throughout her high school years, where she was a three-time Champion Girl Cutter in the Texas High School Rodeo Association Region IV and a state finalist in both cutting and breakaway roping.

After high school, Caimey turned her focus to mentoring the next generation, teaching western riding and cutting to students of all ages. Today, she continues to train horses and hold lessons alongside her father, rodeo legend Punk Carter, whose contributions to the sport and to Rodeo Celina are immeasurable.

As a fifth-generation cowgirl, mother, and dedicated horsewoman, Caimey is passionate about preserving and passing down the values of the western way of life. Her commitment to craftsmanship and tradition is evident in every hat she creates, and Rodeo Celina is honored to share her work.

This collaboration is more than just custom cowboy hats—it’s a tribute to a rich rodeo heritage, a commitment to quality, and a way to keep the spirit of the west alive for generations to come.

At the heart of this spectacular spread, a bouquet of floral offerings takes center stage featuring assorted chocolate florets, delicate white rose wafers, and salami and cheese blossoms. Perfectly crafted and delicious, they establish the visual and gastronomic theme for the entire display. Accompanying the spread are glasses adorned with edible floral rims, beckoning you to sip and savor the essence of spring; dried lavender, marigold, rose, lemon peel and lily garnishes provide vibrancy and are entirely edible. Elevate the visual appeal with rosefolded napkins and a sprinkle of seasonal flowers atop layers of fresh greenery.

Complement your floral artistry with a curated variety of cheeses, prosciutto, colorful olives, fresh blueberries and strawberries, and candied oranges. Fragrant rosemary bread is perfectly paired with choice preserves, honey and olive oil.

Extend the creative flair to pastries, introducing a variety of shapes, colors and textures. Citrus-infused sugar cookies, raspberry tarts, mini strawberry Belgian waffles and salted caramels are visually alluring and add an extra layer of delight to the overall presentation.

The beauty of crafting a charcuterie board lies in its versatility – an opportunity to showcase your thoughtfulness and create an experience tailored to your loved ones. Consider swapping chocolates for macarons, experiment with your own garden herbs and infuse your spread with unique seasonal and local flavors.  A charcuterTEA is a delightful way to make your mother feel extra special.
