Rooted in Strength, Blooming with Purpose
Spring is a season of renewal, resilience, and transformation—the perfect time to celebrate the strength and brilliance of women in our community. In this special issue, we highlight the journeys of inspiring women who have embraced challenges, pursued their passions, and built something extraordinary, not just for themselves but for those around them.
Our "Dear Younger Me" feature brings heartfelt letters from some of Broomfield’s most influential women, offering wisdom they wish they had known earlier. Their reflections remind us that growth comes through both triumphs and trials, and their courage in sharing these lessons is a gift to us all.
We also dive into the incredible story of Amy Hayes, whose mother-daughter summer project blossomed into Bloom Kitchens, a thriving business built on flexibility, empowerment, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Dedicated to providing moms with a flexible work-life balance, Amy created a business that allows women to pursue meaningful careers while prioritizing their families. Her journey is a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and community.
Jewelry is more than an accessory—it’s a reflection of cherished moments and personal history. Beth Paulson’s visit to Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield started as a simple desire to refresh her collection but evolved into a deeply meaningful experience. Through expert craftsmanship and thoughtful design, her treasured heirlooms were transformed into stunning new pieces, culminating in an unexpected and heartfelt vow renewal with her husband.
And finally, we step into the electrifying world of Shalee Summers, lead instructor at CycleBar Orchard Park Place. With every ride, she ignites a fire within her community, pushing them beyond their limits and helping them discover strength they never knew they had. More than a fitness studio, CycleBar has become a space of empowerment, resilience, and transformation—where music, movement, and motivation collide to create something truly life-changing.
These stories—and the women behind them—remind us that resilience, faith, and courage shape not only our personal journeys but also the communities we build. May this issue inspire you to embrace your own transformation, step into new opportunities, and celebrate the women who make our world brighter.

INFLUENTIAL WOMEN OF BROOMFIELD BLOOMING WITH WISDOM
PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARAH DAWN PHOTOGRAPHY
Vulnerability takes courage, and I am proud of the women who have opened their hearts to share their journeys. Like tulips blooming in the spring, their stories are a testament to growth, resilience, and renewal. In every season of life, there are lessons we wish we had known earlier—about faith, family, leadership, and purpose. In this special collection, influential women from the Broomfield community share heartfelt letters to their younger selves, offering wisdom shaped by both triumphs and trials. Their bravery and leadership help make Broomfield a stronger, more compassionate community. May their words, like the tulip—both delicate and strong— remind you to embrace your own journey with grace, resilience, and faith.

Dear Younger Me,
You are filled with wonder, eager to explore every corner of the world. Never lose that spark, but slow down sometimes. Savor the simple joys: the feel of clay in your hands, the scent of vegetables you grew, the rhythm of your feet moving freely. Create simply for the love of it. Not everything needs to be useful or perfect.
You will often feel the need to prove yourself, but remember: you are already enough. Your competitiveness, resilience, and outspoken nature—though sometimes seen as unfeminine in Japan—are actually your greatest strengths. Don’t soften yourself to fit in. Stand tall in who you are.
Fear and self-doubt will visit, but don’t let them linger. You are never too old or too inexperienced to start something new. Trust your instincts, even when others doubt you. You were made to shine— don’t hold back.
When motherhood comes, let go of the pressure to be perfect. Your child doesn’t need a flawless mom; he needs you. Be present. Sing him lullabies, share your stories, and cherish the little moments. Fill your own cup so you can pour into his.
Surround yourself with people who uplift you. Let go of what drains you. Life is an echo—what you give will return to you.
Above all, be kind to yourself. You will always find it easier to offer grace to others, but you must extend it inward too. Accept your flaws. Forgive yourself. You are worthy. You are enough. Let your light shine, just as it was always meant to.
With love and wisdom, Your Older Self

Dear Younger Me,
As I celebrate my 50th birthday, I look back at the journey that shaped me—the joys, struggles, doubts, and unwavering faith that carried me through. If I could sit with you now, I’d tell you this: Life is happening for you, not to you. Every challenge, every turn, is part of a greater plan molding you into the strong, compassionate woman you are meant to become.
Born a Christian Assyrian in Muslim, Ba’athist Iraq, I was an outsider before I even knew what that meant. Moving to the U.S. at six, I carried two languages, two identities, and a heart split between worlds. In the rush to belong, I lost parts of my heritage, but I never let go of my Assyrian roots. Hold on to who you are. Your voice, your story—these are treasures. The world may try to make you feel small, but you don’t have to shrink to belong. The right people will see your light and stand beside you. Let them.
Fear will whisper, but it doesn’t have to lead. You are worthy of every dream placed on your heart. Trust God’s timing—opportunities will come when you’re ready. And in business, true leadership isn’t about titles but about serving with clarity, conviction, and care.
Slow down. Laughter, shared meals, simple joys— these matter most. Presence is more important than perfection.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase—just take the next step. Clarity comes through movement, faith, and courage.
And most importantly: You are loved, you are guided, and you are never walking alone.
With love and wisdom, Me
EVA SAFAR THE ALTERNATIVE BOARD®

Dear Younger Me,
Always remain true to yourself and follow your heart. You are going to be okay.
Childhood will not unfold as you had hoped. Trust will be broken, and fear will take root, but let me assure you: none of it is your fault. You are not to blame for the hardships you endure. You will find solace in nature—a sacred refuge where your faith in God will deepen. His presence will embrace you in the rustling trees, the vast sky, and the open air. Be still. Let His grace strengthen you. This is where you will discover resilience, self-trust, and the unwavering truth that you are worthy.
People will disappoint you. Stand firm. Speak with conviction. And remember, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is walk away. Trust that God is guiding you. Following His plan will lead you to unimaginable joy.
Set ambitious goals. You are intelligent and capable. Focus on your education, and when you graduate from nursing school with honors, you will realize that God has prepared you for a purpose greater than yourself. You will thrive.
Live with gratitude. Care for your mind, body, and spirit. You will marry your soulmate and build a beautiful family. Raising a son with autism will change everything—you will grieve, but you will also love beyond measure. God has equipped you for this. Keep praying. Keep giving. Keep dancing through life. You’ve got this. Atta girl!

Dear Younger Me,
Life is short, as you know, so cherish every moment and don’t waste time on worries you cannot control. Pursue your dreams boldly and with confidence.
I know you’re curious about what the future holds, but let me assure you—you will succeed. Your blindness will not hinder you; rather, it will make you stronger, more resourceful, and deeply compassionate. Continue to speak up and advocate for yourself. You might not always feel understood, and the world may not always be accessible, but you will find innovative ways to overcome these challenges. You will face obstacles with bravery and earn the respect and opportunities you deserve.
There will be times when doubt sneaks in, making you wonder if you’re capable or if you belong. But with perseverance and the right support, you will build a life that is not only fulfilling but truly meaningful. You will find purpose, love, and joy in the most unexpected places.
Trust yourself. You are stronger than you know. And one more thing, don’t give up on music. You will regret it, because it is a powerful outlet and a vital way for you to care for yourself.
With all my love, Your Future Self

Dear Younger Me,
I know you have a plan. You’ve mapped out every step—college, career, family, success—all carefully laid out like a perfect blueprint. And I hate to break it to you, but life doesn’t follow blueprints. It twists, it turns, it crumbles, and rebuilds in ways you never expected. And sometimes, it feels impossibly hard.
There will be moments when you question everything—when the weight of disappointment, loss, and uncertainty makes you wonder if you’ve somehow taken a wrong turn. You’ll struggle, you’ll doubt, and you’ll ache for the plan you thought was yours. But hear me when I say this: life is unfolding exactly as it’s meant to.
The detours will shape you in ways the easy road never could. The moments you never planned— those late-night tears, the unexpected career shifts, the seasons of waiting—will give you strength, wisdom, and resilience. They will lead you to people and places far more meaningful than anything you could have imagined.
So instead of clinging to the plan, embrace the path—even when it feels uncertain. Trust that every twist, every challenge, every unexpected turn is leading you exactly where you’re meant to be.
And one day, you’ll look around at a life that doesn’t look like the blueprint you once sketched— but is far richer, deeper, and more beautiful than you ever dreamed.
With love, Me

Dear Ev, EJ, Jones, Ev Jones, Big Ev, Evelyn (age 16), If I could sit beside you now, I’d tell you three things that would set you free, help you grow, and allow you to embrace the incredible person you already are.
First, stop caring so much about what others think. I know it feels like the world is watching, judging every word, every choice, every outfit. But here’s the truth: what truly matters is how you see yourself and how God sees you. His love is infinite, unconditional, and full of grace. Let go of the constant worry—it’s not worth carrying. Pour that energy into serving others, honing your leadership, and nurturing your soul.
Second, learn to ask for help. Life’s challenges were never meant to be faced alone. In 2017, an accident left me unable to do even the simplest tasks. Asking for help felt humbling, but I discovered something beautiful—people found joy in helping me. Just as you love supporting others, they feel that same gratitude when they can be there for you. Asking for help isn’t a weakness; it’s love.
Lastly, invest in self-awareness early. Therapy, faith, and programs like the Landmark Forum will shape your life in ways you can’t imagine. The journey is richer when you dig deep now.
You’ll stumble, you’ll rise, and through it all, you’ll grow into someone I’m so proud of. Be kind to yourself. Keep learning. Keep believing.
With all my heart, Evelyn Walter (age 56)

Finding Your Groove at CycleBar Orchard Park Place
The Ride of
Your Life
There’s something about walking into CycleBar Orchard Park Place (OPP) that just hits differently. The lights are low, the music is pumping, and the energy is electric. The air hums with anticipation, and as soon as the beat drops, the room comes alive. For Shalee Summers, what started as a casual visit to check out a new kind of workout in Colorado eight years ago became a life-changing ride.
Shalee Summers
“The second I walked through those doors, everything changed,” she says. Now, as CycleBar OPP’s powerhouse lead instructor—and the one who led their very first class when the studio opened its doors in The Orchard in 2017—Shalee is on a mission to ignite that same spark in others. With every beat, climb, and sprint, she’s helping riders discover their strength, push past their limits, and fall in love with the ride.
This isn’t your average workout. It’s 45 minutes where your mind clears, your soul resets, and your body works harder than you thought possible. Imagine a theater-style room filled with riders moving in unison, the music perfectly synced to every pedal stroke, and a sense of camaraderie that’s truly contagious. “Inside those theater doors, I’ve seen people discover strength they didn’t know they had,” Shalee says. “That’s where the magic happens.”
But the ride is just the beginning. At CycleBar OPP, it’s not just about burning calories—it’s about building connections. “It’s more than a studio—it’s a place to be seen and heard, to celebrate milestones, and to support each other,” Shalee says. From cheering each other on to celebrating birthdays and accomplishments, this community feels like family.
For over seven years, Shalee has been clipping in, hitting the podium, and throwing the ultimate fitness party. Join the ride and see what all the buzz is about—you just might find your new favorite escape.
FROM GARAGE STARTUP to Blooming Success
Amy Hayes leads a flourishing business rooted in purpose and passion.
ARTICLE BY JULIE WALKER |
PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEN SEVERN PHOTOGRAPHY, THE HUMBLE LION PHOTOGRAPHY
Jen Severn Photography
Jen Severn Photography
Amy Hayes never imagined a summer project with her daughter would lead her to build multiple seven-figure companies within a few years. That simple project was a mother-daughter painting venture sparked by her daughter’s search for a job before college. With experience painting her own homes and cabinets and a background in design from owning a staging company, Amy suggested they take on a few neighborhood projects. What began as a way to pass the summer quickly gained momentum. Neighbors took notice, and requests soon poured in. But what Amy didn't expect is that her love for entrepreneurship, born from watching her father build his own successful business from scratch, would help her lay the foundation for the business in this early stage.
After her daughter left for college, Amy continued painting. Recognizing a demand for cabinet painting, she knew she needed help. Turning to her community, she reached out to fellow moms seeking flexible, part-time work. Fourteen women responded within hours, and Bloom Painting Company was born. The team started in Amy’s garage (much to her husband’s dismay), braving rain, snow and scorching heat as they refined their craft. Together, they built a business and a support system grounded in shared purpose.
Flexibility for moms was at the heart of Bloom. Amy ensured her team could start at 9 a.m. and finish by 3 p.m., allowing them to prioritize their families without sacrificing meaningful work. For many women, Bloom became more than a paycheck—it was a path to rediscovering their new mom-friendly career surrounded by community, leadership opportunities and new trade skills.
As Bloom Painting Company grew, so did Amy’s ambitions. Clients began requesting more than cabinet painting—they wanted complete kitchen transformations. With her “everything is figureoutable” mindset, Amy embraced the challenge, collaborating with skilled tradespeople and expanding her construction knowledge. This led to the creation of Bloom Kitchens, a design-build firm specializing in beautiful, functional kitchen spaces.
The path was not without its hurdles. Managing both the cabinet painting and remodeling businesses pushed Amy to her limits, as she was growing the remodeling company with only a carpenter and project manager. At a pivotal decision point, she prayed for guidance and felt a clear directive: move forward full force with Bloom Kitchens, with a strong team, an expanded business structure and a foundation of excellence.
“Flexibility for moms was at the heart of Bloom. Amy ensured her team could start at 9 a.m. and finish by 3 p.m., allowing them to prioritize their families without sacrificing meaningful work.”
Today, Bloom Kitchens operates a showroom and design center in Louisville. Amy has assembled an extraordinary team of women, including designers, project managers, a CFO and administrative staff. Each woman brings unique talents, and Amy’s dedication to empowering her team is evident. She firmly believes that when people work within their strengths, they find fulfillment and drive exceptional results.
Quality, customization and communication are pillars that Bloom is built on. From the first consultation to the final walkthrough, clients experience a seamless, transparent process. Each project has a dedicated point of contact, ensuring homeowners feel supported and informed every step of the way. Follow-ups are frequent, and the team’s attention to both style and functionality ensures every kitchen reflects the client’s vision.
Amy and her team foster genuine client connections, often forming lasting friendships. One example is the connection with clients Dave and Teresa that began during a large project in Spruce Meadows. On a challenging day, Amy shared difficult news about her daughter’s pregnancy. The couple, also grandparents, offered heartfelt support. Their bond grew throughout the high-risk pregnancy and birth, forming a lasting friendship. Amy and her husband recently dined with Dave and Teresa, and Erin, Bloom's Lead Project Manager, also remains close with them. This story reflects the deep connections Bloom fosters with its clients.
Amy’s faith remains a guiding force. She views her work as a reflection of God’s story of renewal—transforming the old into something beautiful and new. Every project presents an opportunity to create a sanctuary where families can gather, celebrate and find comfort.
Nurturing a supportive community is one of the most cherished values at Bloom. Amy is intentional about creating a workplace where women feel a sense of belonging. Bloom is a place of empowerment and mutual respect. “When we support and encourage each other in a spirit of female sisterhood, we thrive both at work and at home. We are empowered and secure in our belonging and purpose, and that spills over into everything we do. This is the community of Bloom,” says Amy.
The community continues to grow. This year, they opened Bloom Gallery, a beautiful new venue space for the community to rent out, and Bloom Décor, their own product line.
Bloom’s impact is undeniable. Clients enjoy revitalized kitchens, families gather in beautiful spaces and employees find fulfilling work that fits their lives. For Amy, the greatest reward is knowing she’s built businesses that uplift others.
Bloom continues to thrive, driven by Amy’s unwavering dedication to quality, her deep belief in community, and her commitment to empowering women— values that have shaped the company into a symbol of renewal and resilience. Amy says, “It has been an incredible journey—the hardest thing I have ever done, but also what has grown me the most and deepened my faith in powerful ways. I have an amazing team of women, and together, we’ve built Bloom into what it is today. We can’t wait to see what’s next!”

Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield Breathes New Life into Old Jewelry
ARTICLE BY KEVIN GETZ
PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARAH DAWN PHOTOGRAPHY
Beth Paulson looked in her jewelry box and knew she needed help. The operating room nurse enjoyed wearing jewelry, but her modest collection had grown stale over the years. Some of her older pieces were outdated, and she’d grown tired of others. She had recently inherited a ring
“Khristy has such an engaging and dynamic personality that I felt welcomed and relaxed in just a matter of minutes.”
from her mother, but while the stone was beautiful, the setting wasn’t her style. Beth had a dilemma. Should she sell or trade in the jewelry, at a steep discount most likely, to purchase something new, or find a way to use the best parts of each piece to make something beautiful and unique?
“It might seem silly, but I had an emotional attachment to some of those original pieces of jewelry, especially my engagement ring and my mother’s ring. I’d just lost her a few months earlier, and that ring was a comforting connection to her,” explains Beth, who has five children. “The stones were the most
important part of those pieces. But in their current settings, I wasn’t wearing them much anymore.”
Remembering a referral to Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield from a few years back, Beth decided to see what they had to offer. On her 50th birthday, Mark, her husband of 28 years, drove her to the showroom at 6343 W 120th Avenue. Beth didn’t know what to expect as they walked through the door. Khristy Nash, the owner and store manager, greeted them and quickly put them at ease.
“Khristy has such an engaging and dynamic personality that I felt welcomed and relaxed in just a

matter of minutes,” explains Beth. “She wanted to know about me, not just my jewelry.”
Beth showed Khristy the twelve pieces of jewelry that needed an update, and the vibrant professional with over forty years of industry experience eagerly accepted the challenge. She examined every piece and studied each of the combined 84 large and small stones under magnification. Then, Khristy developed a plan to showcase the diamonds in three new rings.
“Before going to the store, I was nervous about leaving all my jewelry there. How would I know if they switched out my stones with cheap imitations? But after spending time with everyone, all those fears were eliminated. I was excited to see and wear the new rings,” the Boston area transplant remembers.
Jewelfire’s in-house jewelers helped design the new pieces and produced a CAD drawing for Beth to review before any work began. The stones were carefully removed from the old rings, and the gold was melted down to make new ones. Finally, the jewels were set to complete the process. As a bonus, the artisan incorporated the remaining small diamonds into a delicate necklace.
“Jewelfire’s in-house jewelers helped design the new pieces and produced a CAD drawing for Beth to review before any work began.”
When all the pieces were complete, Mark and Beth eagerly returned to view the one-ofa-kind jewelry.
“Khristy presented each original piece individually, which made the experience even more special. Unbeknownst to me, Mark had called the store ahead of time. When Khristy produced the ring showcasing the diamond from my original engagement ring, she gave it to Mark first, who then got down on one knee and asked me to renew our wedding vows. It was magical,” she beams.
Beth now happily refers her family and friends to Khristy and Jewelfire Diamonds of Broomfield because of her experience. Her son-in-law Jack purchased an engagement ring for her daughter Ashley, and Beth’s brother-in-law Steve presented an anniversary ring from Jewelfire to his wife of 25 years.
“It’s a great place to go if you want a beautiful piece of custom jewelry,” testifies Beth, “and dealing with the staff is just as impressive. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!”

From Stem To Vase:
TRANSFORMING FLORALS INTO ART
Flowers have a rich history of symbolic meanings.
As far back as the 19th century, they were used to convey secret messages. Stories throughout history recount how flowers were used to send hidden messages between people. French publishers began producing flower dictionaries that cataloged the many floral codes that had been gathered over time. Some of these meanings were linked to the flower’s root name, often derived from mythology, while others were drawn from the flowers themselves. The colors, medicinal properties, and even the superstitions
associated with these flowers all contributed to the creation of this secret language.
In addition to their symbolic significance, flowers bring natural beauty to any interior, enhancing spaces with their color, texture, and mood-boosting qualities. Floral arrangements not only create a cozy atmosphere but also infuse a room with personality, elevating the overall ambiance. There are multiple ways to creatively integrate florals into your home, and whether using fresh or artificial flowers, creative displays can make quite the statement piece.
Florals and Fruit
Add an extra burst of color and texture to your floral arrangement by layering fruit around the edges of your vase. To achieve this, place a smaller vase inside a larger one, ensuring the flowers stay contained in the inner vase to preserve their shape. Fill the surrounding space with water and then arrange sliced fruit along the vase’s outer sides. For a fresh touch, add ice cubes to keep the fruit looking vibrant longer and to hold them in place. Not only will the flowers’ fragrance fill the air, but the citrus notes from the fruit will add a refreshing scent.
Hanging Florals
For a dramatic effect, try creating a hanging floral display. Floral cones are available for this style, or you can craft your own for a more personalized, organic look. The contrast between long-stemmed white flowers and a dark wall creates a striking visual impact. No matter how you choose to display them, flowers are a wonderful addition to any room. They boost mood, improve air quality, spark creativity, and bring a decorative charm to any space.
Flower Frogs
Using a frog to display flowers creates a minimalist yet elegant look that highlights the individuality of each bloom. It helps the stems stay in place. To set it up, place the frog on your chosen display base, whether it’s a vase, bowl, platter, or any container you prefer. Then, simply insert the flower stems by gently pressing them into the prongs. Tip: Flowers with sturdy stems and a lighter top work best in a frog, as delicate blooms tend to lose their shape more quickly.
