Just like this warm, sun-filled season has a way of bringing people together, we hope the pages inside this month’s edition will enrich and enliven your experience of the Nashville area this summer.

Skincare matters!
"We have so many clients that come to our practice for injectables They are committed to getting their Botox every 3 months or filler annually but they aren t investing in their skin health No matter what we do to improve the structures under the skin with injectables, a client is going to really look their best when their skin is healthy and vibrant Clients come in concerned about a specific line or wrinkle or spot but we all want to look our best and skincare is the first and most important step!
You are the driver, we are the educator
"Our consultations are really an amazing opportunity for clients to learn all of their options We offer a full line of injectable laser skincare and wellness services It can be overwhelming as well an investment Our goal is to share all of the options with our clients, educate and help guide them along their journey so that they are empowered to make the best decision to achieve their personal skincare and aesthetic goals Whether a client is ready to spend $200 or $2000 we want them to get the treatment that is going to give them the best result
Some times it takes a little, sometimes it takes a lot
It s really important to work with a provider that is experienced knowledgeable and aligned with your goals One that you trust There are times that we advise a client not to do a service or that less may be better and there are times that skincare and laser and injectables and hormone balance all together may be the best way to achieve a more restful natural and beautiful outcome Of course it doesn t have to happen all at once but with the guidance of the right injector and aesthetician the results can be so amazing It requires expertise, a relationship, a plan, sometimes patience and the willingness to walk the journey to amazing skin and a more youthful appearance

Darek Baskin, a licensed professional engineer, is Brentwood's new director of engineering. Lori Lange previously served in this position, before joining the Tennessee Department of Transportation as its assistant chief of engineering. Brentwood City Commissioners elected Commissioner Mark Gorman as the city’s new mayor. Mark takes over the position from Commissioner Rhea Little, who served two terms as Brentwood Mayor. Mark was first elected to the City Commission in 2013, and he served as vice mayor and as a representative on the Brentwood City Planning Commission.
Two Brentwood firefighters--Rose Aldrich and Robyn Thorpe--sprang into action when another person suddenly experienced a medical emergency in Indiana at the largest US fire service-related meeting. The emergency happened in a leadership class of 200 participants. “They took control of the scene, provided initial medical assessment and helped to transfer care,” says Fire Lt. John Russ. “You can imagine the difficulty in scene management with so many offduty medical professionals. They did an outstanding job.”
When Brentwood city officials recently tested outdoor tornado sirens, residents were able to rate how well they could hear these signals through a safety feedback and Tornado Siren Survey. The survey’s data is being used by a team of Belmont University researchers to map out where the sirens are heard clearly, faintly or not at all. Brentwood has an outdoor Tornado Warning System with 19 emergency sirens located throughout the city.

Houses, slides and obstacle courses add extra fun to any event
When Dane Daniels tried to rent a bounce house for a children’s party, he was frustrated with the lack of response, customer service and the difficulty in navigating various websites. “It took us almost a whole week to finally confirm something for a party,” he says.
As a businessman who has been involved with many successful start-up companies, he knew there had to be a better way. So he, along with his wife, Elise, founded Middle Tennessee Bounce House earlier this year. “We built a high-class website that’s super easy to navigate and use,” says Dane. “There are no hidden fees or surprises at checkout.”
There are even cool videos on the website that show how much fun these units can be and what people can expect when kids are inside of them. “We actually had one of our guys put on a GoPro and get into every single one of these units so people can get a really good perspective of what it’s like inside and to also explain the different features.”
In addition to bounce houses ranging from 13-by-13 feet or 14-by-14 feet, the company provides water slides that range from 12 feet all the way up to 16 feet, and are investing in even larger ones. These can also be used without water depending on the time of the year and type of event.
“We also have what we call combo units, which are both a bounce house and a slide, and those can run wet or dry as well,” says Dane. Another very popular option is the 35-foot inflatable obstacle course. And it’s not just children who find these inflatables exciting—sometimes adults even get into the action.
“Some of the larger units are conducive for adults, but every customer I've talked to so far has said their kids just play on them all day long. So, parents can just sit back and relax while their children are doing something fun.”
Inflatables are very much in demand for all types of backyard events such as birthday and holiday parties and are great for neighborhood block parties, too. They are also often used for public gatherings such
as festivals, farmers’ markets and church events. Of course, they can be set up indoors too, as long as the venue has a high ceiling.
“The blowers, or fans, that we use are really not that loud, so people can use them indoors without disturbing the party,” he says.
The couple, who have two children, 5-year-old Tennessee and 10-month-old Stetson, consider safety to be their number one priority. “We have very high quality units and we keep them extremely clean,” says Dane. “We sanitize them every single time before one of them goes out. We have very professional staff that shows up to your event and everything that is set up gets inspected. Also, when we secure it into the ground, we use at least 12 inches, if not 18-inch, steel stakes. And, we don't set up in anything above 15 mile per hour winds, so if there ends up being high winds that day, we'll fully refund the client.”
All of their blowers are brand new—they don’t send out any equipment that could potentially not run well or malfunction. Same thing for the generators that may be needed. “Anytime we're running off of our own power, we will have someone there on-site the whole time during the party,” says Dane. “We take that very seriously.”
As the weather heats up, he expects the demand for their inflatables will increase. If someone wants one for a party, he recommends booking it as soon as possible, but to also not hesitate if an event is coming up very quickly, even the next day. “If we have a unit available, we can certainly cater to that,” he says.
The couple believe they have solved the problems in the inflatables market in their area and are meeting the needs of those who want to rent them. “We have very competitive pricing, but we feel that our web presence is something that really sets us apart,” says Dane. “We’ve made it so simple; you shouldn't have to pick up the phone and call someone to confirm orders. They should all be automated, and that's exactly what ours is.”
“… every customer I've talked to so far has said their kids just play on them all day long. So, parents can just sit back and relax while their children are doing something fun.”
Of course, it would be hard for a lot of people to just pick up and start a business when they’re not happy with what’s currently available, but luckily, Dane’s background gave him the opportunity to make a difference. “My whole career has been operations-based. I've worked for multiple startups and started another company that has since been sold. My wife has a business background as well, so we're basically doing this together as a couple. She's helping a
lot on the customer service side as I focus on operations growth. During this season of life with our two little boys, we thought this might be an excellent time to start something like this.”
Middle Tennessee Bounce House, he says, has perfect Google and Facebook reviews. “We have five stars on both of those and have literally not received a negative review from anyone. We pride ourselves on that. We're very
“We care deeply for Nashville and for our community. We want it to do well and so when we see an opportunity to help make it better, we want to do that.”
focused on the experience and do follow up calls with clients after the event, which is very important.”
The couple’s faith is also extremely important to them, and they’re very involved in their church and community. “I'm a local native to Nashville—I was born and raised here— and although my wife is from Knoxville, she spent a lot of years here as well. We care deeply for Nashville and for our community. We want it to do well and so when we see an opportunity to help make it better, we want to do that.”
Today, Dane works full-time in the health care sector, but has also worked for a nonprofit that helped law enforcement with child exploitation and trafficking. “Helping children and helping families has been a big part of what I've been about for a long time, and this is just another avenue to do that.”
MidTNBounceHouse.com
A native of Nashville, Dane works in the health care industry full time, but he’s also been involved in several successful startups during his operations-based career. When he sees a need somewhere, whether in the business sector or his community, he sets out to find a solution. Today, he and his wife, Elise, who also has a business background, run Middle Tennessee Bounce House.

What's the 'big dill' this summer? Some would proclaim pickleball, the fastest-growing US sport that's like combining tennis, badminton and ping pong. This new game craze for singles or doubles is picking up social steam in the Brentwood area, too.
Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a 36-inchhigh net. Players use paddles, twice the size of ping pong ones, to hit a baseball-sized whiffle ball. It can be played inside or outdoors, is easy to learn in a popular "open play format" through which players can mix and match with dozens of others in a session, and can be recreational or competitive.
Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island near Seattle. Three dads whose kids were bored with their usual summertime activities are credited for creating this game. They reportedly named it as a sailing reference to the thrown-together, leftover non-starters in the “pickle boat” of crew races. Pickleball has evolved from original handmade equipment and simple rules into a popular sport with tournaments throughout the United States and Canada, and many European and Asian countries adding courts.
There are currently an estimated 36.5 million pickleball players in the United States, according to Association of Pickleball Professionals data released during January 2023. Pickleball participation has grown an average of 158.6% over the last three years, as indicated by Sports and Fitness Industry Association statistics.
The Pickleball Hall of Fame (PHOF) was established in 2017 as an independent nonprofit corporation. PHOF considers nominees from around the world, and currently inducts four members each year. There's also a Pickleball Magazine and Pickleball Channel.
American players aged 55 and older were the largest age bracket of pickleball players in the past two years, comprising 19.8% of total participants. Players aged 18 to 34 were the second largest age bracket, making up 18.5% of total participants. The average age of pickleball players is 38.1 years. Pickleball player growth was the fastest among players less than 24 years of age (21%).
Players wear anything breathable and comfortable for weather and temperature: athletic shorts, T-shirts, sweatpants, wicking apparel, athletic shoes and caps or visors when outdoors. A couple of paddles (composite or wooden), a pickle ball (perforated, hollow, plastic), a net and court is all that's required to play. New and used pickleball equipment is sold locally at Play It Again Sports Nashville, DICK'S Sporting Goods, The Tennis Store and online. Facebook.com/Marketplace/ Nashville/Pickleball-Equipment
Indoor Sports Complex instructor
Melissa Powell conducts group or individual pickleball lessons. as well as pickleball clinics. She's a Tennessee native who is an IPTPA-certified pickleball instructor. She's sponsored by ProLite Pickleball and is a 4.5 tournament rated player. Additionally, pickleball open play on Sundays from 1-5 p.m. inside the complex on the gym floor is offered periodically and can be a quick way to learn from more experienced players. melpet@bellsouth.net | 615.424.6424
Some “picklers” (as the sport’s fervent players are known) who lack dedicated courts on which to play have been resourceful and use painter’s tape to mark makeshift courts in driveways or cul-de-sacs, which are illuminated with vehicle headlights during nighttime games. Others sometimes mark with temporary tape pickleball court lines on idle tennis courts. There are four outdoor pickleball courts at the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way, in Brentwood. The fee is $10 per hour, with reservations being able to be made seven days in advance. 615.370.3471, extension 2110. WCParksAndRec.com (for additional courts)

With hundreds of people moving to Middle Tennessee and flocks of people flying to Music City each weekend to get their fill of live music, whiskey and hot chicken, a common question asked of locals is 'Where do we go and what do we do while in Nashville?'.
Nashville native Tom Adkinson answers those questions (and more) in his book 100 Things To Do in Nashville Before You Die. Tom witnessed Nashville as it's grown and flourished, having moved here with his family at a very young age. While many longtime Nashville residents resist the shiny and new, Tom says he has an appreciation for both.
"I enjoyed the Nashville of my youth, and I enjoy it now. It’s certainly different.Size, of course, is the most obvious change. When I was a child, the only—really, really the only—tall building downtown was the L&C Tower. Schools took field trips to its observation deck. Also when I was growing up, the
Tom Adkinsononly conspicuous ethnicities were Black and White. Nashville is much more diverse today, and that makes being here more enjoyable and entertaining. I’ve seen treasures saved (Radnor Lake and the Ryman Auditorium), attractions evolve (the Grand Ole Opry) and institutions engage in self-examination (Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage)," says Tom.
In the new edition of Tom's curated Nashville-centric bucket list, readers learn about the world's longest-running radio show, the Grand Ole Opry, and why Nashville showcases a fullscale replica of the Athenian Parthenon. Tom also dives into details of the historic Hermitage Hotel (and its world-famous men's bathrooms).
It's more than just a typical guidebook, also sharing Tom's personal preferences for dining in Music City. "My own favorite food choices include a meringue-topped pie from Miss Linda at the Elliston Place Soda Shop, a burger with grilled onions at Brown’s Diner, squash casserole at Swett’s and whatever I see first at Five Points Pizza," Tom shares excitedly.
"Nowhere else can you see the Opry, the Parthenon, the Hermitage, Fisk’s Van Vechten Gallery or a store celebrating Goo Goo Clusters (the world’s first combination candy bar)."
~Tom Adkinson
"My book’s suggestions steer you to memorable experiences such as family dining with strangers at Monell’s in Germantown, trying 'chili three ways' at Varallo’s (Nashville’s oldest restaurant), stepping back to the 1950s at Bobbie’s Dairy Dip, supporting a worthy nonprofit at the Cafe at Thistle Farms or easing out Highway 100 for fried chicken and fluffy biscuits at the Loveless Motel. These Nashville meals are ones you’ll talk about more than the pricey meals at the latest chef-driven restaurant."
For glitzier celebrations, Tom points to The Standard for dinner and ever-popular rooftop bars for worthy cocktails and city views alike. "Having a sunset rooftop drink is a newer Nashville experience that’s notable. Suggestions include the Westin, the W, the Bobby and the Grand Hyatt."
A Marco Polo member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and creator of CornersOfTheCountry. com, plus a travel writer for the Knoxville Daily Sun , Tom also spent time at Southern Living Magazine as the assistant travel editor, so the author is wellversed in telling engaging stories that encourage readers to go explore.
For summer in particular, Tom says, "Although many entries on my list are year-round, some shine in the summer. Outdoor music experiences such as a Full Moon Pickin’ Party, Musicians Corner in Centennial Park and Live on the Green are fine examples. So is a production of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. A totally fun time on a hot summer day awaits you at the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains at Bicentennial Mall State Park. Let the kids splash all they want and learn some Tennessee geography at the same time. Shoot, wear some clothes you’re willing to get wet and splash with the kids. Taking in a Nashville Sounds game is another solid Nashville tradition."
1. Dive into musical history at one of these four places–the Country Music Hallof Fame and Museum, the National Museum of African American Music, the Musicians Hall of Fame and the Jefferson Street Sound Museum.
2. See how Tennessee shaped American history at the Votes for Women Room at the mainlibrary.
3. Pick a meat-and-three for lunch. One nominee is the Elliston Place Soda Shop, where a milkshake is as good as dessert.
4. Get a cold beer and some free live music at a Lower Broad honky-tonk.
5. Find a songwriter showcase–and really listen–or see the Opry at the Ryman.6. Chill out with a latenight rooftop drink and rest your feet.

KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY
9175 Carothers Parkway Franklin, Tn. 37067
#1 Keller Williams Agent in the Southeast
Williamson County residents have an affinity for second homes. The affluent county is home to many individuals who seek to invest in vacation properties and second homes. And the allure of owning a beachfront or beach-access property has proven irresistible to many who value a coastal lifestyle. While some Williamson County residents opt for destinations closer to home, such as the 30A area of Florida, others are venturing farther afield to find their perfect getaway. Specifically, they’re venturing to the Abaco Club on Winding Bay in the Bahamas.
Tucked between gently swaying palms and azure waters on Great Abaco Island, Abaco Club by Southworth Development is an extraordinary private paradise. In this soul-enriching, 500-acre sanctuary of astounding natural beauty, families unwind in organic luxury at island-inspired
homes, golfers swing away on the No. 1 course in The Bahamas, anglers pursue trophy bonefish and deep-sea marlin in world-renowned waters, members gather for sociable fun and imaginative cuisine, and people of all ages relax and play on powder-soft, white sands along one of the most beautiful beaches on Earth.
Sound heavenly? Brentwood residents Stacy and Jeff Rothenberger couldn’t be more thrilled with their decision to purchase at Abaco Club. Jeff says, “For us, it checked all the boxes. I’m a golfer, Stacy’s a tennis player. It’s very social. We feel a part of something special here.”
The couple previously owned a second home in San Destin since 1998. They sold that home in October of 2020 and haven’t looked back. Stacy says, “We like the fact it’s not crowded like San Destin. It’s the culture here more than

anything else. The Club treats us so special. And the people here are just so nice.”
One can get to Abaco Club in under 3 hours. It’s an easy 2-hour flight from Nashville to Marsh Harbour, and a 25-minute car ride from the airport once landed.
Members, such as the Rothenbergers, not only enjoy the perennially ranked golf course, but an array of water sports, from kayaking, sailing, paddleboarding and snorkeling to spear-fishing, deep sea fishing and marine conservation. With a spa, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a fitness center, and a yoga “dock” that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, Abaco Club has everything. Restaurants on-site (including a taco food truck), a marina with a boat that takes guests to other islands, and an extremely helpful and accommodating staff round out the list of spectacular amenities.
There are a wide variety of private residential options—each one a comfortable, luxurious haven that’s a true reflection of its Caribbean surroundings.
Situated adjacent to the beach and in the heart of everything, these delightful, affordable one-bedroom residences are a low-maintenance alternative to an expansive Bahamas beach house. The freestanding, fully-furnished Cabanas are ideal for a weeklong stay, or as a guest house for Cottage or Estate owners who’d like to host visiting family or friends in a convenient luxury home. Prices start at $1.5 million.
Inspired by traditional Bahamian architecture, these turnkey Caribbean residences offer the privacy and flexibility of a single-family island home. The spacious three- to five-bedroom homes are perfect for entertaining family and friends—with panoramic views on both sides. To the east are dramatic vistas of the 18th hole and the deep-blue Atlantic Ocean just beyond. To the west, soak up unobstructed views of stunning sunsets and the sparkling, turquoise waters of Winding Bay. Given the collection’s prime location, club amenities are a short walk away, including the Fitness Center & Spa, The Cliff House restaurant, and Tip-Top sunset deck, pool and bar. Prices start at $2.75 million.
A true expression of thoughtfully designed beachfront living, The Cays is an exceptional limited collection of 36 private beachfront villa residences inspired by the wonder of Abaco and authentic Bahamian architecture. Combining early 20th-century Caribbean glamour with native island textures in sand, stone, and wood, each of the homes is carefully crafted to create an intimate connection to the beach through open spaces, floor-to-ceiling glass, wraparound terraces, and an artful merging of indoors and out. From inviting studios to grand 5,400-squarefoot, seven-bedroom homes, the residences offer uninterrupted views of Winding Bay and Sugar Cay. Prices for Villas start at $3.35 million; Beach Flats at $5.175 million and Sky Flats at $5.31 million. TheAbacoClub.com

Open since mid-April in the Cool Springs area, Mi Kitchen (pronounced mē) is already a wildly popular new restaurant destination among the Franklin and Brentwood area locals. Offering something new and different for Williamson County, Mi Kitchen serves up an interesting menu of modern Korean-inspired dishes with international twists. Most all plates are shareable, tapas-style portions that are excellent for family-style dining.
According to one of the owners, Tori, the restaurant's name, Mi, means “taste, beauty, and rice” in many Asian languages, and the owners all agree that they strive to embody these qualities in everything they do.
The owners/chefs moved to Middle Tennessee mid-pandemic from NYC, but all are originally from different cities in South Korea. Tori moved to the US at age 13, spending 23
years in New York City before realizing she needed a change. Luckily, Tori is a flight attendant, giving her the flexibility to live anywhere. Tori explains that they had a few cities in mind from Nashville to Austin to Tampa, but one moment of kindness made them realize that Middle Tennessee was the place. "I spent decades in NY, but the Korean part of me is welcoming and polite, so I'm naturally drawn to the fact that people say hi and help each other out here," says Tori.
But it wasn't easy as first-time restaurant owners and newbies to Nashville bringing a "different type of cuisine" to find someone to take a chance on the talented team and let them sign a lease. The owners saw several locations around Nashville and were declined before the Cool Springs-area landlord who was open to diversity in ownership and in food, gave them a chance.

"We are beyond grateful,” says Tori, and emphasizes that they are committed to serving the locals and adapting and pivoting to keep their Williamson County customers happy first and foremost.
With combined decades of experience cooking in restaurants in NYC, Tori's husband, Chef Nick, and Chef Yun are passionate about creating a culinary experience that goes beyond satisfying taste buds, also igniting all of diners' senses. Mi Kitchen's menu celebrates the diversity of flavors and ingredients found in Asian cuisine.
Don’t miss crowd favorite dishes including the crispy rice, which you top yourself with saucy spicy tuna, and the NY strip with delightful feta grits and cherry tomato kimchi. The Szechuan-spicy "Lucky Udon Noodles"
are excellent, too. People are also raving about the "k pop chicken.” For dessert, Chef Nick and Chef Yun deliver an excellent take on bread pudding.
Mi most recently introduced lunch hours and a curated bar menu of beer, wine, and soju cocktails. The "Capri Moon" pouch drinks are wildly popular, some with a light inside, perfect for a photo.
Mi Kitchen is currently open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday. They also do corporate catering and events.

Our summer fun round-up wouldn’t be complete without ideas for outdoor activities from REI. Here are their suggestions for the best equipment to experience them!
1. Running: REI is a one-stop spot for runners, carrying a wide variety of high-end running brands, including ON, Hoka, Janji, Rabbit, Altra, and REI Swiftland. The REI Swiftland MT trail shoe just launched and would be great for running the trails of Warner Parks or the greenways in Nashville.
2 Trail Running: The Janji Rainrunner Pack Jacket is an ideal product for the everyday trail runner. It's very lightweight, packs into itself, and has excellent ventilation. Janji was founded with the mission of expanding access to clean water worldwide. Here’s a bit about Janji: "We are a small, independent company manufacturing limited-run collections. We are far from perfect, but we hold ourselves accountable to continually improve how we treat people, the planet, and products to build a better company and industry."
3. Biking: The Nashville area and all of Williamson County have widely available access to greenways. REI has a full-service bike shop in the Brentwood store, and they service any bike, not just bikes purchased from REI, and typically have an under 36-hour turnaround time. REI Co-op members receive a great discount on shop services. As the city of Brentwood continues to work toward creating the Smith Park Mountain bike trails, REI has a great selection of bikes and mountain bike clothing to offer, selling REI Co-op cycles, Cannondale, Rapha, Pearl Izumi, and more!
4 Paddleboarding: Paddleboarding is an excellent activity for days spent on Piercy Priest Lake, Couchville Lake, or for water fun at Long Hunter State Park. It’s a great family-friendly activity and a great core workout. Don't forget your pups. REI sells both inflatable and hardshell paddle boards.
5. Camping: Camping offers a chance to disconnect from our phones and reconnect with our families. Long Hunter State Park is a short 30-minute drive from Brentwood and offers excellent hiking trails, backpacking, and camping areas. Long Hunter is right on the lake, with a few access points for paddleboarding and kayaking! The REI Wonderland 4 Tent is a great family camping tent for drive-up camp spots.

Named Florida’s Most Relaxing Place, picturesque Navarre Beach has everything you need to have a family vacation filled with fun and sun. Set along the sparkling emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico, Navarre Beach, Florida, is a hidden gem along the Florida Panhandle that's truly uncrowded, unspoiled, and unhurried. With its blend of crystal-clear waters, powdery white sands, and laid-back atmosphere alongside backwoods adventures begging to be explored, Navarre is the ideal destination for those looking to escape this summer, or anytime, really. Here are five fun ways to enjoy Navarre Beach and Santa Rosa County.
1. CANOE THE BLACKWATER RIVER!
Canoeing Santa Rosa County's Blackwater River is an unforgettable experience. Whether beginner or experienced paddler, the river offers something for everyone with picturesque scenery, abundant wildlife, and gentle waters. The river runs through the beautiful, lush landscape of the panhandle, winding its way through forests of cypress and hardwood trees. Along the bank, find abundant wildlife like alligators, turtles, and birds.
Head inland to Milton for a night and go glamping in Instagram-worthy tents or treehouses at the very trendy, boho-esque Coldwater Gardens. Friendly for all ages, guests can tailor stays to meet their own personal preferences. Tents are the classic glamping option, and with amenities like solar power, air conditioning, and private bathrooms, the experience is both comfortable and luxurious. Those looking for more adventure can opt for treehouses, which offer unparalleled views of the surrounding environment. The grounds of Coldwater Gardens are also filled with recreational activities, from swimming in the lake to exploring the local trails.
Santa Rosa County is a super spot to spot sea turtles. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the area provides plenty of nesting and breeding grounds for sea turtles. Many different species of sea turtles can be found in Santa Rosa County, including loggerhead, green, and leatherback sea turtles. To spot sea turtles in Santa Rosa County, it is important to know where to look and what to look for. During nesting season, which runs from May to October, female turtles will come ashore to build nests and lay eggs. During this time, you may spot the tracks these turtles leave behind. You might also spot the turtles themselves, either on the beach or in the water. Visit the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation, located right on Navarre Beach to receive hands-on experience and education for the importance of protecting the little sea creatures. (It is important to remember to keep a safe distance from any turtles you may spot, as they are protected animals in Florida.)
The Navarre Beach Pier is one of the longest fishing piers in the Gulf of Mexico, spanning more than 2,000 feet out into the ocean. This makes it a great spot for pier fishing, as anglers can cast their lines out into the deeper waters of the Gulf. Visitors to the pier can also enjoy surf fishing, with a variety of fish species including grouper, snapper, and tarpon. For those looking for a more exciting adventure, deep-sea fishing trips can also be arranged. Fishing on the Navarre Beach Pier is a great way to spend a day on the Gulf Coast. With its picturesque ocean views, it's hard to beat the scenery. Visitors can enjoy a variety of saltwater fishing activities, including pier fishing, surf fishing, and deep-sea fishing. With a variety of bait, tackle, and fishing supplies available at the pier, visitors are sure to have a successful and enjoyable fishing experience.
A perfect beach day at Navarre Beach, Florida would start off with a leisurely stroll along the beach, feeling the sand between your toes and listening to the calming sound of the waves. The sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful shade of blue. The crystal-clear water is inviting, and you can't help but take a quick dip. For more adventurous types, there's parasailing, jet skiing, and even scuba diving or snorkeling. Once the sun starts to set, it's time to relax and enjoy the beautiful views. Sit back with a glass of wine, and watch the sun dip below the horizon. After all, there's nothing quite like ending a perfect beach day with a stunning sunset.

also feel deeply the hard parts of life. It’s who I am, and I’m okay with it. I write from that place, and I’m proud of that."
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BOOK.
"Plus-Size in Paris is about being a fish out of water, and that water just happens to be the city of Paris. This story was inspired by my years living in Paris as a plus-size woman. It was hard living in Paris, not being the stereotypical and expected Parisienne woman. It’s an empowering story about staying true to yourself when everything around you feels contrary to who you are."
Erin Zurkin, Nashville native and world traveler, recently published her first book in the Plus-Size series, Plus-Size in Paris. She’s sharing the juicy details and her plans for this summer with City Lifestyle readers.
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.
"Buckle up because the story of who I am is an interesting one! I’m a writer, and now an author, a mother, a wife, and what I call a chronic expat but I’m also a forever Nashvillian no matter where I live in the world. There’s that great song by Brad Paisley called “Southern Comfort Zone.” I feel like I’ve been living that song for the past 16 years. I’m also a seeker of anything that brings light to my life and resonates within. On any given day that might be something completely different especially because I’ve lived in so many different cultures. But I’ve found no matter where you go in the world, people are inherently good, and life is meant to be real, happy, and joyful. I love deeply which means I
YOU’VE LIVED ABROAD FOR 16 YEARS. WHAT’S BEEN YOUR FAVORITE LOCATION?
"That’s a tough question to answer because everywhere we’ve lived, we’ve lived there long enough to feel at “home” so each place has left an undeniable mark on our hearts. It’s like asking which child is your favorite. I’d have to say the two that impacted me most creatively are Paris, France, and Dublin, Ireland. Those two locations are on creative fire."
WHAT WAS THE SPARK OF INSPIRATION FOR THE BOOK?
"I tell the story of how the book came to be in the book’s Acknowledgments. It was a moment of Big Magic as Elizabeth Gilbert writes about in her book by the same name. The title came to me completely from a place of me needing connection, wanting to find a sense of belonging, and not just fitting in. Once I heard that phrase, “plus-size in Paris,” come across my mind, I knew I had to build upon it somehow, someway. Seven years later and a journey that could be its own book, here I am with the book published. It’s quite a story."
"I’m looking forward to our summer in Brentwood! I’m writing book two in THE PLUSSIZE SERIES alongside all the fun book launch activities. I’m enjoying being present and feeling the love from all the readers for this book. There are so many readers that have gotten behind it and supported this story, and I’m forever grateful! I write to connect with readers so what’s next will be partially determined by their support. Then after some beach time, in mid-August, it’s back across the world to Seoul where we live now."
