The importance of a father is tremendous! Fathers make countless differences in their home and family. However, how much impact you decide to make as a dad is entirely up to you!
I feel incredibly blessed to have an amazing father presence in my life. Always supportive and consistently helping me to learn new skills, strive to be my best and achieve all that I can. For as long as I can remember he’s been facilitating adventures, teaching me new skills by helping me complete projects and goals, and instilling an amazing work ethic by watching how he worked throughout his life. The smallest interactions of letting me help change a tire, fix or build something, going fishing, hunting or camping, and just watching him work with his team and clients throughout the years taught me resourcefulness, resilience, problem solving, confidence and the beautiful lesson that I can achieve great things. As an adult, it's amazing to watch my brother and friends on their journeys as dads and to see the same experiences from an outside perspective... the one thing that continues to ring true is the extensive and never ending love that is portrayed through these interactions. Knowing in my heart how meaningful these seemingly small interactions are, and the vast impact they will have on their children's lives.
A father’s gifts of quality time, life-giving words, and positive actions have a long-lasting impact on his children.
As I reflect on fatherhood this month, here are just a few of the ways dads can build up their home:
• A father’s strength can be powerful
• A dad’s words can be fueling and inspirational
• Hugs from a dad can be deeply comforting
• A dad’s smile can instill joy and confidence
• Time with a dad can be fun and productive
• A dad’s knowledge and teaching can impact and inspire the rest of your life
• A dad’s guidance can be life-changing and foundational
• A father’s correction can be life-saving and life-giving
• Adventures with a dad can be exciting and memorable
Let your father or a father figure in your life know how much he matters to you. And if you are a dad, let us be the first to say — thank you. You are invaluable to the people who know and need you as well as the community around you.
Happy Father’s Day!
Cheers,

AmaltheiaSPECIALIZE IN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE, ON POINT
ELECTRIC BRINGS OVER A DECADE OF ELECTRICAL AND SOLAR EXPERTISE AND HIGH-QUALITY WORKMANSHIP
HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN SOLAR ENERGY, AND WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO ESTABLISH THE SOLAR DIVISION OF YOUR COMPANY?
Solar has always interested me. I have always been an independent person, and solar gives people a chance to be energy independent. I also have a wide history of different construction trades, which helps give insight into what will work best for the client's needs within their properties parameters.
ARE THERE ANY INCENTIVES OR REGULATIONS IN MONTANA THAT MAKE SOLAR ENERGY MORE ACCESSIBLE THAN BEFORE?
There is the 30% federal tax credit that property owners who go with solar do qualify for. Montana also offers a program that is called net metering. It is essentially a way to credit unused power that is generated, and pushed back to the grid. Montana does have the Montana Renewables Energy Association, which has been a huge supporter in helping keep solar affordable in our great state of Montana. OnPoint Electric also offers discounts for public workers, veterans, first responders, nurses, and teachers. If you serve our community let us serve you.
WHAT MAKES ENERGY INDEPENDENCE SO ATTRACTIVE?
Strictly that, energy independence! If you own your property, either land or a building with a roof, the sun most likely hits it every day. Why not harness that energy, wipe clean your power bill, and save money in the long term? Also, with the vast improvements of batteries, clients can have confidence in keeping their house warm, fridge and freezer cold, and lights on during outages. It is a win-win.
HOW DO YOU NAVIGATE THE BALANCE BETWEEN MEETING YOUR CLIENT'S ENERGY NEEDS AND OPTIMIZING THE SOLAR SYSTEM'S EFFICIENCY FOR MONTANA'S UNIQUE WEATHER CONDITIONS?
Montana is an incredible state for solar energy. Especially in Bozeman with an average of 300 sunny days a year, we have great potential for maximizing solar energy. Even with our heaviest winter snows, we still can get year round production and a power bill offset. We also take into consideration shading from trees, other houses, and we can usually find a way to make it worth-it for our clients, and if I can't, I will tell them that. Honesty is very important for us with relationships to our clients.
WHAT TRENDS OR TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS IN THE SOLAR ENERGY INDUSTRY ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
The industry is becoming more feasible for everyone to afford it. That, along with way more efficient solar panels, inverters, and the flexibility for a lot of systems to add batteries for outages, or time of use. It is an incredibly exciting time to be a part of this industry.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO HOMEOWNERS OR BUSINESSES CONSIDERING TRANSITIONING TO SOLAR ENERGY?
To go with your gut. Energy independence is a fantastic thing, but the client has got to want to be energy independent. Some like the “commonality” of paying a power bill, and not thinking about it. For those who are considering it, the biggest advice I can give is find an installation company that will treat you right and fair. With us, we take immense pride, and I want to be proud when I drive by a property, and I can say I did that system and it looks immaculate, and the client is more than happy.

Where do you go for men’s clothing in Bozeman? For a town that’s growing as quickly as ours, that question used to be surprisingly hard to answer. Especially if you rolled in for a fancy wedding and forgot your shoes, vest, or heaven forbid, the whole suit—what’s a gent to do? No longer does Bozeman have the Hartman Mockel menswear, Corral West Ranchwear, or Chambers-Fisher Company options of yore, those local destinations for getting a casual pair of jeans or finding dad that tie for Father’s Day. Fortunately, there’s a new sartorial sheriff in town.
Meridian Men is an elevated men’s clothing store at 107 East Main in downtown Bozeman, opened in July 2023 by husband-wife owners, Josh Bowden and Haley Connolly. The couple, who own Meridian Boutique, a sophisticated women’s clothing store just a few doors down, decided to open a men’s clothing store after years of planning and customer requests. Meridian Men offers distinctive men's collections, including everyday essentials like hoodies and tees, statement pieces and suiting, footwear, accessories, a small apothecary, and personal styling. With new arrivals every week, each piece is personally hand-selected by Connolly and Bowden, inspired by a desire to provide unique fashions for men with a modern yet Montana feel.
The selection of clothing found in Meridian Men truly is one of a kind. Even large department stores in cities may not carry some of the lesser-known and contemporary brands found here. “It’s all ready to wear,” explains Bowden. “We carry brands that are tried and true, like Rag and Bone and Double RL, a couple of our best. We have some newer lines, like Descendant of Thieves and Kestin, that are
more style-forward. We carry local designers like Beringia, and obscure Japanese denim like orSlow and Nanamica.” And for that guy whose suitcase got lost by the airline, or just wants a new dapper look, suiting is available at Meridian Men—separates can be tailored to one outfit.
Where the art-supply section of the former Phillip’s Bookstore once sat in the historic 1888 Nevitt building on Main Street, Meridian Men was most recently Silver Annie’s, a jewelry store owned by Phillip Arnold’s daughter, Jeannie. She decided to close her doors in 2022, after 30 years. “Jeannie and Silver Annie’s were such an important part of the fabric of downtown Bozeman,” says Connolly. “We wanted to keep her legacy going by having her jewelry in our men’s store.” To that end, Meridian Men carries many of her pieces, including turquoise, sterling silver rings, bolo ties, and necklaces. “Jeannie was here on our opening day; she’s been such a great support,” Bowden adds. “Carrying her jewelry is like having a little piece of her in here.”
Another thing in there is the cultivation of community. “When we were conceptualizing the space, we really wanted it to have a community element,” Connolly says. “We’ve had men’s groups meet here, we’ve had live music—we just did a great event with Beringia, where we played their promotional ski video on the wall, brought in sushi from Hooked, and created a totally different culture from some of the other events we’ve done.” Adds Bowden, “There are a lot of interesting locals that we want to showcase –we’re trying to invite that and be a community space.”
Even on a small scale, Meridian Men succeeds in providing this sense of community. It’s not uncommon for a father, for example, to come in for a certain piece, find it, and for his son to suddenly find something for himself, too. “There’s nothing more satisfying than a 70-year-old coming in and picking out a Billy Reid or polo Ralph Lauren shirt, telling us there’s finally a place for him to shop; that he’s seeing pieces for someone his age,” Connolly smiles. “That gets me really excited, for that guy to walk in and find something for himself.”
And the clothes at Meridian Men are indeed exciting; both Bowden and Connolly wear their inventory. “My wife can’t have all the fun,” jokes Bowden. “Men’s style is really intriguing right now – there’s a resurgence in men’s brands; there’s a lot of cross-over between men’s and women’s.” For anyone who likes to express themselves through fashion, both men and women, Meridian Men is a must.
“IT’S NOT UNCOMMON FOR A FATHER, FOR EXAMPLE, TO COME IN FOR A CERTAIN PIECE, FIND IT, AND FOR HIS SON TO SUDDENLY FIND SOMETHING FOR HIMSELF, TOO."
