Everyday Style, Local Spirit

Style in Boise doesn’t shout. It invites. It’s not about chasing trends, but about knowing who you are and expressing that in ways that feel personal, grounded, and intentional.

That’s what makes this city so special. Boise’s sense of style isn’t just seen in fashion or home design. It’s felt in the way people carry themselves, how businesses connect with customers, and how neighborhoods grow while still holding onto their roots. Whether you’re walking downtown past a wall of murals, biking the Greenbelt with a coffee in hand, or chatting with a local shop owner, you can feel it. Boise has a look, a rhythm, and a way of living all its own.

In this Style Issue, we’re highlighting the people who help shape that feeling. Designers, stylists, wellness experts, and entrepreneurs all contribute to Boise’s unique aesthetic. They understand that great style is never about perfection. It’s about connection. It’s about expressing who you are in ways that feel honest and inspiring.

You’ll find homes that feel layered and lived-in, fashion that balances confidence with comfort, and local voices who are shaping what style means in this evolving but deeply rooted city. The common thread running through it all is a passion for quality, creativity, and a sense of place.

As you explore this issue, I hope you’re reminded that style isn’t just about what we see. It’s about how we feel in our spaces, in our routines, and in our community.

Here’s to personal style, Boise style, and the beauty found in everyday moments.

A FRAGRANT FUTURE

Camille Beckman CEO Roshan RoghaniIshaq Shares How Brand Has Expanded

If you’ve got a style, Camille Beckman has a brand and products to match.

Hard worker who prefers floral scents? That’s Camille Beckman, with its glycerine hand therapy jars topped with hand-tied pink rosettes.

Love natural ingredients? Cosmic Body has your skin and hair oils.

Milk Jelli stores capture cuteness
“I’m just too family-aligned to not go into the family business.”

Adore cuteness? Milk Jelli has bath bombs, face masks, and fruity fragrances.

A FAMILY BRAND AND A BRAND FAMILY

Susan Camille Beckman Roghani founded Camille Beckman in 1986. Now her daughter, Roshan RoghaniIshaq, serves as chief executive officer of the Eaglebased cosmetics business.

“I’m just too family-aligned to not go into the family business,” Roghani-Ishaq said.

She’s expanded the company since taking the reins, founding both Cosmic Body and Milk Jelli.

“Cosmic Body for me is really about rebelling against the industry that I'm in, in a way that is loving and that is thoughtful and that provides a great deal of value,” she said. “I personally like to have really clean products and so I felt it was imperative we create a brand that was to the extreme of goodness. We purchase all of our oils direct from farming

relationships. Every ingredient is highly considered as to its agricultural relationship to the earth.”

For Milk Jelli, adorable was key. Starting online, the business had great buzz, but low sales. It wasn’t until Roghani-Ishaq tried a two-month pop-up in Boise Towne Square that Milk Jelli found its niche.

“I've always loved brick-and-mortar retail,” she said. “A lot of people say it's dead, but it's not. It's just that you have to elevate the experience. We built something that is like an aspirational TikTok girls’ bedroom where girls can come and feel like that's their home.”

The pop-up was a success. Now, Milk Jelli has three stores, one in Idaho and two in Utah, with two more planned in additional states.

IDAHO MANUFACTURING

Staying family-owned and U.S.-based has meant turning down multiple offers and suggestions to

Roshan Roghani-Ishaq and Susan Camille Beckman Roghani

move manufacturing overseas. Instead, in 2000, Camille Beckman opened a 105,000-square-foot factory and store in Eagle.

“I would never sell it,” Roghani-Ishaq said. “We've gotten crazy offers to buy this business, but I can't. To me, it’s like my mother's moral compass that is imbued in it, and so that is providing jobs in the community. It's taking care of people.”

Roghani-Ishaq is also passionate about her products and their quality.

“Susan's core values are really quality-oriented, people-oriented, and American manufacturing-oriented. We have to become makers again if we are going to be successful in the long run as a country. For me, it's a fine balance with focusing on American manufacturing, but then also having great relationships with the best labs and the best manufacturers around the world for things that don't get manufactured in the United States.”

BUILDING THE LEGACY

The 35 acres that house Camille Beckman’s factory also hosts Chateau des Fleurs. The Chateau is home to weddings, concerts, and themed afternoon teas.

“That goes with the Camille Beckman ethos,” Roghani-Ishaq said. “We will leave a legacy where people have a chance to create generational memories. And so that's the story of the building.”

Also in the Chateau is Roghani’s Restaurant, which serves European and Persian cuisine. The menu is a reflection of the family, tying together Susan’s European heritage with husband Foad’s Iranian culture.

“It's been really exciting to be a part of that,” Roghani-Ishaq said. “Being a little bit more fearless to show people who we are and how beautiful it truly is to be a part of a family like this.”

THE NEXT STAGE

With an ever-expanding product portfolio and new risks in front of her, Roghani-Ishaq is looking to continue growing with her mother's words in mind.

“‘Stick to your values and to find ways to work with what you have in front of you and do your best with what's in front of you.’ That's definitely my mom's advice. That's how she built this company. That's how we continue to build.”

Love What Welcomes You Home

ELEVATED CURB APPEAL BRINGS EVERYDAY ELEGANCE AND LASTING MARKET VALUE

As advised by health professionals across the board, I try to sneak in a few walks a day. Forever aiming for the 7,000 steps and up club, I wander aimlessly through my neighborhood, gaze lingering on bright blooms and slow-moving creeks as they wind through ornate entryways and around cobblestone steps. I imagine my future home—fragrant lavender blooms and clovers speckled around towering pines and old oak trees. I let my mind wander with my feet.

After 25 years in the industry, April Florczyk has earned her place in the top 0.02% of her market. She has solidified her status as a premier name in luxury real estate, with an eye for what truly draws the eye.

“Curb appeal sets the tone, tells a story, and instantly signals whether a property has been well cared for,” April explains. “For buyers, strong curb appeal creates intrigue and suggests pride of ownership. It can spark emotional connection, drive demand, and even trigger a bidding war.”

She continues, “On the flip side, neglected curb appeal can cause a home to linger on the market and invite lower offers.  At the end of the day, curb appeal isn’t just about looks, it’s the story your home tells the world about you and your home.”

But curb appeal goes beyond impressing your neighbors or prepping a home for sale. It becomes the creation of a space that feels welcoming, intentional, and truly yours. It’s the quiet satisfaction of pulling into your driveway and feeling proud of what you see. It’s the joy of seasonal flowers in bloom, the warmth of a freshly painted door, or the simple calm that comes from a tidy, well-loved yard.

Enhancing your home’s exterior doesn’t require a major renovation. Small touches like a swept walkway, trimmed hedges, or fresh mulch can transform the way your home

feels and functions. They elevate your everyday experience and create a visual rhythm that brings peace and order to the outside of your life.

“‘I wish I had done this sooner so I could’ve enjoyed it,’ is the most common thing I hear from sellers right after they cleaned up their curb appeal,” April shares. “So often, sellers make updates right before listing—fresh paint, landscaping, new fixtures—only to realize how much those changes improved the feel and function of their home.”

Sure, the updates add market value, but for a soon-to-be-seller, the reward is short-lived. April encourages anyone—whether you’re thinking of selling soon or not—to treat themselves to a fresh update, a curb appeal that both draws the eye and invites you home.

“Consider making those updates now so you can enjoy them and benefit from the increased resale value later. It really is a win-win.”

With nearly 30 years of experience, April has witnessed firsthand how small updates can dramatically shift a home’s atmosphere. Her advice on weekend projects without a high price tag: pull the weeds, trim the trees, prune the hedges, and do what you can to clean up the clutter. Sweep up the cobwebs and reign in the piling leaves.

Because at its heart, curb appeal is less about perfection and more about presence. It’s about creating a space that reflects who you are and how you live, one thoughtful detail at a time. Whether you’re walking the dog, hosting friends, or simply coming home after a long day, the exterior of your home is your first hello and your quiet welcome back.

So plant the lavender. Sweep the path. Get the new sconce. Not because you have to, but because you deserve to love what welcomes you home.

Flashlights, Flannels, and Fresh Air

Rugged charm meets relaxed elegance in this Idaho town where wildness and warmth coexist

When you're headed north on Highway 55, winding your way through the pines and hugging the rushing Payette River, there's a moment, somewhere above Banks, when everything starts to shift. The pace of life slows down. Your breaths get deeper. And that ever-present tension from the bustling city below starts to melt away. That’s just the beginning of McCall magic.

“When I'm driving up from the Valley, I start relaxing when I hit the windies (the curves above Banks),” shares Sarah Chambers with a smile. “And by the time I see the McCall Welcomes You sign, I'm completely relaxed and happy.” Sarah and her family have owned a home and property in McCall for over a decade, and while they primarily live in Boise, McCall has always been the getaway, the vacation, the family holiday. They are working towards the goal of becoming full-time McCall residents in the near future.

And like so many who find themselves drawn to the area, Sarah’s story reflects something deeper: a connection not just to a place, but to a way of life. It’s an atmosphere

where the wilderness becomes welcoming. Where flannel and fleece double as fashion statements. Where mud-splattered trucks and sleek lake boats park side-by-side at the same delicious brewpub. There’s a rugged sophistication to McCall’s style. Equal parts mountain-town grit and cozy cabin blankies.

The McCall vibe is all about balance: play hard, rest well. During the day, people are skiing Brundage, paddleboarding on Payette Lake, or biking through Ponderosa State Park. By night, it’s beers at Salmon River Brewery, a cozy dinner at Rupert’s, or marshmallows around the firepit with friends and family. It’s the perfect blend of adventure and connection.

Nestled by the river, Sarah loves watching her grandchildren splash in the water, make mud pies on the shore, and eat burgers bigger than their faces. “They’ve grown up here," she remembers fondly. "They’ve been here from the time they were a week old. It’s just normal for them to be in NaCall.”

In summer, the lake hums with boats and laughter. The streets are filled with farmers markets--fresh flowers and local honey.

The pace slows, the air shifts, and suddenly everything just feels a little easier.”

Credit: Visit McCall

There’s a pulse to the town that’s alive but never frantic. In winter, a hush falls. Snow blankets rooftops, ice skaters glide across the lake, and smoke curls up from every chimney. The holidays feel extra magical here, like a snow globe that sprung to life.

Above all, McCall’s vibe is welcoming. Families stay for generations. Couples sneak away for quiet weekends. Friends make memories around campfires and ski lifts. It’s a place that holds you gently and encourages you to breathe deep, slow down, and stay awhile.

So, when you see that Welcome to McCall sign, you’re not just arriving at a destination, you’re arriving at a state of mind. It’s where wild beauty meets warm comfort, and where the style isn’t about what you wear, but how you live.

COLLECTED, NOT CLUTTERED

DESIGN TIPS BRING COMFORT, COHESION, AND PERSONAL WARMTH HOME

Design expert Jamie Batson brings heart and soul to the spaces she touches, known for creating interiors that feel lived-in, loved, and layered with intention. At home, her favorite place to style is the living room—a space she considers “the heart of the home.” For Jamie, the key to making it shine is to “create an atmosphere that feels both inviting and cohesive.” A place where people gather, unwind, and feel like they truly belong.

Through her work at Dwell Home Co., Jamie stays closely attuned to evolving design trends and timeless style. She believes great design isn’t about chasing what's popular—it’s about curating what speaks to you. When asked about current accessories that help elevate a room, she recommends leaning into classic, beautiful pieces. Still, she notes, “block print pillows, décor with soft scalloped edges, and vintage art are definitely having a moment right now!”

When designing a space that feels “calm, collected, and connected to nature,” Jamie emphasizes the power of accessories. “Accessories are what make a space feel finished—they’re the final touch that brings your personality into the room. Warm neutrals, natural materials, and vintage-inspired pieces can provide a grounded feel in any room. Soft, patterned pillows to aged ceramics and stacked books, each detail plays a role in making the space feel layered—but never overdone.”

Vintage and sentimental pieces, she adds, bring soul and story. “Two of my favorite pieces include a small original abstract landscape by a local artist and a black-and-white photo of my husband kneeling on the beach with our son, who was just four at the time (he’s 17 now!). It was taken at Cannon Beach, one of my favorite places, and it’s a moment that holds special meaning for our family.”

Jamie’s formula for creating a space that you’ll love as much as she cherishes her own home design includes five key styling tips. First, varying the height and placement of items creates visual movement and keeps things from feeling flat. Whether it’s three layered books or a trio of objects on a tray, odd-number groupings feel more natural and balanced. Next, when choosing items to place together, mixing materials is another approach that will keep your styling from feeling one-dimensional and

“Your home should reflect who you are —not just what’s trending or expected.”

makes the space feel curated and lived-in. Think of layering different materials like wood, marble, metal, woven textures, and ceramics to add warmth, texture, and depth.

Repeating color, material, and texture provides cohesion to a space by echoing elements like a warm wood tone or a hint of green. This subtle repetition helps make the space feel connected and thoughtfully designed. To really make a room stand out, Jamie emphasized to think about contrast. Pair dark and light, soft with hard, or matte with shine.

Contrast brings balance and allows each element to stand out, creating a visually interesting and intentional look. Finally, when styling a room that is pleasing to the eye, the 2/3 rule comes to mind for Jamie. When styling a coffee or console table, aim for your styled grouping to cover about two-thirds of the surface. It strikes a balance between visual interest and function, leaving space for the eye to rest (or a morning cup of coffee).

Overall, Jamie and her team at Dwell encourage others to take that leap to make their home design tell their story. “Whether you’re investing in a new piece or finding a creative way to re-style what you already own, the process should feel inspiring—not intimidating. With a few simple principles and a personal touch, you can create a space that feels beautifully layered and uniquely yours.” | info@dwellhomeco.com

FROM MUSIC TO DESIGN, A Life Styled Beautifully

INTERIOR SPACES SHAPED WITH HEART, HISTORY, AND HANDCRAFTED DETAIL

ARTICLE BY MARTHA CHANNER
PHOTOGRAPHY BY HEATHER M. WEBSTER PHOTOGRAPHY

What do the mortgage business, the music industry, and high-quality custom interior design have in common? – well, that would be Traci Sansinena. A self-styled tastemaker who is exceptionally experienced in the brass of the business world and also honed by the clever creativity required to promote musical superstars. These days, Traci is passionate about being an entrepreneur and bringing that wide range of experience to Bespoke Interior Design.

“My involvement in the music business came out of my desire to be part of a creative world, but on the business side rather than as a performer.” Though Traci herself has musical talent, she found the challenge of helping artists become famous (or in some cases, even more famous) very rewarding. “I was exposed to wonderful art and artists. I also had the great good fortune to be in magnificent homes and venues that were done in amazing interior design styles.”

Traci thinks of those early years as good training for her latest success story. “I love fashion, which to my eye, translates into the visual beauty of interior design. Whether it is haute couture styled for a particular figure or beautiful furniture and fabrics for someone’s living room, the concepts are the same. The patterns, colors, and shapes have to work with the structure.” She goes on to say that she has always had a fascination with the unique and unusual. Hence, the evolution of her bespoke design house—one that caters to discerning clients and a coterie of Boise’s best designers.

For Traci, the creative process is as fulfilling as the final product. “Each space we work on is a chance to tell a story. I get excited about how lighting plays off texture, how scale affects comfort, and how one piece of art can set the emotional tone for a whole room. It’s both an art and a responsibility to create spaces that people truly love to live in.”

“I was born and raised here in Idaho, and I love this place. That’s why I returned here after living in San Francisco for the music scene. Even though I have traveled a lot and seen some incredible architecture and luxurious homes, my truest goal is to explore how aesthetic design affects health and happiness. We don’t just work with concepts—we work with individuals, their lifestyles, and their hopes and dreams. No cookie-cutter approach can give the same satisfaction as a home or business designed specifically for someone’s needs.”

Traci may adore high-end design, but her heart is all about serving Boise and the people she loves. “Along with great style, I am committed to providing quality and sustainability in the materials that my trade accounts provide. I encourage people to purchase future heirlooms, not throwaway pieces, and also to support local and U.S.-based companies whenever possible. I believe in keeping great design affordable and accessible, which includes custom options. You don’t have to be wealthy to enjoy bespoke design solutions.”

The team at Bespoke Home Design prides itself on excellence of experience. The 9233 W State St. Garden City location has a boutique feel—both sensual and professional. It is an intimate space that is immediately comforting and elegant. Traci and her staff provide the opportunity to enjoy and explore: an ideal mix

“My work in music and design both taught me this: people shine brightest in environments that support who they truly are.”

of helpful attention coupled with a deep calm that nurtures creativity. Clients are encouraged to touch fabrics, sit on furniture, and truly experience the textures and finishes they might bring into their own homes.

“I remember when I was working on designing my own home. I quickly realized that I needed help, and I started working with a designer. What made it a magical experience for me was finding the resources that I had no idea existed. Up until that point, I had struggled and wasn’t finding the right colors or quality to realize my vision. So when I brought Natasha in to advise me, a whole new world opened up in front of my eyes. It was a real thrill to co-create with her. She made my experience fun and purposeful, and the results were stunning.”

Traci has a great deal of respect for the trades in this town. “I can’t say enough about the wonderful resources that have been growing up in our area. I’m proud to promote them, and I always try to buy locally first.”

She also believes that design is never really finished. “Homes evolve as we do. New chapters, new needs, new inspiration. I love being part of that journey with my clients.”

It is people like Traci—with her mission to elevate every project into a wonderful experience—that make the Treasure Valley so special. “We are down to earth here, but there is no lack of style. This is still a very friendly town, and to me that is what makes all the difference.”

WHERE LEGACY MEETS THE VINE

Long before Walla Walla became synonymous with worldclass wine, it was simply the hometown next door for a young girl. I remember riding down Main Street in MiltonFreewater—waving from a float as a princess in the annual Pea Festival Parade. Back then, wine was just a whisper.

By the late 1990s, my husband and I had become budding wine enthusiasts—and Walla Walla had started to reveal its voice. It was one of the first regions we fell in love with, and we’ve returned ever since—witnessing a transformation as rich and layered as the wines

themselves. Every visit feels like coming home, yet there’s always something new to discover. That’s part of Walla Walla’s charm: the mix of familiar warmth and fresh momentum.

Today, those whispers have become a full choir. With nearly 170 wineries and just under 3,000 acres of vines, Walla Walla has evolved into a dynamic wine destination that’s not just rising—it’s arrived. Even  Forbes described it recently as “the ground floor of something epic.”

A small valley with world-class wines—where passion, place, and people create one of the world’s great wine experiences

So, is Walla Walla the world’s most underrated wine region? The answer may be yes. And it won’t be for long.

HEART, COMMUNITY, AND A SENSE OF PLACE

“When I chose to buy land and plant vineyards in Walla Walla, I knew the region could produce great wine,” says Echoland’s Doug Frost, Master of Wine and Master Sommelier—one of three in the world. “But it was the community, as much as anything, that cemented my confidence. It’s a place where winemakers collaborate and support each other in ways I have not seen anywhere.”

Why Walla Walla?

In Walla Walla, the soil tells stories and mountain breezes shape the vines; however, this valley offers more than terroir—it offers soul.

“We can grow almost everything here,” says Brandon Moss of Gramercy Cellars. “From Syrah and Merlot to Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc—it’s an open palette for winemakers. You don’t go many places where you find this quality in every wine you taste.”

Jean-François Pellet of Pepper Bridge Winery agrees: “The potential here is unlimited. We’re still learning what grows best, but the climate, the people, and the passion make it unlike anywhere else.”

Small in volume but vast in spirit, Walla Walla remains a place of connection, creativity, and discovery.

Walla Walla is four scenic hours from Boise to a memorable experience.

That collective spirit shows up in the tasting rooms, the vineyards, and the people behind the pours. It’s not just about selling bottles— it’s about sharing stories.

A VALLEY REIMAGINED

Once known for peas and sweet onions, the valley now generates over $500 million in wine sales and tourism, drawing nearly 750,000 visitors annually.

“Sometimes Boise can feel a little tucked away,” says Natalie Plummer. “So being able to drive just four hours and land in Walla Walla feels like discovering a whole new world. The rolling hills, intentionally designed vineyards, and genuinely knowledgeable winemakers make it a destination worth savoring.”

It’s also deeply photogenic—sun-drenched vines, blue skies, and golden light that seems to stretch forever.

OLD ROOTS, NEW VISION

Walla Walla isn’t new to agriculture—it’s been a fertile farming valley for generations. What makes its wine scene extraordinary is how it blends legacy and innovation.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see graduates shaping the region’s future,” says Winemaker Marcus Rafanelli of L’Ecole No. 41, a Walla Walla Community College alum and former instructor. “It’s a full-circle story that speaks to the quality and passion here.”

The result? Wines that honor the land, reflect the people, and continue to push the region forward—one vintage at a time.

Investing in Your Wardrobe Without Compromising Your Style

1.

IT’S POSSIBLE TO SHOW YOUR UNIQUE STYLE WITH NICE CLOTHES WHILE ALSO STRETCHING YOUR DOLLAR

One’s wardrobe says a lot about a person and it is important to dress to the occasion whether it be work or play while still expressing yourself. Building a wardrobe can be a costly expense but it’s possible to show your unique style with nice clothes while also stretching your dollar.

2.

A FUN, SUSTAINABLE WAY TO BUILD A HIGH-QUALITY AND STYLISH WARDROBE

Second-hand and vintage-style clothes are a fun, sustainable way to build a high-quality and stylish wardrobe without breaking the bank. Buying hand-made and second-hand also reduces the demand for new clothing production, which helps reduce waste and the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

SOME PIECES ARE SIMPLY BETTER WHEN THEY ARE SECOND-HAND

Some pieces are simply better when they are second-hand like worn denim and lived-in boots or leather that’s softened over time. Get creative and add touches to your old favorites with patches, embroidery, and even natural flower colors transferred to fabric. Grab your old t-shirts, family vintage fabrics, or lace, and pull it all together into something new and memorable.

CONTINUED >

SIMPLE, WILD, CLASSIC, COLORFUL;  DON’T BE AFRAID TO SHOW YOUR STYLE

The best way to keep your wardrobe fresh is to look for either trendy or classic new pieces and match them with your favorite vintage or second-hand pieces, like a new dress with your grandma’s old leather jacket or a recently purchased foundation piece with a skirt made from vintage fabrics. Simple, wild, classic, colorful; don’t be afraid to show your style and your financial fashion savvy at the same time.

My sister, Haley, used an 1800s petticoat and blouse, salvaged Edwardian style Christening gowns and a tablecloth, and other fabrics to create the most amazing vintage-style wedding dress. It was so perfectly her and absolutely gorgeous.   IT WAS SO PERFECTLY HER AND ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS

LIVING STYLE in

THE INTERSECTION OF FASHION AND HOME

INthis unexpected love affair, fashion and interiors are more than just a simple pairing—they are rooted in culture, creativity, and the human desire for self-expression.

As conscious consumers of the 21st century, participating in a retail landscape that is oversaturated and struggling to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the modern customer, our purchasing power should not only respond to a feeling of want but also prioritize items that reflect who we are and who we aspire to be. This is clearly visible through the representation of fashion and interiors.

Although we tend to consider cost-per-wear primarily when it comes to clothing, this same principle applies to furniture and the function it brings to the home. Aesthetics and functionality both play a role in this pairing, painting a picture for the rest of the world of who the wearer is and how they live in their space.

The woman who wears a blazer with sharp shoulders that makes her feel powerful in her everyday life—or the black dress that gives her a necessary boost of confidence—may naturally gravitate toward sleek, modern furniture that feels equally strong and elevates the space where the modern woman thrives.

In the same way, someone who prefers an effortless ensemble—like their favorite white T-shirt and comfortable denim jeans—may also look for home pieces that are functional and make their guests feel at ease. Even a handmade rug, one that sparks conversation about where it was found and adds a focal point to a room, mirrors how we search our closets for a sweater tied to a cherished memory.

Just as we carefully choose outfits to express ourselves, it’s equally important to ensure that our living spaces are designed

with the same intention. More than ever, modern buyers are making purchasing decisions based on personal morals and values, forming a new wave of consumers who seek products that are both high-quality and environmentally or socially con scious, whether for themselves or their homes.

The following imagery affirms that living a timeless lifestyle across all aspects of life is possible through the thoughtful styling of sustainable clothing and vintage furniture. As the modern retail landscape continues to evolve, it’s become increasingly vital to make conscious consumer choices—ones that allow us to express our truest selves through both our ward robes and the places we call home.
