Due to Covid we skipped our July issue and released our special sales/bonus e-book so I am delighted that we could bring you this November issue where our Celebrate Society members could connect, network and collaborate once again to inspire you for your 2021 celebrations! 2021, I know will be a year we will be keen to enjoy and come together to celebrate again! Our children who experienced smaller and perhaps lock-down and zoom parties will be able to once again party with their friends and family and I know that I am looking forward to it all!

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? I wanted to do something a little different from the usual farm/animal theme and loved the idea of a modern farmers market. It was also fun to include desserts made out like fruits to fill out our market stand. I also really loved the idea of brightening up a bit of an industrial theme using dried flower arrangements, bright balloons and streamers, and soft wood and white tones throughout.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? The main setup consists of the kids table and market stand as the dessert station, with a kids play area as well. For the kids table I was happy to showcase our new table setup although while I’ve been doing a lot of kids grazers lately I wanted to offer an alternative and instead each child was provided with their own lunch box full of personalized snacks. I was happy to go for a soft blue colour scheme to brighten this theme up instead of the traditional red colour scheme seen. The dried floral arrangements on the table I felt really brought it to life. The market stand was a great thrift find we painted white to suit, and was filled with the most gorgeous mix of fruit like desserts. It was also fun spreading this display out with the use of crates showcasing our party favours; choc chip cookie mixes, tarts and egg cartons full of treats. Backdropping the design was a stunning palette wall, with balloons and streamer hangs coming off it to embrace the rest of the setup. A highlight was without a doubt the kids play area which consisted of a range of kids play equipment including ball pit, rockers, bouncers and play jungle. Other stunning elements were the dried floral arrangements, our new ‘one’ mosaic number full of balloons and our gorgeous keepsake ‘N’ sign.
SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS A top tip for children’s parties is don’t get hung up on the theme. If your kid wants pirates, mermaids or farm animals, and it’s not hitting your bells – don’t worry! Make it your own by changing up the colours, or turning something old into something new. You can still get creative with any theme you or your child wants. I find the most popular parties are the ones that are a little bit different and that show off a colour scheme, or graphics or some other elements that otherwise hasn’t been seen before. Kid’s parties can be stressful when you try and keep track of the food, the kids, the big to do list. Just have fun with it where you can! 6

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? We live for Christmas and with all that 2020 has thrown at us we’re eager to make this festive season brighter than ever. We love working with traditional Christmas colours - they always give us those warm, fuzzy feelings and make us nostalgic for more simple times. Our favourite way to style is to keep things fresh and crisp so we opted for bright tones throughout in order to create a traditional feel with a modern twist. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, we go big on the little things like the 300+ decorations that adorned the tree or the layers upon layers of interesting textures and edible delights across the tablescape. All of which create a visual adventure that encourage people to look a little closer and get lost in the detail.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? The Deck the Halls signature tree styling is featured in this shoot. We used a process that we have finessed to create a sensory experience that invites people in to spend time discovering the detail - because the closer you get to one of our trees the more magic you will encounter. We are so thrilled with all the products supplied by the talented vendors with gorgeous items including personalised reindeer food and the most beautiful range of gift wrap. There are also several items that were made by vendors for the first time and specifically for this shoot including the mini chocolate-covered strawberry Christmas trees, the themed chocolate smash & the masterpiece of a multi-tiered, multi-dimensional reindeer cake.
SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS Take notes from your little ones - ask them what they visualise for their celebration and use those ideas to help direct your decisions. For example, I personally love the glitz and glam of all metallics but my boys associate Christmas with the quintessential red and green so our home decor is more traditional with a touch of metallic. Their ideal may not always match ours but there’s nothing better than seeing your child’s face when they walk into a space and they know that their ideas were heard. Consider what can be outsourced even if it means handing over some tasks to a stylist or family member. These events are meant to be enjoyed but you won’t if the lead up to the day is full of stress and running around. A happy and relaxed host makes for happy and relaxed guests!

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? My kids are absolutely obsessed with playing Roblox, so I knew I had to create a fun Roblox themed birthday party for the photo shoot. Roblox hasn’t been a theme which has been overly done yet, so I was inspired to create a cool, modern, fun and bright original concept for the theme. I planned it just like I would for my own kids birthday party with all the fun elements I knew they would enjoy at their party.
WHAT WERE SOME UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SET UP? My vision for the photo shoot was to create an on trend cool tech set up. When I envision the Roblox game I immediately get the feel of the pixels of the screen. Shimmer Walls are so on trend right now that the black shimmer wall emulated the pixels of the Roblox screen on device. I think the black Shimmer Wall really made the set up pop against the bright colours. Another unique feature was the Chill Out Zone for the kids to hang out and play Roblox together in. Just like kids would love to do at a Roblox party. I’m absolutely in love with the Roblox Wall I created using nothing but paper plates. It really captured the cool vibe I was aiming for. It can totally be re-created as an inexpensive DIY alternative to really make an impact as a backdrop.
SHARE OUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS. When it comes to organising your child’s party I think it’s important to choose a theme that they are really into at the time. I always ask my children what theme they like for their party. It’s important for the party to be something they want and something special for them. Looking back at all the memories of each year, it’s lovely to see how much they grow from each theme. Also once you choose a theme it’s important to start planning in advance and give yourself enough time to organise. Choose a venue or entertainment that you know the kids will really enjoy and try to cater for all ages of kids at the party to make the day fun and memorable for all. It’s also okay to admit if you’re just not one of those Mums that aren’t into planning or just don’t have time – you can hire an Event Stylist/Planner to organise everything for you to take the stress out of the day. Also at this difficult time in 2020 with all the COVID stuff, it’s okay to organise something low key with just a few friends at the park with some takeaway pizzas and a cake. Kids will appreciate and remember any effort, big or small. It’s not the cost of the party but it’s about making memories for them. 26

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? Lola loves Frozen and while watching it again I realized I want to remind people that one day Covid restrictions will be in the past, just like the theme in Frozen “The past is in the past, Let it Go!” I also wanted to show that you can have a party in a small space that will wow everyone and be fun.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? We had a very tight space to work with, and I had some amazing vendors helping me. We had a number of unique props like a light-up snowflake Lego cake-stand, a full size Olaf pinata, milk bottles with shining snowflake embellishment, beautifully crafted bubble wands, and much more. The massive backdrop provided by Pop Drops was brought to life with a beautiful balloon garland crafted by RubyJu Events. Sven the Reindeer was a massive hit with the kids, and nothing brings out the beauty of a castle like the plinth provide by Print Candy. The wands provided by Wonderland Parties and Loot Bags from Oh My Party made the guests feel welcome and appreciated. To top it off, all the kids had a great time playing in the “snow”, and Lola enjoyed a special video call from Elsa.

Keep the kids involved in planning the party to make the excitement last. Keep the kids who will be there in mind for activities. Using local businesses like party stylists, caterers, balloon stylists and prop hire can help to make the party more special and stress free! Another helpful tip to take out the stress of planning a party is managing the RSVP’s. These are my HOT tips: • T ry to send invitations early or at least 1 month ahead, people get busy and you don’t want to miss out on your child’s bestie coming. • T ry to set the tone of the event from the invitation. If you are having a beautifully styled event you want to express that in the invite. This also builds excitement for the party. • S end a reminder on the Monday in the week of the party to include date, time, location, theme, what to bring, and any other important information. Then the remind them again the day before. • R emind the guests the day before the party that you will see them tomorrow. Remember people are busy and even if they have reminders they can still forget 36

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? My inspiration behind the shoot is from the last year which has brought our focus back to our beautiful country. From the Bushfires that decimated our wildlife and our bushlands across the East Coast from late last year to Coronavirus this year forcing us to stay within our own borders and really appreciating our own backyard. I was also inspired by the Aboriginals and the beauty of their culture that should be celebrated in modern day Australia. I wanted to bring it all together to celebrate us in Australia, something modern, something coastal but also incorporating our sense of belonging to the land, celebrating our wildlife and our indigenous past, present & future.
WHAT WERE THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? Some of the unique features of the setup were the Noongar Kangaroo Track Shaker, tapping sticks and the Noongar Story stones Painted in Minang country by Kiya Watt and Lavinia Bennell-Aylmore. These indigenous story stones are painted with Noongar family mob symbols. They promote a greater understanding for Aboriginal heritage including literacy through storytelling and symbols systems. The Bob & Barb plate setting on the children’s table that can be reused. Our complete set is reusable and environmentally friendly as there are no disposables.
TOP TIPS • T ry to start planning from 3-4 months in advance to give yourself flexibility for any products that need to be created in advance. If you have a December bub, try and start around 6 months prior especially to book in your cake designer and cookies creator, coming close to Christmas and end of year celebrations you will find the best in their industry will always book out months in advance. • H ave a back up plan for outdoor parties. Even in the middle of summer there is no guarantee that you will be blessed with a perfect day. • Make sure you have a kit with you on the day filled with sticky tape, safety pins, blutak, scissors and bits and pieces you may need. We always carry our little white box for emergencies to ensure that if any hiccups happen we are able to get in and fix it. • I nvest in a photographer to take photos. The time goes so fast and you want to capture every moment and have those memories for years to come. • A t the end just enjoy the party. They don’t stay small forever, cherish every minute. 46

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? The inspiration for the shoot is DayDream Society’s Lola Dutch tableware collection. The collection is inspired by the Lola Dutch book series co-authored by Kenneth Wright and Sarah Jane Wright.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? There were a number of unique features of this setup. The original illustrations for the book were used with permission to create beautiful designs used for different elements of the party, such as for the backdrops, signage, cake, cookies, macarons, cupcake toppers, and favor box decals. The kids’ serpentine tables and bow chairs used were unique and added the luxury touch for the look aimed for. We also had other unique pieces, including beautiful crane floral sculptures, cool vintage furniture to match some of the furniture illustrations in the book series and a vintage-style gold swing for the cake display.

One of the major styling tips for providing a memorable party experience is to begin with a distinctive theme, including a unique color palette, or to put a unique twist to a popular theme. Use a space that works for your theme or creatively make the space work for your needs. It is important to weave in as many details as possible related to your theme. The details matter—big or small! Lastly, give yourself enough time to plan, think outside the box, be flexible, tell a story, and enjoy the creative process.

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION BEHIND THE STYLING FOR THIS PARTY SHOOT? My vision was to create a fun, Tween Glamping party at Mollies Farm in a BOHO Chic style aimed at Tween Girls. The Backdrop of the farm combined with a splash and pop of colour to create a unique, bright fun vibe in a safe setting and beautiful outlook.
WHAT WERE SOME OF THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS SETUP? Seeing all the elements come together with such a stunning backdrop on the farm with animals adding an extra dimension. Having the goats sneak up from behind for a nibble on the flowers whilst setting up the dessert table was a great laugh for all involved. SHARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR THOSE PLANNING CHILDREN’S PARTIES AND CELEBRATIONS. Great parties don’t always need to have a big budget. Putting together items at home with DIY printable stationery always helps. Making the theme personalised and unique helps it to feel special for the birthday child. Always plan and review…as this helps you not to get overwhelmed. Or outsource to suppliers and allow it all to be done for you.
