Nearly 40 years ago, we opened our first store in Breda, the Netherlands with a clear mission: to help our customers make the most of their outdoor spaces with garden furniture designed for comfort and relaxation. Today, we are the largest in the Benelux, with our furniture being sold across the world.

Under our former Benelux retail name, BuitenHof Tuinmeubelen, we proudly won the award for ‘Best Garden Furniture Retail Chain’ in both 2012 and 2013.

When you sit outside, besides comfort you also want a style that harmonises with the nature around you. Taco, a designer at Life, shares how he found this balance with the Lazio set and how his passion for travel fuels his creativity.
Taco is a true life enthusiast with a passion for design. His inspiration comes not only from furniture and travel but also from cars and fashion. Sometimes, it comes from unexpected places: from the rolling hills of Lazio to the clean lines of modern architecture.
“A great design starts with a practical idea,”
Taco explains as he sketches the Lazio set. “It must be functional but also blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. My goal was to create a set that invites relaxation while offering a visually striking aesthetic. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how our designs transform people’s outdoor spaces.”
A contemporary design for a unique outdoor experience.
Inspired by nature: the Lazio table & Bali chair
During a trip through the Lazio region of Italy, Taco was inspired by the organic shapes of the rolling landscape. “I incorporated those flowing lines into the design of the Lazio table,” he explains.
The rounded forms reflect one of the key trends he discovered at the Salone del Mobile furniture fair in Milan. With the Lazio table, Taco brings the best of interior design to the outdoors. Its innovative stonex material combines the robust look of natural stone with the lightness and durability needed for everyday outdoor use.
The organic feel of the Lazio table continues in the Bali chair, crafted entirely from sustainably sourced Indonesian teak. “With the Bali, I wanted to create a chair that not only radiates tranquillity and warmth but also offers ultimate seating comfort,” Taco adds. Together, the Lazio table and Bali chair bring a harmonious balance to your outdoor space, making them the perfect choice for Mediterranean, Japandi, or Scandinavian garden styles.
The Morena lounge is a luxurious teak lounge set that adds warmth and atmosphere to any outdoor space. The combination of teak and rope detailing in the backrest gives the set a modern edge. The Lima lounge is a luxurious, organically shaped lounge set made from aluminium and the innovative RuCore+. This thick rope is designed with a rubber foam core, a protective synthetic sock, and intricate weaving. The foam ensures comfort, while the water-repellent rubber provides protection. The synthetic sock prevents moisture build-up, allowing the woven structure to dry quickly and making it easy to clean and maintain. At Life Outdoor Living, we believe that truly enjoying the outdoors starts with conscious choices. Elles, Sourcing Manager at Life, works daily on making our garden furniture more sustainable – from material selection to production processes and collaboration with suppliers.
Sustainable teak
“All our teakwood is SVLK or FSC® certified,” says Elles. “This means it comes from sustainably managed forests, respecting biodiversity and local communities.”
Thanks to its high oil content, teak does not dry out and is naturally resistant to rot, making it ideal for long-term outdoor use. “The wood absorbs heat, does not splinter, and therefore ensures safe and comfortable use year after year.”
Respect for people and the environment
Sustainability at Life goes beyond materials. “Social responsibility is at the heart of everything we do,” Elles emphasises. “From fair wages and safe working conditions to respecting workers’ rights throughout our supply chain.”
In our workshop in Roosendaal, returned or damaged furniture is refurbished or carefully recycled. “We make sure nothing goes to waste,” says Elles. “From packaging materials to leftover wood, everything is processed to preserve valuable raw materials and give materials a second life.”

“The curvy trend, popular in interior design, has now made its way to outdoor spaces,” explains Sarah. “Organic shapes, such as round table tops and curved edges on lounge sofas, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. They soften rigid lines and bring a harmonious look to your garden. Additionally, they offer practical benefits, such as a safer environment for children. Through our collections, we bring this natural elegance outdoors.”

“A neutral base with beige and offwhite cushions remains timeless and stylish,” says Sarah. “To maintain a connection with nature, we incorporate decorative colour accents such as olive green and coral.
