Lerøy Seafood has a proud and unique history
In 1899 the fisherman farmer Ole Mikkel Lerøen started selling fish at the local fish market in Bergen Since the modest start, Lerøy has grown into a world class provider of highquality seafood, delivering 5 million meals daily
Lerøy is the leading exporter of seafood from Norway and one of the worlds´ largest producers of trout and salmon. With 6000 employees, Lerøy is operating in our global network within Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, The Netherlands, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, China, Japan, South Korea and the USA.
SUPPLY A TOTAL RANGE OF SEAFOOD PRODUCTS
We are proud to supply a total range of seafood products from Norway. This includes many different species such as salmon, fjord trout, cod, saithe, haddock and shellfish. We offer fresh or frozen whole fish, fillets, loins, portions and blocks with different trimming and cuts. Furthermore, Lerøy offers value-added products such as smoked, marinated, breaded and mixed products, all produced from one of our processing facilities.
Lerøy provides an excellent choice in sustainable seafood all year. We have production in every region of Norway, from the south to the north – even above the Artic Circle. Our salmon farming follows the best management practices, complying with both national and global requirements.
We serve the world with one of the safest, tastiest and healthiest proteins available while leaving the smallest environmental footprint possible.
Lerøy operates across three main segments. In Wild Catch, 1,000 employees manage 10 trawlers and 10 processing plants in Northern Norway, sourcing both from own catches and regular deliveries from over 600 coastal fishing vessels. In Farming, 1,800 employees run a fully integrated value chain for salmon and trout production across three Norwegian regions.
The downstream segment, Value Added Processing, Sales and Distribution (VAPS&D), employs 3,000 people across 14 countries, handling both the Group’s own seafood and products from third-party suppliers.
In recent years, Lerøy has sharpened its focus on its operating model and on setting clear financial, operational, and sustainability goals. By working together as One Lerøy, employees help drive synergies, share knowledge more effectively, and foster a strong, unified company culture.
