The Fjord Trout Series – Volume 1

The Fjord Trout Series – Volume 1
In 1899, a young man, Ole Mikkel Lerøen, sold his first catch at the Fish Market in Bergen, Norway after rowing for six hours. Now, Ole Mikkel‘s tireless effort and work has turned into a worldwide company with over 6000 employees, providing 5 million meals every day.
As one of the world’s largest producers of trout, Lerøy is proudly delivering Fjord Trout to 80 markets all over the globe.
The Fjord Trout is born and bred in the fjords of Western Norway, where the fresh glacial water embraces the Arctic currents. This gives the Trout a unique taste, nowhere else to be found.
Experience the unique pleasure of Fjord Trout – a premium fish that melts in the mouth and leaves you longing for that great taste, vibrant color and delicately fresh flavor. Perfect for raw, marinated, grilled, baked and lightly cooked dishes.
The pure essence of the Norwegian fjords
Fjord Trout truly embodies the essence of the Norwegian fjords. The fjords were shaped by glaciers: Endless stretches of deep blue sea piercing the rugged landscape, surrounded by steep green hills. Rivers crash down from the snow-covered mountain tops, passing bountiful fruit orchards stretching along the shores of Western Norway.
People have prospered here for thousands of years living off the land and the sea. Here the conditions are perfect for the Fjord Trout.
Fjord Trout is a celebration of nature‘s finest. It tastes like no other. With its smooth texture, deep red color and delicate flavors, it is the type of protein we should be eating more of. The Fjord Trout is rich in nutritious proteins, vitamins, omega-3 and antioxidants - all great for our overall health. Delicious, served raw or cooked.

Glacial meltwater is perfect for our fish and its growth. The water is rich in natural minerals and loaded with oxygen after being filtered through mineral-rich ground on the way to the plants.
Fjord Trout offers a flavor like no other. With its deep red color, smooth, velvety texture, and subtle notes of green nuts and citrus, it is truly one of Norway’s best-kept culinary secrets.
Enjoy it raw to experience its delicate freshness, beautifully complemented by mango, avocado, lime, or a touch of soy sauce. You can also give it a quick sear on the grill and serve it with spicy piri-piri sauce and a dollop of crème fraîche.
Texture & Appearance
Fjord Trout is firm, yet tender and melts in the mouth. Its short muscle fibers create a smooth, velvety texture and a luxurious mouthfeel. Fjord Trout has bright, silvery skin, a small head, and a naturally rounded belly. It stands out both visually and in quality.
Oil content & color
Vibrant red color, beautifully marbled with fine fat lines give the Fjord Trout a juicy, delicate consistency. Most of the healthy fat is concentrated in the belly, producing a rich, generous fillet. Naturally high in Omega-3 and vitamin B12, it is as nutritious as it is flavorful.
Preparation
Perfect for raw, marinated, grilled, baked and lightly cooked dishes. Whether you are preparing tapas, sushi, sashimi, or tartare, the Fjord Trout offers exceptional versatility and refined taste.
