Katie and Andy’s Story

New Owners of Inverleigh General Store, and more...............

The day that the For Sale sign went up on the Inverleigh Store was a momentous one for Katie Myers and Andy Leeson. A hard-working Inverleigh couple with two teenagers, they were happily busy with work, family, home, and interests. News of the sign was intriguing, so they stopped for a look as they were heading out to Geelong. The idea of buying the store was a joke at first, but by the time they reached Murgheboluc, they knew that they had to make a phone call to the then owners, David Andueza and Tracey Mossop, to find out more.

Katie’s early life was spent in England with her mother and brother, Michael. At 15 she and 18-year-old Michael came on a holiday to Inverleigh where their family (father Shaun, stepmother Lorraine and stepbrother Oliver) lived. Katie and Michael both decided to stay on in Inverleigh. Katie attended Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College and did her work experience at the Inverleigh Store, with Tracey and David as her mentors. Little did any of them know how handy that would be 20 years later.

Katie’s experience of country living and small towns grew when she lived with her young family in Byaduc and Dunkeld in the Hamilton region, where her children, Noah and India-Rose spent their early years. She returned to Inverleigh in 2016 to help temporarily with the Inverleigh postie run. The postie run involves delivering mail to outlying properties from the railway crossing to the east and to Barunah Plains Rd to the west. What was to be assistance for a couple of weeks continued for many years until, in 2022, Katie took over the contract for the run. Today, with Katie busy in the store and the post office, she employs family to do the roadside mail delivery.

As Noah and India-Rose grew older, Katie had more time and took on a cleaning job. She worked her way up to better positions over the years and then moved to another company before leaving to start work at the store.

Katie and Andy met through friends at a bonfire in Andy’s backyard in December 2020. Their friendship, based on shared interests and values of family, community, hard work, and taking action to make something of their lives, grew into a loving relationship.

Andy started his childhood in Herne Hill with his mother, Rosilyn, father, Michael and brothers, Mitchell and Scott. Mick worked with his father, Michael Leeson Senior, in his earthmoving business. Mick Senior’s imminent retirement led the family to look for alternatives, and, since Claire Hay, Roz’ mother was the chef at the Inverleigh Hotel and it was for sale, the family decided to buy it.

At the same time, Andy, then aged four going on five, broke his leg and was hospitalised. The day he was released, he broke it again. Problems were misdiagnosed as being related to the breaks. Finally, Andy, a runaround type of mischievous kid, was diagnosed with osteo sarcoma (bone marrow cancer). He went through six months of brutal chemotherapy in 1994 and 1995. Just after his sixth birthday his leg was amputated from the hip. Andy says that there are only a handful of people left who remember him on two legs at the pub. He became known as ‘Hoppy’ or ‘Hop’ and is even ‘Uncle Hop’ nowadays.

Andy describes an idyllic childhood of adventures around the river with his brothers and friends, good times with family and a range of Inverleigh characters, and entertaining moments in living at the

pub. Bruce Hooper, grandfather of his friend, Tony Eaton, made him a bike trailer to be pulled along in behind Tony’s bike. His schooling at St Anthony’s and later Our Lady’s in Herne Hill was disrupted by many medical tests and hospital visits.

Meanwhile the family was under strain running a pub, raising children and coping with hospital and medical visits. They and their customers started fund raising for the Royal Children’s Hospital in a forerunner of today’s Good Friday Appeal at Inverleigh. Eventually Mick returned to Geelong, while Roz and the boys stayed on in Inverleigh.

Andy played plenty of sport, including swimming, soccer, basketball, table tennis and badminton. He also played wheelchair basketball for the Victorian State team for five years and played in Australia against visiting international teams. He played in the Pan Pacific games when he was in year 10 at Western Heights Secondary College.

Andy was working two jobs while at school, and three after he left. He worked his way up to Training Manager over his ten years at McDonalds. He gained numerous certificates in his jobs in earth moving, warehousing logistics and the construction industry. He currently works as a high-risk work trainer.

So here they were, both with good jobs, contemplating a major investment and lifestyle change. After consultation with Tracey and David, and their extended families, and talking through every aspect, they decided to go ahead. Katie would be the daily presence, while Andy would keep his jobs and work at the store after hours and on weekends.

Katie and Andy both say how appreciative they are of the help and encouragement that Tracey and David have given them during their training week and ever since. They are also incredibly grateful to brothers, Mitch and Scotty, and their wives, Jess and Jacqui, who arrange their lives so that they can help at the store, supporting the recently extended hours which cover dinner time three days a week. Other family members, including Noah and India-Rose, are pitching in in various ways to help everything run smoothly.

Katie and Andy plan to take things slowly at first, but are bubbling with ideas. These include developing the store further as a hub for community connections and assistance, setting up displays celebrating the heritage of the store and the town, welcoming customer and staff suggestions. creating a staff chill out area behind the scenes, and adding to the menu with a focus on providing hearty, fresh, quality food. Their smiles, genuine interest in people, and their excitement are endearing them to everyone. We wish them great enjoyment and every success with their venture.

The second photo shows Bronwyn Price, Convenor of the Inverleigh Historical Society, presenting Katie and Andy with a painting of the store as it was during the 1980s, to include in their display. It was painted by Evelyn Barber who was living in Inverleigh at the time.

JULY 2025 Calendar article

The photo for July on the 2025 Inverleigh Historical Society Calendar shows the pump track at Yerram Yaluk Bun in Inverleigh. It is part of the Active Youth Space which opened in 2024. How those facilities were developed is a textbook case of a community, a shire and politicians working together to achieve a dream. It is also a story of the importance of timing.

For a very long time the Inverleigh community had been talking about the lack of any facilities for casual recreation for youth. This all came to a head when Covid cut off recreational and social mixing and organised sport. People recognised the importance of both physical health and mental health. They saw the value in creat-

ing opportunities to catch up with friends, to meet new people and to develop connections and a sense of belonging. These ideas struck a chord with Christine Windle, a long term local with connections across the community, and Deb Morrison, who had been instrumental in developing the Play Park section for younger children at Yerram Yaluk Bun. As members of the Inverleigh Progress Association, Christine and Deb assisted with the 2021 Youth Survey and the 2021 Community survey. Both surveys highlighted the need for activities for young people within Inverleigh so they could use

The Inverleigh Historical Society was formed in 2004. It operates under the auspices of the Inverleigh Mechanics Institute and Public Hall Committee.

Our Aims are to collect and preserve items of local historic interest and to promote research and interest in local history.

We welcome all donations to our collection or the opportunity to copy material. We are most grateful to the many people who have kept the Historical Society in mind as they sorted through their own collections. We undertake many interesting projects and have enjoyable meetings, which you are welcome to attend.

them independent of needing to be driven to neighbouring towns. Among the most popular requests were updated facilities for skateboards and scooters, basketball courts, and challenging bike tracks.

The Golden Plains Youth Team conducted a term long pop-up youth space at the Inverleigh Public Hall. This enabled Christine to carry out further consultations with the 30 or so young people who attended each week. An ambitious project plan was developed, with the assistance of a free Golden Plains Shire Grant Writing course. Then, in consultation with young people, the Inverleigh Progress Association, the wider community, Golden Plains Shire officers and councillors, and utilising Deb’s experience in working with local government, a more detailed plan was developed. It was lodged with the shire in readiness for a grant opportunity.

And now for the importance of timing. State and Federal elections were both called for 2022. All the candidates wanted to appeal to voters and looked to the shires for ready projects they could promise to back financially. The Active Youth Project had great appeal, was ‘grass roots’ and was ready and waiting. Young people, families, the Inverleigh Progress Association and the broader community lobbied politicians. Letters were sent and groups of bike riders and others met with the politicians at the park to press the case and provide photo opportunities. A design competition with a bike prize set up by Libby Coker, the then Labor member for the Federal seat of Corangamite, had many entries and was won by Jack Stones. Libby Coker, Stephanie Asher, Liberal candidate for Corangamite, and Michaela Set-

tle, State Labor member for Buninyong standing for the newly formed State seat of Eureka, promised their support. The Golden Plains Shire Council pledged a financial contribution. The shire officers ran with the project, managing all aspects, including coordinating government funding, further community consultations, design and tender phases, and the works through to completion. This $2.4 million project was a collaborative effort with contributions of $150,000 from Golden Plains Shire, $1.49 million from the State Government, $700,000 from the Federal Government and $25,000 for the connecting paths from the Inverleigh Progress Association, on behalf of the community. Locals will remember the weeks of fenced off areas with heavy machinery in action, the gradually emerging forms of the tracks, courts and skateboard features, and the laying of paths and landscaping. There was great jubilation when, in 2024, the dream had become a reality, ready for everyone to enjoy. The first weekend saw literally hundreds of people riding, skating, scooting, and shooting for goals.

A small aside relating to the youth consultation process is how thoughtful and engaged our young people were. Their inclusive perspectives and practical insights were invaluable in shaping the project. The benefits for businesses and raising the town profile anticipated in the original plan are being realised. The experience of being part of the process provided everyone with a practical example of how to work together to achieve great outcomes.

IPA Annual Presidents Report June 2025

A brief overview of the past year.

At last year’s AGM, new members were elected to the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. With the change of these positions, quite a bit of time has been spent making sure that all relevant information has been passed onto the new committee members. It was decided that an external hard drive be purchased, enabling the information that former Secretary, Luanne Thornton, had on her computer could be transferred to this hard drive, thereby giving Keith Windle, our new secretary, access to all previous relevant secretarial information. aIt was also decided to purchase a laptop computer for the new treasurer Gwenda Smith, enabling all financial matters to be easily accessed if the position was passed onto another treasurer in the future. This laptop will remain the property of the IPA. It has been a huge and arduous task for Gwenda to trace previous account details, invoices for the Leigh News advertising clients and the river pump keys. It is hoped that all financial activities will soon be entered into the system, simplifying things as we move forward. This is still work in progress.

A new computer was also purchased for the Leigh News publication.

In July 2024, the Leigh Valley Lions Club offered to install netting under the roof of the Lawsons Park BBQ area, the IPA were happy to pay for materials. This offer was welcomed, as it would keep the rafter’s bird free and in turn keep the area cleaner for anyone using this facility. IPA was very appreciative of the Lions club offer and completion of this project.

With the departure of Damien Baker from Inverleigh, the mower that was used to maintain the open space area North of the river, was no longer needed, it was sold and the money will be used by the IPA for future Community projects.

The second Free Christmas Community Evening was held in Early December. Sincere thanks to the Lions Club for cooking the sausage sizzle, CWA Inverleigh for supplying icy poles, Inverleigh CFA for bringing along the firetruck, Inverleigh Historical Society and Inverleigh Hall Committee for the assistance and to Rowan Windle for providing the entertainment. A good night was had by all.

The IPA members were happy, once more, to help the Hall Committee with their Australia Day Breakfast, both financially and with hands on deck. It was noted on the day that the hall’s dishwasher was no longer working. At the following IPA meeting it was discussed, and it was decided that the IPA will pay for the replacement dishwasher once it becomes available.

The Inverleigh community is very lucky to have access to river water via the river pump that is supplied and maintained by the IPA. This water provides stock and

domestic water for residents. To access this pump, residents must have a key. It was decided to change the lock and re issue new keys to maintain accurate records of all users. This changeover was done in March. Thanks to all that were involved in helping with this task and to Murray McMillan for being the town’s contact person for anyone wishing to obtain a key. Also thank you to Ewan Peel for the maintenance of the pump when needed.

Thank you also to Peter Hamilton for tidying up the Gazebo planter boxes in the Main Street. Peter has replanted these using more hardy plants that will need little care.

Work is underway to replace the broken noticeboards in the picnic in Yarrum Yaluk Bun Park, this will enable the Inverleigh Historical walking map to be displayed.

The IPA’s website is currently being updated and improved. A work in progress. Representatives of the IPA still meet every few months with Golden Plains Shire Council. This line of communication is helpful to both the IPA and the Council, we discuss projects, and any issues that may be of concern in Inverleigh. Ongoing updates regarding Federation foot bridge and the camping issues around the river reserve have all been discussed. Signs have now been erected, setting down some guidelines for campers.

A special mention and thank you to Peter Trevaskis, for the wonderful job that he has done for many years as the Leigh News Editor. Peter has let it be known that he will be stepping down as Editor by the end of this year. The Leigh News is a big part of our community; we are all hoping that someone will step up to the challenge and take on the role of Editor. If you know anyone that may be interested, please reach out to them. Because rules and regulations have been changed regarding, not for profit organisations, we have found that we needed a new Constitution to be presented and hopefully passed at this year’s AGM. I must give a huge thank you to John Bolitho, for the time that he has devoted, over several drafts and discussions, to getting the wording just right in this document.

Over the course of this year, there have been hours of work going on behind the scenes, Gwenda Smith with the help of Deb Morrison have spent hours getting the administration of the IPA in order. My sincere thanks to both, hopefully the next twelve months won’t be quite as challenging.

Many thanks also to Keith Windle for taking on the unenviable role of Secretary. Your willingness to take on this role is very much appreciated by all members.

An addition thankyou to Deb for her diligence in keeping the ball rolling, keeping her finger on the pulse of what is happening in our community, which has enabled us to keep moving forward.

It is always a combined effort by all that makes The Inverleigh Progress Association, still relevant after so many years.

G’Day from the penners for the chilly month of July. Our group is staying warm by writing witty stories and poetry that create great laughter and that is always a warming exercise.

Our poem for this month is written by Gordon Vanbeek, who will openly admit that poetry is not his favourite form of writing, but this month he has produced a beauty.

You don’t have to be a talented writer to join our group, just a love of putting words together. I had never written anything when I joined the group, but always thought I could, so when the opportunity came my way to try my hand, I took it. And 10 years later I am still an active member of our group and my writing has improved though practice.

So, the invitation is always open for new people to come and see what we are about. So please come and have a sticky beak, you will be made welcome. We can always be contacted vis our email address goldenpens4@gmail.com

Breathe a little longer, my love

For seventy-two years we lived as one

Through drought and flood and war as well.

How many breathes in all that time?

Now a machine is doing that work

Each mechanical breath an unanswered prayer.

The doctor sits quietly by her bed

Charts in his hands, experience in his eyes. He’s done this before, knows the words That are supposed to help me to decide

But he hasn’t seen her smile that would light up a room.

“She’s struggling,” the doctor says, and I know he’s right.

Her heart rate, oxygen levels, numbers on screens

The machines quietly hum, but not the way she used to hum, While making breakfast for the family of a Sunday morn.

It was year three in primary school when first we met, She was the girl who helped me, With my spelling words, patient even then, And eventually that smile, when I finally got it right.

“What would she want?” The doctor asks

But I’m not ready to let go, of the only hand I’ve ever held The doctor waits, he’s seen this fear before, The terror of being alone, being half instead of one.

I squeeze her hand still warm, still soft.

Breathe a little longer, my love,

Help me to find the courage to let you rest. Just a little longer, is that too much to ask?

Her hand rests in mine, she always said she wouldn’t want this, But that was before I had to choose.

22 Leigh News POLICE REPORT FOR JULY

Hello all,

Detectives have recently carried out drug warrants on two premises in the local area cultivating Cannabis where drugs were seized and the offenders bailed to court. In recent years there have been four properties raided where drugs were being cultivated. You live in a small community, if you engage in this type of activity don’t think for a minute that others in the community and Police won’t notice or become aware of it. Think of the consequences of being caught before getting involved or contemplating this activity.

On the topic of drugs I have been carrying out random drug tests over the last month on motorists. I have been trained in the process, along with a lot of members from other smaller stations so be aware that it is not just the Highway Patrol carrying out the tests nowdays. If you partake in using Cannabis or Methylamphetamine and then driving there is a greater chance of being detected and losing your licence.

INVERLEIGH

I am still receiving complaints of youths riding bicycles on the road in the dark without lights and bicycle helmets especially on Common Road. I recently issued a fine to a youth for one of these offences and please note they are worth $247. Most people contacting me are concerned for the safety of the youths and fear they will be struck by a driver that can’t see them. Can parents please ensure that their children have helmets and lights fitted to their bicycles when riding at night otherwise ensure your children are home before nightfall if they do not have lights.

I have recently received a report of a suspect loiter in Peel Road Inverleigh where a suspicious male doorknocked a premises offering to install spotlights on sheds but had no identification or any documentation from the alleged company. Be aware of suspicious behaviour and feel free to inform Police if you are concerned.

Keep Safe Chris

The Tax

In last month’s article I highlighted the problems that the C.F.A. and the local community are facing with the recent tax changes the Allen Labor government have pushed through and are due to take effect on July 1 2025.

In the last month there have been some changes made with farmers being given a twelve month deferral of the increased rate. Every body else will have to pay the new higher rate.

There have still been ongoing protests and displays of signs and CFA clothing in an effort to highlight the deceptive nature and presentation of this increased tax. Clearly these displays are having an effect with the government making the changes for farmers. While that helps farmers in the short term, the CFA is made up many types of people from all walks of life and if they are not farmers they will all pay the new higher rate of tax. This is one of the main driving forces behind the protests as the tax effects all CFA personnel.

So if this is not insulting enough to any CFA volunteer, it has been announced that the emergency services will face funding cuts across all services of 165

million dollars, it is unclear how much will be taken from the CFA budget, but it will be substantial. Once again, another example that this tax is not being used for Emergency services but to prop up other troubled government projects.

Another part of the tax that is proving to be very confusing is the tax rebate to current CFA members, this is a plan to recognise the efforts made and the Premier has indicated that CFA members will not have to pay the tax. It seems that is not quite the case and the there are many different levels of rebate that the local brigade must work through and then submit before any refunds are granted. Yet more administration for volunteers to do.

If the Allan Government had just left the emergency services alone and not used them to help raise extra general revenue, just made a new tax and be honest about what it being used for, then while still unpopular like all new taxes are, it would not be as offensive as this current situation involving the volunteer services and it could have avoided all the discontent its has created.

NEW EARLY LEARNING AND CHILDCARE CENTRE COMING TO TEESDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle today announced that works are beginning on a brand-new early learning and childcare centre which is set to open at Teesdale Primary School, delivering high-quality early childhood education and care to local families.

Positioning kindergartens on or close to schools supports children to get the most out of their early learning, makes drop-off more convenient for busy parents and carers, and helps with a smoother transition to primary school.

Part of an historic $14 billion investment in the new early learning facilities across the state, the Teesdale centre will offer long day care and kindergarten programs for three and four-year old children, with daily capacity for up to 102 local children.

The purpose – built facility will feature outdoor play areas, a maternal and child health consulting room, a dedicated community room and on-site parking for families and staff

Located within the rapidly growing Golden Plains Shire the centre responds to increasing demand for accessible, high-quality early childhood services, driven by region’s affordability and proximity to major cities.

The Teesdale centre is one of 50 early learning and childcare centres being built and operated across Victoria as part of the Government’s Best Start, Best Life reforms – the most significant transformation of Victoria’s early childhood education sector in a generation.

Early learning Victoria, established with the Department of Education, is committed to delivering child-centre, play-based learning with strong connections to nature and

local communities. The rollout will see 24 ELV centres open between 2025 – 2027.

This investment marks a critical step in ensuring every child across Victoria gets the best possible start in life. Backed by the Victorian Government, the centre will be operated by Early Learning Victoria (ELV) – government-established provider dedicated to delivering exceptional early years services.

Fairbrother construction company's Aaron Finnigan and Jarrad Page, Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, Early Learning Victoria director of quality and compliance Nicole Pilsworth, Department of Education acting executive director Central Highlands Anne Gawith, and Teesdale Primary School Principal Sam Irwin.

Bannockburn & District Grants

In 2008 the Bannockburn branch of the Bendigo Bank introduced a local grants programme based on the Community Bank concept. Customers who linked their accounts to the programme generated a commission to fund local grants. A board of volunteers from local organisations was appointed, and over the following years have distributed over 250 grants.

The first grant was to the Teesdale Turtle Bend Project of $5000 for their dry stone wall. The total of funding support given in the past 18 years to projects and organisations in the lower Golden Plains area so far amounts to over $850,000. Included in this is a major contribution of seed funding for the Youth Hub in Bannockburn of $100,000. This Hub provides a dedicated space for young people aged 12 to 25 from across Golden Plains Shire supported by the Youth Development Team.

This wonderful effort has been facilitated by the bank customers who willingly linked their accounts to help the community, and we acknowledge

the Bannockburn branch managers and staff who have supported the board of Bannockburn & District Grants.

BDG was the last of the original Community Enterprises in the Geelong district still operating in 2024. The Bendigo Bank has changed its community focus to Benefit Geelong, a similar organization comprising the eight bank branches in greater Geelong, who will continue to provide grants.

New Volunteers Welcomed

You may have noticed the Inverleigh Surprise Shop has not been open for the last few Monday afternoons. The reason is our two regular volunteers have retired due to health issues and we have not been able to find any new recruits for Monday afternoons. If anyone would like to help out we would welcome the extra support. You will need to undergo some training, but it is not arduous. There are usually two volunteers on duty at any time.

Volunteers are hard to find these days as most people are busy with work and family, but if you feel up to a few hours a week you would be very welcome. Call in and make yourself known to the volunteers on duty.

IN OTHER NEWS

August is Dental Month!

In preparation for Dental Month we are offering 10% discount on dental, scale and polish procedures during August.

Dental disease is one of the most common medical conditions seen by veterinarians.

At first dental disease may only inflame the gums, but left untreated will affect the bone around the tooth roots leading to severe oral pain and loss of teeth.

This is the perfect time to have a dental check up for your pet.

If you would like to book a consult or a dental procedure and take advantage of the discount in August please call the clinic on 03 5281 1221.

Veterinary Students

Here we have veterinary student Anjana from Melbourne Uni who helped deliver these puppies via c-section.

Part of studying at university to become a qualified veterinarian involves a certain number of placement hours in the field at a veterinary clinic.

National Desexing Month

July is National Desexing Month! Once again we are offering 20% off all desexing procedures.

Desexing your pet helps to reduce the number of unwanted pets. Many cats and dogs are bred by accident because they haven't been desexed.

Other benefits include: Preventing reproductive cycle behaviours. Male dogs and cats are much more likely to roam. Female dogs and cats go on heat which involves a bloody discharge in dogs and poses problems such as calling and roaming in queens. Desexing also limits spraying and marking territory and desexed pets are less likely to show aggressive behaviour than undesexed animals. There are also a number of health problems that can be prevented by desexing including mammary tumours, pyometra, prostate problems and tumours. Desexing is a day stay surgery. Please contact the clinic on 03 5281 1221 if you have any questions about desexing your pet or would like to book your pet in for surgery.

Rat Bait Poisoning

Both dogs and cats can be affected by ingesting rat bait directly or by ingesting rodents which have ingested rat bait. Rat Bait acts as an anticoagulant (prevents the blood from clotting) by depleting the body's supply of vitamin k. It can take from 1 - 5 days after ingestion to begin to see the signs of intoxication. Signs of Intoxication: Pale gums, lethargy, bruising, bleeding from nose, blood in eyes, blood in urine or faeces and/ or coughing.

If you have seen your pet eat rat poison or think there may be a chance they have bring them into the clinic immediately. If you haven't seen your pet ingest rat bait but notice signs that may relate to ingestion contact the clinic immediately. It is a condition to be taken seriously and early diagnosis and treatment is

Here at Bannockburn Veterinary Clinic we regularly have vet students completing their placement hours.

Students come from Melbourne Uni here in Victoria but also many interstate students make the trip down to complete their placements with us.

It's nice to know we are helping shape the path of future veterinarians

essential.

Remember rats and mice often drag baits out of their original positions so there is always a danger to our pets when poisons are used.

Rabbit Teeth

Dental disease in rabbits can be more subtle than dental disease in dogs and cats. It is important to take your rabbit to the vet for an annual health check and vaccination.

Rabbits have continuously growing teeth and can sometimes need regular filing to keep them maintained.

Signs of dental disease in rabbits include nasal discharge, inability to close the mouth, facial swelling and protruding front teeth. They will often stop eating.

Rabbits are becoming increasingly popular pets. Please feel free to contact the clinic on 5281 1221 if you would like to book a health check or vaccination for your pet rabbit.

Keeping rabbits as pets has become increasingly popular and its important to maintain regular health checks with your veterinarian.

A humble beginning for Bannockburn Surgery when it first opened its doors in 1983 – small rooms located between what was the original supermarket and pharmacy.

Soon outgrowing these rooms, they moved in 1986 to 19 High Street with two consulting rooms, a small treatment room and tiny tearoom for its team members. Its current building (16 High Street) was opened in the year 2000 – a purpose-built practice complete with five consulting rooms and a sixth added in 2010.

The practice has grown from strength to strength and has a wonderfully dedicated team of Doctors, Nurses, Reception team and Practice Manager. They also have access to high-quality Allied Health services including podiatry and newly introduced acupuncture with Dr Rimas Liubinas, with plans for more services to follow.

For Bannockburn Surgery who celebrated their forty-year anniversary a few weeks ago, this was a proud milestone. The surgery welcomed back former team members: doctors, nurses, administration staff, and allied health for an evening of festivities reminiscing on the past forty-years and what the future holds for the practice.

The Directors (and Principal GPs) of Bannockburn Surgery would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to those whom have been part of their practice team, past and present. And also extends a warm thank you to patients for ongoing support in entrusting their health to the team at Bannockburn Surgery and their journey.

The surgery has a proud history and is incredibly excited for the future. Not only the future of Bannockburn Surgery, but also in continuing to support the growing community of Bannockburn and its surrounds. The surgery has grand plans and is eagerly awaiting to commence build
