While there aren’t many days off for us at Lee Real Estate in the Summer, when we do find ourselves with a free couple of hours these are our favorite things to do. Some of us hit the water, others hit the trails, and so me hit the golf course. We are lucky to have so many great options right at our fingertips. FISHING CHARTER WITH CAPTAIN HAL

Are you itching to catch your first fish? Want to know the best spots to go? Fishing with Capt. Hal Herrick is the best way to spend the day. Go out and learn the tricks of the trade and bring home some dinner!

SET SAIL WITH NCS

The best way to see the island is from the water. Nantucket Community Sailing is just the place to hook you up with everything you need for your sailing adventure. Located at Jetties Beach, NCS offers boat rentals as well as lessons and camps for kids.

ROUND OF GOLF AT MIACOMET

Nantucket’s only public 18-hole course is a great way to spend an afternoon. Practice your shot at the driving range, or play a full 18 holes while taking in the beautiful views from the course. Be sure to stop into the restaurant for some food after you play!

CATCH A WAVE AT NOBADEER

Grab your board and let’s hit the surf! ACK

Surf School at Nobadeer Beach is a great surfing experience for those just starting out to seasoned professionals. Gaven Norton offers private and group lessons, as well as rentals so you can get the full Nantucket surf experience!

TUPANCY LINKS

Tupancy is one of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s most popular properties. Located on Cliff Road, this former 9-hole golf course is one of the best places to take a walk with the kids and the dogs! Take in the beautiful views of the island’s North Shoe while walkng the clearly marked trails.

ADVENTURE TO GREAT POINT

Nantucket has three lighthouses, two of which are easily accessible, the third requires a bit of an adventure. Gas up the Jeep and get your Oversand Beach Sticker from the Trustees and make the trek to Great Point Lighthouse for a picnic.

BLUFF WALK & ROSE COVERED COTTAGES

Pick up a coffee at the Sconset Market and enjoy the Bluff Walk to Sankaty Lighthouse. With the open ocean on one side and stunning homes on the other, there are great views in every direction!

RENTAL TIPS & FAQs

Whether it is your first or fiftieth time on island, we always want to make sure you get the most of your visit. Read below for our most commonly asked rental questions, and a few tips to ensure this trip & all those in the future go smoothly so you can enjoy every minute of your vacation!

What is the best time to book?

We recommend booking 8-12 months in advance, with most rentals being secured at least 6 months ahead. For holidays and popular weekends (like Wine Festival & Christmas Stroll), the sooner the better in order to have the largest selection of available rentals. That being said, our team is always working hard to add more homes to our rental inventory - reach out today to find the best fit for you & your group.

What do I need to do at check-out?

The standard check-out time is typically 9 or 10am - this information will be written on your lease. Prior to departure, we ask that you start a load of sheets or towels, run the dishwasher, and empty the fridge/cabinets of any perishables that you purchased during your stay to assist our cleaners in getting the house ready for the next tenant checking in. If you are on a later ferry off the island and want to leave your luggage at the office at 10 South Beach Street, you are more than welcome - please make arrangements with your rental agent to do so!

What is the security deposit process?

Your secuity deposit will be returned to you within 60 days of checking out barring any damages, excessive cleaning, or other charges. After checking out, your rental agent will be in touch with the homeowner to make sure that everything is in good order so we can initiate the return. To help prevent excessive cleaning charges, upon check-out strip the beds and start the washing machine. Make sure trash is placed in bins and the recycling is separated. This will help expedite the cleaning process and will prevent overage charges deducted from your security deposit.

This is the response we hope to get from all our tenants! We love that you love this island as much as we do (how could you not?!) If you are interested in finding a rental for next season, or have interest in purchasing your Nantucket dream home we would be honored to help you. Reach out to your rental agent and they can show you any listing on the island!

Don’t forget to book your transportation to & from the island! The ferry books up particularly quickly, so set your calendar alerts for early January when the Steamship Authority opens up reservations for the season.

Check out our Dining Guide for our favorite on island eats, and check online for their reservation policies. Dinner reservations are a hot commodity and should be booked in advance when possible!

Each island enclave has something unique to offer - read on to disover your perfect Nantucket neighborhood!

Cliff & Dionis

West of Brant Point, this highly coveted section of the island is known for its close proximity to Town, calm north shore beaches, and sweeping views of Nantucket Sound.

Town & Brant Point

Downtown Nantucket, and neighboring Brant Point offer a look into the island’s historic past at every turn. The heart of the island is full of shops, restaurants, museums, harbor views, and stunning architecture.

Madaket

Nantucket’s Western end is known for its unbelivable sunsets, only made better by a Millie’s margarita in hand. Madaket offers miles of coastline, walking trails, and beautiful moors.

Hummock Pond & Cisco

Hummock Pond & Cisco offer something for everyone, especially those looking to be within a stones throw of beautiful beaches, bike paths, and the infamous Cisco Brewers.

Mid-Island

Mid-Island offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores so you are never far from anything you may need while on island, and town is well within reach.

Surfside

Surfside offers family-friendly beaches complete with snack shacks, an easy shuttle ride into town, and a relaxed summer vibe perfect for Nantucket vacations.

Monomoy, Shimmo & Shawkemo

If it is harbor views you’re searching for, look no further, Monomoy, Shimmo, and Shawkemo properties gaze over to downtown from across the water.

Polpis

Polpis encompasses miles of land south of Nantucket Harbor, and offers vast amounts of conservation land, giving buyers and renters complete privacy without being far from Historic Downtown.

Pocomo & Quidnet

These quiet neighborhoods along the island’s Eastern end are complete with water views, pristine landscapes, and an array of expansive properties.

Siasconset

Welcome to the Eastern end, which offers everything from quaint rosecovered cottages to large propeties with views of the horizon over the sweeping Atlantic Ocean.

Tom Nevers

Located between Surfside and Sconset, Tom Nevers offers large properties in quiet neighborhoods close to pristine South Shore beaches.

Stroll through town and enjoy a picnic lunch at Brant Point. Venture out to Sconset and take the Bluff Walk out to Sankaty Head. Rent a Jeep for the day and go offroading to get to Great Point for the ultimate ACK beach day!
