Annual Charity Event—Night Circus Planning for A.C.E. Night is well underway and we’d like to share some updates with you. First, we’d like to thank a few organizations who have shown their generosity to LCSC by sponsoring our biggest event of the year. Thank you to Rachel Johnson and First Command Financial, PCSI, Dahlke Orthodontics, Harborstone Credit Union, US Family Health Plan, and our local Geico Office. The assistance from our sponsors really helps take our event to the next level. Thank you! Ticket sales are starting to come in for our March 13 event and we hope you either already have yours or are planning to get it soon. You have the option to buy tickets individually or purchase an entire table. Purchasing an entire table will help ensure your group gets to sit together. Be sure to share this event with all of your friends—this event is open to the public and we'd love to have more civilian community involvement so invite everyone you know! The theme this year is Night Circus. Our wonderful chairperson for the event, April Johns, has already planned her costume and it is going to be fabulous! While costumes are encouraged, the attire for this event is semi-formal if you’re going for a more elegant night out look. See some photos from last year’s event below. Everyone had a great time embracing the Kentucky Derby Theme! Weekly A.C.E. Night meetings have started and are held every Thursday at the Spouses’ Club building on Lewis Main. General meetings are from 10-11am with procurement meetings following from 11-12pm. If you have donations for A.C.E. Night, these weekly meetings are a great time to drop off your items. You can also drop off on Saturdays from 10-12pm. The success of this event relies on our talented volunteers. Please consider donating your time to this wonderful event. We still need lots of hands to help us pull this off! If you have questions about the event or are interested in volunteering, email April. The A.C.E. Night Silent Auction committee is looking for donations of new or gently used ribbon, tissue paper, baskets, and small boxes to make the baskets look fabulous. Donations will be accepted at luncheons thru February or arrangements can be made for pickup. We are also looking for people to help craft these amazing baskets. Contact Nicole by phone, 360-280-8820, or email if you’d like to help.

Community Grants

Scholarship Opportunity

The Lewis Community Spouses’ Club raises money throughout the year in an effort to provide monetary support to local and national organizations and charities via the Community Grants Program. Funds are given as grants to on- and off-post organizations that serve military members and their families on JBLM and surrounding communities. Last year the Club raised approximately $37,000 at our Annual Charity Event (A.C.E. Night) and this money helped fund the Grants program. Because of the participation and generosity of our Club members, we were able to give to the Fort Lewis Family Member Scholarship Fund, multiple Lakes High School athletic teams, the Children’s Museum of Tacoma, Operation Homefront, Dogs on Deployment, SafePlace, Wear Blue: Run to Remember, the Buffalo Soldiers Museum, multiple Boy Scout troops and many more.

LCSC is a large donor to the Fort Lewis Family Member Scholarship Fund each year. In the past this scholarship fund has given to family members of the Army. This year, they are opening their eligibility to include dependents of any service member assigned to or retired from JBLM. You can see all the details regarding their eligibility here. Applications are open for high school seniors, students continuing education and spouses. The fund awards scholarships to those working toward their first Bachelors degree. The application deadline is March 16, 2020. In the past five years, the fund has given out $190,000 to 44 recipients. Here you can read an article written by an LCSC member about last year’s awardees. If you have any questions about the Fund, you can email them at ftlewisfamilyscholarship@gmail.com.

Applications will only be electronically accepted through March 25, 2020 by completing the Community Grants Application here. All applicants must be a non-profit organization. Please email if you have additional questions.

Board Positions It is already time to begin thinking about your interest in serving on the LCSC Executive Board for 2020-2021. Contact Julie if you are interested or would like more information. You can see job descriptions here.
