SEC Tailgating Done Right

There’s nothing quite like the experience of tailgating for a college football game! While the universities in the SEC are rivals, tailgating is something that fans of any school live for and look forward to every fall. It’s a great way for old friends to reconnect, families to bond, and fans to enjoy delicious food.

Pork barbecue being revered as it is in the South, is a favorite across the SEC. Learn how to smoke, flavor, and serve pork nachos that will have your friends and family cheering for more.

Dress in support of your favorite SEC team and enjoy a night of learning to tailgate right.

2-Sentence Horror Story Contest

October 6th - October 20th

A creepy contest just in time for spooky season! Everyone enjoys reading horror books around Halloween, so why not try writing one? Give the judges fright when they read your spine-tingling story. These 2-sentence stories are meant to be eerie and unsettling, so try your hand at horror.

This month’s selection is The Drowning Kind by Jennifer McMahon. A modern-day ghost story that illuminates how the past, though sometimes forgotten, is never really far behind us.

606 Paranormal: Haunted Doll & Objects Tour

They’re back! 606 Paranormal’s Haunted Doll Tour returns to our auditorium with added dolls, creepy stories, and chilling videos for an even more spine-tingling experience.

Explore the eerie world of doll collecting with a twist. This creepy collection features dolls with painted eyes, some that open and close, others that are peering out of the corners, and a few that stare dead ahead. Gathered by 606 Paranormal from their client’s homes, these dolls are unlike any you’d find in a typical collection. Take a closer look for yourself as you browse pictures, watch videos, and hear bone-chilling stories about these haunting dolls. Or are you too afraid to face them?

Beatles 4 Sale: LIVE in Concert

Beatles 4 Sale celebrates those early days of Beatles rock n’ roll. Adam, Isaac, Jon, and Vander bring to the stage, not only the early hits of the Beatles, but also the same energy and youthfulness that the Fab Four themselves brought to the clubs and stages from 1962 to 1966. Each member of Beatles 4 Sale brings extensive experience performing the music of the Beatles with an energy that will turn any stage into a bona fide rock n’ roll party. Come back with us to when rock n’ roll still rocked, the guitars were loud, and the songs were timeless.

Matinee Movie: Murder on the Orient Express

A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. When an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks, the world’s greatest detective, Hercule Poirot, arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can strike again. This PG-13 movie is based on Agatha Christie’s bestselling mystery novel with the same name.

EKU Guitar Ensemble

Friday, October 20th • 6-7pm

The EKU Guitar Ensemble, led by Dr. Dennis Davis, has gained national recognition on NPR and regional exposure on TV and radio. They’ve earned praise from renowned guitarists like William Kanengiser, Joseph Hagedorn, and Marcin Dylla. They’ve been invited to perform at Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival, the Frankfort Arts Foundation, and as pre-concert music for artists like Pepe Romero, the Barcelona Guitar Orchestra, and The Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra.

Oh look, another glorious trivia. Makes me SICK! All Hollow’s Eve is drawing close and we’re going to be running amok for Hocus Pocus trivia. We’ll test your knowledge and have you conjuring up the answers to all of our tricky questions.

Creepy Kentucky with Author

Kentucky is no stranger to strange occurrences. From weird encounters with the Grim Reaper to the local graveyard dog, the Bluegrass has its share of odd stories.

While discussing his new book, Keven McQueen will discuss local ghosts who’ve haunted areas for years. You’ll hear about body snatchers, some very odd modes of death, and people who uncannily predicted their own demise.

True Crime: The Real Story of Scream

Daniel Harold Rolling, known as The Gainesville Ripper, was an American serial killer who murdered five students in Gainesville, Florida over four days in August 1990.

Uncover the terrifying true events behind the horror film, as we investigate the parallels between the fictional serial killer and the real-life serial killer: The Gainesville Ripper.

All About Pumpkins

From yummy pumpkin pie to the magical world of jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkins are so much fun! Swing by the children’s department and grab an exciting writing prompt activity that’s all about these awesome orange gourds. Tell us in just a few sentences what makes pumpkins special to you. We’re super excited to showcase your amazing words in the children’s department, so make sure to bring your creation back by October 15th. And guess what? When you return it, you’ll be in for a sweet surprise! Pumpkins and treats – it doesn’t get any better than that!

Sensory Stay-N-Play

Get ready for the most epic Barnyard Bonanza yet! It’s going to be bigger and better than ever, with over 50 animals, more petting areas, and lots of fun surprises! Bring the whole family for a day filled with fluffy and friendly animal fun!

Honey Hill Petting Zoo will bring all sorts of cute critters, like alpacas, a mini cow, mini horse, mini donkey, rabbits, sheep, ducks, and even a camel! Don’t miss out on this fun-filled day full of smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories! This event is FREE and will take place in our field located in front of the library, in between the library and Somerset Community College.

Turkey Trouble at Friendly Acres Farm
