Grapefruit and Your Medication: If you eat grapefruit while taking these medications, your body may not be able to break them down. This could cause adverse effects. Medications include: Immunosuppressants, Benzodiazepines, most calcium channel blockers, Indinavir, Carbamazepine, and some statins. Sweet and Sour Grapefruit Salad: Pile salad greens on your plate. Mix in ½ of a peeled and segmented grapefruit, ¼ chopped avocado, nuts and a sweet dressing like honey mustard. Baked grapefruit: Heat an oven to 375ºF. Halve 1 grapefruit. Loosen segments from the peel by tracing each segment with a knife. Top with a pinch of maple syrup or brown sugar and cinnamon or ginger. Set the grapefruit flat-side up on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes. Pull out of the oven and let cool before eating.
