THE LATINO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF COLORADO APPOINTS ULIBARRI TO CHIEF IMPACT OFFICER The foundation also announces new strategic initiatives and changes to leadership team with promotions of Montoya and Griego

DENVER, Colorado (Sept 21, 2022) — The Latino Community Foundation of Colorado is pleased to

announce the appointment of Sonya Ulibarri to the position of Chief Impact Officer. Consistent with LCFC’s commitment to advance innovation and transformation across Latino communities, Ulibarri will oversee strategic initiatives to ensure that the foundation’s impact goals and objectives are achieved.

Ulibarri joins LCFC as the foundation announces six strategic directions for the next four years including connecting communities in structured partnerships, creating and documenting models for equitable social change and engage in philanthropic advocacy. With these goals in mind, LCFC seeks to shape itself as a critical community thought partner that supports, invests, and advances community transformation and capacity building efforts that are driven by the community.

“Sonya is an experienced changemaker with a long record of strong community engagement.

Her addition to the LCFC family will help us deliver on the ambitious goals we have set to dive deeper with community transformative work that brings people together to define their destiny and taps into their assets,’’ said Carlos Martinez, Chief Executive Officer for LCFC. Most recently, Ulibarri served as Chief Executive Officer for Girls Inc. in Denver, an organization that provides mentorship to more than 2,000 girls annually. Prior to Girls Inc., Ulibarri served as Executive Director for YouthBiz and the Grassroots Institute for Fundraising Training. An eighthgeneration Coloradan and mother of two, Ulibarri speaks frequently on issues of gender and racial equity, social enterprise and philanthropy, and fundraising.

“Community based work is not in search of comfort. It is in search of deep and impactful work,” said Ulibarri. “I see the work of LCFC as a standout in the philanthropic space that breaks the mold for how to show up in partnership with community.”

In addition to Sonya Ulibarri’s appointment, LCFC also announced changes to the leadership team with the promotions of Priscilla Montoya to Vice President of Development and Communications, and Rachel Griego to Senior Vice President, Community Innovation and Strategic Partnerships. Montoya will help elevate LCFC’s communications strategies to share community stories of transformation and impact as well as support expanded sustainability efforts that ensures LCFC’s presence well into the future. Griego will focus on regional community investments throughout the state, elevate LCFC’s work in connecting people and communities with meaningful experiences and advance the foundation’s programs to nonprofits through new innovative strategies.

“We are fortunate to have talented and respected leaders such as Priscilla and Rachel who are not only highly experienced but energized for the work ahead” Martinez said. “These announcements come at a pivotal time for LCFC as we further position ourselves for sustainable growth so we can help communities develop and thrive for years and generations to come.

As one of only six standalone Latino community foundations nationwide, the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado is proud of the legacy created alongside the community to empower Latino Coloradans and create a place where culture, families, and nonprofits thrive and prosper.

The foundation will celebrate its 15th celebration with a ceremony on Thursday, October 13 at the Denver Art Museum.
