Power Together Launches to Improve How People Experience Energy Support Across Colorado

Denver, CO —

The initiative uses LCFC’s community-based methodology, developed over years of working alongside local partners. Through this approach, Power Together works with trusted individuals known as Community Action Partners (CAPs) who gather insight from people across the state. CAPs collect this feedback with LCFC and Xcel Energy, and together, they help shape future efforts, so programs are easier to understand and use.

LCFC is also supporting the development of a small network of Power Together Hubs, where people can share their input and learn more about existing energy savings tools. These sites serve as listening points part of Xcel Energy’s broader strategy to center community insight in program design, communication, and policy implementation.

“There are programs out there that can help lower energy costs but too often, they don’t connect in ways that feel clear or accessible. Power Together is about bridging the intent of those programs with how people are experiencing them,” said Carlos Martinez, president and chief executive office of LCFC.

“This is the kind of work LCFC is built to do bringing institutions and community partners together, creating space for honest feedback, and helping systems respond with greater clarity and care.”

“At Xcel Energy, we know that listening is foundational to building trust and driving change. Power Together reflects our commitment to co-creating solutions with the communities we have the honor of serving especially those who are often left navigating complex systems alone. Through this partnership, we’re deepening our understanding of real-world barriers and ensuring our programs are more responsive, equitable, and aligned with what our customers truly need,” said Iffie Jennings, director of strategy, outreach, and advocacy, Xcel Energy

Initial pilot efforts are underway in Alamosa County, Denver, and Aurora, with early feedback already helping to refine how program materials are designed and how communication flows between Xcel and customers.

Power Together is guided by the belief that better understanding leads to better results. When people have a chance to share input, utilities and local organizations are better positioned to make improvements that matter.

“This work isn’t about fixing people it’s about improving how these programs function,” said Martinez. “When we understand what’s getting in the way, we can make the path forward clearer for the people navigating these programs and more efficient for the companies delivering them.”

“For Xcel Energy, this work is part of an ongoing effort to make our programs easier to access,” confirmed Jennings. “Our goal is for our programs to be more equitable in their design, and more aligned with the real experiences of our customers.”
