Activity Instructions

1.Introduction:

Ask the pupils to carefully read the infographics on pages 6 -7

Remind them that infographics combine pictures and text to give us information quickly.

Emphasise the importance of reading each section carefully to locate the correct information.

3. Activity: Agriculture Close Reading

Distribute Materials: Provide each pupil or pair with a copy of the infographic and the questions. Instruct pupils to read each question and then scan the infographic to find the exact answer.

Emphasise that the answers are in the text – they don't need to guess or use outside knowledge.

4. Discussion:

Go through the questions as a class, having pupils share their answers.

Ask pupils to identify where in the text they found the answer.

Briefly discuss how finding specific information helps us understand the topic (e.g., population growth, new technologies in farming).

Extension Questions:

After finding the answers, you could briefly ask a followup question for each: "Why is this fact important?" or "What does this tell us about the future of food?"
