1. Introduction Restaurant Casa Marieta is one of the best restaurant of Girona. The food is good and its situation too. The cathedral, which has the widest Gothic nave in the world, can be seen from the Square. Crossing the stone bridge over the River Onyar you enter the heart of the old city, which has a historic relationship with the Jewish community: the Jewish Call and Torre Gironella. Some History… Casa Marieta was founded in 1892, at the same time as the first stage of the modernist movement (the end of the 19th century) and the opening of the old narrow gauge train line between Girona and St. Feliu de Guíxols. Ever since, Casa Marieta has offered its customers home cooking based on tradition and a familiar welcome. The Catalan sense of tradition is evident in all the dishes currently on the menu: chicken with crayfish, roast lamb, duck with pears, sepia with peas... all home-­‐ made.

3. Capability The restaurant is a very large space divided into several parts. The restaurant can hold up to 150 people if it is completely full. However, the normal capacity is about 90 people. Every day, go through the restaurant about 50 people on average

4. Cuisine 4.1 Type of cooking

Casa Marieta offers its customers traditional and market cooking. We have an extensive menu with over 40 dishes to choose from, and we also create seasonal dishes and daily specials. You can also sample our home-­‐made desserts. They have two menu options for groups, one which offers a variety of dishes to share 'pica-­‐pica' and the other with an individual starter. The average price per person is between 17 and 23 € approximately.

• Dining Room Casa Marieta has a dining room divided into five areas by means of decorative elements which also give them their names: Mirall, Pedrera, Roma, Coberta and Costa.

• Kitchen The kitchen is organised according to the tasks to be carried out: the char grill, the grill, the burners, the cold and dessert section and the dishwashing area. We work placing the maximum importance on food safety, order and cleanliness, respecting the environment and paying particular attention to occupational health and safety. It is worth remembering that, being faithful to our image and history, we pride ourselves on the essence of 'product cuisine', where the quality of the raw materials supplied by our suppliers must pass strict quality controls.

• Wine Cellar Casa Marieta’s cellar is situated on the ground floor of the restaurant, in the best environment for maturing and storing wines. It has little light, a porous ceramic floor, cool walls and wooden shelves to distribute the bottles individually, and is free of odours. Our aim is to be able to present the intact bottle to our customers and with a wine in the best of conditions.
