WEEK 01 Introduction

Reflection
With this assignment I struggled the most with making the curves symmetrical. As for the shadows, they were unrealistic at first because I drew a shadow on the foreground and background. Then I tried to fix the shadow.

Classwork 2
Ex (4): To Draw a Composition in Pencil
Reflection
This assignment helped us understand how to sketch and observe from observation. I struggled with the proportions; however, using a pencil to measure helped me a little. With my final sketch I noticed that the contrast was high.
12
13 Sketch
When we took the assignment to draw an object from four views, we still weren’t introduced to drawing with perspective. Later when we continued the assignment with perspective, it was easier to sketch. The final part was to use 6 different rendering techniques.

17 Classwork Grade: 7 Homework Grade: 8
Reflection
Even though I wasn’t able to finish the sketch on time but I was able to understand more how to draw from observation. I struggled the most with showing the different materials in the shot like the wood and bricks.

Ex(7): To Draw an Interior Detail with Different Materials and Textures Using Pencil
Reflection
The perspective in this assignment was not correct. In addition to the contrast, the tv stand and the floor were so similar in color so it seemed that they were blended

Reflection
For this assignment we were trying different strokes and techniques for water colors. It was my first time to draw something in water colors so I struggled a little.

Ex(9): To Draw a Fruit/Vegetable with Different Materials Using Water Colors
Reflection
The hardest part about this assignment was to make the the avocado look realistic. To achieve a realistic look I was supposed to focus on the shading of the object and also try to make it look more round to appear 3D. The colors that I used made the avocado look unrealistic.

Ex(10): 3 Quick Sketches in Markers & Ink.
Reflection
The purpose of this assignment was to be able to draw quick sketches of a scene. I think that it was practice for the field trip assignment because we had to draw quick sketches of scenes that were so detailed. I didn’t have enough time to sketch all three sketches they were incomplete

Ex(11): Render Sketch From Ex(10) & Pick Inktober Theme And Sketch it
Reflection
This week we had two assignments, the first one was rendering a sketch from the quick sketches. I chose to render the entrance. I was struggling a lot with the water colors in this assignments. The second assignment was to pick a theme from Inktober and I chose fairy. The feedback that I got was that the drawing was flat.

Before this assignment we were just introduced to one and two point perspective. We were supposed to sketch both perspectives from building on campus.
I believe that understanding perspective helps a lot while drawing.

Ex(14): To draw an Interior Perspective Rendered in Markers and Water Colors
Reflection
This assignment was one of my favorites because during the course I discovered that I like to draw interior with perspective. Even though there are a few lines that I could’ve improved. In addition to having a lighter wash with water colors.

Ex(15): To Draw and Color an Exterior Perspective Using Mixed Media.
Reflection
The purpose of this assignment was to practice perspective. At first I was struggling with a few lines because my vanishing points were on different levels but then I fixed it. After finishing the sketch on campus I started to render it at home. I should’ve added more contact and improve the shading more because the whole drawing had the same intensity of colors

Homework 8
Ex(17): To Draw a Dramatic Scene Using Geometric Objects Showing Light Source and Dropped Shadow.
Reflection
I liked the colors that I used for the sketch. However, I failed to achieve the main point of the assignment which was to draw a shadow from perspective. I took the lines from the light source but I don’t think that I connected the to the correct point of the object. This resulted in a wrong shape for the shadow.

I enjoyed doing this assignment because it was related to architecture more than most of the assignments. We used transparent paper and I colored on it with water colors and it ruined the paper.

Homework 10
Final Project concept sketch
Reflection
I like when I do a concept for a project because I get to receive detailed feedback that really helps me in improving my design. When I presented my concept I received comments from the Dr and TAs that were really helpful.

Choose three key words that represent Sultan Hassan and Draw them
Reflection
The placement of the sketches makes it look so weak. In addition to choosing to draw on paper then sticking it not on the board directly. There isn’t enough contrast and I should’ve added shadows. The sky and brick design made the board look less presentable because it was a used idea.

Final Project
A Walk Through…
Reflection
The idea of this project was to visit ay place and sketch drawings that will give the feeling of having a walk through the place. I chose the Nile River because of its beauty, its one of my favorite places in Egypt. I chose to render in water colors because of the feeling that it gives. I really liked the colors and shades of my project and the shots were nice as well. I presented my sketches in an accordion book to give the feeling that you are moving sailing the Nile.
