La Garenne International School is a small family owned and operated international school in the Swiss Alps. With over 75 years of history, La Garenne International School aims to ensure that each learner should be happy, safe, healthy, valued and cherished.

GRADING
Grades are awarded on a scale from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest). Grade 3 is generally understood to be a passing grade for subjects at standard level, while 4 is generally considered a passing grade for subjects at higher level.
RANKING AND GPA
La Garenne does not report GPA or rank students in order of ability. Our students join us from a range of countries with a wide range of grading systems.
IB DIPLOMA SUBJECT CERTIFICATES
Students taking the LGIS High School Diploma study for individual IB Diploma subject certificates. On graduation, LGIS High School Diploma students receive the LGIS High School Diploma and certificates for the IB subjects in which they have been examined (except Mathematics).
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Students’ work is checked for academic misconduct and will not be submitted by the school if plagiarism or any other form of academic misconduct is suspected or identified.

Diploma Passing Requirements
International Baccalaureate Diploma
IB Diploma students must meet the requirements of the IB organisation in order to obtain a pass:
• Minimum 24 points
• Minimum 12 points in Higher Level subjects
• No more than two Grade 2s
• No Grade 1s
• No Grade N for Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge or contributing subject
• No Grade E for Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge
• Minimum 9 points in SL subjects
• No academic misconduct


High School Diploma
The LGIS High School Diploma is regulated by the United States ‘New England Association of School and Colleges’ (NEASC) and requires:
• Minimum 4 years study, passing at Grade 3 or above in IBDP English A or B, or 4 years with a minimum CEFR B2 level
• 3 years study of a language other than English, passing at IBDP Grade 3 or above, or evidence of obtaining CEFR level A2 or higher
• 3 years study of Humanities
• 3 years study of Mathematics and completion of the HSD Mathematics course
• 3 years study of laboratory Science subjects
• Minimum 2 years study in a Creative Arts subject or elective
• Satisfactory completion of the Creativity, Activity, Service component
• Satisfactory completion of the sport and expedition programmes
• No academic misconduct
