July 2 - 3, 2024 consisted of two action-packed days for Lacrosse Canada, as it hosted the tryouts for the Men’s and Women’s National Teams at the Canada Games Park in St. Catharines, Ontario. The events were held simultaneously and both Men and Women played two fast-paced and exciting scrimmages that would be crucial for determining who made the final roster to represent Canada on the world stage.
On the Men’s side, Canada White secured a victory in game one with a score of 7-3. The following day, Canada Red triumphed with a seven-goal lead, concluding the game at 10-3.
On the Women’s side, pressure was high as the players were making history, during their last round of tryouts for the first-ever Women’s Box Lacrosse National Team. Game one was full of action as Canada Red took the victory, ending the game at 11 - 9. And a close, high-paced game during day 2 ended with Canada White winning with a score of 11 - 12.
The official 23-player rosters have been announced for both Women’s and Men’s National Teams. And, during the next couple of months, the players will be preparing to represent Canada in the Box Lacrosse World Championships, hosted by World Lacrosse in Utica, New York, from September 20-29, 2024
As an organization, Lacrosse Canada would like to highlight the the incredibly exciting accomplishment of the first-ever National Women’s Box Lacrosse Team. This milestone is the result of a combined effort from coaches, players, staff, the board of directors, officials, and World Lacrosse who have worked tirelessly to advance and improve the sport of lacrosse. What many women in lacrosse have long dreamed of is now a reality, and we could not be more proud and excited for what lies ahead. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked extremely hard day in and day out to make this happen. We are incredibly proud of all the women who participated and tried out to be part of this historic moment.

Following the excitement of the Box Lacrosse Tryouts, coaches carefully selected the 23 athletes who will comprise the rosters for both the Men’s and Women’s teams.
The 23 athletes chosen for each team will not only represent Canada, but in the case of the women, they will also make history as the first National Women’s Team to compete and represent Canada in Box Lacrosse internationally.
The rosters have been announced, and the selected athletes are listed below. For more information and the latest updates, follow us on Instagram and visit our website at www.lacrosse.ca.

WOMEN’S ROSTER
MEN’S ROSTER

We’d like to thank all the players who participated during the tryout process for their hard work and dedication! And congratulations to those who were selected to represent Canada! We are proud and excited for what’s to come.

CATCH UP WITH BOX LACROSSE ATHLETE JENNA SNYDER AS WE GOT TO TALK TO HER DURING THE JULY 2 - 3 BOX LACROSSE TRYOUTS. SNYDER IS NOT ONLY MAKING HER MARK IN THE WOMEN’S GAME, BUT ALSO THE MEN’S GAME AT THE JR B LEVEL. HERE’S A GLIMPSE OF JENNA’S THOUGHTS ON PLAYING WITH THE BOYS AND THE TRYOUT PROCESS!
HOW DOES PLAYING JUNIOR B WITH THE BOYS COMPARE TO PLAYING WOMEN’S ?
Q: A: A:
“Jr B with the boys is a lot more physical. We have off-ball. You can hit, you can slash, there’s a lot more contact compared to the women’s league.”
“The women’s league is very quick and you have a lot more, you could say, IQ of the game to set up the plays. Since there isn’t contact off-ball, you have to think about how are you going to get through that middle and how are you going to get that ball to score a goal”

HOW WAS THE TRYOUT PROCESS?
“Being here has been an incredible experience. Before this, we had never been told as female athletes that there was an opportunity at the national level to play Box Lacrosse. I am so fortunate to be selected thus far into the camps and into the tryouts. And, I’m so excited to see how far Team Canada can go at the world level and bring home a Gold”
