LAndArt Studio is a boutique design firm specializing in landscape architecture and urban design. Principal and owner Mary Moore Wallinger has over 20 years of experience in the profession - designing, managing and overseeing projects both large and small. Ms. Wallinger’s robust portfolio includes municipal parks and plazas, outdoor recreation areas, institutional and corporate campuses, site planning, master planning, urban design, sustainable site design, healing gardens, and streetscapes. A number of her projects have received awards from the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

LAndArt Studio specializes in applying art to the land in a way that realizes the potential of the landscape while reflecting clients’ values and goals. Through its work, the firm emphasizes the human experience and the proportional relationships and details that bring spaces to life and build community. LAndArt Studio takes a thoughtful and creative approach to projects, always accounting for budgetary and maintenance considerations, and often applying an intensive charrette approach to facilitate interaction with the client and the site. Firm Overview

Nan Stolzenburg is the founder of Community Planning & Environmental Associates and principal consultant. Her career as a planning consultant, built upon a decade of prior work in the wildlife/natural resources field, has significantly contributed to rural community and environmental planning throughout the Hudson Valley and upstate regions of New York State. She concentrates on the unique community and environmental needs of small and rural communities by helping them plan for their future, providing comprehensive land use and environmental planning services. She has achieved the planning profession’s highest honor, being named to the prestigious American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) College of Fellows for her outstanding achievements in rural and environmental planning. Nan is an adjunct professor for the Department of Geography and Planning at the University at Albany and is a frequent instructor and panelist for community trainings across New York State.

Nan has been a practicing professional planner since 1995 and holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Wildlife Biology, and a second Master’s Degree in Regional Planning. She has over 30 years of professional and technical experience in many areas of land use and the environment, with special interests in small town and rural planning, community revitalization, comprehensive planning, and public participation. Her specialty areas include land use planning techniques for rural and small communities, SEQR (State Environmental Quality Review Act), open space, environmental and agriculture land use planning, comprehensive plan development, community involvement strategies, and development of zoning and land use regulations.

Nan is one of 53 people nationwide to have received the Certified Environmental Planner Advanced Certification in 2011. She has developed many comprehensive and strategic plans for upstate New York communities, some of which have won national and New York State planning awards. She is an expert SEQR practitioner and is much sought after for panel discussions and trainings related to SEQR and environmental review of projects. As a resident of a small, rural community in Schoharie County, Nan understands the unique characteristics and challenges facing rural communities. She assists her husband in the management of their farm located in Schoharie County.

Nan was the principal author for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s SEQR Workbooks – two companion guides to the new SEAF and FEAF forms. The workbooks received the 2014 Planning Excellence Award for Best Practice from the American Planning Association, Upstate New York Chapter.
