Province and National levels. At the Atlantic Province Summer Conclave hosted by Theta Chapter in Richmond, VA, we were awarded outstanding chapter report for creativity and original chapter events. We also traveled to the 56th Grand Council Convention in St. Pete Beach, FL in July and were recognized as the 11th ranked chapter in the fraternity and received the "Top Performer" designation. It has been my honor to serve as the 2013 Regent of Delta Lambda. The chapter is on a great track for success right now and I believe that 2014 will be no different. Be sure to stop by next time you're in The Creek! In Brotherly Love, Jordan Marie Ballou, 2013 Regent

As promised, 2013 was a BIG year for Delta Lambda. We had a great fall rush and pledging period where we welcomed 20 new brothers into our Kappa Psi family. As always, we participated in many service events on campus and out in the community. This semester we also hosted our Annual Big Bats Softball Tournament and the Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Golf Tournament, with great success. We are all moved in to our new home on Marshbanks Street in Buies Creek where we've spent many hours bonding over our painting and decorating skills, or the lack there of! A Word from the Historian Hello brothers! I have thoroughly enjoyed being Delta Lambda’s Historian this year and couldn’t be happier to be passing down the position to my Little, Shelby Reich. From taking photos at all the events to writing articles for The Mask and constructing this newsletter, I can’t think of a position I could have enjoyed more. For this issue of KY Clips, we thought we would give all the officers and chairs the opportunity to share their accomplishments and highlight their positions personally. Mandy Griffith, Historian

To say Delta Lambda excelled in service this year may be a grand understatement. Just in the fall semester of 2013, brothers participated in 9 different service events provided by the fraternity as well as numerous other service events. The brothers main service events of the fall were throwing the residents of Emerald Health and Rehab Center a monthly birthday party. Seeing the brothers interact with these residents has truly been a blessing. In the spring semester the brothers participated in 18 service events, ranging from tutoring at Buies Creek Elementary,

Emerald Health, Relay for Life and the ALS Walk in Greensboro in honor of Brother Darrell Haymore. The time and effort the brothers have put into this past year has been astounding and inspirational. Eliana Kurzam, 1st Vice Regent

Rush As 2nd Vice Regent and rush chair I, along with my rush committee, hosted three rush events at the beginning of the semester to recruit new pledges. The first of the three events was a “Kiss-n-Lei” luau themed event. The brothers mingled with the rushees and got to know them before a competition was held at the end of the event to see which brother knew the most about their rushee partner. The following week we held a service event followed by an ice cream social. Everyone teamed up in groups to help clean the roadsides around campus, then joined back together at the house to enjoy an ice cream sundae bar

and more quality time getting to know everyone. Our final event was a traditional Casino Night, in which we transformed the Kappa Psi house into a casino-like atmosphere with black jack, poker, roulette, and much more. Themed gift baskets provided by the brothers were raffled off with the game money that the rushees won throughout the night. Rush resulted in 20 proud new pledges that were ultimately inducted into our chapter at the end of the semester. Brandy Marriner, 2nd Vice Regent

Fundraising Kappa Psi had a successful and profitable semester in fundraising not only for Kappa Psi, but also for charities. Brothers were able to show off their baking skills in two bake sales, in which money raised went both to Kappa Psi and the American Red Cross. As always the most profitable event for Kappa Psi was Taco Dinner, which raised $663.26 for the Brotherhood. Brothers ate at Campus Grill and raised $175.00 which was donated to HelpHopeLive. Finally, the semester ended with the annual Campbell Pharmacy long-sleeve T-shirt sale. KY key rings and Campbell Pharmacy T-Shirts are currently for sale. Please contact Sarah Eggers (sleggers0415@email.campbell.edu) if interested. Ashley McCallister, Assistant Treasurer and Fundraising Chair

True Brotherhood I am very honored to have been the Chaplain to Delta Lambda's chapter. I was able to share God's love through prayer prior to our Brother's meeting and pray with individuals that needed spiritual support. It is truly rewarding to have the opportunity to give thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and announce his undying love for us. Through prayers, cards, flowers, etc, were ways that I reached out to our Brothers during trying and grieving times. Again, my sincere gratitude to have the opportunity to bless this chapter with God's grace through prayer. Syreeta Lyons, Chaplain

Alumni Relations The Alumni Relations Committee had a very progressive year in our attempt to get the Kappa Psi alumni brothers more involved and in the loop with our events on campus. Our ultimate goal is to strengthen our bond between the Alumni and collegiate brothers of Delta Lambda. In 2013, our committee hosted multiple events for the alumni brothers. In April, we hosted a 25th Anniversary Founder’s Day cookout in Saylor Park after the Disk Golf Tournament. We also hosted a Homecoming Celebration prior to the Homecoming Parade in October, where we invited the alumni brothers to the new Kappa Psi house for light refreshments before the game. Photo albums we scattered through Fall 2013

out the house for brothers to reminisce on old times. We had an amazing turnout and very positive responses from the event. Kappa Psi also won the Greek Headcount at the CUCPHS Homecoming Tailgate with 22 graduate brothers returning! Both of the events held in 2013 will hopefully be something the committee in years to come will continue on as a time for both collegiate and alumni brothers to bond and network, making our Kappa Psi brotherhood grow even stronger. Socializing as a Brotherhood This year as social chair, I tried to incorporate events for the brothers that were more casual. One event that had a very positive response was the s’mores roast. The brothers gathered around a fire pit and roasted marshmallows to make s’mores. Another big event we had this year was the initiation of 20 pledges this past fall! To commemorate their achievement, the social committee planned a breakfast for the recently initiated brothers as well as the brothers current brothers by providing beverages and biscuits from one of our local eateries, Campus Grill!

Big Bats Tournament On October 28th, the Delta Lambda chapter held its Annual Big Bats Softball Tournament at the intramural fields at Campbell University. Teams from the P1, P2, and P3 classes competed against each other to see who would be the best class. Ultimately, the P2 class came out on top. Around 40 brothers came out to watch the event and eat hot dogs and hamburgers afterwards; it was a great time for all. Big Bats was created to raise money for the Sgt Mickey Hutchens Foundation which gives scholarships to high school seniors who are children of police officers. It was created in memory of Sgt Mickey Hutchens, father of Brother Leah Hutchens Mitchell, who was killed in the line of duty. Blake Southerland, Intramural Chair

Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Golf Tournament The 7th Annual Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Golf Tournament was held this year at Keith Hill Country Club in Buies Creek, NC on September 14, 2013. The weather was perfect for golf and we had 10 teams come out to play. The winners were Team Fore Play. We had a silent auction throughout the day with items donated from local businesses and a Barbeque dinner prepared by Golf Chair, Kevin Jarvis! The day was ended with our first Cornhole Tournament. The winners were Brothers Luke Gooden and Carlton Floyd who won a set of Campbell-themed cornhole boards, made and donated by Brother Brock Dorsett. We were able to raise $2,200 to go towards the scholarship fund! Jordan Ballou, Regent Page 4

The Pledging Process During the Fall semester the Delta Lambda Chapter initiated 20 new Brothers. Throughout the semester the pledges completed numerous exciting tasks including multiple scavenger hunts and hosting social events. To be successful the new Brothers had to learn and practice the fundamentals of trust, dedication, and most importantly, teamwork. Hannah Calfee, Assistant Pledgemaster

The Kappa Psi House In Fall 2013, Kappa Psi enjoyed its first semester with an official fraternity house. After several semesters of developing a house proposal with the help of Dr. Adams, the Marshbanks House across from the Buies Creek Fire Department was granted to the Brotherhood as the only fraternity house on campus. Brothers met at the House over the summer, painting and decorating the House with past composites, awards, and other Kappa Psi memorabilia. Alumni brothers Dr. Lewis, Dr. Bastidas, and Dr. Foushee came to help paint, and Dr. Foushee presented the Brotherhood with a grill purchased by the Pledge Class of 1996, which was used to prepare lunch for the Brothers working on the House. Due to the very generous donations from our alumni, the Brotherhood was able to get the House ready for three residents, Brad McNeill, Riley Bowers, and Sam Eberwein, to move in. The Kappa Psi House became

the primary location for events, such as the annual Casino Night rush and Toga Party, as well as a perfect place for Brothers to fellowship and study, facilitating several cookouts throughout the semester. The Fall 2013 Pledge Class was able to spend time with Brothers and complete pledge activities at the House. At Campbell University's Homecoming, many alumni Brothers came by to tour the House and enjoy pre-game snacks. Current Brothers enjoyed going through pictures and hearing about past days in Kappa Psi from the alumni Brothers. The Brotherhood greatly appreciates all of the support we have received from our alumni Brothers and invite all to visit the House. We are exciting to continue using the Kappa Psi House to create more memories and grow stronger and closer as a Brotherhood. Jennifer Wilson, House Committee
