Greetings From the Regent! The Brothers of Delta Lambda Chapter returned to the Creek for what proved to be a great Fall Semester. A very successful rush season, thanks to the Rush committee led by 2nd Vice Regent Tyler Bradshaw, ushered in a new pledge class eager to join Kappa Psi. The Brothers anxiously awaited the arrival of pledging and readily began training the pledges on what it takes to become a Brother of Kappa Psi. The Fall Semester is filled with many events that foster the ideals of Kappa Psi and instill pride into every Brother of Delta Lambda. Signature outings such as Adopt-aHighway, the annual Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Golf Tournament, and Big Bats are but a few of the traditions here at Delta Lambda that Brothers and pledges alike will strive to maintain for years to come. The eventful semester came to a close as it always does, but not before initiating 17 pledges into the Brotherhood of Kappa Psi. We at Delta Lambda are excited and elated for our new Brothers and look forward to their impact here at Campbell. The Chapter CLIPS newsletter continues to provide our fellow chapters, as well as alumni, with an up to date breakdown of the happenings here at Delta Lambda. Fundraising Events Kappa Psi has been involved in a number of fundraising activities this year and continues to work to provide for charities and foundations of particular importance to the brothers. We were privileged enough to be able to give back to wonderful organizations such as the American Red Cross, Children’s Miracle Network and the American Heart Association- Go Red for Women campaign. Service . . .To support all projects which will advance the profession of pharmacy & to actively participate. This fall was a busy season for the brothers of Delta Lambda! We continued to keep Buies Creek clean and green by completing our quarterly Adopt-a-Highway roadside cleanups and recycling. As part of our professional activities, we helped out at the Cardiac 5K by hosting a “Healthy Hands” booth to promote awareness for the upcoming flu season. Brothers were also there to assist in giving blood pressure and screenings. Kappa Psi had 8 brothers complete the Cardiac 5K. In October, we hosted a faculty appreciation breakfast in honor of American Pharmacist’s Month. It was a great success and we had a good turnout. To wrap up our year of service we completed a clothing drive for Coat’s Elementary. We were able to donate clothing for many young children in need.

New this year to our service projects was volunteering at Carolina Tiger Rescue of North Carolina. This was a great year of service for our fraternity and I can’t wait to see what we can do in 2013!
Big Bats Tournament This past October, the Delta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Psi held our 4th annual Big Bats Softball Tournament. We were able to raise one-hundred and twenty five dollars for the Sergeant Mickey Hutchens Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship was created in honor of Sgt. Mickey Hutchens, father of our Brother Leah Hutchens, who was killed in the line of duty in 2009. Brother Blake Southerland won the Home Run Derby as a pledge, and the P3 class went home as champions of the tournament. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s tournament!

Fall Rush Events We had 3 Fall Rush events that were a huge success! The first was “Kiss N Lei “, held at a round robin. Rushes had the chance to rotate to our event where we played games such as water balloon toss and limbo! Our second rush event was “Casino Night”. Rushes were given monopoly money to play casino games such as blackjack, craps, roulette, poker, etc. At the end of the night the money was used to auction off gift baskets provided by the Brothers. This rush event is favorite among Brothers and rushes alike! Our 3rd rush event was, “Rushing Roadside & Pool Party”. Brothers and Rushes worked together to clean the roadside of Buies Creek. This is the 2nd year we have had this rush event and it is a great opportunity to show prospective pledges our commitment to service. After working up a sweat we all went back to take a dip in the pool, and grab some snacks!

Fellowship The brothers of Delta Lambda had an eventful Fall semester with lots of activities planned for fostering fellowship among the brotherhood. After our new pledges were pinned we had a dinner at a local restaurant so that we could get to know our new pledges. We then held a Toga Party, which is our tradition to kick off the new school year and to welcome the pledges. Brothers also participated in a potluck dinner. We had the dinner after a brother meeting and were able to unwind after a long day of classes. Pledges also attended the potluck dinner so that we could get to know them better.

Buies Creek Graduate Chapter Any Kappa Psi Graduate Brother may join any graduate chapter. If you live out of state, you can utilize the Graduate Chapter Referral Form on www.kappapsi.org. The Buies Creek Graduate Chapter is a great place for Delta Lambda initiates. According to the bylaws, dues are $15 per year. Buies Creek Graduate Chapter is always seeking Graduate Brothers who would like to network, socialize, and advise current and past initiates of Delta Lambda a few times a year. Scholarship Congratulations to brother Sean Morrow for being chosen as the 2012-2013 Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Scholarship recipient. Sean is a third year student pharmacist from King, NC. He has served Delta Lambda as Sergeant at Arms and Legislative Committee Chair over the past year. He currently works at Wal-Mart Pharmacy and plans to continue to practice there after graduation. Sean was excited to receive this scholarship and said that he was, “honored to carry on the legacy of Brie Anne Reynolds not only through a scholarship, but in the way that [he] conducts [his] Sean Morrow, 2012-2013 Scholarship Recipient life".
Golf Tournament Update

On October 6, 2012 we hosted the 6th annual Brie Anne Reynolds Memorial Golf Tournament at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Fuquay Varina, NC. Throughout the day we had several contests on the holes as well as a putting contest. We had a 50/50 raffle with tons of prizes. The most sought after prize was an iPod shuffle!! We had 10 teams participate and raised $2,890 in sponsorship that went directly to the scholarship. The winning team was brothers Rachel Warren (P2), Luke Gooden (P3), Carlton Floyd (P3), and Riley Bowers (P2). Thanks to everyone for your help and support. We had a great tournament this year and we hope to make it even better in the years to come!
Alumni Corner Delta Lambda will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary in April 2013! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to the BEST fraternity in the world and we hope to be around for the 50th anniversary as well!
