Greetings From the Regent! After the elections at the end of November, the newly elected officer board was eager to get started and continue Kappa Psi’s tradition of excellence. After returning to campus, we jumped right back in, planning for the spring semester, which included pledging, community service activities, and the Annual Cadet Ball. At the end of January, 22 Brothers represented Delta Lambda at the 2015 Atlantic Province Winter Conclave in Athens, GA. Based on the number of Brothers that we had present plus the distance that we had traveled to Conclave, we won the Man Mile Award given by the Atlantic Province. Also during the 2015 Winter Conclave, Brothers Eliana Kurzum and Jordan Ballou were elected to the Atlantic Province Executive Board to serve as the Secretary and Vice Satrap, respectively.

Delta Lambda was involved in many philanthropic events throughout the spring semester, which included helping the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences raise close to $2500 for Relay for Life. We also hosted our first Serving to Serve Volleyball Tournament, the proceeds of which went to support Kappa Psi’s national philanthropy, the American Red Cross. We initiated three wonderful new brothers this spring, all of which I know will serve to increase the strength of our chapter. -Emily Johnson, Regent

Service I'm extremely proud of the service Delta Lambda was able to accomplish over the past semester. By uniting 99 hands to help, we were able to serve 18 different service agencies for over 500 combined Brotherhood service hours! While participating with some of our chapter's favorite service agencies like Carolina Tiger Rescue and AdoptA-Highway, we were also able to partner with brand new service agencies. Notable new events include Delta Lambda's first ever American Red Cross blood drive, in which we were able to exceed our goal of donated blood, as well as a clothes drive for the

Salvation Army in which we donated more pounds of clothes than any chapter in our Province. Though the statistics from last semester are impressive, they pale in comparison to the real impact that Delta Lambda was able to make on its surrounding community. I am blessed to have been a part of it, and I cannot wait to see what we have in store for the coming semester. -Andrew Darkow, 1st Vice Regent

Fundraising Delta Lambda had many great fundraising events throughout the semester. We had our second annual BBQ dinner which was a success despite the snow that postponed it once, and forced a change in venue at the last minute. Alex Carlisle and the Fundraising committee did a fantastic job saving the dinner and making it an overall success. The money raised from the BBQ went to our formal. We also had a campus grill fundraiser, a hoodie sale and a bake sale that raised money for the American Red Cross. Spring Rush The brothers of Delta Lambda had such a wonderful Rush Season this past spring. We participated in the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Annual Potluck dinner for our first rush event, where we were able to get the Kappa Psi name out there to all the rushees who attended. We then hosted a Rush/Service Event where rushees and brothers alike created homemade Valentine’s Day Cards for the residents of the local nursing home. This allowed rushees to see how important giving back to the community is to Delta Lambda and Kappa Psi as a whole. Our third and final rush event was a Winter Wonderland hosted at our house where we were able to get to know the rushees a bit more and bond. -Shelby Reich, 2nd Vice Regent

The Pledging Process Pledging in the spring of 2015 was an amazing journey. There were only three of us, which gave us the opportunity to get to know each other really well and made the bond we shared at the end of the process that much stronger. During pledging, we were given different tasks to complete each week, while obtaining signatures from the Kappa Psi brothers that were on campus. This gave us the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with our older brothers. Furthermore, interviews were to be conducted once from every Kappa Psi brother. Some of the projects included, hosting a BBQ event, help setting up and participating in a volleyball tournament and hosting a pledge party for the Kappa Psi brothers. Each week, we were quizzed on everything and anything that dealt with Kappa Psi matters. We were tested on the rules or obligations, the history of Spring ‘15 Pledge Class (from left to right), Nshan Muradyan, Shelby Wood and Andrew Chinnes Kappa Psi, etc, we had to know every detail by heart. After the process of pledging was over and we were initiated into the brotherhood, I realized that all that we had to do was meant to bring more quality into Kappa Psi as well as cement and engrave the love of Kappa Psi in us. I thoroughly enjoyed pledging for Kappa Psi and made lifelong friends in this pharmaceutical fraternity. Not only was it one of the best decisions that I have made socially, but also to make me into a better student and soon to be pharmacist. -Nshan Muradyan, Spring ‘15 Pledge Class

Social Events Social committee started off the semester strong by partnering with the Service committee for our first Social-Service event, combining the efforts of both committees to draw in more brothers to our clothing drive and back-to-school get-together. After Christmas break, brothers came back with loads of clothes to donate then caught up with one another at the house over light refreshments. We’re hoping to continue this practice of planning events across multiple committees to attract brothers to a new variety of fun activities that can also It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No it’s just Little d and Big D make a difference in our community. After pinning our pledges for the spring semes- playing around at the “Heroes and Villains Party”. ter, Social committee arranged for the brothers to have dinner with the potential new brothers at Mi Casitas. Everyone had a wonderful time eating at a large table all together and it was a great event for meeting the pledges. A week later, Social committee hosted our Heroes and Villains event to officially welcome the pledges in true Kappa Psi style. Brothers and pledges alike entered a comic book world where everyone dressed as their alter egos and enjoyed a night of laughs and fellowship. The next major Social event was the Kappa Psifari. The KY house was transformed into a jungle paradise where the ceilings disappeared in a sea of vines. Welcome to the Jungle, the Kappa Psi Jungle. (From Wild animal sounds could be heard all over, and even a left to right) Michelle Anderson, Taylor Wolfe, Lara waterfall spilled into the sunroom! Guests enjoyed treats Rajic and Hannah Calfee. such as a chocolate fondue “mud bath” (with animal crackers for dipping), jungle fruit, and sliced veggies shaped like snakes and other animals. With everyone from zoo keepers to cheetahs in attendance, it was certainly a wild event! Outside of these major events, Social committee also hosted a few small events to ensure brothers took time to enjoy each other’s company. We held a crafts circle event where interested brothers could come learn to knit from each other. In addition, we offered a muchneeded exam break in the form of a Defy Gravity trip. Bouncing away exam jitters and hanging out in downtown Raleigh seemed the perfect way for (From left to right) Skylar Simmons, Ashlee Baucom, Jason our brotherhood to round out the spring semesAtkinson, Phillip DeVillier, Kaitlyn Eldridge & Michele Williams., looking their Kappa Psi best after initiation. ter! -Joshua Holmes, Social Committee Chair . Formal We held our annual Cadet Ball this year on March 20, 2015 at Sitti in Raleigh. It was a great night of fun. The menu was not traditional, but the food was delicious! There was a great brother turnout for this event. The pledge classes from the past year received their superlatives. We also recognized the officers from 2014 for all of their hard work. Michelle Anderson won Brother of the Year. Finally, the brothers enjoyed a slide show that included Brothers enjoying themselves at the Cadet Ball in Raleigh photos from the last year. Kylie Carpenter, the Formal Chair did an amazing job putting together this event. She even created cards for each brother who attended that included their picture on the front and a personalized message from Kylie herself!

Alumni Relations The Alumni/Public relations committee planned some great events this Spring. In February, both current and alumni brothers came together before a Campbell basketball game to honor Dr. Michael Adams for his service to Delta Lambda in addition to congratulating him on becoming the new Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Emily Johnson, the Regent of Delta Lambda presented Dr. Adams with a gold Brother pin, and a scrapbook, which included messages written by various brothers. Some brothers read their messages to Dr. Adams. In April we had our Founder’s Day celebration at the Kappa Psi House. Current and alumni brothers came together to grill out, play games, and have a good time. To find out about future events please visit our website at:
