In this final issue of the school year, you will see the fantastic work of our Book-ish team! They have dedicated their time to design and write about interesting news and events. Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder that may cause sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics. TS is one of a group of disorders of the developing nervous system called tic disorders.

The key features are tics – involuntary sounds and movements. TS is a genetic condition that often runs in families. The genetic cause of TS is complex, as no one single gene has been identified to be the cause of the condition. Over 300,000 children and adults are living with TS in the UK.

Pride Month is celebrated in June to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. The first official Pride parade began the following year on the i f h Stonewall Riots, with et Liberation Day.
There was a Pride book display in the library that included lots of fiction and non-fiction books about lgbt+ topics.
National Best Friends Day falls on June 8 each year to honour your closest and dearest friend. The relationship between best friends is often fierce and can withstand distance, storms and silence. Whether we ’ ve known them all our lives or they are more recently acquired, best friends make tough times bearable, fun times memorable, and memorable times priceless.
House sports include: relay, 100m, 200m, 800m and tug of war
Sports inside include: 10 pin bowling, press ups, curling and archery where you can win points!
Sports on the field include shotput, javelin, speed bounce, and egg and spoon race
World Environment Day is all about celebrating our world and protecting it.
World Environment Day takes place on the 5th of June as this is the date the UN held an important conference on how to help the environment.
In June there are other important environmental days such as:
World Oceans Day - 8th June (Celebrating the wonders of the ocean)
World Rainforest Day22nd June (Raising awareness for protecting rainforests)
There are many ways you can help out the environment including:
Reusing and recycling things
Use long lasting light-bulbs
Instead of using plastic bags, buy reusable ones Use sustainable travel like biking or using public transport
First started in France 1982 World Music Day was originally an idea thought of by American musician, Joel Cohen in the 1970s. He worked for a French radio station and wanted live music to be played on the evening of the 21st June to welcome the first day of summer.

Whale sharks are not whales, they are sharks
Eating is laborious work for the sharks
They can be very old and still migrate a long way!
Whale Sharks are under threat from over-fishing and hunting for their valuable body parts.
