Vorwort Preface Liebe Besucher und Gäste der Kurzfilmtage, wir freuen uns, nach zwei Jahren nur im Internet, dieses Jahr ins Kino zurückzukehren. Es erwarten Sie nicht nur Filmprogramme in verschiedenen Spielstätten, sondern auch Performances, Lectu res, Podiumsdiskussionen und vieles andere mehr – und nicht zu letzt unsere Festival Bar. Natürlich beachten wir alle geltenden Corona-Regeln und bitten alle unsere Gäste, ebenfalls darauf zu achten.

D ear festival visitors and guests, We are delighted, after two online editions, to return to the cinemas this year, where we will screen not only film programmes in various venues, but also offer performances, lectures, panel discussions and many other special events – and, last but not least, our Festival Bar. We will of course comply with all current COVID regulations and ask all our guests to do the same. This programme booklet is meant to help you find your way around this very varied world. It provides information and quick assistance, even about where to go when you‘re hungry and other practical matters. We hope you enjoy using it and would be happy to have your feedback at pr@kurzfilmtage.de. We wish you an exciting time at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen 2022. In diesem Jahr finden die Kurzfilmtage online vom 30. April bis 3. Mai statt, in Oberhausen vom 4. bis 9. Mai. Alle Filmvorführungen vor Ort finden in den zwei Festivalkinos der Kurzfilmtage, dem Licht burg Filmpalast und dem Kino im Walzenlager, statt. Es gelten die jeweils aktuellen Corona-Regeln. Eintrittspreise gelten für beide Kinos. This year Oberhausen takes place online from 30 April to 3 May and on-site from 4 to 9 May. All screenings in Oberhausen take place in the two festival cinemas, Lichtburg Filmpalast and Kino im Walzenlager. All current Corona regulations will be observed. Ticket prices apply to both venues.

Was bewirkt das? Was für einen Radius, welche Art Expansion verlangen Filmemacher*innen? Filmmaking on the African continent was expansion from the very beginning, expanded through new and contradictory perspectives, through other modes of narration and representation, through a cinema that had been banned by colonial legislation until the 1960s. What does this enable? What radius and what kind of expansion do filmmakers demand?

Von der Ausbildung über Kinos, Festivals und Kunstveranstaltungen werfen wir einen neuen Blick auf die Sammlung und imaginieren Wege, wie die Verbreitung analogen Kinos gesteigert werden kann. While major collections and archives cultivate their photochemical facilities and analogue know-how, their ability to loan celluloid prints gets restricted. Starting with education and moving to cinemas, festivals and art events we will re-examine the collection and imagine paths through which the traffic of analogue cinema can be multiplied.
