Clinical Mental Health Counseling Residency Agenda Friday, October 17, 2025 – October 19, 2025 MHC 660 PRACTICUM IN COUNSELING RESIDENCY SCHEDULE Attendance and participation are for all activities throughout the Residency weekend. Residency is an orientation and acclimation to the program. It is an opportunity to interact with faculty and peers while enhancing student learning. Residency is designed to fulfill the requirements of the above course. Due to the nature of the learning environment, students must attend all sections as there are components in which the student presents information relating to the class. Residency is a program and course requirement. Friday, June 6, 2025 Turner Auditorium Greetings - Faculty will take attendance 8:00 am - 8:15 am Presenter: Dr. Dominguez CACREP 2024 Standards Section 3.E Welcome, Overview of Learning Objectives, & Faculty Introductions 8:15 am - 9:00 am Presenters: Dr. Dominguez, Dean Robertson-Arduengo, all faculty CACREP 2024 Standards Section 3.E Student Services & Vice Chancellor 9:00 am - 10:00 am Presenter: Heather Cordner & Dr. Robert Keiser Objective: Provide students with information about the university, resources, and services available to students. 10:00 am -10:15 am SELF-CARE BREAK Ethical & Legal Issues in Group: Confidentiality, Privacy, Professionalism, and 10:15 am -11:15 am Multiculturalism/Diversity Review (tie into group experience for the weekend) Presenter: Dr. Hamblin & Dr. Kemp Objective: Provide residency participants with expectations for confidentiality and privacy during the residency and procedures for establishing and maintaining these. The presenter will review the importance of confidentiality and privacy to the counseling relationship and their role in developing trust and emotional safety. This review will cover the collaborative relationship between counselor and client, establishing and upholding appropriate boundaries, the limits of confidentiality, maintaining confidentiality, and multicultural and diversity considerations (American Counseling Association, 2014).
