RVHS Bulletin Weekending Friday 4th December 2020 3370pts
Message from the Headteacher As we are approaching the end of our autumn term, I would like to take this o pportunity to thank all of our parents and students for their support in a time that has been both unusual and challenging. In these last few weeks we have seen increasing numbers of positive cases within our school community and have had significant numbers of students at home self -isolating. I am pleased with the school’s response to these incidents and the continued curriculum offered by the teachers. Students are receiving either a full remote curriculum via the Google classroom, where the whole bubble is self-isolating, or a blended curriculum for other year groups, where only groups within the bubble are self-isolating. Please see our Home Learning section further on in the bulletin or on our website. Each positive case is dealt with individually in liaison with Public Health England and close contacts identified to try to minimise the disruption. My teachers have become highly efficient at delivering ‘live’ lessons and this is bespoke for different groups of students depending on the Year group and staff availability. The students' attitude towards the safety plans in school remain quite outstanding. We have made a further amendment to our Student Behaviour Addendum to reflect the expectation of a student participating in a ‘live’ lesson. Remote or physical learning cannot be disrupted by poor behaviour.

We are in Tier 2 in this area and it is supportive to all in the schoo l community if the rules around socialising outside of school are followed. I have been asked by the Department of Education to publicise the Tier 2 posters in school. Our full Safety Plan can be found on our website. Please can all parents of Year 11 and Year 13 students please note the government announcement yesterday regarding the additional support being put in place for the summer exams. Full guidance can be read here. This guidance confirms that the exams 2021 will be going ahead and there are going to be reasonable adjustments made. These adjustments are in recognition of the disruption that some students have received nationally to their education during the pandemic. These will include: A three-week delay to the start of the exams More generous grading than usual, in line with national outcomes from 2020, so students this year are not disadvantaged Students receiving advance notice of some topic areas covered in GCSE, AS and A levels to focus revision;
