“Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”

RVHS Bulletin Weekending Friday 1st July 2022 Dear Parents/ Carers,

It is that ‘transition’ time of year for Roding Valley; a period of farewells and welcomes. We have really enjoyed meeting and getting to know our new cohort of Year 7s, who will officially join us in September. We are oversubscribed and our upcoming students were all so excited and happy to be joining our school community. The students enjoyed a fun-packed transition day in school and I would like to thank all of the Year 9 students who supported them on the day. They were all so mature and will be brilliant YES prefects of the future. On Tuesday, we said goodbye to our Year 11s. They are a fabulous year group who have just ‘got on with it’, they have shown great resilience and aspiration, especially during this exam season. They have worked so hard, so it was a real privilege to see them all together having such fun at the Prom. We welcomed a large number of them back today for the Sixth Form Transition Day, they seem to have grown up overnight. For those Year 11s who are not returning to our sixth form, I would like to take the opportunity to wish them every success for the future and please stay in touch and let us know how you are getting on. You will always be part of the Roding Valley community. Our Year 13s leave us on Tuesday and we will be sad to see them leave but we are all so proud of the wonderful young people that they have become. They have very ambitious plans, and I look forward to seeing them all on Results Day. Many are waiting on Russell Group University places and degree-level apprenticeships. They have certainly not let the challenges of the pandemic hold them back and have all worked very hard to excel. We could not be prouder of them all.

There are lots of pictures in the bulletin of all the transition events Timings School Day - From September 2022 Following the publication of the government's Schools White Paper in March 2022, the school will need to increase its curriculum time by 10 minutes per day, from September 2022. We have agreed that this additional curriculum time will be added into the Period 1 lessons. This would support activities such as Bedrock (vocabulary builder), Personal Development lessons, uniform & attendance monitoring, enhanced student careers support and themed assemblies. It will also be used for interventions across the curriculum including literacy and reading.
