RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Week ending: Friday 15th March 2019 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”
Message from the Head of School
I would like to thank all of Parents that attended our Year 7 Parents Evening last week; it was a very positive evening and I hope that the information provided will prove useful in supporting your child with their learning. This week, I have felt very privileged to be involved Year 11 Sixth Form interviews. We do have record numbers applying and our application process and entry requirements are quite rigorous. It was nice to speak with such aspirational young people and spend some time on an individual basis, discussing their interests and goals for the future. Parents of Year 11 and 13 students will have received a letter this week inviting them to attend our Exam Support Evening on Monday 25th March at 6pm. I would encourage parents to attend as the following topics will be covered, which help you to support your child through their upcoming exams:
Important information regarding public examinations including resources to take away.
Practical revision strategies that you can use at home- involving both students and parents.
How to use your son/daughters report/PPE results to inform revision.
How to plan revision time effectively over the weeks and months ahead. Over the coming weeks, our staff will be teaching our exam students a different revision technique each week, next week our students will all be learning how to create and use the Buzan Mind Map to revise.
