RVHS Parent Bulletin Aspiration

Respect Endeavour

Week ending: Friday 15th June 2018 “Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.

Message from the Head of School It has been another busy, exciting and productive week at RVHS. On Monday we welcomed back our Year 12 students to continue their A Level studies following their AS Internal and External examinations. We are confident their hard work will reap rewards and are excited to have them back in school. On Wednesday, it was our pleasure to welcome Ray James CBE, National Director Learning Disability, to speak to a number of students promoting careers in the NHS. He spoke about the vast number of career opportunities in the NHS including doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, dentists and many more, as well as inspiring young people to take up science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects. He said: "I really enjoyed the opportunity to talk with and listen to students, sharing how three generations of my family have very different roles in the NHS". I'm sure he will have inspired many of our students. A number of RVHS teachers have been out in the local community this week leading specialist teaching sessions at our local primary schools. It is great to work so closely with local schools and have the opportunity to share our teaching skills and resources with Year 5 and 6 pupils. We look forward to welcoming many of these students in September as our new Year 7s. Our own teaching staff also had the opportunity to share good practice this week in an after school CPD session which highlighted how much excellent work is being done to promote the accelerated progress of our pupils across all of our Year groups. At Roding Valley High School, we are constantly striving to improve the level of education and all round experience that we offer our students. As parents your feedback is vital in us being able to self-evaluate and make changes to move forward where needed. Please could you spare 5 minutes to complete our Parent Feedback Questionnaire The questionnaire is anonymous but if you specifically want a response to the comments made then you would need to leave your email or phone number.
