SEMI-ANNUAL GARAGE SALE IN ABERDEEN GREEN

Attention Aberdeen Green Homeowners – It’s time to Spring Clean (and make some extra cash)! Our semi-annual garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 21st from 7 AM till 2 PM. Advertising will be in the Houston Chronicle and local newsletter and signs will be placed at each entrance of the neighborhood.

2012 ANNUAL MEETING UPDATE

The Association was unable to meet the membership quorum requirements of 10% at the original annual meeting called on February 28, 2012. Pursuant to legislative changes to the Texas Property Code adopted in 2011, a homeowners association must have a formal election of directors each year, thus requiring we re-call the election of directors until such time as we meet the 10% quorum. In an effort to avoid costly expenditures by re-calling the entire meeting, the Association is exercising its right to perform an online election. There are two positions available for three year terms. We are accepting interested nominees for the ballot at this time and further information regarding the online voting process will be distributed as available. If you are interested in placing your name on the ballot, please contact management at 1-866-842-4645, ext. 3161 or email sherri@highsierramanagement.com.

2012 SUMMER POOL HOURS

The pool will open May 26th through September 3rd. During the summer season the pool will be open the following hours: Monday: Closed for cleaning Tuesday – Saturday: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Sunday: 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Resident Services section. Have a great summer!

PET POLICY AND ETIQUETTE

We understand your pets are very important to you and want to be a pet friendly community. However, we have received many complaints that there are pet owners not following the rules of the community when it comes to pet etiquette. Please, be aware and make a conscious effort to the adhere to the following guidelines: Only two pets per household - refer to governing documents regarding height and weight limits. Pick up pet waste and discard properly. Do not allow pets to roam around the community unrestrained - it’s the law! This includes cats too! Do not allow dogs to bark continuously disturbing neighbors.

When you buy ‘loose’ mulch that is trucked to your home, you are also buying ants, roaches, termites, etc… Spend a little more on bagged material and save lots of future pest problems. Shrubs, Flowers and groundcovers - Trim all shrubs/plants at least 12 - 18 back from your home. Do your best to create a plant free zone that is 18 - 24 wide around your home. The exception is your lawn - it can grow up next to the slab as long as you keep it 4 - 6 below the top of the slab. The most conducive to termite infestation are groundcover plantings, growing high against your homes exterior or (especially) ivy that grows on your walls. Trees - Spray your trees at least twice annually. The spring spray eliminates overwintering pests and fungi while preparing trees to resist the pest onslaught of summer with residual pesticides. The fall spray also kills pests from the summer, prevents most fungi from occurring over the winter and puts your valuable asset off to a healthy winter’s dormancy.

Performances were polished, sets were vibrant, costumes clever and our students dazzled us with their lively spirit. The Varsity Men’s and Women’s choirs, along with Acapella and Chamber choirs were melded together fantastically and masterfully in two weeks for an event that left you feeling happy and wanting more. Great job to all the behind the scene helpers, the baking parents, the costume making mom’s and our amazing choir directors! You pulled off yet another smashing, scene stealing show! BRAVO!

“I’m In PAIN” Can Chiropractic Help ME ? We are often asked, “What’s the best way of finding out whether or not a doctor of chiropractic can help my problem?” We believe the answer can be found in a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including x-rays. And to help find out for sure, we will do a complete consultation and examination, including x-rays, if necessary, (procedures that normally cost $187.00 or more) for $25.00. We will make this special program available through APRIL. The only exception to the offer involves personal injury cases (workers’ compensation and auto accidents) in which there is no charge directly to the patient.

On Sunday morning, February 12th at the 10:45 Am service, mr. Hugh Corpening, the District Committee Chairperson for the Copperhead District of Boy Scouts of America, presented to Dr. Dave meadows, senior pastor at Cornerstone United methodist Church, the Copperhead District Chartered Partner Award for 2011. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible and productive society. Cornerstone UmC, with campuses at 15919 Ridge Park Dr. and 18081 West Road in northwest Houston, currently sponsors onetenth of the Scouting units in the Copperhead District. For 15 years, Cornerstone has sponsored Troop 3 and for 10 years the church has sponsored Troop 1296. In 2008, Crew 396 was founded to serve the older youth of both of these troops as well as the high school age This year, Pack 833 and Troop 421 also needed sponsors. Once believes that Scouting with its emphasis as expressed in “The Scout Oath” to “…do my duty to God and County…to help other people at all times…to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight” is certainly consistent with the Christian faith. People normally think of church as a place that accepts donations, but this week Cypress United methodist Church is giving a donation of $8,000 to Adam Elementary School to be used to complete their running track. The check presentation ceremony was Wednesday, February 29th, at 11:30 Am at Adam Elementary, 11303 Honeygrove, in Houston. “Our theme for our Christmas Eve offering was ‘Give It All Away’,” says Jerome Brimmage, Senior Pastor at Cypress UmC. “We felt led to give 100% of our Christmas Eve offering to support local and global missions. Locally, that portion of the money is going to Adam.” The track project at Adam has been in the works for eight years, but had stalled due to lack of funding. Cypress UmC “adopted” Adam Elementary in 2011 and has been instrumental in providing backpacks, school supplies and volunteers to help the students and staff at the school. T he program has been so successful; other local schools have contacted Cypress UmC, to see if they can be adopted as well.

Iggy the Iguana

Turtle Town

Students will learn how to think outside of the box and create unique characters with interesting stories. The author, Melissa Williams, will discuss the way she used her own experiences with her pets to create the fictional characters in Iggy the Iguana and Turtle Town series while teaching the use of archetypes, conflict resolution and original storyline development tactics. Students will learn how to bring their own ideas to life through words and illustrations as professional illustrator Ryan Shaw explains the process of connecting to the author’s characters with art. During the week, the students will have the opportunity to use their newly learned skills to come up with their own character and develop a unique short story that will be eligible for publication in the “I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids” contest.

Pet HotLine neWs A very important thing you can do is have a collar with some form of ID and your phone number on it. Pet stores have special ID’s for your pets. Many pet owners are now “chipping” the pets. If found and taken to a vet they can scan chip and find the owner. If your pet has a rabies tag, the vet has your name and #. The first thing I ask a caller is “does the pet have ID on it.” If it does, I will help contact the # on the ID and get the pet to it’s owner ASAP. Or the owner can pick up their lost pet. Having an ID on a pet makes life easier for all. Marie Nugent - 281-859-1104

We are encouraging everyone across the state of Texas to wear purple on Friday, April 13th, as a visible way to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Officers Gayle Minto - President Judy VanDyke Amy Matthias Shelly Schmitz - Treasurer Terry Martin - Secretary/Assistant Treasurer Legal Counsel - Michael Gainer

Please call HPCA OFFICE at 281-463-1216 to reach a board member.

PURPOSE OF HUNTER’S PARK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION Hunter’s Park Community Association handles the financial and legal affairs of the subdivision. Each lot owner is required to pay an annual maintenance fee which is used to pay street lights; pay taxes on and maintain the common areas, such as the swimming pools, tennis courts, etc.; pay for security; and pay legal expenses incurred to enforce the deed restrictions. The Board meets every other month at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the community building. Residents are welcome to attend. Anyone wishing to place an item on the agenda should call the HPCA office in advance. The Annual Meeting of Members is held on the 4th Thursday of January. Members hold three year staggered terms and are elected. The election process is as follows: 1) Mail in ballots will be mailed out with the Annual Maintenance fee statements. 2) Voting in person will begin on the 1st Monday after the Annual Meeting ending on the following Saturday at 7pm.

HPCA Office

Office Phone: 281 463-1216 Office Hrs: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mon- Fri. Closed Weekends and Major Holidays HPCA employs two workers to provide coverage for the office. Every effort is made to have one of the two employees in the office at all times. Occasionally business of the association may require us to be out of the office for a short period of time. If we are out of the office when you call or if you call after hours, please leave a message on the answering machine and your calls will be returned as soon as possible during office hours.

DEED RESTRICTIONS Deed restrictions are strictly enforced by Hunter’s Park Community Association. Copies of the restrictions are available at the association’s office or by mail (call 281 463-1216). Complaint forms are included in every Bear Creek Newsletter for your convenience. The association’s office verifies complaints and writes letters to violators. HPCA will initiate legal action when warranted, to enforce the deed restrictions. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL You must submit any plans for improvements or modifications of your home to the Hunter’s Park Community Association Office. Your plans will be checked to insure that they comply with the deed restrictions. This includes re-roofing, playforts (8 ft. height limit), temporary storage buildings, etc. Please call the office at 281 463-1216 if you need any additional help or assistance. SECURITY Hunter’s Park Community Association provides additional security currently through a contract with Commissioners Court for four Harris County Constables. HPCA also hires off-duty deputies on an as-needed basis for additional coverage. Please call the Constable’s Office at 281 463-6666 to report any suspicious person, activity or for vacation watch. There is a voluntary $2.00 security contribution on the M.U.D. #6 water bill that goes to each homeowner. The voluntary contributions can only be used to pay for security. This contribution enables HPCA to provide more coverage without raising maintenance fees. Judy - Security Directory - HPCA - (281) 463-1216

WASTE CORPORATION OF TEXAS (WCA) WCA collects our trash on Tuesdays and Fridays. Poly-carts, heavy trash and extra bags or items will be picked up on both days. Recycling picked up on Tuesdays only. The homeowner’s maintenance fee does not pay for garbage pick-up. You must call CWA to start service. Poly-carts and recycling bins are provided free of charge to homeowners or residents. When regular pick-up falls on a holiday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, the pick-up will be made on the next regular scheduled pick up day. If your recycling day falls on a holiday it will be picked up the next week on your normal scheduled recycle day. WCA will collect for recycling, papers, plastics, aluminum and tin cans that are placed in the recycling bin. If items exceed container capacity, please place them adjacent to the bin. If you find items left in the bin, that are not recyclable, please dispose of the items in your polycart.
