A NOTE FROM THE WESTGATE RESIDENT HOA BOARD MEMBER

Pay your HOA dues in installments to avoid that end of the year lump sum: I’ve proposed to the HOA board to have VanMor Properties work with us to encourage prepayment a bit at a time; that way, residents won’t have the burden of one big payment right after Christmas, but Westgate will still have the funds to pay our bills on time (i.e. the beginning of the year). I’d like to have a payment stubs mailed to each resident that would allow them to prepay in installments, rather than just one bill sent in November to be paid in one lump sum by January 1st. Also, there’s a great way to prepay your homeowner’s dues so you don’t have to be burdened by one big payment at the end of the year; one resident I know of has been doing this for a few years. You can pay in installments online by accessing VanMor’s website, type in “Westgate,” select “Autopay” (NOT “make a payment”) and set it up with a checking account for only a $2 fee/payment; this is for prepaying next year’s dues: www.vanmor.com/vanmor/sub_category_list.asp?category=10&title=Pay+Dues Important upcoming items and events: 1. TEXAS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT PARTY - We’re having a party at the big park this year on Tuesday, October 2nd to celebrate NNO and get to know our neighbors and increase safety in our neighborhood. Neighbors looking out for neighbors! See Westgate’s Committee Corner for more information (later in this newsletter). 2. CURB PAINTING, ADDRESS NUMBERS ON CURBS - We have a desperate need for address numbers to be painted on our curbs for safety reasons (emergency vehicles finding our homes). Ever try to find your house numbers in low/no light situations - imagine if it was an emergency? Curb painting is a simple way to clearly communicate specific addresses to those that respond during low light situations. Further, the cost is very inexpensive (about $8 or so per house) and your pledge can be recorded merely by writing a check to “Westgate Crime Watch.” Upon retrieval of the minimum number of interested parties (generally 200-300), we can contact the approved vendor and move forward with a uniform approach to adding this highly effective, yet low cost feature to a sizable portion of our community’s residences. Keep your checkbook’s carbon copy and we will maintain records with the Chase bank at Barker and 529 as well. Contact Gary directly at garyc1046@gmail.com if you are interested. 3. MARKET DAY AT THE PARK (big park) & FALL GARAGE SALE (individual homes) - Saturday, October 13th. For Market Day, contact Donna Lamy at lidiacody@yahoo.com to reserve a booth for your business. 4. SECTION CAPTAIN VOLUNTEERS - one for each of the 19 sections in Westgate; these residents will be the contact person for the crime watch committee and for giving out information to their sections. They will be able to organize block captains to help. Email Gary Campbell at garyc1046@yahoo.com or Kimberly McGaughy at kbmcgaughy@gmail.com to sign up. 5. POWER WASHING AND PAINTING IN OUR PARKS - Having resident volunteers
