UxBRIDgE - gloria J. (Angell) Bielski, 77, of Mendon St. died December 5th after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Armand B. Bielski; her son Adam P. Bielski of Uxbridge; a brother Robert F. and his wife Phyllis Angell of Shrewsbury; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother John J. Angell Jr. and a nephew Robert F. Angell Jr. Born in Woonsocket, RI on November 21, 1934 she was the daughter of the late John and Olga (Poznanski) Angell and lived in Uxbridge since 1970. gloria was primarily a homemaker caring for her family, but worked as a stitcher for several Fall River textile companies. She enjoyed swimming, knitting, sewing, reading, and holiday gatherings with her family.

UxBRIDgE - Helen M. (Zygmuntowicz) Rozak, 96, a much loved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away December 8th at St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville. She is survived by her son Stanley Rozak and his wife Margaret, 2 grandchildren Laura McLean and her husband Kevin of Mattapoisett and Stephan Rozak and his wife Tracy, and also Halina Rozak of Franklin; 4 great grandchildren, Darek Robowski of Richmond, VA & several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Rozak, a sister Anelia Zygmuntowicz, and a grandson Stanley Rozak. Helen was born in Putnam, CT on May 13, 1915. She was the daughter of John and Leontina (Samborska) Zygmuntowicz and later moved to Uxbridge where she went to school graduating from Uxbridge High School in 1934. She married Stanley Rozak and had one son and was widowed in 1941. She was employed by Waucantuck Mills, a local textile manufacturer for 30 years. Following this, Helen worked in the payroll office of the former Milford Shoe Company where she remained for 25 years until her retirement. Through the years she helped out in the family owned market on Hecla St. Following Helen’s retirement she spent time with her sister where they assisted with caring for their aging mother. She was devoted to her family and cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge. Her family extends their thanks to the staff at St. Camillus for their considerate care for Helen during her latter years.

with her second husband Bror Fritz and they raised their family of two daughters here. Etta encouraged her family to continue the Swedish traditions Fritz brought with him from Sweden and enjoyed from childhood. There were many Swedish trinkets throughout the Swanson home. Etta strongly encouraged her daughters to seek further education and her only regret was that she was not able to go to college as a young woman. She was employed as a baker for the Uxbridge School System for fifteen years, retiring in 1982. After her husband Fritz died, she moved to Laconia to be near her daughter’s family and helped to care for her grandchildren. Etta was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church. She loved gardening and was a former member of the Opechee garden Club. She loved the line dancing exercise classes she took through the Laconia Recreational Department at the Community Center and the many friends she made there. She became a great youth sports supporter as her grandsons and their many friends were very involved. She was a very caring person and always baked something special for a new neighbor, assisted elderly neighbors with rides to medical appointments or grocery shopping. Etta loved to shop and got wonderful bargains for her adored granddaughters in Florida. She made several trips to Florida to visit her family there and had wonderful experiences with all that Florida has to offer. She often organized neighborhood coffee hours among her senior set. When she became unable to walk due to severe back arthritis and was a resident at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, the staff enjoyed her teasing them and her good nature. She could “dish it out and take it” as well. Her daughters and their families will miss her greatly. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Karin and Bob Salome of Laconia and Darlene and Michael Schueler, of Clearwater, FL; four grandchildren who called her MÖR MÖR (which means mother’s mother in Swedish); Jeremy Salome, Lukas Salome, Tracy Schueler Bayne and Rebecca Schueler; three great grandchildren; two nieces and four nephews. In addition to her parents, Etta was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Codwise, in 1943 and by her second husband, Bror Fritz Swanson, in 1981 and by three sisters, Mable Creighton, Helen Langley and Edith Craigie, nephews Ross Craigie and Eric Swanson, and niece Barbara Swanson.

Colonero UxBRIDgE - Vincent “Jim” Colonero of North Uxbridge, passed away peacefully on December 11th. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine (DiRienzo) Colonero; one daughter, Paula and her husband Joseph Montesi of Millville; four sons, Vincent “Jim” Colonero and his wife gloria of Southington, CT, Richard Colonero of Uxbridge, Robert Colonero of Worcester, and Kevin Colonero of Winter Haven, Florida. Jim also leaves five grandchildren; Kathryn and gregory Colonero, Matthew Colonero, Joshua Montesi and Anthony Colonero; one brother, A. gerald Colonero of Bedford; three sisters, Eleanor Brown, Dolores Colonero of Douglas and Antoinette Hebert of Millbury as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Edward and Richard Colonero. Born July 3, 1923, he was the son of Pasquale and Dora (D’Amore) Colonero and lived in Douglas and Uxbridge all his life. He graduated from Douglas High School and received training in Horticulture at University of Massachusetts. He served in the Marines during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart while fighting in the Pacific. Jim worked many years for Brewer Tree Service, Worcester and was also self-employed in the landscaping business. Jim was well known and respected in the community for his expertise in this field. He had a great love for gardening and spent some of his fondest hours in his greenhouse. He was a member of good Shepherd Parish in Linwood.

Murphy UxBRIDgE - Herbert F. Murphy, 81, of E. Hartford Ave. died December 8th at home after an illness. His wife of 36 years Florence (Dumas) Murphy died in 1996. He is survived by his 4 children, Franceen Murphy of Canaan NH, glen Murphy of Uxbridge, Angela Murphy of Uxbridge, and Christine and her husband Dennis Connors of W. Hyannisport; 3 grandchildren Patrick Murphy of Uxbridge, Brian Murphy of Fort Bragg NC, and Sharon Banks and her husband David of Uxbridge; 2 sisters Theresa Benoit of N. Uxbridge and Bernice girouard in Florida; and several nephews and nieces. He was the brother of the late John Murphy, James Murphy, and Daniel Murphy. Born in Uxbridge on March 10, 1930 he was

the son of John B. and Viola (Blair) Murphy and lived here all his life. Mr. Murphy worked as an Oil Rigger for Odeco Co. many years. He was a U.S. Navy Korean Conflict veteran. He enjoyed fishing and building model airplanes and loved to follow the Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.

Picard UxBRIDgE - Ernest O. "Ernie" Picard, 85, a longtime Uxbridge resident, died December 9th at Beaumont Nursing Home where he resided the past 2 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Irene K. (gniadek) Picard; his sister in law Maryanne and her husband Robert Auger of S. grafton; a brother in law John gniadek of Uxbridge; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and friends. Born in Whitinsville on November 5, 1926 he was the son of Ernest J. and Cecile (Lariviere) Picard and lived in Uxbridge most of his life. Mr. Picard served as the Town of Uxbridge Veteran's Agent for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He was named Veteran's Agent of the Year in 1990, one of the highest honors given to a veteran's agent. Previously he owned and operated a small insurance agency. He was a graduate of Uxbridge High School, Class of 1945 where he was a standout athlete in football and basketball. Ernie was inducted into the Uxbridge High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific aboard the USS Antietam Aircraft carrier. He was a member of VFW Post 1385 and the Charles A. Rice American Legion. He was an Uxbridge Council Knight of Columbus as well as a Unibank Corporator. Ernie loved skiing with his friends, especially at Sugarloaf Mountain. His family would like to thank the staff at Beaumont Nursing Home as well as Salmon Family Hospice for their loving care and support. He was a member of St. Mary's Church.

Anderson UxBRIDgE - Dorothy V. (Carlberg) Anderson, 93, of Uxbridge, died December 13th, at the St. Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, passing into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Warren D. Anderson, and a sister, Ruth L. (Carlberg) Nelson, she leaves her five children, Robert D. Anderson of Huntsville, AL, Burton L. Anderson of Citrus Heights, CA,

Kenneth R. Anderson of Keller, Tx, Janet R. (Anderson) Patnode of Uxbridge, and David W. Anderson of Crawfordville, FL, along with 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Born on September 10, 1918, she was the daughter of the late August and Alma C. (Olsson) Carlberg, immigrants from Sweden living in North Easton, MA. She graduated with honors from Oliver Ames High School in 1935. Married in 1938, Dorothy and Warren lived at various times in North Easton, Franklin, Bellingham, and Uxbridge. Dorothy worked as a homemaker, and also for many years as lead cook at the Pond Home retirement facility in Wrentham. She enjoyed reading, praying, corresponding with friends and family, playing the piano, and being involved with church activities. She was a member of Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church, and trusted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as her only hope for forgiveness and everlasting life.

Mulligan UxBRIDgE - Vivian A. (Boudreau) Mulligan, 54, of Homeward Ave. died December 18th at home after an illness. She is survived by her husband of 27 years Joseph F. Mulligan; her 3 children Erin K. Mulligan, Kevin J. Mulligan and Paul F. Mulligan all of Uxbridge; her father Leonard J. Boudreau of Northborough; a brother Leonard Boudreau and his wife Elizabeth of Arlington, MA; a sister Theresa Foster and her husband Kenneth of Northborough; her 4 godchildren which she held dear, John Sullivan, Kaitlyn Begley, Elizabeth Boudreau, and Olivia Benoit; and several nephews and nieces. Born in N. Cambridge, MA on August 14, 1957 she was daughter of the late Flora Mae (Vincent) Boudreau and lived in Uxbridge 14 years. Vivian was primarily a homemaker, caring for her family over the years. She also worked at the customer service desk at Hannaford Supermarket the past 7 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially the relatives from Nova Scotia. It was her great joy.
