Dear Prospective Families,
King’s Ridge Christian School is a very special place with several distinctions that set us apart.
First, we are committed to intellectual activity and academic rigor. We aim to become the number one choice for a Christ-centered, academically excellent college-preparatory school for students in grades Pre-K – 12.
Second, we are passionate about bringing every student into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ while equipping them to do with excellence all that God has called them to do. Since our founding in 2001, our enduring mission has been to be a Christian community providing a college preparatory education equipping students to know, to serve, and to believe in Christ.
Third, we prepare young men and women not just for college but for life. Our goal is to educate, not indoctrinate. Students have the freedom and encouragement to pursue knowledge and their unique gifts and calling to the fullest extent possible.
As you walk through our halls today, I hope you’ll gain a better sense of the King’s Ridge Christian School that I’ve come to know: a place where learning is contagious, the faculty is engaging, faith is deepened, and exciting things are happening.
We are honored to be considered in your search for the best educational setting for your child. Thank you for taking the time to visit our campus.
Sincerely,
Shuntel Beach Chief Advancement Officer
King’s Ridge Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school. Therefore, as one of its first priorities, the School’s Board of Trustees created and adopted a Statement of Faith.
King’s Ridge Christian School is a Christian community providing a college preparatory education equipping students to know, to serve, and to believe.
GOD
We believe in the One Sovereign and loving God who exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God as the Creator and Ruler of all things in heaven and earth.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is both fully God and fully man and was without sin. He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, resurrected from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, convicting us of our sin and need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit comforts, teaches, and empowers us to live in righteousness.
We believe, teach, and accept the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source of our proclamation, faith, and life.
SALVATION
We believe that salvation comes by grace, through faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is a gift paid for by the blood of Christ.
MANKIND
We believe that man was created in the image of God. We are separated from God by sin. We receive salvation through Jesus Christ and are renewed by the Holy Spirit. Our purpose is to glorify God in all that we do, to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love each other as God has loved us.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

As a college preparatory school, King’s Ridge Christian School provides students with rigorous academic preparation combined with social, spiritual, and physical fulfillment, which are all necessary for college and life beyond. Research supports this call for students to live a balanced life.
According to the Johns Hopkins Student Assistance Program, “Students often prioritize academics at the expense of personal factors, including relationships and exercise. This can lead to a decline in academic performance, as general health and well-being are critical to optimal academic functioning.”
Perhaps most surprising is that college admissions departments tell counselors that a High School resume filled only with academic accolades is not what they seek in applicants.
As such, the High School counseling department at KRCS focuses on developing the whole student, one who successfully balances academics, extra-curricular interests, the arts, a spiritual relationship with Christ, and athletic pursuits.
High School is a transformative time for young adults; our counselors work as partners during this transition.
• At KRCS, freshmen receive personalized guidance for course selection, develop essential tools for time management, communication, and life skills, and identify potential post-secondary interests.
• Sophomores lean into KRCS and their community at large while continuing to strengthen the groundwork laid during their freshman year.
• Juniors focus on self-reflection, understanding that the road ahead calls for a time of self-advocacy. This year is built around long-term goals. Students are tasked with determining wants such as collegiate athletics, career aspirations, service academy interests, and any untapped High School opportunities they want to explore during their senior year.
• Seniors dive head-first into the college application process, receiving guidance, assistance, support, and celebration to achieve these goals confidently in God’s ultimate plan.
To do this, KRCS counselors work with students in four key areas, thus ensuring that students attain their post-secondary goals. These four areas are:
• Guiding academic choices,
• Supporting academic achievement,
• Developing social and emotional well-being and
• Initiating, supporting, and managing college planning and applications.
Through one-on-one meetings, large and small group presentations, family conferences, and daily informal settings, our counselors seek to know each of the students as individuals through their unique talents, aspirations, struggles, and strengths. They act as guides, encouraging students to build the resiliency, self-confidence, and independence crucial for success in college and beyond.

You’re shaping me Into Your image
You’re turning me Into Your masterpiece Suddenly
There is a clearing And all I see Is beauty
So let my whole life be A canvas for Your purposes
A picture of Your promises
Let my whole life be
A record of Your faithfulness
A story of Your perfect love for me
How can it be
I’m Your reflection
In spite of these Flaws and impurities
Still you see
Only perfection
It’s all Jesus
It’s all beauty
Let my whole life be A canvas for Your purposes
A picture of Your promises
Let my whole life be
A record of Your faithfulness
A story of Your perfect love for me
Give us open hands and open hearts for Whatever You’re doing, however You’re moving

What is the King’s Ridge Story?
We were honored to have KRCS founder and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz as the guest speaker at our all-staff meeting in Spring 2022. Below is an excerpt from his speech.
Start of the Journey
I came to Atlanta, famously, in the trade. I have a tremendous family: a brother and a sister, and my mom and dad, who raised a very moral and structured family. We had God, family, school, and sports.
But I got to Atlanta in the trade and was not a Christian. I had a very skewed version of what being a Christian was because, to me, a Christian lived their life a certain way, turned it over to God, and then told me how to live my life.
In 1995, I was sitting with my chaplain, Walt Wiley. I asked him this simple question: “What prevents me from living my life the way I want to live it, let’s say, until the age of 40, and then I’ll turn it over to Christ?” I had prayed the prayer a thousand times, but I didn’t understand what that relationship meant between Christ and me.
The answer was a gentle reply: “Nothing prevents you from that, except you might not get to your target date.” I’m a risk-taker on the mound and a risk-taker on the golf course. I no longer want to be a risk-taker and play that game of what if. I’ll turn my life over to Christ. That simple answer did it for me.
When I was asked to serve on another school board, I said yes, but I didn’t think I would have time to attend the board meetings. My good and longtime friend Jeff Foxworthy was on this board and asked me to join him on it.
And then I had to undergo Tommy John surgery, and I’m out of baseball all year for rehabilitation. And I attend every board meeting. I went from having no board meetings to attending every board meeting, and now I’m engaged in this process as I would be engaged if it were Game 7 of the World Series. Every single day, I thought about my role and my opportunity.
I can tell you the story of King’s Ridge was born then, and I had no idea that would be the case because that’s not the board I was on.
It goes in such a bad way that we all get fired. I’m fast-tracking through some of this because it would take way too long. Well, yours truly decides that his competitive spirit will take over and says, “I’ll show you.” I remember saying to Jeff Foxworthy days later, “We can do this. I’m going to start a school. We went through the whole process, and we know what we need to do, so I’m going to start a school; let’s do this.”
Faith in Uncertainty
I set up an initial parent meeting, and I think about 200 people showed up. I couldn’t believe what I was watching unfold. Fast forward past that meeting. Some of those people from the other school carried over with me and created a board called ACE, Advancement of Christian Education. Without that board, this wouldn’t have been possible. Many people have poured their hearts and souls into starting a school.
Legacy
We created the school in less-than-ideal circumstances. If it weren’t for three good friends, Joe Jilson, Mike Nixon, and Tripp Rackley, who helped with the financial burden, this school was not supposed to be here. There was never any intention that this school was supposed to be here.
My name got us in the door. I understood that, but I never thought it wasn’t going to get us out of the door, as in, ‘You’re not ready.’ Meeting after meeting, relationship after relationship, so many people had a hand in this school.
This school, which started in a former grocery store, will be built in God’s time and has God’s hand over it.
I wish you the very best. I pray for you, and I will continue to pray for you as the school grows. I’m honored, honestly, to be a small part of that.
Thank you.
May 2000
September 4, 2001
King’s Ridge Christian School (KRCS) was founded by the Advancement for Christian Education (ACE) to meet Atlanta’s growing demand for college preparatory schools grounded in Christian faith.
KRCS welcomed its first 196 students (grades K–8) on September 4, 2001, in a 53,000-square-foot renovated grocery store in downtown Alpharetta, adjacent to Wills Park. The temporary location had 17 classrooms, science and media labs, and art rooms.
October 2005
KRCS acquired land for the school campus on Bethany Bend after it was approved for zoning.
KRCS opened its current 92-acre campus on Bethany Bend in August 2007 with a 30% increase in enrollment. Phase One included a lighted athletic field and a 65,000-square-foot Barbara Adler Academic Center (BAAC). All grades were in the BAAC for one year –Lower School students on the first floor and Middle and High School students upstairs.
The Upper/Middle Academic Center (UMAC), a modularly constructed classroom building, was created in the fall of 2008. The UMAC was partly given that name due to its initial “U” shape. The former “UMAC” is now our Middle School building. A dedication ceremony was held in October 2008 to open a 37,000-square-foot Student Center, providing a central location for students to gather for lunch, assemblies, and athletic and fine arts events.
KRCS celebrated its milestone 10th anniversary in 2011 with a series of events, including the announcement of a $10 million capital campaign to build the first phase of the High School. The opening and dedication of the 45,162 square-foot High School building and the Kendrick Center for Life Impact took place in August 2013.
KRCS launched its “Making Room for HIStory” Capital Campaign to raise funds for campus expansion, including phase two of the High School building. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in October 2018, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for completing the new wing was held in December 2019.
KRCS announced a new full-size regulation soccer field would be built on the land south of the KRCS entrance/ exit on Cogburn Road.
Fall 2020
Fall 2021
The Fine Arts Academy opened in the renovated modular unit classrooms, initially used as temporary classrooms during the construction of the High School building.
The BE BOLD Capital Campaign was launched to raise $9.6 million to meet increased enrollment and the dramatically changing needs of KRCS. The campaign scope included:
• The purchase of 22 acres of contiguous property, which increased our total acreage to 92 acres.
• Transforming the Roadrunner baseball field on Cogburn Road into our softball field.
• Finishing the third floor of the High School, and
• Funding for a baseball field and the construction of a cross country trail.
2023
Spring 2024
KRCS announced the successful completion of its twoyear BE BOLD Capital Campaign. During the 2023 summer, KRCS received a generous gift that allowed it to claim a foundation grant of $750,000, finishing the fundraising for the capital campaign.
Campus growth included the completion of a crosscountry trail, the renovation of a varsity softball and Middle School baseball field, and the groundbreaking of a new state-of-the-art baseball facility.
During
During the school year, there are many opportunities for parents to get involved in the life of the school. Groups have been created to join parents and families with shared interests to support each other and King’s Ridge Christian School. Consider becoming a member of these organizations:
KRCS PARENT CLUB
Every parent of a child who attends King’s Ridge Christian School is a Parent Club member. There is no membership fee to join. At KRCS, the Parent Club is committed to fostering a sense of belonging by supporting our community and organizing fun activities and events throughout the school year.
Tiger Nation is a volunteer organization of KRCS parents comprised of active board members and athletic/fine arts association members. Tiger Nation builds community engagement experiences and provides opportunities for participants to receive special benefits through various athletic and fine arts membership levels.
KRCS WOMEN’S GROUP
The group meets in person every two weeks during the school year to discuss the latest book study and topics around motherhood, faith, and life. This group is uniquely built to inspire and unite all women in the KRCS community.
KRCS MEN’S GROUP
The group meets in person every two weeks during the school year to discuss various topics around faith and life. The goal is to give men in the KRCS community an opportunity to get to know one another, explore the Bible together, and encourage one another as we seek to follow Jesus together.
The group gathers on campus once a month to pray for God’s continuous favor on King’s Ridge Christian School and for a hedge of protection over our school, students, faculty, and staff.
Excerpt from KRCS Graduate John Lay’s Speech at Baccalaureate
I think I speak for all of us when I say we are both excited and a little nervous about going to college. Proverbs 19:21 states, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
While reflecting on this, I remembered a conversation with Mr. Boaz during my secondperiod AP Psychology class this year. On this particular day, I walked in and told him I hadn’t studied for the test that I was about to take. I said I either knew the material or I didn’t. He responded with something along the lines of, “Well, you must be suffering from learned helplessness.”
I hadn’t heard of this term before, so I asked him what it meant. He just stared at me. It turns out that was a question on the test. Now I understand that learned helplessness is an individual’s wrongly perceived belief that external events control their lives and that they have no control over what happens to them. So, they give up.
In a sense, learned helplessness is not entirely incorrect. We cannot always control external events – such as natural disasters, deaths, or the actions of others. However, we can always control our reactions.
The faculty at King’s Ridge Christian School have guided us in this, making it their personal mission to teach us how to react with reason, judge fairly, and think critically. As we step into the future, we can control our character, and by following God’s guidance, we can become the people we are meant to be.
