King's House School | Co-Curricular Activities and Wraparound Care | Autumn Term 2024
AUTUMN TERM 2024
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND WRAPAROUND CARE
Co-curricular activities are vital to the broad and balanced education we offer at King’s House School, and they complement the central work done in the classroom. Music, sport and drama all play an integral part in the pupils’ lives, both within the curriculum and beyond.
Co-curricular activities change on a termly basis, and we welcome feedback to ensure that we are providing a well-rounded programme.
This booklet has been created to provide parents with further information about clubs that need to be booked, and to help you plan in advance.

CO-CURRICULAR CLUBS
FAQS
Bookings
How do I register for activities?
All co-curricular clubs are booked through SOCS.
Do I need to register with SOCS and external providers?
Yes. SOCS should be used to register for clubs, and providers use it as the master register. You must have a place on SOCS to attend a club.
SOCS provides information on registration and payment with external clubs - you may also be required to register and pay directly with a club. Please check SOCS carefully for details.
Do you operate waitlists?
We don’t usually operate waitlists, clubs are booked on a first come first served basis.
Can I join or leave a club half way through the term?
Yes, if there is availability you can join a club after the club has started. Please contact the office so that your final bill can be adjusted.
Parents cannot withdraw their child from a club mid-way through the term. Please contact Nick Clark in the first week of term if you would like to change any clubs bookings.
Parents/carers can make changes to bookings directly on SOCS until the bookings window closes.
Fees
How are clubs paid for?
The fee is added to your termly bill in arrears for school organised clubs. For external run clubs, you must register and pay the external provider directly, details of which are on SOCS.
Why do some clubs have a fee whilst others are free of charge?
Clubs are delivered by a combination of school staff and external providers. Most after school clubs now have a cost, aimed at improving the quality, consistency and variety of clubs. Morning music and lunchtime clubs continue free of charge.

WRAPAROUND
CARE
As well as a varied co-curricular programme, King’s House offers extensive wraparound care provision, and we are delighted that AprèsSchool will be managing our After-School Care (ASC) programme from September 2024. They are a Ofsted-registered wraparound care provider, and we are looking forward to working with them to provide a high-quality programme for our pupils.
Nursery Early Start runs from 8.00 - 8.40am, Junior Department Early Birds runs from 8.008.30am, and pupils in the SD are supervised in the playground from 8am.
ASC runs for Squirrels/Rabbits – Year 3 until 6.00pm in the Junior Department, and Homework Club in the Senior Department until 5pm. After Homework Club finishes at 5pm, these pupils can join after-school care in the
Junior Department and will be walked down by a member of staff.
A sibling discount of 10% is available when both children attend ASC. Children in Year 4, who are waiting for older siblings to finish, may stay supervised onsite until 4.00pm free of charge.
Pupils in Reception - Year 3 travelling home via the school bus are also supervised separately until the bus leaves at 4.10pm.

More detailed FAQs about ASC changes will be sent to parents, however the information below summarises some key points.
How do I make a booking?
Bookings for Early Birds and SD Homework Club are made through SOCS. ASC bookings are made via Après-School’s website: www.apresschool.co.uk
I have made a booking for my child but we don’t use the booking, will I still be charged?
For children attending KHS provided wraparound care, you will only be charged if your child attends. However, as much as possible please book or cancel sessions via SOCS as this helps our planning and staffing.
For ASC, you will be charged for all sessions that are booked. Après-School requires at least 24 hour notice when cancelling sessions. Credit for cancellations will be applied to your account. To cancel a booking, simply log in to your account, go to the “Bookings” menu, and select the specific booking you wish to cancel. Then, click on “Amend Dates” and fill out the form, ensuring you select the correct dates, session, and child. However, sessions can be booked up to the very last minute before a session begins.
How are fees paid?
Early Birds and SD Homework Club fees are added onto your termly bill. ASC bookings can be paid monthly or termly when booking sessions via Après-School’s website. As an
Ofsted-registered provider, Après-School will be able to accept Childcare Vouchers and participate in the Tax-Free Childcare scheme.
A one time registration fee of £10 applies, and this covers admin costs associated with set up. Please register to avoid paying higher session costs.
Where do I collect my child from?
ASC pick up is from the blue collection door in the Junior Department, and parents & carers should call the collection number provided.
Pupils attending Homework Club are collected from the Senior Department by phoning 020 8939 2510.

SOCS
King’s House use SOCS (School Online Communication System) to manage fixtures, clubs, KHS provided wraparound care, and the school calendar.
The system is split into three separate ‘modules’, which sync together to give parents and the school a comprehensive overview of what the school and individual pupil’s term will look like.
• Sport
• Co-Curricular
• Calendar
The sports portal is a dedicated site which shows all fixtures, team sheets and any other relevant information for sports fixtures. This is managed by the PE department.
The co-curricular module enables parents to book clubs and wraparound care and staff to check which activities pupils are booked into, and to take registers for class management and billing.
The calendar displays information for all school events, as well as fixtures, co-curricular clubs and wraparound care for parents.
SOCS access and support
SOCS can be accessed via the below website link or added to your mobile/tablet as an app: socscms.com/login/977 or alternatively by searching socscms.com and then ‘King’s House School’.
