Let the games begin for Killarney Athletic tournament EURO 2016 has been keeping soccer fans entertained this month but in Killarney excitement is reaching fever pitch in advance of Killarney Athletic AFC’s annual seven-a-side tournament. The event, sponsored by Killarney Credit Union, will commence next Monday, June 27. The draw took place in Scott’s Bar on Sunday and below are the details of the competition fixtures and groups. KILLARNEY ATHLETIC SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT THE Killarney Athletic Seven-A-Side tournament is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The event commences this Monday, June 27, at the Killarney Athletic Grounds, Woodlawn, and its main sponsor is Killarney Credit Union. Application forms for underage teams are available from the Beech Road and Park Road branches of Killarney Credit Union and at www.killarneyathletic.com. The entry fee for under 10/12 is €75 and the competition takes place on July 15 and 16. The entry fee for under 14/16 is €100 and the closing date for the under 14/16 is this Friday, June 24. The closing date for entry to the Under 10/12 is Thursday, July 7. “Killarney Credit Union is proud to be the main sponsor of this event, especially in light of its 40th year anniversary, we would like to wish the organisers and all participants the best of luck in this year’s soccer tournament,” stated Pat Delaney, chairman of Killarney Credit Union. There will be a range of accolades as part of the event, the Premier and Reserve Cups, the Kieran Cahillane Senior Player of the Tournament Award will be on offer for the outstanding player on view, while The Johnny Heffernan Underage Player of the Tournament Award will also be up for grabs.
