Mboji: Moja ya njia bora za kutunza udongo ni kutumia mbolea za asili kama mboji. Mboji inatengenezwa kwa kutumia taka zinazooza kama mabaki ya vyakula, mbolea ya mifugo na nyasi. Taka hizi hukusanywa sehemu moja iii vijidudu viweze kuozesha. Mboji ni muhimu kwa ajill ya kuongeza rutuba na kuboresha udongo kwa ajili ya mimea.

Kutengeneza Mboji 1. Kusanya majani makavu na mabichi, mbolea ya mifugo, majivu, mawe na vipande vya kuni. 2. Satisha eneo kwaajili ya kutengenezea mboji . 3. Panga mawe iii kuhakikisha kuna nafasi za hewa kwa ajili ya vijidudu. 4. Weka nyasi kavu, vijiti na kuni ndogo kwa ajili ya kuongeza uimara. 5. Weka nyasi mbichi juu kwa ajili ya kuongeza naitrojeni kwenye mboji. Hizi zitaliwa na vijidudu. 6. Ongeza mbolea ya mifugo kwa juu. Harufu ya mbolea hii huvutia vijidudu na pia mbolea hii ni chakula kwa ajili ya vijidudu. 7. Weka nyasi kavu iii vijidudu wapate chakula na waweze kuzalisha kaboni kwa ajili ya mboji nzuri. 8. Weka majivu iii kuongeza kasi ya kutengeneza mboji. 9. Rudia hatua hizi mpaka rundo liwe kubwa.

Namna ya kutunza Mboji 1. Mwagilia maji kwenye mboji kila siku; tumia angalau ndoo moja ya maji asubuhi na jioni kwa muda wa wiki mbili iii vijidudu viweze kushamiri. 2. Geuza mboji na endelea kumwagilia kwa wiki mbili kabla haijawa tayari. 3. Ingiza timbo katikati ya mboji kwa ajill ya kujua kama ipo tayari. Sasa unaweza kutumia mboji yako yenye rutuba! Mbolea nzuri: huwa na vijidudu wanaokula na kuzaliana kwa kasi na hii huzalisha joto linaloua viumbe vyenye madhara. Joto hili pia linatengeneza mboji kwa kasi zaidi.


How Do We Com 1. Gather dr grass, ieces of liarde 2. Clear the groun triangular or squa 3. Arrange pieces of to make sure the heap has air underneath so microorganisms can thrive. 4. Place a layer of course grasses with sticks and pieces of wood for stability of the heap. 5. Put green grasses on top to provide nitrogen to the compost materials. These green grasses will be eaten by the microorganisms as part of compost formation. 6. A thin layer of animal manure is placed on top with smell and prime food materials for microorganisms. 71. Place a layer of dry grasses on top to provide compost materials with the dry food allowing microorganisms to produce carbon for healthy compost. 8. Ashes are placed to increase composting speed. 9. This process is done over and over until the heap gets to its highest peak.

Caring for Your Compost: 1. Water the heap daily; at least a bucket of water in the mornings and evenings consecutively for two weeks for microorganisms to thrive. 2. Turn materials over for another two weeks before the compost is ready. 3. Place a tester stick at the top middle to measure the progress of decomposition inside the heap. Now you can apply the nutrient rich compost on the soil! In good compost: microorganisms eat and reproduce quickly producing heat that kills harmful organisms. Heat also speeds up the decomposition of materials to make compost faster.

A fareer in Health ... What Does it Take? When I was 6 years old, my mother asked me "Dinnah, who do you want to be when you grow up?" As young as I was, I answered the first thing that came into my mind, "Mama, I want to be a DOCTOR!" From then on, I have never stopped wanting to be a doctor. I now study medicine at Hubert Kairuki Memorial University. It all started as a dream but soon it will become a reality. I will be called Dr. Dinnah!

When you study medicine or science, you have so many options. Some of us want to be DOCTORS.There are so many kinds of doctors; you could become a physician, a pediatrician, a cardiologist, a neurologist, or a surgeon and so many more. You could also become something else like a pharmacist, a nurse, or veterinarian. Th many options to choose from. When I was younger, I often wondered, if I want to be a doctor?' Have you ever Truth is, there is no single formula; but I the following; TIME MANAGEMENT

ENJOY - what you want to study and have fun as you do it. Don't let anybody discourage you. Never let your dream

go in vain. Push harder and harder until you see yourself succeed.

In a special way I praise and thank my parents, family & friends for never giving up on me and never failing to push me whenever it felt like my dream wouldn't come true. Whatever your dream is, I know you will work very hard to achieve it. Someday, maybe you will be a DOCTOR too.

The Children's Agenda (CA) is organizations (CSOs) who are These civil society organizations implementation of a national Tanzania.

a union of more than 30 civil society committed supporters of child rights. work together on the development and advocacy strategy for child rights in

CA is chaired by the Children's Development Department of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children (MCDGC) with the Deputy Chair occupied by an elected member from civil society and UNICEFserves as the Secretariat. CA aims to influence social and economic change in Tanzania by encouraging increased and more effective policies and strategies to transform the lives of children and their families. More specifically its objective is to increase resources and investments for all children in Tanzania. CA partners share their strengths, experiences and available resources in order to meet the targets set by the Children's Agenda Strategy 2012-2015. After talking to children, the government, CSOsand other development partners, the CA decided to focus on ten key areas, known as the Top Ten Investments:

The participation of children as advocates for their own rights is important to the CA. Children participate through the Junior Council of the United Republic ofTanzania (JCURTor Baraza la Watoto) which has elected representatives from different parts of the country has been a core member of the Children's Agenda from its beginning.

We talked to a few members of the Junior Council from Tandika about what message they wanted to tell incoming leaders. Read the next page to see what some of them had to say about health. I would like to tell them about poor hospital infrastructure and lack of medicines for patients, especially children. I would like better hospitals and for medicines to be available for children. Watoto wengi hawaviamini vyakula vya mashuleni maana unakuta mazingira ya wauza vitu ni machafu na hawana sehemu maalumu ya kuuzia vitu. Hapohapo tunaweza kuumwa matumbo na kipindupindu. Many children do not trust the food at school because it is sold in a dirty environment and there is no special place for selling food. We can get cholera and stomach aches from that. If children are given nutritious food they can grow mentally and physically. I also think leaders should visit schools to inspect those who sell food. Medical Conditions & Allergies Does your child have asthma, diabetes or anaemia? Information on any diseases or conditions your child has is very useful in helping doctors make decisions especially in an emergency. It is also useful to have information on the family's medical history especially if there is a history of medical problems. This information will help doctors know what tests they may need to perform and make quick decisions. Is your child allergic to any medication? Put that information on the sheet as well. Some children are allergic to certain medicines because of their ingredients. Make sure you take note if your child has a reaction to any medication to avoid future use.

Your Child's Safety As a parent, your child's health and safety is your number one priority. Every day, you make sure that your child eats well, gets enough rest, drinks enough water and has some playtime. And hopefully, you take your little one for regular health checkups. Most of our children love playing, and discovering new things, usually at the expense of their health. A scratch or two is normal and cleaning that up can be done without even thinking about it. And for the very naughty and adventurous ones, there will probably be a broken bone or two as well before they grow up. But what happens in a serious health emergency? Are you well prepared to make sure your child gets treated as quickly and safely as possible even if you are not nearby? It is not always easy to remember important information in emergencies so it is best if you have your child's important health information clearly written down, just in case.What information can you put down in this information sheet? Here are a few suggestions.

Allergies could also cause swelling, serious itching, and breathing difficulties. Having a list of everything your child is allergic to can help doctors or caretakers know what is causing the irritating reaction in your child.

Is Your Child Currently on Any Medication? This information should be added to the list along with the dosage, length of time medication is to be taken and what it is for. This will help doctors to know what medicine to give your child so that it does not react with the medicine that s/he is already taking. You could also include any surgeries that your child has (recently) had to this list.

Other Information It is also advised to have an up-to-date record of your child's immunization status. You can easily get this information from your doctor if you don't already have records. Don't forget to put information on your child's age, weight and blood group. A doctor can advise you on other important information that you should include. If your child is not too young, you could create this health sheet together so that s/he is aware of this important information. And while you are at it, why not create a sheet for yourself as well? Your child may need to help you one day.

When was the last time you looked in the mirror and smiled a wide, huge smile'? What do your teeth look like'? Are they clean'? Our teeth are very important because we need them to eat, to smile and to talk. That is why we must take very good care of them. Everyday we eat and drink different things. Particles from all these things remain on our teeth. If we do not brush our teeth, germs grow and form plaque. Plaque reacts with the food and drink that we eat to make acid which causes holes called cavities. If these holes grow deeper they can cause a lot of pain.

Plaque is a sticky layer that forms on the teeth and gums. Did you know'? Back teeth are the ones that usually decay. Because of their shape, they collect more particles and are harder to clean properly. So what must we do? The best way to prevent plaque is to brush our teeth properly. Try to brush your teeth after every meal or at least twice a day - in the morning and before going to bed. Brush all of your teeth for at least 2 to 3 minutes every time. It is best to use a toothbrush with soft bristles that will not hurt your gums and change your toothbrush every 3 months. Use a toothbrush with a small head because it can reach all areas of the mouth, even the back teeth that are hard to reach. Taking good care of our mouths also helps to prevent bad breaths. Bad breath is mostly caused by the bacteria that break down food particles in our mouths. Taking good care of our mouths' cleanliness is usually enough to prevent bad breath. Don't forget to brush the back of your tongue, where it is harder to reach. Brushing your tongue helps to keep your breath fresh! If you brush every night, your mouth will not smell so bad in the morning. Remember: The most important way of taking care of our teeth is to watch what we eat &. drink. Weshould avoid sugary drinks and snacks as they can quickly destroy the teeth's enamel. Until next time, let's take care of our teeth so that we can have happy smiles!
