President’s Welcome Speech Our association does not heed race, religion, or nationality. It only heeds innocence and sees a glimpse of hope in the smile of a child battling with cancer. They have the right to live… which is why we are here…why the volunteers are here…why you are here…and why we are gathered today to turn their life into a spring that brims with hope. In the year 2011, we were able to treat around 100 kids suffering from cancer with the cost reaching USD 50,000 for the treatment of each child. As you can see, the cost is very high; however, we should not stand still in the face of this malignant disease. On the contrary, we should get moving and march head-on to overcome any obstacle that may stand in the way of our children’s healing process. Each time we contribute to their healing, we contribute to molding the future generation of our country Lebanon. Today, we are honored and proud of every individual who is contributing to our association’s continuity, each according to his/her abilities. Without you, the dream that was born in 2005 would not have become a reality. Ladies and gentlemen, Here are our kids who are on the path to healing and they are playing and laughing…They sleep every night with the anticipation of a long-awaited tomorrow…where there is learning and a bright future…a tomorrow where all their dreams will come true. كلمة رئيس الجمعية ً جنسية ،هي أيها األصدقاء ،إن جمعيتنا ال تعرف عرقًا وال دينًا وال فقط تعرف البراءة وترى وميض األمل في ابتسامة أطفالنا الذين يعانون من مسيرة صعبة وشاقة مع مرض السرطان .فهم الحياة، والحياة من حقهم ،وألجل ذلك نحن هنا ،المتطوعون هنا ،أنتم هنا، كلنا هنا لنجعل حياتهم ربيعًا ينضب باألمل. في العام ،2011قمنا بمعالجة حوالي 100طفل مريض بالسرطان ،وقد وصلت كلفة العالج إلى حوالي 50,000دوالر أميركي للطفل الواحد .إن الكلفة كما ترون باهظة جدًا ،لكن أمام أمل الحياة لن نقف مكتوفي األيدي ،بل سنتحرك وننطلق قدمًا في سبيل االنتصار على كل عائق يحول دون شفاء أوالدنا .فكلما ساهمنا في شفائهم، ساهمنا في بناء جيل المستقبل ،جيل وطننا الحبيب لبنان. ونحن اليوم ،نعتز ونفتخر بكل من يساهم في استمرارية جمعيتناٌ ، كل بحسب طاقاته وإمكانياته ،فلوالكم لما صار حلمنا الذي وضعنا أساساته في العام 2005 حقيقة. سيداتي وسادتي، ها هم أطفالنا الذين ماثلوا الشفاء يلعبون ويضحكون ،ها هم ينامون منتظرين الغد ،غد الدراسة ،غد المستقبل ،الغد الذي لطالما حلموا به. وها هم أطفالنا المرضى ينتظرون دعمكم .ساندونا لنزرع ابتسامتهم ،لننقذ ال وهم آخرًا ،األطفال أو ً غدهم ،فهم أو ً ال! شكرًا، المحامي بول إميل نون رئيس جمعية األطفال أو ً ال

Her caring commitment, amiable personality, and can-do attitude were exemplary throughout the years. Thanks to her dedication, the children of Kids First have renewed hope for the future. Such effort can’t go unnoticed and is worthy of the highest praise.
مبادرات السيدة ليلى الصلح حماده منذ تأسيس جمعية األطفال أو ً ال Kids Firstفي العام ،2005وتقوم مؤسسة الوليد ً ممثلة بنائب الرئيس الوزيرة ليلى الصلح حمادة بتقديم دعم بن طالل اإلنسانية سنوي كبير وأساسي لكافة األطفال المرضى بالسرطان. بفضل هذه المؤسسة ،جمعيتنا ما زالت مستمرة! أما السيدة ليلى الصلح حماده ،فهي دومًا حاضرة ،ألجلنا وألجلهم حاضرة، بأمومتها حاضرة وبمسؤوليتها حاضرة .وهي تزرع الفرحة في نفوس أوالدنا في “دعاء” فالدعاء ال جميع المناسبات .إذا قلنا “شكرًا” فالشكر ال يكفي ،وإذا طلبنا ً بمعروفها! يكفي ،فاهلل وحده أَعلم منا ِ

Kids First Overview Established in 2005, Kids First Association is the brainchild of Mrs. Maya Litcher, the spouse of H.E Ambassador of Switzerland Thomas Litcher, following her encounter with Dr. Peter Noun, A Specialist in Children’s Hematology and Oncology and Head of the Lebanese Association for Hematology and Blood Transfer in Lebanon, as well the Head of the Pediatrics Unit in the Lebanese Geitawi Hospital. The Association was registered according to decision number 437/ED on July 14, 2006, published in the official gazette number 45 on September 21, 2006. The main mission of Kids First Association is to help children suffering from cancer or blood disorders by providing them with the necessary medical assistance and covering the high cost of their medications, especially that the recovery from cancer diseases for children aged below 18 has exceeded 75%. Kids First Association has joined the International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organizations (ICCCPO) four years ago, and is thus represented in a number of international seminars and campaigns to raise awareness and disseminate information about the early symptoms and warning signs of children’s cancer. In addition, Kids First Association cooperates with a large number of associations specialized in children’s cancer and that provide care to sick children in a myriad of ways. Some of these associations include Tamanna, which makes sick children’s wishes come true; Omnya, which turns children’s dreams into reality; Toufoula, which transforms sick children’s rooms into dream ones, and MySchoolPulse, which ensures that children suffering from cancer receive the proper education. The efforts exerted by the Association since it was founded are simply an endeavor to safeguard children from a long and grueling battle with disease and provide them with an opportunity to continue their lives and realize their dreams and ambitions.
نبذة عن الجمعية تأسست جمعية األطفال أو ً ال Kids Firstعام 2005بفضل مجهود فردي بذلته السيدة مايا ليتشر زوجة السفير السويسري توماس ليتشر ،إثر لقاء جمعها بالطبيب بيتر نون ،اختصاصي في أمراض الدم واألورام عند األطفال ورئيس الجمعية اللبنانية ألمراض الدم ونقل الدم في لبنان ورئيس قسم األطفال في المستشفى اللبناني الجعيتاوي .وقد استحصلت الجمعية على علم وخبر برقم /437أد بتاريخ 14أيلول 2006والمنشور بالجريدة الرسمية عدد 45 تاريخ 21أيلول .2006 تتمثل مهمة جمعية األطفال أو ً ال Kids Firstفي مساعدة األطفال المصابين بأمراض سرطانية وبأمراض الدم لتوفير الرعاية الطبية الكافية لهم ولتأمين كلفة األدوية الباهظة الثمن ،خصوصًا وأن نسبة الشفاء لدى األطفال ما دون الـ 18سنة تتخطى الـ .%75 تندرج جمعية األطفال أو ً ال Kids Firstفي االتحاد العالمي لمنظمات عائالت األطفال المصابين بالسرطان ( )ICCCPOمنذ أربع سنوات ،وهي تحظى بتمثيل في عدد من المؤتمرات العالمية والحمالت المنظمة لنشر الوعي الصحي والتثقيف في التعرف إلى األعراض المبكرة والعالمات التحذيرية لسرطانات األطفال. إلى جانب ذلك ،تتعاون جمعية األطفال أو ً ال Kids Firstمع عدد كبير من الجمعيات المختصة بأمراض السرطان لدى األطفال والتي تهتم بالطفل المريض بنواحٍ شتى، نذكر منها :جمعية تمنى لتحقيق أمنيات األطفال المرضى ،جمعية أمنية التي تحول أحالم األطفال إلى حقيقة ،جمعية طفولة التي تحول غرف األطفال المرضى إلى غرف أحالم وجمعية MySchoolPulseالتي تهتم بتأمين التعليم المدرسي ألطفال مرضى السرطان. إن الجهود التي تبذلها الجمعية منذ تأسيسها حتى اليوم ما هي إال مبادرة تهدف ً فرصة الستكمال إلى إنقاذ األطفال من مسيرة مرضية صعبة وشاقة ،وإعطائهم حياتهم وتحقيق أحالمهم وطموحاتهم.

It is worthy to note that the volunteers’ team, which gathers doctors, lawyers, mothers, young men and women, teachers, nurses, and students, represents the backbone of the Association. Without their diligent efforts and relentless drive, the dream would not have become a reality!

Our Goals • Secure the proper medical treatment for children aged below 18 and suffering from life-threatening cancer diseases • Provide financial and psychological support • Organize entertainment activities on various occasions and in a number of hospitals, particularly: • Lebanese Geitawi Hospital – Achrafieh • Notre Dame de Secours - Jbeil • St. George University Hospital - Achrafieh • Solicit donations to cover the high cost of treatment through local & regional media exposure and campaigns via audio-visual & print media • Hold special conferences to shed light on children’s cancer diseases, their symptoms, types, and treatment techniques, as we all prevention measures.

Georges Khoury Blending both talents of singer and painter, Georges Khoury offers exceptional performances tinted with color, emotion, and expression. His divine voice touches the souls and minds and his splendid paintings mirror his perceptions, feelings, and impressions. Rola Safa Rola Safa, the American Lebanese TV presenter, charmed audiences with her charisma, beauty, and professionalism. Thanks to her spontaneous and smart approach, she grew to become one of Lebanon’s most renowned journalists and shined brightly in the Lebanese media arena. Rola Safa presented one of the most important sports events in the world in the United States and covered several fashion shows in Italy. A philanthropist, she devoted a great part of her time to human actions and initiatives that help better the society.
