PRESIDENT’S LETTER
My message to all those reading this booklet: You did not get this booklet by mere coincidence. Our words, photos, hopes, joys, and achievements did not reach you by some kind of mistake. Each word is meant to create impact. Each coincidence has a significance that transcends our human aspirations. Each event has a meaning that leads us to other unexpected interpretations.
Within these pages you are flipping through today, you will witness the accomplishments of a relatively young association that saw the light in 2005 and grew to become, thanks to the goodwill of various individuals, a full-fledged, leading association in healthcare provision to children battling with cancer in Lebanon. Since its inception, Kids First has provided medical treatment to 600 children. In 2013 alone, the number of afflicted children reached a record 150. There is no doubt that these numbers are heartbreaking and we would rather they were non-existent. We wish there was nothing but good health, laughter, and joy. We long for moments that go by swiftly, for moments that we do not have to shed from our memories, for moments that neither sleep nor death can take away. Dear reader, can you imagine how amazing it is for our children to be lovingly surrounded by young volunteers, whether they are students, mothers, fathers, and nurses?
Can you imagine that moment of anticipation when our kids look forward to meet their doctor to sense some reassurance and see that ray of hope? Can you imagine those wonderful tunes voiced by that doctor to thaw out the coldness of their world? Here is a song for you to enjoy, dear reader, within the pages of these booklet performed by the treating physician Dr. Peter Noun. May be this tune could break through the silence and through this chaotic, empty world to awaken us to heed these kids who are struggling between today’s sun and tomorrow’s darkness. Dear reader, you know, as much as we do, that there are moments when nothing is more powerful than love, moments when you would be willing to forsake everything except love. You must also know that time goes by way slower during times of hardship and sickness. Thus, we summon each one of you today to become a messenger of love and draw on that message to help these kids heal from cancer, a disease that is not bound by social class, religious, nationality, titles or ranks. Be yourself the LOVE. Be the gateway to healing…love heals and with a gesture of love, we can live!

When Rolla Safa first appeared onscreen, she charmed audiences with her beauty, charisma, and professionalism. Throughout the years, she garnered a reputation in the television field and also in the humanitarian sector. She has worked in the two top television stations in Lebanon, LBC and MTV. Alongside her success on TV, she has collaborated with several prominent charity organizations and has been a part of the Kids First family since 2011.
Robert El Nakhel
He is an anchorman and TV host characterized by his allure and refined persona. He stands out during the newscasts and adds a unique twist to his talk shows. He mesmerizes his guests with his eloquent conversational style. He has a remarkable breadth of knowledge on all social issues. Robert El Nakhel makes the headlines within Kids First association and represents one of its pillars.
Our sincere gratitude to all the stars who made our 2014 evening beyond special! Joseph Attieh He is a young, deep-rooted artist that has become the source of national and regional pride ever since his win in Star Academy in 2005. His song “Al Hak Ma Bimout” (The truth never dies) will continue to resonate as long as Attieh is adamantly advocating for his country and the truth wherever he goes. He is similar to a bee that is always buzzing and never fails to lend a helping hand to people in need until the last breath. This is no surprise considering he represents the steadfast youth of Batroun that senses God’s signs in his life every day. Thanks to him, we will sing to every innocent life “La Trouhi” (Don’t go) and will strive to conquer cancer that is afflicting our children.

Cinda Ramseur
Los Angeles native Cinda RamSeur started her solo career in the United States. Cinda’s music is straight up with no gimmicks or heavy sequencing. She invites the listener into her world by putting her heart and soul into her lyrics and vocal delivery. Her reputation precedes her. So far, Cinda recorded “I Won’t Stay” for the movie Kick Boxer starring Jean Claude Van Dam and “I’d Rather Be With You” with jazz saxophonist Ron Brown’s album From My Eyes to Yours.
Habib Alberto
He was always fond of music and instruments and his tunes received widespread acclaim in Lebanon and throughout the world. His identity is the violin, his nationality international music, and his religion a melodious, breathtaking tune.
Georges Awde
He is a 19-year-old pianist and musical composer who is endowed with extraordinary talent that enabled him to climb up the career ladder at a record-breaking pace. He successfully crossed over the traditional route to stardom and reached the limelight in a refined art arena despite his young age. He participated in a number of highlevel musical events in Lebanon and continuously joins national charitable events.
Dancing With The Stars Team Charbel Khalil and Pamela Mananian Charbel Khalil He was drawn to the dance world at the age of 17 and since then he has followed his passion and continuously honed his talent with hard work. He took part in local and international dance competitions. He was able to balance between his passion for dancing and his arduous work as a doctor specialist in stem cell therapy.
Pamela Mananian She started dancing at the age of 8. She didn’t know back then that it was the beginning of a long, successful journey. Pamela was crowned Lebanese champion in Ballroom dancing from 2006 to 2009. She represented Lebanon in the 2008 indoor Olympics in China, the 2009 Grand Slam Ballroom, and the Open Latin in Moscow. She has also participated in various workshops and seminars in Germany from 2007 throughout 2009.
Aly Hamoud and Sandra Elia Aly Hammoud He is a renowned Lebanese celebrity model, actor, fitness trainer and business entrepreneur. He played with the Lebanese National Football Team for the ‘under 21’ age category. Ali won the title in two beauty pageants, Mr. Asia 2010 and Mr. International 2012-13. Sandra Elia She started learning classical ballet at the age of four. Today, after 18 years of diligent efforts and practice, she became a trainer, choreographer and a member of the Lebanese Dance Federation jury. Most lately, she joined the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ team and still aims for many more challenges and achievements.
Marcelino Gebrayel and Sandra Abbas Marcelino Gebrayel He is a renowned Lebanese model and Zumba instructor. He represented Lebanon in many beauty contests where he ranked quite high. He gladly welcomes challenges and is a number one sports man. He also harbors a great passion for Latin dancing. Sandra Abbas She started dancing when she was 16 years old. She has been competing alongside her partner Asadour Euredjian since 2007. Together, they represented Lebanon in a range of local and international competitions and attended many professional workshops in Lebanon and around the globe. She also participated in the first

and second seasons of the critically-acclaimed show “Dancing with the Stars”.
Nada Abou Farhat For more than 17 years, Nada has been showcasing her acting prowess in many roles in TV series, theater plays and films under the direction of renowned directors. Nada’s breakthrough performance came about in 2007 when she played the role of Zeina in the feature film “Under the Bombs”. That role earned her several awards including “Best Actress” in international film festivals (Dubai, Oran, Thessaloniki...) Asadour Eurejian He started his professional dancing career at the age of 14 inspired by the movie “Shall We Dance.” In 2007, he embarked upon a myriad of local and international dance contests alongside his dance partner, Sandra Abbas, and won many awards. He also partook in both seasons of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and made it to the finals of the first season with actress Nada Abou Farhat.
Elie Stephan and Roula Abdel Malak Elie Stephan He is a Lebanese basketball player affiliated to the Sagesse basketball team. He formerly played with the Champville team in the 2012 championship. Since 2009, Stephan has been a member of the Lebanese National Team. Roula Abdelmalak She is a passionate professional dancer who has proudly represented Lebanon in dancing competitions around the world. She started dancing at the age of 15 and grew to value the importance of unremitting diligence and assiduous work to reach accomplishments at a large scale. When asked about the highlight of this era, she doesn’t hesitate to say: “It’s a full-fledged journey brimming with painful and happy moments. My big dreams and sturdy belief in my abilities and inner strength turned me into the person I am today and the person I long to be in the future”.

This song is meant to be a message of hope and a call to each one of us to hold on to our dreams. The fact that these children are still smiling despite their battle with the disease should be an inspiration for all of us. They are the perfect example of patience and willpower. Therefore, we should not feel sorrow because there is hope. We should believe in tomorrow because there is a cure. We should keep dreaming because we cannot survive without our dreams. No one knows what the future holds but as long as there is life, we should go on.

He is one of the top-notch lyrics writers on the Lebanese scene whose journey into music started in 1997. He collaborated with prominent artists and clutched five (5) Murex D’Or awards for best poet and best song. Some of his achievements are “Hobbak Azab”, “Law Hobbna Ghalta”, “Hakam el Hobb”, “Ya dalle ya Rouhe” performed by Wael Kfoury, and “Ayyam” performed by the late singer Warda El Jazairyah.
Composer: Hisham Boulos
He is a Lebanese composer and manager of the musical academy in The Apostles School, Jounieh. He was bestowed three (3) Murex D’Or awards for best composition. Many of the songs he composed won widespread acclaim in the Arab world. Through his talent, words dance to the tunes, thereby breaking through the hearts, hypnotizing the senses, and transporting the listener from reality to the world of dreams.
Musical Arrangement: Dany Helou
He is a musical arranger who studied music at the Holy Spirit University in Kaslik. He collaborated with renowned Arab and foreign artists and the songs he arranged were met with sweeping success in the Arab and Western worlds. He leaves a unique, professional imprint on each tune he arranges, which makes him stand out from the
rest. Thus, when people listen to his songs, they can easily discern his music and say “This is the Dany Helou touch.”
Sound Engineering: Ralf Sleiman
Lebanese musician and sound engineer. He pursued his musical and acoustic studies at the Holy Spirit University. He collaborated with a number of artists and recorded many musical works alongside a myriad of Western and Arab orchestras. He is a high-caliber sound engineer and makes significant contributions whether on the humanitarian and social levels.
Performance: Dr. Peter Noun
He is a Pediatric Hematologist and Oncologist, Former President of the Lebanese Society of Hematology and Blood transfusion, and Chief of the Department of Pediatrics at the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui. He holds a diploma in opera singing from the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music. By striking a balance between his dedication to medicine and his passion for singing, Dr. Noun managed to fulfill his mission with unrelenting commitment, thereby turning medicine into a musical note that heals the hearts and giving art a noble humanitarian value.

Paining exhibition of Rasha Khayat
Kids First extends its sincere thanks to the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation for allocating a number of episodes of its show “Min el Kalb” (From the Heart) to help cancer patients as part of its social responsibility. LBC was able to collect USD 850,000 to enable three kids to receive medical treatment and undergo bone marrow transplant outside Lebanon. Lebanon engaged in a live telethon in 2013 to collect donations for the child Nehmtallah El Helou, a leukemia patient who was able to undergo bone marrow transplant in Paris, which was relatively successful. The remaining funds collected were used to support Fatima, who was suffering from Leucemie Aigue Myeloblastique. As for the child Sergio Aoun who suffers from a very rare disease, he also received his share of the telethon in 2014, during which the “Min el Kalb” show was able to collect the needed amount for him to undergo bone marrow transplant in Italy.

شكرًا «من القلب» للمؤسسة اللبنانية لإلرسال LBCI تتوجه جمعية Kids Firstإلى المؤسسة اللبنانية لإلرسال بالشكر الكبير لتخصيصها حلقات خاصة ضمن برنامج «من القلب» لمساعدة مرضى السرطان في سياق التزامها بالمسؤولية االجتماعية .وقد استطاعت الـ LBCIتأمين مبلغ 850ألف دوالر أميركي لتأمين عالج لثالثة أطفال وإجراء عمليات زرع نقي العظم لهم خارج لبنان. فقد كان لبنان على موعد مع تيليتون مباشر عام 2013 لتأمين تبرعات لمساعدة الطفل نعمة اهلل الحلو المصاب بسرطان الدم والذي أجريت له عملية زراعة نقي العظم في باريس وشفي نسبيًا من المرض .ومن المبلغ المتبقي من التبرعات ،تم تقديم الدعم الالزم للطفلة فاطمة التي كانت تعاني من سرطان .Leucemie Aigue Myeloblastique

مارسيلينو جبرايل :عارض أزياء مشهور ومدرب ،Zumba م ّثل لبنان في العديد من مسابقات الجمال حيث حاز على أهم األلقاب .يحب التحدي ويعشق الرياضة ،ولديه شغف كبير بالرقص الالتيني.
شربل خليل :جذبه عالم الرقص حين كان في سن الـ ،17 فانقاد وراء شغفه وعمل على صقل موهبته وأصحبها بالعمل الدؤوب ،ما أدى إلى مشاركته في مسابقات رقص محلية وعالمية .زاوج بين شغف الرقص وصوابية عمله الجاد في المستشفى كطبيب متخصص في عالج الخاليا الجذعية. باميال مانانيان :بدأت في الرقص منذ عمر الـ 8سنوات .لم تكن تعلم آنذاك أن موهبتها هذه ستكون بداية لرحلة نجاح طويلة .ت ُّوجت بطلة الـ Ballroom Dancingمنذ العام 2006 لغاية العام ،2009ومثلت لبنان في األلعاب األولمبية المغلقة في الصين عام ،2008في الـ Grand Slam Ballroomوالـ Open Latinفي موسكو .كما شاركت في العديد من ورش العمل والندوات في ألمانيا منذ العام 2007لغاية العام .2009 علي حمود وساندرا إليا علي حمود :شهرة واسعة في عرض األزياء والتمثيل ،وهو مدرب لياقة بدنية وصاحب مشاريع تجارية في لبنان .لعب مع المنتخب الوطني لكرة القدم لفئة الـ «ما دون 21سنة» .حاز على لقب ملك جمال آسيا عام ،2010وMr. International لعام .2013/2012 ساندرا إليا :بدأت بتع ّلم الباليه الكالسيكي منذ عمر الـ 4 سنوات .واليوم ،وبعد 18عامًا من الجهد الدؤوب والتدريب، باتت ساندرا مدربة ومصممة رقص وعضو في لجنة حكام االتحاد اللبناني للرقص .كما انضمت مؤخرًا إلى فريق Dancing With the Starsوهي تتط ّلع دائمًا إلى المزيد من التحديات والنجاحات في حياتها.
ساندرا عباس :بدأت مشوارها في عالم الرقص منذ أن كان عمرها 16عامًا .شكلت مع صديقها أسادور أوردجيان ثنائيًا رائعًا منذ العام ،2007فم ّثال لبنان في مسابقات محلية وعالمية وشاركا في حلقات تدريب رقص وطنية ودولية. وكان حضور ساندرا الفتًا في الموسم األول والثاني من .Dancing With the Stars
ندى أبو فرحات وأسادور أوريجيان ندى أبو فرحات :ألكثر من 17عامًا ،برعت ندى أبو فرحات في التمثيل في مسلسالت تلفزيونية ،مسرحيات وأفالم بإدارة أهم المخرجين .وكانت المحطة األهم لها في السينما عام 2007عن دور «زينة» في فيلم «تحت القصف» الذي خولها لتحصد جوائز عديدة منها «أفضل ممثلة» في المهرجانات السينمائية الدولية (دبي ،وهران ،تسالونيقي.)... أسادور أوريجيان :بدأ مسيرته االحترافية في الرقص عن
عمر 14عامًا ،مستوحيًا شغفه بالرقص من فيلم “Shall We .”Danceخاض غمار مسابقات الرقص المحلية والعالمية

إليك رحلة حب مع ساره... رحلة حب حصلت في زماننا ومكاننا... أبطالها ساره و...Kids First ولدت سارة في 8نيسان ،2001في كنف عائلة متواضعة جدًا... أتت إلى هذه الحياة حبًا بالحياة... لكن والدها اختفى فجأة عنها واختفى سره معه... فعاشت سارة وأختها الصغرى في مدرسة داخلية... طبعًا ،ال داعي للكتابة عن مرارة االنفصال عن العائلة... مرارة عيش طفولة دون أم وأب... العمة تحننت وأخذت على عاتقها تربية ساره واألخت الصغرى... لكن مرارة أخرى من نوع آخر طرقت باب ساره... سرطان الدم ...والكلمات تفي بالتعبير... سرطان من نوع ...Leucemie Aigue Myeloblastique يستثن طفلة رمتها الطفولة عند مفترق الطريق ... سرطان لم ِ يستثن دم تخلى عنه َمن ِمن لحمه ودمه... لم ِ لكن العناية اإللهية وضعت Kids Firstفي طريق ساره في العام ...2012 فهي تتكفل بعالجاتها في المستشفى اللبناني الجعيتاوي الجامعي... هي رفيقة دربها في السراء والضراء... وحين احتاجت لعملية زرع نخاع شوكي ...كانت أختها مطابقة... وأجريت لها العملية في الخارج ...ولكن... هي الحياة ...لعبة تتأرجح بين الواقع والالواقع... بين االبتسامة والدموع... بين اللقاء والفراق... فارقها من أوجدها في هذه الحياة ...القتها الحياة بخطر الفراق... إال أن الجمعية لم تكن منظومة آلية ...بل منظومة عالج ودعم ومرافقة... منظومة حب... والحب يفوق الحياة وأنصاف الحياة ...يفوق الموت وضراوة الموت... وساره انتصرت على الموت... انتصرت بفعل الحب... كل حب وأنت بخير...

كلمة رئيس الجمعية تحية حب وبعد، لكل شخص يقرأ كلماتي في هذا الكت ّيب أقول :لم يقع هذا وصورنا الكت ّيب بين يديك عن طريق الصدفة ،لم تقع كلماتنا َ وآالمنا وأفراحنا وانتصاراتنا خطأ بين يديك .فلكل كلمة أثر، ولكل صدفة تدبير يفوق مخططاتنا اإلنسانية ،ولكل حدث معان أخرى غير متوقعة. معنى يحيلنا إلى ٍ من خالل هذه األوراق التي تتصفحونها اليوم ،ستشهدون على إنجازات جمعية كانت طفلة صغيرة عام ،2005طفلة نمت وكبرت بفضل فاعلي الخير لتصبح اليوم جمعية ناضجة ورائدة في لبنان في مجال مساعدة األطفال مرضى السرطان. Kids Firstعالجت 600طفل منذ تأسيسها حتى اليوم .وقد شهد العام 2013على عدد قياسي لألطفال المرضى وصل إلى الـ .150طبعًا ،تؤلمنا األرقام ،تؤلمنا األعداد ،ونشتاق في هذه الحالة للصفر ،عدد الالعدد .نشتاق للحظات الشفاء والضحك واالنتصار ،للحظات تمر بسرعة ،للحظات ال نجبر ذاكرتنا على طيها في الالوعي ،للحظات ال يسرقها النوم وال الموت.
أيها القارئ ،أتدري روعة اللحظات حين يحاط أطفالنا بمتطوعين طالب وشباب وأمهات وآباء وممرضين وممرضات؟ أتدري روعة اللقاء حين ينتظر أطفالنا طبيبهم ليشعروا بلمسة اطمئنان ونفحة أمل؟ أتدري روعة األلحان حين تتراقص على نغمات صوت ذاك الطبيب لتصل النغمة إلى أصقاع الدنيا؟ إليك أيها القارئ أغنية مرفقة مع هذا أداها الطبيب المعالج بيتر نون بصوته ...لعل النغمة الكت ّيب ّ تخرق جدار الصمت وجدار ذاك العالم االفتراضي المليء بالضجيج الفارغ ،فنلتفت إلى أطفال مرضى يتأرجحون بين شمس اليوم وظلمة الغد. أيها القارئ ،أنت أدرى باللحظات التي ال تريد منها شيئًا سوى الحب ...أنت أدرى باللحظات التي يمكنك أن تتخلى فيها عن كل شيء إال عن من تحب ...أنت أدرى أن هذه اللحظات تمر دهرًا حين تكون مريضًا .فكن رسوالً للحب ،وبرسالتك هذه ستساهم في شفاء أطفالنا من مرض السرطان ،ذاك المرض الذي ال يعرف طبقة اجتماعية وال دين وال جنسية وال ألقاب وال مقامات. كن أنت الحب ،كن أنت الخط العسكري للشفاء ...الحب يشفي وبلفتة حب سنعيش!
