What is ABA therapy? How does it support children’s development? Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Therapy is a scientifically validated approach grounded in principles of learning & behavior. ABA focuses on

jeans, and show up every day with quiet strength, complete dedication and unconditional love. They build forts out of couch cushions, teach us how to ride bikes, and remind us to believe in ourselves and never give up.
Father’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate your family’s very own everyday hero. Whether it’s Dad, Grandpa, a stepdad, foster father, or a father figure, this day honors the love, laughter, and lessons that shape us into who we are.
Small Moments, Big Impact
What we remember most about our father figures isn’t always the grand gestures—it’s the little things. The small, every day moments we shared together. The quiet yet powerful acts of love are what real connection is all about. They show us that fatherhood isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being present.
One Size Does Not Fit All Families come in all shapes and sizes, and so do the men who help raise, guide, and support us. Father’s Day is for the grandfathers who spoil us with
us, stepdads who chose us willingly and always show up, and mentors, coaches, and friends who become family. No matter how fatherhood looks in your life, the love is just as deep and just as worthy of celebration.
Heartfelt Tokens
This Father’s Day, forget the fancy store bought gifts. Give him something that truly matters—your words, your time, your effort and your love.
Here’s a simple “gratitude list” you can fill out with your child, or encourage them to share with their father figure:
• 3 things I love about you
• 1 favorite memory we share
• Something you’ve taught me that I’ll never forget
• What makes you special and irreplaceable
• Why I am grateful for you
These heartfelt words often become the gifts that dads treasure the most.
Celebrating Connection
Looking for a simple yet meaningful
way to celebrate Father’s Day? Here are a few ideas your children can participate in or create:
Plan a backyard picnic or beach outing. Cook a meal together using a favorite family recipe.
Play his favorite sport or watch his favorite game on TV.
Write a letter or create a scrapbook of your favorite moments together. Put away the devices for the day and enjoy uninterrupted time together. If you’re in Miami, explore a local park, take a sunset walk along the bay, or spend time with animals in need by volunteering together at a rescue or shelter.
Honoring a father figure who has passed can be a beautiful and healing way to keep their memory alive. This Father’s Day, consider creating a special ritual like lighting a candle, visiting a place they loved, or preparing one of their favorite meals. Write a letter to them, share stories with your children, or create a memory box filled with photos, keepsakes, and moments that made them special. You can also do something in their honor, like volunteering, planting a tree, or donating to a cause they cared about. Even though they may no longer be here physically, these small acts of remembrance help us feel their love and keep their legacy alive in everyday life.
Dads don’t always get the spotlight, but they deserve to! This Father’s Day, let’s honor the men who teach us to be brave, kind, curious, and strong and celebrate the ones who show up in the big ways and the small ones.
The everyday hero isn’t the one who saves the world. He’s the one who saves the moment— and his familyagain and again.

Summer in Miami-Dade is all about fun—beach days, backyard games, and splashing in the pool. But guess who else loves summer? Mosquitoes! These tiny pests thrive in warm, rainy weather, but with a few simple tricks, you can Fight the Bite and keep your family safe from itchy, unwanted bites!
Mosquitoes need standing water to breed, so check your yard weekly and drain or cover anything that collects water—like toys, buckets, flower pots, and tarps. Even small puddles can turn into breeding sites! If you have a birdbath or fountain, treat it with a larvicide containing Bti, a safe and effective larvicide available online or at hardware stores.
Bug Spray the Right Way! Before heading outdoors, protect
yourself from mosquitoes by using an EPA-registered insect repellent. Apply it to both skin and clothing for maximum protection. Look for repellents containing DEET, picaridin, oil of lemon eucalyptus, or IR-3535, as these ingredients are proven to keep mosquitoes away. Want an extra layer of defense? Picaridin-based sprays can be safely applied to clothing, hats, and even shoes. Prefer a natural option? Oil of lemon eucalyptus works well, but requires more frequent reapplication to remain effective. Stay covered, stay bite-free!
available for iPhone and Android. A mosquito expert will come to check for hidden breeding spots and help get rid of mosquitoes—a service available at no additional cost to you! k

Summer is a season of sunshine, freedom, and fun—but also an opportunity for something deeper: connection. With school out and schedules relaxed, it’s the perfect time for families to pause, breathe, and engage more mindfully with one another.
In today’s fast-paced world, emotional resilience and self-awareness are vital skills for children to develop. And they start with us—their parents and caregivers. By weaving simple mindfulness practices into summer routines, we help our children feel seen, supported, and emotionally equipped to thrive.
Why Summer Is the Season for Mindful Parenting & Practices
Without the rush of early mornings, homework, and packed schedules,
summer invites a naturally slower pace. That space creates the ideal environment to be more present— with ourselves and our children. It’s not about perfection—it’s about intention.
Mindful parenting means responding rather than reacting. It’s noticing your child’s feelings, regulating your own, and making room for meaningful connection in everyday moments. Simple Practices for Families
Beach Breathing
Start the day with mindful breathing
Close your eyes, feel your feet on the earth or sand, and listen to the sounds around you. Encourage kids to take slow breaths and name what they feel, smell, and hear. These moments build emotional awareness and inner peace.
2Gratitude Walks and Fireworks Wonder
Take a gratitude walk through your neighborhood, yard, or local park. On the 4th of July, use fireworks shows as moments of awe: watch the sky, breathe deeply, and reflect on the beauty and freedom around you. Ask your kids, “What lit you up today? What are you excited about?”
3Mindful Media & Hands-On Learning
Create a “media balance plan” together, and pair screen time with reallife experiences. Try a family cooking class at The Real Food Academy, or visit Frost Science Museum or the History of Diving Museum for immersive, screenfree learning that sparks curiosity and bonding. No matter where you live, there are endless places to grow together.
4Emotion Check-Ins Over Smoothies
Frozen drinks offer a great time for heart-to-heart chats. Ask open-ended questions like, “What made you happy today?” or “What felt hard?” These conversations help kids build emotional vocabulary, resilience, and openness.
5Try Something New—Like Giving Back
Summer is a great time to model compassion. Consider fostering a puppy or volunteering at a local animal shelter. Many organizations welcome families to walk dogs, socialize kittens, or donate supplies. It’s a mindful act of kindness—and teaches empathy, responsibility, and the joy of giving.
Don’t Forget the Parent Piece
Mindful parenting starts with selfawareness. Take care of you, too. Wake up 10 minutes earlier for journaling or take a sunset walk. When you regulate your nervous system, your kids feel it—and mirror it.
Summer is also a time to reconnect with your passions. Whether it's reading, swimming, or gardening, doing what you love reminds your children that self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.
Natural Magic: Explore, Play, and Grow
You don’t need a ticket or reservation to experience summer’s magic. Miami is full of lush parks, coastal trails, and green spaces where families can slow down and reconnect. Whether it’s a breezy walk, a barefoot picnic, or watching clouds drift by, nature offers the perfect setting for mindfulness, movement, and memorymaking—all for free.
Many local summer camps now include mindfulness, movement, or social-emotional learning. Explore options that encourage creativity and confidence!
The Takeaway Parenting doesn’t come with a manual—but it does come with moments. Summer gives us the gift of time and the chance to share more of those moments together. With just a little intention, you can turn long, sun-soaked days into meaningful opportunities for connection, growth, and joy.
So, take a breath. Unplug. Connect. Volunteer. Explore. And remember: raising emotionally resilient kids starts with simply showing up—one mindful moment at a time. k

Festivities kicked off with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration as city leaders and families gathered to mark the completion of the project's final phase.
The City of Doral celebrated the grand opening of Doral Central Park, now the largest and most comprehensive public space in the City's history. Just in time for summer, this 78-acre destination offers indoor, outdoor, and waterfront amenities to support wellness, recreation, education, and engagement for residents of all ages.
“This isn’t just the opening of a park — it’s the realization of a dream we’ve shared as a community,” said Mayor Christi Fraga. “Doral Central Park is a promise fulfilled — the result of countless conversations, tireless work, and a shared belief that our residents deserve something extraordinary. When I look around, I don’t just see amenities — I see birthday parties, morning jogs, weekend picnics, first steps, and lifelong memories. I poured my heart into this because I believe in our city and what we can achieve together. This park is part of our legacy — a place where every
generation will connect, belong, and thrive. And this is only the beginning.”
The park's final phase introduced two major facilities:
• A state-of-the-art Aquatic Center with a 50-meter Olympic-size competition pool, leisure pool, splash pad, training pool, locker rooms, and grandstand seating. The facility will serve as a training ground for local schools and universities, offering their swim teams a competitioncaliber venue for practice and meets.
• An 80,000-square-foot Community Center with a lakefront fitness facility, indoor running track, double gymnasium, classrooms, teen and senior spaces, an art room, indoor play areas, child watch services, a teaching kitchen, and an elevated café.
These new additions complement the outdoor features
first phase of the project, a skate park and pump track, amphitheater, playgrounds, boardwalk, kayak launch, outdoor fitness stations, sports courts, and shaded picnic areas, transforming the park into a year-round venue for learning, leisure, and community life.
Whether it's swim lessons for young children, wellness workshops for adults, or dedicated activities for seniors and individuals with special needs, Doral Central Park was designed as a comprehensive resource for all residents. It provides Doral's youth with structured environments where they can channel their energy into positive pursuits, promotes healthier lifestyles for all ages, expands access to inclusive programming, and offers a secure, welcoming environment with professional staff ensuring peace of mind for visitors. k

Building on a period of expansive growth, Carnival Cruise Line is outlining its strategic plans over the next five years with the introduction of its “Innovation Itinerary,” focused on three pillars: sailing the most fun fleet at sea; creating compelling experiences and destinations; and building more Carnival loyalists. The line’s President Christine Duffy provided details on new ships, deployment, fleet enhancements and exclusive destinations at a media briefing today aboard Carnival Celebration at PortMiami.
New Ships:
At the event, Duffy revealed that the fourth ship in Carnival’s award-winning Excel class ships will be named Carnival Festivale, continuing the tradition of giving these ships the names of the first Carnival ships that popularized cruise vacations for so many Americans. Debuting in spring 2027, Carnival Festivale will sail from Port Canaveral, Florida. Reservation and itinerary details will be released this summer.
Carnival Festivale will also feature a new outdoor zone on the top three decks, named Sunsation Point, that is a vibrant and exhilarating family fun zone that promises endless entertainment and unforgettable memories for guests of all ages.
Duffy also revealed that the name of the line’s fifth Excel class ship will be Carnival Tropicale, also one of the original names of early Carnival ships. The homeport and open for sale date will be unveiled well ahead of the scheduled delivery of the ship in spring 2028. Many of the new features on Carnival
Festivale will also be included on Carnival Tropicale, as well as some new concepts and theming.
Since first introducing Fun Ship 2.0 in 2011, Carnival has continually sought to enhance the guest experience on its ships. In order to continue to innovate, Carnival will be evolving the guest experience on its existing ships by making strategic enhancements. Changes will include décor modernization, new dining, beverage and entertainment experiences that will draw from features and concepts that will be introduced on its new ships. More details will be revealed as dry dock and enhancement plans are finalized.
It’s not just ships that are part of the Innovation Itinerary, it’s also about exclusive destinations. Carnival Corporation already has the largest collection of cruise destinations across the Caribbean and Mexico that are utilized by many of its corporate brands. Carnival Cruise Line, as the largest year-round operator in these regions, is the line that frequents these destinations the most. Given this, the destinations are being enhanced and will be marketed as the new Paradise Collection by Carnival.

child—or even for yourself—can feel overwhelming. With so many options available today, how do you know which one truly fits your family’s lifestyle, dental needs, and budget? Traditional metal braces have long been the standard, but Invisalign and other clear aligner systems are rising in popularity for their discreet and flexible approach.
This article breaks down the pros and cons of both treatments—specifically for children and adults—so you can make an informed, confident decision. Whether you’re exploring options for your child’s first orthodontic evaluation or considering adult treatment for yourself, understanding the differences between braces and Invisalign is the first step toward a healthier, more beautiful smile.
1Traditional Braces vs. Invisalign for Children
Traditional Braces – Pros for Kids
• Effective for complex cases: Braces are highly effective in correcting severe misalignments, overcrowding, and bite issues.
• No temptation to remove them: Since braces are fixed to the teeth, children can’t take them out, which
Durable: Metal brackets and wires are strong and can withstand active play and chewing habits common in children.
• Adjustable: Orthodontists can easily fine-tune braces during regular visits.
• Kids love to wear different colors, which they can change every visit (some adults too!)
Traditional Braces – Cons for Kids
• Aesthetic concerns: Some children may feel self-conscious about the appearance of metal braces, although there are tooth colored or clear options available.
• Oral hygiene challenges: Brushing and flossing around brackets and wires can be difficult, increasing the risk of cavities and gum problems.
• Dietary restrictions: Kids must avoid sticky, hard, and chewy foods that can damage braces.
• Discomfort: Brackets and wires may cause mouth irritation or soreness, especially after adjustments.
Invisalign – Pros for Kids
• Better aesthetics: Clear aligners are virtually invisible, appealing to kids who are self-conscious.
• Removable for eating and cleaning: Aligners can be taken out during meals and oral hygiene, reducing food restrictions and promoting better brushing.
• Comfortable: Smooth plastic aligners reduce the risk of irritation compared to metal components.
• Will protect the teeth while doing sports or playing with roudy little brothers ;)
Invisalign – Cons for Kids
• Compliance dependent: Success relies on wearing the aligners 20–22 hours a day. Younger children may forget or lose them.
• Parents, you will likely be reminding your child to "wear your aligners, Johnny", all day, everyday.
• Easier to lose: Kids may misplace aligners during school, meals, or sports.
• Not ideal for complex cases: Invisalign may not be suitable for severe orthodontic issues in growing jaws.
• Cost and replacement: Replacing lost aligners can add expense and delay treatment.
• May have to finish with braces due to non compliance, which may add to treatment time and cost.
Braces vs. Invisalign for Adults
Traditional Braces – Pros for Adults
• Highly effective for complex needs: Ideal for adults with significant bite problems, tooth rotations, or past orthodontic relapse.
• No patient compliance needed: Since they’re not removable, there’s no risk of forgetting to wear them.
• Variety of options: Adults can choose less noticeable alternatives like ceramic braces or lingual braces (behind the teeth).
Traditional Braces – Cons for Adults
• Aesthetics: Adults may find metal braces unappealing in professional or social settings.
• Oral hygiene difficulties: Braces can make it harder to clean teeth thoroughly, increasing the risk of gum disease,
especially in adults with preexisting conditions.
• Discomfort and inconvenience: Adjustments and emergencies (like broken wires) can interfere with a busy lifestyle.
Invisalign – Pros for Adults
• Discreet appearance: Clear aligners are nearly invisible, making them ideal for professional environments.
Adults can take aligners out for meetings, eating, and brushing, offering more flexibility.
• Fewer office visits: Invisalign typically requires fewer and shorter appointments than traditional braces.
• Comfort: Aligners are smooth and generally more comfortable than brackets and wires.
Invisalign – Cons for Adults
• Requires discipline: Adults must be diligent about wearing aligners 20–22 hours a day.
• Limited in complex cases: While Invisalign has advanced, traditional braces may still be better for more complex orthodontic needs.
• May take longer with noncompliance: Forgetting to wear aligners can extend treatment time.
