The New Year marks more than just a turn of a calendar page— it’s an invitation; a chance to reflect, reset, and step into the months ahead with purpose, presence, and love. For families, this moment is an opportunity to create meaningful traditions that not only make New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day special, but set the tone for the entire year to come.

who your family is in this moment. A time capsule becomes a tangible expression of your shared story: the joys, the challenges, the silliness, the dreams. It’s a gift you give to your future selves.

daily life, revisit moments that shaped you, and see how far each family member has come.
Wishing Wall & Vision Boards – See It, Believe It, Become It
Here are 6 heartfelt ways to welcome the New Year together—and carry its magic forward, one meaningful moment at a time.

Create a family time capsule that holds more than just memories; create one that captures the essence of

Invite each family member to gather simple, yet meaningful items: a photo, a handwritten note, a small doodle or drawing, a favorite joke, something they’re proud of, and one challenge they overcame this year. Have everyone write a short letter to their “future self” with reflections, lessons, and hopes and dreams for the year ahead. Decorate the box together and store it somewhere safe to open next New Year. When that day comes, the magic unfolds: you get to witness the growth you may not have noticed in

Transform a small space in your home—a wall, door, or corkboard—into your family’s Wishing Wall and Vision Board. It becomes so much more than décor; it’s a living, breathing reflection of your family’s dreams, goals, and intentions for the year ahead. Use sticky notes or colorful paper and let everyone add to it throughout the year. Then, create vision boards using magazine clippings, drawings, and words that reflect personal and family intentions. Hang them somewhere visible to serve as a daily reminder of what you’re working toward—together.

What makes this tradition powerful is its visibility. You’ll walk by it daily and be reminded of what matters most—not just the big milestones, but the small intentions that shape your character and your connection to one another. Next New Year, you can take it all down together, talk about what came true, and start fresh with a brand new set of wishes!
of Kindness Jar - Small Acts, Big Impact
Rather than focusing solely on resolutions, invite your family to step into the new year with intention and compassion by creating a Kindness Jar. Fill it with simple, heartfelt actions like “compliment a classmate,” “write a thank-you note,” “donate a toy or clothing,” or “pick up litter at the park.” Each week or month, have a family member pick one out, and carry it out together as a family, or individually. This tradition creates ongoing opportunities for conversation, reflection, and community connection. It teaches children that kindness isn’t a one-time event—it’s a practice, a choice, a lifestyle and a powerful way to shape the world around them.

Over time, the Kindness Jar becomes more than just an activity. It’s a gentle reminder that we all have the ability to uplift others in small, everyday ways— and that those moments have a ripple effect, and are what truly make life meaningful.

Begin the first day of the New Year with something simple yet powerful—a family walk in nature. Whether it’s a local trail, park, or your own neighborhood or backyard, the goal is to step into the new year with presence. As you walk, invite each family member to share one thing they’re ready to let go of from the past year, and one thing they’d like to welcome in. This could be a mindset, a habit, or a personal goal. Framing it as a shared ritual helps children learn to process emotions, reflect, and start fresh with intention.
Over time, this walk becomes more than just a tradition; it becomes a grounding anchor for your family—a moment of clarity, connection, and hope that echoes throughout the year ahead.

5Family Highlights & Appreciation Ceremony – Celebrate Who You Are Before the clock strikes midnight and the year officially ends, gather your family for a cozy moment together —a gentle pause to honor everything you've experienced together. Light candles, dim the lights, or sit in a circle with hot cocoa in hand. One by one, invite each person to share their favorite memory from the past year, the biggest lesson they’ve learned, and something they’re proud of. This fosters gratitude, vulnerability, and encouragement—and reminds kids that growth isn’t just

about accomplishments, but about who they’re becoming every single day with each choice they make.

Create fun, custom “awards” that recognize beautiful qualities like empathy, perseverance, creativity, courage, or a great sense of humor. These can be as silly or as serious as you like—think handmade certificates, mini trophies, or even paper crowns. Present them with a short, thoughtful speech that celebrates what makes each family member unique and valued and appreciated. This tradition does more than boost confidence—it teaches kids that their character matters just as much as any report card.

of Connection - Turn the Hours into Cherished Memories
Instead of simply watching the clock tick down to midnight and the ball drop, fill each hour with moments that matter. Plan a series of bonding activities your family can do together—play a board game, make a favorite dessert, create silly resolutions, write down things you're grateful for, or look through old photos and tell the stories behind them. Assign a new activity to each hour (or every 30 minutes for little ones), turning the evening into one of laughter, creativity, and meaningful connection.

This countdown isn’t about keeping busy—it’s about being present. It transforms New Year’s Eve into something kids (and grown-ups) will look forward to — not just for the excitement at midnight, but for the special memories made leading up to it.
Traditions are more than just rituals. They’re anchors—reminders of who we are, what we value, and how deeply we belong to one another. By starting the New Year with mindfulness and meaning, we help our children build a foundation of gratitude, purpose, and joy they can carry with them all year long.

This year, instead of just watching the ball drop, lift each other up. Celebrate not only the new year—but the kind of family you are and you are becoming, one intentional and meaningful moment at a time.

Sharing a meal offers far more than a full stomach; the benefits of eating together extend well beyond the dinner table.
In the “2025 World Happiness Report,” evidence shows that sharing meals has a substantial impact on an individual’s well-being. Those who regularly eat with others report higher life satisfaction and display higher levels of social support, positive reciprocity and less loneliness.
Learn more about how sharing a meal can improve your family’s overall wellbeing with these insights from the experts at the FMI Foundation and their “2025 Family Meals Barometer survey,” which delivers research, collaboration and education to address food safety, health and nutrition concerns.
In a world full of distractions, it may come as no surprise the “2025 Family Meals Barometer” survey found poor communication is a leading concern
among parents, more worrisome than schoolwork or chores.
More than two-thirds of respondents expressed a belief that civility in America is worse today compared to 10 years ago, but 74% said family meals are a great time to have and teach respectful interactions. Frequent family meals create a safe environment for families to discuss thornier societal issues.
Numerous studies have shown families who eat more meals together have healthier eating habits and better diets in general. Family meals at home typically make it easier to fill plates with food from each food group. What’s more, parents who prepare well-balanced meals and model healthy food choices allow children to mirror and adopt similar habits.
In the “2025 Family Meals Barometer” survey, respondents cited having more

time to spend together and family meals as the top two ways they feel more connected to family and loved ones. With busy school and extracurricular schedules, many families are hardpressed to find quality time together without distractions. Gathering around the dinner table is an opportunity to connect with one another and talk about what’s happening at work, school and with friends.
Numerous factors affect students’ academic performance, but eating together as a family helps reinforce many of the variables thought to influence student success. More nutritious meals play a role in stronger cognitive function. Multiple researchers found that children who are part of families that eat together regularly tend to have a stronger vocabulary and higher grades.
Another way family meals benefit students at school and beyond is stronger mental and emotional health. In several independent studies, researchers found a positive correlation between family meals and self-esteem, psychosocial outcomes and other markers of mental health. k

heir debut album, “Hecho en casa para tu casa” (Made at Home for Your Home), captures that spirit perfectly — a soulful and family-driven musical journey created by mom, dad, and their 4-year-old son, Milo. It’s a collection of songs that fill homes with color, laughter, and connection.
Some songs are written with instruments — and others are born straight from the heart. That’s how PJ Kids came to life. What began as a family pastime has blossomed into a joyful and purpose-filled music project that blends rhythm, imagination, and love into every note.
At the heart of PJ KIDS is little Milo, a musical prodigy who joins his parents on drums and backing vocals. Even at such a young age, he brings energy and authenticity to the project, becoming both its rhythm and its smile. His natural talent and enthusiasm remind audiences that creativity knows no age.

Behind this musical adventure is a family with deep artistic roots — Periko & Jessi León, a Latin GRAMMY and Emmy-nominated duo who have spent their careers performing across Latin America and collaborating with celebrated artists. Known for their uplifting songs about love, dreams, and roots, the couple has also contributed their voices to campaigns for major brands.
When Milo was born, everything changed. Surrounded by instruments, imagination, and unconditional love, he became their greatest inspiration. By the age of three, he was already playing drums like a pro. His presence transformed their music into something even more playful, tender, and filled with

light. And from that transformation, PJ KIDS was born — not as a planned project, but as a natural expression of who they are: a family that sings, plays, laughs, and grows together.
“Hecho en casa para tu casa” is exactly what it sounds like — music born in their home, now shared with yours. Alongside the album, PJ KIDS also launches an animated music video series on their official YouTube Kids channel, bringing their songs to life with colorful visuals and meaningful messages. Each video is designed to make children and parents dance, imagine, and connect through stories that celebrate values, creativity, and family love.
The response from families has been heartwarming — parents and kids alike are finding joy in singing along and rediscovering the power of togetherness through music. k

Ineed to tap out,” I declared to my husband as soon as he got home. Our daughters had gotten off the school bus with bellies and brains full of holiday party sweets. This meant I’d spent the last two hours on an emotional thrill ride with a 6- and 8-year-old while also attempting to wrap up work and respond to the rapid-fire texts from my mother-in-law about our Christmas plans. My patience wasn’t just wearing thin; it threatened to put on an invisibility cloak.
Yep. Welcome to the holidays, when moms everywhere forget all their previous vows to simplify this year and instead charge full steam into the season. With our schedules and expectations, no wonder so many of us feel on edge, but there’s a better way. Mom, stop asking how to be a more patient mom and instead put into practice these 5 ways to be one.
realistic expectations for yourself and your family.
Sometimes, we test our own patience by packing our calendars fuller than Santa’s bag. We drive around to look at Christmas lights, get tickets to The Nutcracker, host an ornament exchange with the neighbors, attend a candlelight church service, and drink hot cocoa by the tree while watching Elf.
Forget about what social media implies. Christmas bucket lists aren’t meant to be completed in one week. Instead, prioritize what’s truly important for your family. Ask each family member what one thing is a must-do or mustsee for them. For younger children, keep it simple by asking, “Would you rather do THIS or THAT?” You might be surprised what really matters to them. Plus, it models for your child that saying no to a good thing (Sorry, Elf) allows space to say yes to the best thing (making cookies together).

2 Make a plan, but be flexible about it.
Sometimes how to be a more patient mom around the holidays takes some pre-planning. Create your family’s holiday calendar. Make your shopping lists for gifts, school parties, and those must-dos you added to the calendar. Talk with your husband and divide tasks. If you have older kids, delegate tasks to them, too. By involving the entire family in planning (and pulling off) a holiday to remember, you allow them to experience how good it feels to be on the giving end of Christmas, too.
But also be prepared for plans to change. Those classic bumper stickers should say “Sick kids happen,” because they do. And, as good as we are as moms, I’ve yet to meet one who can accurately pre-schedule a sick day for her child. Oh, and those “I forgot to tell you about” events will crop up, too.
3Keep your kids on a consistent routine.
Around the holidays, there’s a lot to do, places to go, people to see, and an abundance of sensory overload to go around. While age doesn’t shield kids from the stress of it all, kids in a predictable routine tend to respond better to it. For example, a set nightly bedtime ensures your child receives adequate sleep to help him make better choices the next day. How to be a more patient mom around the holidays often begins by setting yourself up for success. And that’s precisely what a consistent routine does!
4Know your pressure points and prepare for them.
Seeing your step-mom? Going to your child’s school event? Heading to Target on a Saturday afternoon along with everyone else in town? We’ve all got situations or individuals who put us on edge. In those stressful situations,

it’s natural to lean towards impatience and irritability. However, identifying potential stressors in advance is like waving an internal yellow flag in your brain. This reminds you to proceed with caution and be prepared to respond more calmly and thoughtfully.
mental space for simple practices to stay calm.
According to a recent national poll of parents, 75 percent of moms set a New Year’s Resolution to be more patient. Engaging in simple practices to stay calm can significantly support your desire to be more patient during the holidays. For example, practicing positive affirmations or prayer in the morning can center your thoughts and reduce anxiety. Taking slow, deliberate breaths can also quickly alleviate stress. Even heading to the park with the kids so YOU can swing when the weather feels nice can improve your mood and reduce tension.

By making these simple practices part of your day, you can better manage the increased demands of the holiday season, fostering a more patient and joyful environment for your family— and for yourself!
What advice would you give on how to be a more patient mom?

eonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami blends hands-on learning with unforgettable family moments. Kids stand beneath life size flying machines, walk through immersive projections of Leonardo’s art, and explore the mysteries hidden within the Mona Lisa. Best of all, admission includes access to the Aquarium, Frost Planetarium and all other exhibitions, making it a full day of discovery!
Created by Grande Experiences in collaboration with the Museo Leonardo da Vinci in Rome, the exhibition reveals Leonardo not only as the artist behind masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, but also as a scientist, inventor, engineer, and visionary thinker. He studied everything from anatomy and architecture to flight and water mechanics. His notebooks reveal hundreds of sketches for inventions that would not become reality until centuries later.
Families can explore life-size machines and models built directly from Leonardo’s drawings including early concepts for flying machines, bridges, and even underwater diving gear!Standing beside these inventions helps children connect the ideas from Leonardo’s notebook to the physical model right in front of them. It is an inspiring lesson in creativity, problem solving, and perseverance.

A highlight of the exhibition is an immersive, multisensory projection gallery that surrounds guests with floor to ceiling visuals of Leonardo’s art and sketches. Light, music, and motion transform the space as famous works appear around you. It feels like stepping into Leonardo’s imagination and watching ideas come to life.
Another standout moment is Mona Lisa Revealed, where science and art converge. Thanks to high resolution scans and digital analysis, guests can see what

lies beneath the surface of the world’s most famous portrait. Hidden layers are revealed, showing how Leonardo experimented, adjusted, and perfected his creation. It’s a powerful message for young artists and inventors that great ideas take time.
In one section of the gallery, interactive models of Leonardo’s inventions invite children to explore concepts such as force, gears, and motion and test their bridge building skills.

As you spend the day exploring Frost Science, you’ll see how Leonardo’s curiosity, creativity, and problemsolving mirror the science and breakthroughs that continue to inspire us today. k
Leonardo da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius is on view through Sunday, April 5, 2026, inside the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the first floor of the museum. This holiday season, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood invites guests to “Hard Rock the Holidays” - a light show spectacular at The Guitar Hotel — featuring more than two million LED lights, dazzling displays, and unforgettable family experiences spanning 35 days, starting from Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, through Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
“‘Hard Rock the Holidays’ transforms the Guitar Hotel into a dazzling winter wonderland that brings people of all ages together in the spirit of joy and celebration,” said Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming. “This event is about more than lights and music; it’s about creating meaningful moments for our guests, families, and especially children, whose wonder and excitement remind us what the holiday season is truly about. We’re proud to celebrate and give back to the South Florida community that has supported us for so many years, and to begin a new holiday tradition that families can enjoy for generations to come.”
Step Into a Magical Winter Wonderland
The festival spans 20 themed areas, each bringing a unique story to life through lights, design, and sound.
Guests enter through the Gates of the Glowing Grove, where two majestic 13-foot illuminated deer welcome them into a winter wonderland of warmth and wonder. The North Pole Passage follows, with twinkling garland arches creating a tunnel of lights perfect for holiday photos.
The adventure continues through enchanting scenes like Frozen Flame, where shimmering ice sculptures and cool-toned lighting create a serene arctic escape, and Santa’s Celestial Ride, where Santa and his reindeer soar across the night sky surrounded by over 100 glowing RGB orbs. Guests can stroll past the Fountains of Frost, marvel at the Crystal Forest of towering ice sculpture trees, and snap the perfect photo along Holiday Portrait Lane.

Starlight Boulevard features 12 illuminated star arches, while Glowing Palm Paradise transforms 28 palm trees into a tropical winter escape. Families can wander through Whimsy Woods, where elves and gnomes add playful charm, and on to The Garland Gateway and Gingerbread Junction, a candycolored village of giant wreaths and sweet décor.
The celebration extends across the lagoon with six themed islands that bring the holidays to life. Santa Rocks! showcases Santa strumming his guitar in true Hard Rock fashion, while Elf’s Landing offers a cozy setup with milk and cookies for Santa’s favorite helper. The Island of Misfit Toys delivers nostalgia and charm, and Reindeer Bay features Santa’s reindeer ready to take flight. Guests can also explore the sugary spectacle of Candy Cane Cove and the icy glow of Polar Bear Island.
Family Fun: “Rock the Holidays!” Scavenger Hunt
Younger guests can discover, explore, and become Junior Holiday Rockstars in the “Hard Rock The Holidays!”
Scavenger Hunt. Participants will visit themed stops across the resort, solve festive clues, and record their discoveries. After completing all eight stations, they can proudly claim their Junior Holiday Rockstar Badge at Ms. Claus’s Kitchen, a fun and festive way to celebrate the season and capture the magic of the holidays.
